I bought two of these as my old Raleigh racing tyres were starting to perish. I chose this due to the price and its puncture protection which I note is achieved through the addition of Kevlar. This tyre (model No. HS159) is specified to fit ridged rims, however the included instructions state it can be used with smooth rims which was what my wheels are and proved to be no issue, though require a lower limit on tyre pressure. Tyre pressure is specified at between 3.5 & 6 bar (5 bar limit on smooth rims).I made a comparison of the rolling resistance of my old tyres to these and found these to have slightly less which I was surprised given the tread pattern,I put the improvement on the noticeably sharper profile these have once inflated. After over a years regular use I can now report no punctures (despite riding over glass & thorny ground) and minimal tread wear.Overall I`m very happy & definitely recommend.

There are not many factories making this size of tyre any longer. There is factory in Vietnam making some which are branded "Raleigh" but have never been near Nottingham. And these.Schwalbe are well known as manufacturers of outstanding bicycle tyres. These are not outstanding, but they are probably the best you'll get. Swapping to 700C wheels is probably impossible with your current frame, so it's these or nothing. My old tyres, which might actually have been made in the UK were disintegrating, so these should keep the bike going longer than I'm going to be fit enough to ride it!

I've been using these tyres since October 2015 (5 months) almost every day. I commute along paths with broken glass and lots of debris, I've ridden down dirt tracks, through farms, across derelict land over all kinds of surfaces. I have had absolutely no punctures with these tyres, it's almost funny how tough they are. If you want something for your winter riding, these are the best. I use Schwalbe on my mountain bike too and they're also fantastic, great brand, great price, great quality.

Perfect for adding a classic look to your 27" wheel road bike, this tyre comes at a slight premium over the tan walled version. Having bought a pair I've found they are very hard wearing - I have ridden over thorns without skipping a beat, and they work well on bridleway and other dry loose surfaces. But remember these are touring tyres, not proper off road tyres, and you'll quickly get bogged down in mud.

Hadn't been able to get tyres for my road bike - odd size - but these are perfect. I can't comment on the actual fitting because I got someone else to do it - little arthritic fingers don't take kindly to that kind of job. Looking forward to getting out to try them out. I'm a fair weather cyclist so I can't comment on performance on wet surfaces. Delivery was as promised. Packaging was sensible.

The tyre does not look as puncture resistant as I expected but when I have ridden my bike several times I will be in a better position to judge its effectiveness. Otherwise , it seems ok and I am looking forward to a longer period of puncture free riding than I have had in recent months.

Having used a set of Schwalbe tyres for my Brompton, I decided to find a set for my old Japanese bicycle at the 27 x 1-1/4 inches size. In my experience this brand and type of tyre holds up very well to the increasingly poor road conditions around outer London.

Bought a pair of these for a vintage racing bike that I am refurbishing. They really look the part being amber walls and fit in well with the period the bike was built. The tread is not too heavy and the materials used make a good quality, well made tyre.

I came across this old bike and thought Id try and get it road worthy. This tyre size was not available in the high street so I looked on amazon (more reliable than ebay in my opinion)and hey presto. Fast delivery fits a treat and well priced.

I was really looking for a hybrid tyre with but 27x 11/4 is not a common size, The tyre is perfect for road use as it has a low profile and consequently low rolling resistance. Delivered very promptly and easy to fit.

This purchase was to replace identical tyres that had been on the bike for over 5 years. Never had a puncture despite riding almost every day. Had to get new ones because eventually the old tyres wore out.

These were ordered purely by looking for tyres at a reasonable price. They arrived very quickly from the supplier and having used them now for over a month, I cannot fault them. An excellent buy.

Although I have not fitted them yet, I am sure that they will not only look the part but do the job on my 1965 Holdsworth restoration project.

I've only been riding on it for a couple of weeks so can't completely assess the puncture resistance, but it's riding and handling well...
