I own a Kona Jake cyclocross which I mainly use for commuting to work. I ride mainly on the road but my commute does take me across a park and also along a dirt track. It is a 30 mile round trip and each leg takes me around 50 minutes.I've been riding on Continental Speedking tyres for the last 2 years and generally they have been ok. They are a bit sluggish on the road but I thought that was down to the tyres being 35mm cyclocross tyres. I like this type of tyre as they take a bit more abuse than smaller tyres and can handle the poor quality roads of South and West London with little trouble. However, the Speedkings were prone to the odd puncture but still not as bad as previous smaller road tyres I have used.A friend at work told me about Schwalbe tyres so I had a look on the net to see what was about. My friend uses Schwalbe Marathons but I chose not to go for them and opted for the CX Comp instead after reading other peoples reviews. Also my friend doesn't use his bike for commuting and more for leisure so his needs were different to mine.I have done about 120 miles on the CX Comps so far and I really like them. They seem so much faster on the road compared to the Speedkings, which is the most noticeable difference. I feel a lot more confident going round bends at speed in the wet now. They also feel nice and sturdy allowing me to hammer along dirt tracks and bump up kerbs just as I could on the Speedkings. My only main criticism is that the bead is a lot thicker than the Continentals and it was a bit tricky getting the tyre to stay in the rim around the valve area during a tyre change. As for the puncture protection only time will tell. All in all this is a great tyre and for the cash I think you would have to look hard to find better value.*****Update 30/05/13*****I've now covered well over 1000 miles on these tyres and haven't had a single puncture. I love these tyres and will definitely get another set when these die but at present these have plenty of life left.*****Update 25/09/13*****Done just over 2000 miles and had my first puncture (back tyre only, front is still good).

I bought these because I ride a mix of pavement, dirt, and gravel. Even if I rode entirely on pavement, I would still recommend these as the best tire. I bought 700x35, however if I had rode more pavement than offroad, I probably would have gone with a narrower width (my rims are 23mm nearest the hubs and have a slight flange to 25mm on the outside). These tires are great. I can lean all the way over and they still grip pavement. I've taken them on moist dirt and they've been awesome. I have not tried them in sand, mud, or gravel yet, but i expect them to do well when I do. They arrived in big huge boxes. I did not install them myself, so I can't comment on that. So far, I've only got about 85 miles on them, but I am delighted with them. I figure these will be the tires I continue to buy as long as they remain available. Seriously, any surface and these will serve you well. They were not cheap but were not expensive when compared to some other options.

I ordered these tyres a year ago to replace the factory fitted Borough XC's on my Specialized Crosstrail. So far I've done just short of 2000 miles on them, changing front and rear once to even out the wear. despite often lugging quite a bit of weight in my rear panniers the rear tyre has seen a lot less wear than I expected. my crosstrail sees a mixture of use from leisurely rides to a bit of sporty off roading (exclusively mud/gravel tracks) to urban commuting and working as a bikeability instructor. Over the last year they've proven to be fantastic all round tyres handling a real mixture of surfaces, low rolling resistance on road, enough grip even for steep climbs off road and good cornering grip.Only one puncture so far and that was a small shard of glass in the sidewall. They can never be the best at everything but they come pretty close to that on a wide range of use, highly recommended.

I'm a recreational cyclist enjoying both pavement and trail riding. Since I bought my road bicycle, I've been using my old hybrid bike on off-road trail riding. I installed a set of these tires to replace the stock tires (Continental 700x32C) on my hybrid bike. The original stock tires are fine, but I noticed they are more road-oriented and tend to skid off while riding the gravel trails. These tires have aggressive tread patterns, thus providing better grip and cornering on the off-road trails. With these tires, I can ride with confidence. As expected, I feel a little more rolling resistance on pavements with these tires than with the old 700x32C stock hybrid tires. The recommended tire pressure is Max 65 PSI,but I find that 75 PSI (front and rear) gives me the most comfortable rides--your preference may be different. Overall, these are excellent tires for off-road recreational riding.

This tyre, made by Schwalbe, appears to be good quality and a good price, about half that wanted by Halfords for a similar one. Time will tell how well it wears and handles. I will try and give feedback in a year!It amused me that it arrived by post completely unwrapped, just with an address label wrapped round it.However, I doubt I will use this supplier again. Despite very good paperwork and pricing it took ten days to deliver completely the wrong tyre! The return was very simple as they gave me a FreePost reference to hand in to the Post Office. Then it took another eight days to send the correct one - that is a total of 18 days from ordering. It should have been posted 1st Class by return. That was slow, even by Amazon standards. I usually use EBay where I get 2-3 days delivery from ordering most times.

I bought these to replace the tyres on my grandsons 'specialized hotrock' bicycle. I still believe they are the best tyres out there. They have a good tread pattern that works as an intermediate and with kevlar puncture protection, should avoid all the pain and inconvenience of carrying around a repair kit. I also like the reflective stripe on the wall of the tyre and should prove itself in low light and dark nights that are yet to come. Overall I rate this product with 5 stars. As far as vendor rating goes, I would buy from them again and although there was no packaging,(just 'Ty-wraps') to keep them together and always a risk of damage to side walls and wire, from other goods in transit,I give them 4 stars, no offence.

I bought these in the 26" x 2" size to fit on my Commencal Combi to replace the split Geax it came with.I use her mainly for a lunch-time 8 miler on the sunken Dartmoor lanes and bridleways, and what a revelation they haver been. Very quiet, much, much lower rolling resistance, decent grip, even on the slippery-stuff, and no punctures yet. She is also used for family outings on tow-paths, blasts across Dartmoor 'proper', and for popping to the shops. For the price these are truly excellent, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone who does not need a full off-road knobbly tyre.

Got a pair of these tires for a MonsterCross bicycle I built from my Niner One9 race frame from last season. The tire rolls well on the lime rock and sand roads I built this bike for, and does not have a serious penalty on the paved connecting roads. So far the cornering is excellent. They are HEAVY being wire beaded and a thick sidewall (480 claimed grams I didn't weigh them), but this is a training bike and I expect to get alot of miles out of them. They are supposed to be puncture resistant, but haven't tested that yet!

The 30c versions of these are perfect for "all road", gravel, or straight up road riding. I was worried they would be hard to push if I just wanted to stick to road, but that isn't the case. They roll really well, but are still wide enough and with a good enough tread on the shoulders to handle gravel. They obviously will slide out a little easier than full on CX 35-40c wide tires, but not bad at all. I haven't had any freaky slide out moments. These are awesome for the money.

Its a Schwalbe tyre, so you know that you're getting a good product.I had been trying for ages to find a 40-622 (700x38c) tyre with reflective sidewall for my bike, so I leapt at this one, even though it had to come from Germany. All the UK suppliers seemed to only have sizes either side or in one case describe the same item as both 700x38 (in the title) and 700x40 in the description!?Item is exactly as described, the exact size described and with the reflective sidewall.

A good tyre. However, they did arrive all folded up so that they could be posted, but they didn't really return their shape. A good tip - don't try and tighten the inner tube nut before putting tyre on rim as the tyre will not fit down the sides of the inner tube where the valve is as it bulges. Put a little air in first and push tyre down on each side by the valve. Then inflate, ensuring that tyre is seated properly before fully inflating and tightening up inner tube nut.

I bought these tyres for my Specialized Sirrus because I kept getting flats on my old tyres (Gatorgrips.) I use the bike for road cycling mainly with a few stony gravel paths thrown in. The roads where I live are very potholed and I think this contributed to the flats I was getting. These Schwalbe tyres are ideal for the kind of riding I do - I've had them about 3 months now and not a single puncture or issue. At the price I paid I think they are outstanding value.

I've put about 300 miles on these tires - mostly bike path, but some trail - use mostly for commuting, some weekend rides, & some rides carry kids in the bike carrier - they do it all well. Seem steady in the rain, smooth on dry pavement, smooth across dirt trails - great price too. I did get a flat on the bike path I commute on - something which hadn't happened in probably 1,000+ miles previously - can't necessarily say it was the tire's fault... but it was odd.

We drive the coat on 2 daily bikes in the city and partly on small forest and dirt roads. The rolling comfort is quite high, so the coarser profile on asphalt is practically not noticeable. Although it does not run as easily as asphalt profiles but the compromise is achievable. On a looser ground, the stability is quite high, especially in fast corners. Since it is also equipped with a reflection strip, I consider it the best all-rounder for mixed trekking.

AMAZING tires! They rode a million times better than the factory tires, but in all fairness they were 15 years old. They handled great on corners and seemed to have a lot more gription on uneven surfaces. And they seemed to sit a little higher. FYI: the tires have an arrow pointing in the rotation direction (think I got it right.)They were scheduled to arrive 4 weeks after I ordered, but was super ecstatic that they arrived in just 7 days!
