I've been riding these on my front and back wheels for about four months now. They are pretty good and inspire a bit of confidence in slushy snow, fresh powder, and ice sheets generated by melting and freezing snow. I probably would not have biked as much this winter without them.A few things to know beforehand:1) They can be pretty difficult to put on. Between the wire bead and perhaps the tire sizing itself, I was fighting to get them onto my wheels. I found it difficult to get them on without pinching the inner tube, and even when I thought I had it right I walked out the next morning to a flat tire. The second time around was easier--so I'm more than willing to chalk this up to a beginner's learning curve. However, make sure you have sturdy tire levers, perhaps a bit of soapy water, and check out a few YouTube videos to get a general strategy worked out before installing (and make sure you have easy access to some spare tubes).2) They require a break-in period of 25 miles (or 40km) on dry pavement taking it easy on acceleration and braking. Pick them up and install before you need them!My commute is about six miles on various surfaces, mainly chip seal roads (where the extra traction afforded by the studs can really come in handy) but also non-trivial stretches of recently paved asphalt and both concrete roads and sidewalks. You do notice the greater rolling resistance--especially on windy days. They are also fairly loud and can induce a rumbling feeling while riding during the break-in period, but it does settle down after that. Though, you still won't be sneaking up on many people.I've found that they do seem to have a greater propensity for being sucked into road ruts, whether that's packed snow and ice or normal interfaces between an asphalt road and concrete gutter or control/expansion joints on concrete sidewalks. I also did manage to lose four studs on my back tire in an emergency braking situation well after the break-in period, though it doesn't seem to be any less effective on ice.Despite the effort involved in getting them on the wheels and keeping those wheels spinning through the added rolling resistance, they are well worth it. It's easy being extra cautious while turning or going over glare ice in sunlit conditions, but they definitely have saved my bacon on at least one occasion when I encountered an unexpected patch of black ice at a stoplight while braking.

I have a 4-mile commute each way, mostly on a bike path that is plowed with a 1-day lag and that remains ice-coated in many places. My bike slid out from under me on ice last winter. I was lucky not to break a hip when I hit the ground, and don't want to try my luck again.I installed these tires six weeks ago, and have been riding mostly in snowy and icy conditions since then. The tires have noticeably--but not overwhelmingly--higher drag on dry road than my general use tires (low-end road-touring tires) have. The opportunity cost of their relative efficiency is that, without a deep snow tread, they do not get traction (given my riding style, at least) on a steep hill with more than 1/2" of fresh snow. But I can ride on flat terrain in 1--2" of fresh snow, and am secure on ice at moderate speed. The tires do not have studs far up the side (as Schwalbe Marathon winter tires do), but I do not need to ride in rutted ice, and I would not lean far enough into a turn on flat ice that those side studs would encounter the road, so they would be useless for me.These tires seem to be identical to the Schwalbe Marathon studded tires, except for lacking side studs. Those tires have over 20 Amazon reviews. One problem noted by several reviewers is that some of their studs have fallen out. So far, I have not lost any studs in my tires.

I drove the entire winter even with snow and mud with it. 1A- I can recommend every year. Only thawing Schneematsch about 5cm high on asphalt was also not thereby mobile. In the 30mm variant it fits also super on a 0815 Stadtrad. It holds a lot of vandalism, a large cut on the outside is only a point on the inside in the hose. So also in the normal case very pannensicher. Caution on the tire pressure and the hose on the tire is recommended at least 3.5 bar. Less makes the carcass broken, even if it has better grip. So I immediately ordered a new - recommendation! The spikes you can buy extra.

Riding over pavement, ice, snow, slush, what have you in a mountain town half the time before sunrise, I only slip when there is 2.5 to 4 inches of a not hard layer on the road. As the tire cuts through different layers and briefly moves around among different ice/slush/powder I start to skid, usually in the front. With just one on the back, I was falling off the bike. But with one in front and one in back, I've yet to fall yet. Probably ridden 140 miles or so.Also, passing slow fat bikers on these skinny tires on a single speed road bike. Just saying.

I am very satisfied with the tires. I rode with it last winter, a lot on ice, pressed snow and wet or icy wood. I drive a lot in the city on cleared paths or on frozen snow. The tires are ideal for this. The stop is very good - you have to be careful that you do not slip when you descend, because you underestimate the ice! On wet or dry asphalt, the tires are fine, but the spikes hear and feel natural. You also notice an increased rolling resistance. If you use them for what they are made for, they are highly recommended

I could bike over any flat areas of ice no problem. They slowed me down significantly though, to the extent that I'd rather try MTB tires or just deflating my plus size road tires so then I could get the most efficiency every day from my one bike setup. Flawless on flat ice but you'll feel the ridges a lot, they pushed me around at higher psi anyway. These aren't that amazing in, say, a few inches of snow as even the spikes wouldn't give me a ton of traction then.

Excellent traction when used as it is intended to be used. The spikes in the center are quite grippy, making this a great option for 26" wheels used in winter on slippery surfaces. The reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that I consider this the "lite" version of Schwalbe's studded tire--no studs on the sides. Tires with side studs are better at cornering and more extreme conditions. Value for money, however, I would give this 5 stars.

I recently ordered these tires online and was pleasantly surprised within just a few business days after I had paid the tires to mount them on my bike too. But so much time; Advantages: - Extremely good tires - SuperGrip on all surfaces - Good visibility through reflective strips on the carcass - Definitely recommendable Disadvantage: - A bit loud but there is nothing to do - Otherwise I have not noticed any more.

Tires mounted on e-bike. Excellent grip on black ice (black ice loses all horror). A wider tire would be better on slush. Driving noises that are quieter than expected also help to attract pedestrians' attention. Increased resistance on the e-bike is not a problem. Holds well on asphalt that is free of snow and ice.

Bought them for my son's mountain bike. We live less than a mile from his school but the roads are in bad shape, poorly plowed, and accumulate a lot of ice. I think he's the only kid at school still riding his bike but he says these are great tires and he's had no falls since we put them on his bike.

The sidewalls are rigid so the tire on the wheel was a little more difficult than usual. The result in term in adhesion is hyper probant. This tire offers super grip on wet roads covered with leaves, The next test will be on frozen roads. After riding, the tire gives a more sporty look to the bike.

Why is thickness a choice for review? I got the same question for a bike tire and a guitar amp? Weird.I had a real hard time trying to wrestle this on my rim - if I get a flat out on the road forget trying to change it. I'm hoping after a season of wear it will stretch out a little.

Great tires for moderate winter contitions. I live in anchorage alaska, and even after adding the additional studs, this tire still was no match for the winter here. I found myself slipping a lot more than i'd like, but these tires would be excellent in a less extreme environment.

No studs have fallen off. Work very well on ice, I fall when I get off the bike.Of course you have to turn slow because it just has the central rows of studs.Expect your commute to be 10-20% more because of increased rolling resistance.Would buy them again.

live in Chicago and rides the Lake Shore bike path. Twice ridden on a pure sheen of ice at the s-curve without falling down. Just make sure you go above 10mph and lean more than 15 degrees or so (from my experience with studded mountain bike tire)
