To help other customers, here are the dimensions of the opening for the cat : 17.5 cms x 28 cms. It is a 'larger than usual' cat opening, but that is what we needed for our 'larger than usual' cat, having returned another gate with a flap which the cat found hard to get through. The cat gate has two little silver 'slide down and lock' buttons, which mean once shut the cat gate is very secure. We have two dogs, collies, and neither can get through the opening, though one of them has tried very hard. I think the weight of the dog has little to do with the ability of them to get through the gap, and it is the height and bone structure that is more relevant as both of my dogs are well under 23 KGs.They can obviously easily get their heads and necks through, but no further than the shoulders. I am very pleased with this gate. I already own the non-cat-gate version, purchased to replace a white pet gate, mainly for the colour - I find the clay brown colour suits my home better and is less obtrusive. It isn't the easiest gate to open, as it has to be lifted slightly one the handle has been unlocked, but it is very secure when shut and locked and you soon get used to it. It is a very well made gate, incredibly quick and easy to fit in place and a very substantial height. One thing for buyers to be aware of (the reason why I've removed one star) is that this gate doesn't open as widely as some, tabs on the hinge mechanism stops it a long way short of 45 degrees. I have resolved this on the other gate by sawing off the offending tabs, to get it to open to 45 degrees, though not something I would recommend as it was not easy to do and does leave tiny holes in the plastic (hard to describe).

We bought this gate to help our new pup and our existing cats used to each other, but still allow the cats the freedom of all areas of our house they have always enjoyed.For the first few weeks our Rhodesian Ridgeback (large breed) pup could still get through the cat door, so it had to remain closed, with the cats choosing to just jump the gate if they wanted in/out of the area. However, now our pup is about 17 weeks old (about the size of a Border Collie) she no longer even attempts to get through the cat door. Not that they need separated any more, but it is useful still for closing off the dog's access to areas she's not allowed (like upstairs, or the bathroom - preventing kitty litter eating!).Overall the build seems good quality,and although the access gate could do with being able to open wider, I'm very pleased with the gate. I don't use the end cups/wall stickies as I find the rubberised ends fit tight enough/are clean enough against our walls. It is very easy to install (took only a few minutes) and de-install, which makes it great if you don't want to buy multiple gates, but want the flexibility of being able to quickly and easily move it to different parts of your home, for example if you need to restrict access at different times of day, or when mopping/hoovering etc.

This gate is great and works well for containing our Alaskan Malamute. It is higher than a child gate and of heavier construction including the opening/closing mechanism. We are very impressed and many visitors who are dog owners have commented positively when they see it. Have not utilised the small animal/cat door but it looks robust and has a good locking mechanism tooFast next day delivery which was handy as our malamute wrecked its crate when a puppy and we needed some containment fast. after 3 months of trying to get our dog to accept a crate it kept having panic attacks and would bang itself against the sides until they popped open (this was an expensive heavy duty crate)and only cable ties kept it contained when upset. Used th dog gate on the kitchen door and at night and in the day we have no issues. The dog is a lot happier too.This is a very good product, well built with high quality components.

I'm very pleased with this gate. Easy to install and move when needed and reasonably strong. It's does have a large cat opening so suitable for for anything including main coone (at a slight squeeze if they want to be in there). However that does mean that, as the manufacturer specifies, it is for large adult dogs. I have an English Mastiff puppy and at just over 5 months and 36kg I was finally able to use the gate. If you have a small or mid size then you may be disappointed. If you have a determined dog then it will be possible for them to throw themselves up against the gate and knock it over depending on how you set it up and your type of door frame/wall - you'd need one that screw firmly and permanently into the wall.Mine understands it's a barrier and just sulks outside when he can't go and play with the cat.

I never knew these existed! I did a Google search to find a solution to my cats having freedom and the dog not getting into their space and eating their food! A previous stair gate didn't work with one of my cats as she is either too daft or too snobby to figure out she could either jump over, or squeeze through the bars. She would stand and miow until the door staff (us) opened it for her. I was so excited when I found this! Problem solved! The gate is really sturdy (my pup is 45 kg) and the cats can happily relax and eat without the dog snaffling their food. Fabulous idea!

Dog and cat really love each other NOW so I no longer really need it. BUt.... it was great to keep them apart till they got used to each others smells and the cat relaxed and stopped attacking the dog when it came near him. Good to keep the dog downstairs at night also and stop it jumping on my kids beds so still partly useful.

This is my second dog barrier. They are easy to install, of good quality and substantial without being bulky. The colour blends into the hallway. All in all a successful purchase which suits both cat and dog and person. Delivery was done quickly and efficiently with polite and helpful driver. Thank you Savic.

I needed this gate to stop one of my cats dominating the access to the hallway I may fit a microchip flap (also to control access) and to train an elderly cat to go through a cat flap. I do not have a dog but may pass it on to relatives who do when I have finished with it.

This is great, I already had one but without the cat gate, perfect for when the dogs are drying off in the kitchen or I need to go out and doesn't restrict the cats from going in and out, easy to put up, sturdy and tall enough to stop my Huskies jumping over it

Delivery was excellent, the only reason not 5 stars is that for some reason the door of the gate does not open fully, not sure if this is a design feature or a flaw, would of been excellent if the door had opened fully wide.

Good product. Our dog is large and so we drilled out the cat flap to leave a permanent hole, which is better for us. A clip out option would be good. A bit awkward to open with one hand. But sturdy and does the job well.

Little tricky to instal. Have to keep tightening the top but well made and useful to keep large dog out of kitchen- while letting small dog through. Not easy to open with one hand. Nice neutral colour.

Not exactly wide enough which I knew before hand because it was for a static caravan and not a house with a normal door but a gap but with a bit of carpentry it works wonders. Well pleased.

My cat loves this dog gate, she can come and go as it suits and the boys just get to watch her. It has really made her a member of the family.

Great animal gate. The cat passes through while the dog is kept out (a Labrador retriever). Good colour - a sort of muted mushroom.
