My husband has a digital Scalextric track that he has been building up for some time and has invented a game involving 3 cars on the track at the same time. This powerbase is the perfect accessory to manage his game. When I ordered it, it arrived very promptly - way before it was due to arrive and I hid it away until his birthday. I packaged this up the day before his birthday and noticed that on the box it said it required a separate power unit to run the base. I was a bit annoyed at this as it was quite an expensive "kit" and felt that this should have been included. I also didn't have time to get the separate power supply that it said was required. Get the most out of any circuit you build with this 6 car power base. You will need a separate 4A power supply (C7024) for racing up to 4 digital cars, or two power supplies for racing up to 6 digital cars at once. A digital hand controllers (C7002) will be needed per driver too.The software can be upgraded (non Hornby item) to give more control and functions. Can be set to work in analogue mode too, for 2 car non digital racing - making it versatile control for many set ups.

It times your laps down a 1000th of a second, it runs a pacer car for you to race against, and various other clever things. Makes scalextric so much more fun.The interface is not very intuitive but it's so good otherwise it still gets 5 stars

I have been looking for one of these for a while and everyone sold out, not only in stock but a good price and quick delivery, bit fiddly to set up as it is all in pictures but once done works well,

Great once you get the hang of if instructions are bit confusing u tube it gives you a better understanding
