I received these earphones from Samsung for product testing purposes. From the moment they arrived, everything about them was positive, from the packaging and unpacking the items (and the sheer excitement), to synchronising the earphones and using them. As soon as the package arrived, your met with a great quality box with a handle. You slide this off, on removing the tape, and you're then introduced to the magical case and the earphones.I charged the earphones through the case, fully, before using them. The case has 2 lights on either side - the lights are either red or green. Each side represents each earphone, so if you have a red light and a green light, it means one is fully charged (the green light)and the other is not. When fully charged, both lights will be green.Synchronising the earphones is never easier. As soon as I pressed the bluetooth button on the back of the pebble shaped case, my Samsung Note 8 seemed to pick them up and a pop-up appeared on my phone. I selected it and pushed one button on screen and they were synchronised. The fitting of the earphones has also worked out perfectly for me. I'm not sure if I have funny shaped ear canals but I have never ever been satisfied with the way earphones fit into my ears. They're either too loose or too tight - too tight to the point that my ears feel pressurised due to blocking all air and other sounds out. These earphones have taken that worry away for me. The handle looking hooks are there to latch to your ears, so provided you fit them into your ears correctly, they should allow your earphones to 'lock' so to speak, to your ears. Don't worry, you won't need a key or a locksmith to remove them - that's as simple as too.On synchronising the earphones, I proceeded to add music to my phone. My music ranges from Rock and Pop to Hip Hop and RnB, from 80's to modern music. Every single track I have listened to sounds absolutely stunning with these earphones. The clarity is astounding, to the point you can hear every bit of detail. When listening to bass heavy tracks, the bass line is punchy and not too heavy. Listening to 50 Cent, you can hear the detail in his gravelly voice - I cannot emphasise the clarity enough. It really is that concise and detailed. Then you have the technology. On placing the earphones into your ears, each earphone will make a soft and subtle noise to acknowledge them being worn. When you start playing your music on these, one tap of the outer area of the earphones will stop/pause the music, 2 taps will skip tracks and 3 will take you to the beginning of the track (dependant on how much you've played already) or it will go to your previous track. Holding your finger to the touch pad will provide you with options such as BIxby Voice or Google Assistant, start workout and ambient sound (on and off). The latter is only an option if you're already playing some music. You then have the added option of turning the volume up and down by stroking (either up or down) against the touchpad. It takes a little getting used to but once you've mastered it, it works nicely. For example, one stroke down will bring the music down one notch.Whilst using your earphones, you will receive a warning when the battery is running low, you're also notified of when you receive a message, emails and calls. It's really high tech innovative stuff and I am extremely pleased I have had the opportunity to trial these. Lastly, and this to me is an important feature...you can use these earphones independently of any other device, INCLUDING your phone. These earphones have the ability to store almost 4gb of music. You can do this via the Samsung Gear app. Alongside doing this via the app, you can change the sound via the equaliser, which works wonderfully and play around with the ambient sound features - adjust the intensity of this.Samsung, thank you for this wonderful product. It is a huge upgrade to my existing earphones and I won't be going back to them (old earphones) in a hurry. P.S. Forgive my disgustingly hairy ears in the pics!

I've been living with the IconX's for a few weeks and they still continue to impress with their level of simplicity, Galaxy integrated functionality, and overall product quality. Sure you could potentially argue that there are a few earphones out providing slightly better audio quality - but absolutely nothing compares to the features that these little buds give you.First the design - you have a sleek little pillbox shaped box to hold the buds which doubles up as a charger (about 3 charges and charges itself via USB. You also have LED status for each bud plus the dock so you know where you stand. The buds themselves fit perfectly (for me), no falling out or discomfort at all. Pairing and setup.Initial pairing is a doddle - like any Gear device. Once initially paired they will automatically power on and connect once taken out of the case, and switch off when returned. Simple as that - put them in your ears and go.Sound quality - The quality and clarity is really very good across all music types. I'll argue that I'd like the option for more bass/EQ adjustment, but it's really a minor point. There are EQ settings within the Gear app, but I personally only liked the Dynamic mode. You can also transfer music to your buds too, which is neat if you want to leave your phone at home Features and functionality - This is the area where the IconX blows away the competition and stands out. The product pages show what the IconX's are capable of but a few standout points for me... Ambient Sound - Taking your buds out each time someone speaks to you is frustrating! A simple tab/hold allows you to have a clear conversation without removing the buds by allowing ambient sound in (also makes you safer when on roads etc. as you can hear traffic).Bixby - you can activate Bixby via a long tap which is really handy to ask for information or add a reminder, without reaching for your phone. However, 'Hey Bixby' only works if your phone mic is in pickup range (cannot be activated via the IconX mic).Workout - Great feature and definitely not a gimmick. No matter what level of fitness you're at the workout feature will work for you and provide motivation feedback and excercise updates on a regular basis (time based, or each 0.5 miles), and when integrated with the Health App it works really well for fitness tracking, even if you leave your phone at home as it will sync on return. All of the above is fully controllable from the really well designed IconX Gear App!! So if your considering buying I hope this review helps, and I'm sure you won't regret it.

I received these earphones from Samsung for product testing purposes, but these are by far and away the best wireless earphones I have ever used. The iconx are a lot lighter than I would have imagined and super comfortable. They fit very snuggly in the ear (I used the largest of the plugs) and have never threatened to fall out, despite using them while working out and sweating a lot. There are 3 sizes of plugs, and 3 sizes of “wingtips” so a lot of variations to make sure that they fit perfectly. The audio quality is very good for such a small device. The range is good, although I must admit that I have been using them mainly for videos and podcasts, not so much music. But I have never thought that the sound was too tinny. The masterpiece of this set is definitely the case that comes with them. Apart from the obvious function of keeping the earphones protected and safe when not in use, it charges them too. And the case doesn't even have to be plugged in to charge as it has its own battery. I have been using these on and off for about 3 days now on multiple devices, and suddenly realised that I haven't charged the case for a while - but that hasn't been a problem at all. I have never run into problems with a low battery either. The LEDs on the front and back of the case provide a very convenient way of seeing the charging process for the case itself, and also each individual earpiece. I have set these up for use on an android phone (Galaxy S8) and an iphone 6S, an android tablet (Galaxy Tab S2), and 2 PCs (surface pro 4 and a Dell XPS 13). I can quite easily change between devices too now that I know what I am doing :)The touch controls on the side are great and easy to use, even when moving about a lot on a rowing machine with sweaty hands. I especially like being able to use google assistant with just the press of a button and leaving my phone in my pocket. Using these when making phone calls is a treat - getting the great audio in both ears, with a bit of passive noise cancellation with the snug fit, and also still having free hands to do other things at the same time! For me the biggest benefits have been using them in the kitchen while cooking, while in the gym, and while out and about. They don’t protrude out of your ears too much, so it’s not like having 2 old (circa 2000’s) blue tooth headphones in each ear :D In summary, these are comfortable (I've had them in my ears while writing this, without actually listening to anything), convenient and definitely worth the investment.

I recieved these earphones from Samsung for product testing purposes. If I should describe the IconX in one word I would say "Quality".I begin with the packaging, my black ones come in an also black box which at first looks premium. When you open it you'll find a black layer at first with "Samsung" on it. After this there are the IconX with its cradle inside, also in a black layer and this looks noble. At the first look they already stand out to other earphones with its unique design. Also I like the cradle with its design and which helps you not to lose them too fast. You put them in the cradle and push the bluetooth button and instantly my phone found them.I liked that they are easy and fast to install. You have to install the Samsung Gear App to use them with their full functions. And after installing them I put them on and was impressed by the sound this little buds can make. They are loud enough and have good bass but yet they have a great sound quality, too. But I was not really impressed about the battery life. They lasted about 3.5 hours while streaming music from my smartphone. For my personal usage it is ok but the official statement were 5 hours streaming and some other maybe will complain about it. What I dislike at some point is the little touch control. The idea is good but if you have bigger fingers it is hard to use it very well. All in all they are still well designed. Another dislike is the internal battery of the cradle. My tests showed that the cradle is able to charge them one toll two times. That is ok but the fact that they instantly are charging if you put them in the cradle is not. I wish the crab had a switch to turn this function on and off. If you charge them several times a day after listening to music for about 10 minutes each time the batteries will surely be damaged by the time. So the battery life will get worse. But that are the only things I have to complain about. After testing them for a week I have another point of view about earphones in general. I preferred headphones before which goes over the head because my opinion was that only this one will have great sound and bass. But the IconX showed me there are also earphones with great sound. Now I'm more open to pay more for good quality head- and earphones.

I received these Gear IconX earphones from Samsung for product testing purposes. I was very pleased with them straight out of the box. Pairing with my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was easy using the Samsung Gear app and on-screen instructions. When the earphones are placed in the ear from the charging case you hear a sound to let you know they are on, then a chime to show they are connected. Worked every time. They come in a neat charging case. It charges with the supplied cable via USB-C with red or green lights to show you battery condition on the earphones. The case retains a charge to top up the earphones.Noise cancelling is not yet part of the package but the earpieces do cut out some of the outside noise as they are a good fit in the ear.Three sizes of each rubber wing are supplied in the box for a comfortable fit. I wore mine for varying lengths of time, the longest being about 1 hour and 10 minutes quite comfortably. They are designed with working out in mind and connect directly with the Samsung Health app. This records distance and pace without the phone in your pocket. The music/sound is controlled by tapping either ear bud, the ambient sound allows you to know what is going on around you as you train. I am still working on the touch controls and getting the best out of the fitness app.I was pleased with the quality of the music and speech from audio books. I had one occasion where there was a slight break up of sound. Given the size of the earphones and the batteries inside them, I thought the battery life was very good, they lasted for about 8 training sessions in the Gym same as my wired Bluetooth set. However, Samsung researchers have developed a new type of battery material they call 'graphene ball'. They say the technology could enable a 45 percent increase in battery capacity, and five times faster charging speeds. This being the case things can only get better.Overall, I would say a very good set of phones. They are compact, comfortable and easy to use. They do everything I want them to. This is a personal review and based on my requirements and as such I would recommend the Gear IconX for any age groups.

I received these earphones from Samsung for product testing purposes. And this has no influence on my review. So about the pros and consPro: - They are small and lightweight- 6 different silicone pieces to fit any ear comfortably.- Easy to connect with Samsung Smartphones.- Big internal memory storage of about 3,4GB- Easy to copy music into the internal storage- Cleaning tool included- Long lasting battery- Good sound quality- Smart functions- Clever designed charging boxNeutral:- You need additional software to connect them with a PC. (This software is included in the IconX.)Con: - Creating playlists is only aviable via the Samsung Gears app. (Could get changed)- high priceAt first.I dont like in ear headphones. They hurt my ears and i always lose them. But with the additional silicone pieces you can customize them to fit your ears. They are really comfy. And i never have the feeling of them falling out of my ears like i had with the ones i had before. The ear tips at alot to that. They are my first "real wireless" earphones. And they connect really easy and i never had a connection issue with them like i had with a cheap blue-tooth earphones. The sound quality is good for such small speakers. You wont get deep bass but the highs and voices are clear. So you can use them as a high quality headset for your phone.Their internal storage is enough for over 400 mp4 titles. So you can copy music and training manuals on them. To get the software for your PC. Simply put them in their charging box and connect the box via USB to your PC. They connect like a normal mass storage and include the install application. The only downside i found was that you cant create playlists with the PC software. But maybe they change it. But its pretty easy with the Samsung Gears app on a smartphone. And the tap commands allow a playlist change without the need of a phone. All in all again a great product from Samsung. It offers lots of smart features i never had on other earphones before. They are bit pricy. But they are worth it.And they are a great partner for your traning sessions.

I received these earphones from Samsung for product testing purposes. The Samsung Gear IconX arrived in a very sturdy well packaged box with carrying handle.Inside the box were the Earphones, charging cradle, charging leads, three different sized tips and wings, cleaning kit and a quick start guide.Being a man I didn't read the instructions and dived straight into my phone to download the Gear app. They connected straight away and the app was very easy to use, of course I had to look at the instructions eventually to find out how to use some of the swipe and tap features.Initially they didn't fit with the default medium tips and wings so I played around with the additional large and small tips and wings and managed to get the perfect fit. They now fit are very comfortable and stay in my ears. The sound quality is excellent and you have an equaliser on the Gear app to set to your preference, I like bass so mine is set to that. There is also an ambient sound setting on the app which when set lets you hear the surrounding sound. Very good in the workplace when colleagues speak to you and outside around traffic, I think this is an excellent feature for your safety when wearing the earphones.Another excellent feature is the ability to download music directly to the earphones so you don't need your phone to listen to them. You can use USB, Gear IconX PC Manager or wireless transfer to put music onto your earphones. When using your Gear IconX there are various functions available by tapping or swiping the earphones. One tap stops the music, Two taps changes to the next track or answers the phone and swipe to turn the volume up or down. You charge the earphones in the cradle, the cradle is charged by a USB cable. When the cradle is fully charged it will recharge your earphones without being plugged into the wall another useful feature if you are out for a long time. This is the first time I have used truly wireless earphones and if you are in the market for a pair I would highly recommend the Samsung Gear IconX.

I received these earphones from Samsung for product testing purposes and I'm not a native English-speaker, so please be kind :).They are my first wireless headphones ever and I really got to like the "wireless-life", because nothing can tangle up anymore and you can roam around more freely. The Gear IconX have many features of which most are great, like ambient sound so that you can still notice what is happening around you while listening to something, especially while in your car where you can also use them as a hands-free device. Furthermore, they have a built-in memory where you are able to store your MP3's and then listen to them without any other additional device, voice commands and a coaching feature. They have touch controls so you can manage them without your device, some commands are shown on this product page and this works most of the time, but sometimes it is a little imprecise.I'm not a total music enthusiast, however the sound quality was fine for me.I had no compatibility or connection issues with them and they worked with all my devices smoothly (S9+, Tab S2, MU8009 TV, iPhone 8).The comfort of the Gear IconX is also fine and after some getting used to them, wearing them over several hours was no problem at all, here I also want to add that they look awesome at least in black. The charging case functions as a powerbank as well, though you can't really tell how charged it is as it is only implied by the color of a small light on the case <60% is green. There is still some room for improvements, but all in all I would really recommend them if you are looking for true wireless headphones with great features.

I received these earphones from Samsung for product testing purposes. The product contained:2x earpieces1x charging and travel case1x cleaning set2x USB adapters (micro USB, USB-c)3x different sizes for the earpieces1x manual and quickstart guide1x USB-C charging cableand most importantly:0x wires! The earphones do have a great build and sound quality as I expected but most importantly do not have any kind of cable!I really like the classical stylish design which they have and that they are not as big as I thought. You can wear them under a helmet without a problem and they have a good fit so they stay in place even. The touch on the back of the earphones helps you to access the most important features instantly like disabling noise canceling, change track/playlist or start a workout. If you don't want to take your phone with you while running you can easily connect your earphones to your android phone or pc and upload your music to the build in storage which is around 3,4 GB.The battery loads fast and last at least a day for me when I carry the case with me.The noise canceling is really good and filters out the annoying sounds you have to listen to on a daily bases. The only problems I got with the earphones while using them are that the left earpiece randomly drops a little bit on volume (which you can fix by loading it for a short period of time or resetting them) and that there are sometimes short cracks in the audio.Nevertheless, the earphones are really good and I really enjoy using them for every kind of activity.

I received these from Samsung for product testing purposes. I had an idea of what to expect when I received the IconX's. I had seen product reviews and the official webpage. In my opinion they don't quite do justice to the actual product. It is smaller than it looks and is built from premium quality. It paired easily with my Note 8 and connects immediately when taking them out of the box. I initially found it iI kept adjusting the track or pausing the music when fitting them but I locked touchpad, this went away and wasn't an issue. They were comfortable for the most part and often I wouldn't know that I was wearing them. My ears seemed to be a bit sensitive after a few days but this could be because I am used to wearing over the ear earphones.I like the fact they have built in memory for storing songs on the device which means I can use them without my phone. The case is great and easily fits into a pocket. I was worried about the battery life but have experienced no issues at all. They charge once used from the cases built in battery and charging with the usb c is quick and easy. I found myself using them more often than I use my over ear as they are much less conspicuous so I was therefore listening to more music. They were great in the office when I needed to tune out co-workers and focus at the task at hand. They have a useful voice prompt when exercising which updates you on the progress you have made in your activity. All in all I am very impressed as this is a great product.

I received these earphones from Samsung for product testing purposes. Let me just say, these are not your average earphones, they are much more. They are extremely light and on quite a few occasions I actually forgot I was wearing them. I had a pair of headphones before and these earphones just felt like a breath of fresh air. You can store music on the earphones and listen to your favorite tracks directly from the headphones. On each earbud there are touch controls where tapping once, pause/plays the music, twice next track and three times to go back to your previous track. The controls are also able to answer and decline phone calls when paired with your phone. The Samsung gear app on the phone is pretty impressive. You can manage your earphones from here. You can see how much battery remaining, you can activate a personal coach in your left or right earphone, manage the sound (equalizer) and my personal favourite, Ambient Sound. This is perfect for when you are outdoors. You can hear everything that is happening around you while listening to your music. To transfer music, you can either use a Windows PC, Mac and even your phone to transfer music on the earphones just by connecting the wire.In my opinion, Samsung really has done a great job with these headphones and have thought of nearly everything such as the portable charging pod right down to the free cleaning kit you receive and the 5 pairs of replacemenet pieces mesh.

When I bought my last pair of Gear Icon X earbuds last year after thoroughly researching wireless the wireless earbuds available; I instantly fell in love with the quality design, great sound and battery life. The durability was like no other headphones I've owned before, I would literally use them all day every day and they lasted me over a year of solid use before I decided to buy the 2018 version. Some of the minor niggling issues from the previous version have been fixed such as sound on the app reverting back to low volume when the earbuds disconnect, the charger/carry case is smaller which is great and the fit and sound is even better. They've retained the features that worked perfectly such as the touch controls, general shape, they feel the most ergonomic of all the earbuds and thank god they don't have the ugly design of some other big brands! My only criticism would be the build quality of the carry case/charger I wonder if the closing mechanism could be made of a more hard wearing material, the plastic does start to wear down over time and the mechanism starts to cause problems, seems like the new ones may also have a similar issue down the line. All round great product and Samsung truly have become the leaders of outstanding tech design and build, creating an eco-system of technology that enhances our environment.

Disclaimer: I received these earphones from Samsung for product testing purposes.I had been looking into the iconX (and even the gear circle before that) but the price tag and the fact that my ears don´t "like" most earphones (poor fit, falling out, uncomfortable) kept me from buying them. After testing the iconX for a week I can say my doubts about whether they would fit me or being too heavy to be confortable were unfounded and seconds after hitting play on my phone I knew that they were sounding better as my old wired earphones too.I also like the voice command, especially as it´s not limited to Bixby, and the ambient sound option.I would like to see in a future update that I can rearrange the menu option independently for each ear.Battery life is excellent, I highly doubt I will ever run out of juice. As a minor negative I would list the controls, while in theory volume up down sliding your finger up and down on the buds is very natural I found it somewhat a hit or miss, often in the first try I would accidentally pause my music. I probably will keep using my phone´s volume rocker instead. In all the iconX preformed much better that I expected. This second generation iconX is an excellent product and I cannot think of much, other than refining the touch controls a bit, to improve.

I received these earphones from Samsung for product testing purposes, and I have to say that I was surprised about how great they fit my ears! I've been using a pair of on the ear headphones model expensive and another bluetooth in-ear headphones with bendable arcs to keep them in my ears. But none of them fit as good as these ones! For the first time I don't loose bass when lying down while doing bench presses, and I don't need to worry about them falling out while running either.Another great feature is the size. The cradle/storage box with built in charger is so small and easy to carry around that I bring them wherever I go - and that's a first. I never feel that they are taking up too much space, and they do fit perfectly well in any pocket. The equalizer could be better, that's why it's 4 stars and not 5. I have my setting on clear, and that's a really good setting for me, enough bass and clear vocals. Don't bother with the other equalizer settings I would say. Except for that I actually don't have anything negative to say about them, that's the only thing that caught my mind.Since this was important for me, I'll just tell you as well: They work great as a headset! People don't have any problems at all about hearing me, and I've asked a few.

I received these earphones from Samsung for product testing purposes. I was really glad that I did. These aren't your normal pair of earphones, they offer so much more. Sure can use them to listen to music but they offer the ability to coach you in exercise, log it and upload music to them so you are free of your mobile. The buds themselves have a box that can charge them quickly and they have the same fittings as other Samsung products have so easy to charge from usb-c wires. The battery life is great too and no need to worry if you misplace one there is a facility to find them through the app. The app offers the ability to personalise your experience so if you would rather have voice direction or ambient sound as the first option it's yours. And the ambient sound is a great option. It allows you to hear your surroundings making you feel safer in traffic and not have to take them out when people are speaking to you. These are great earphones and shows Samsung has thought through the development of them. Two tips for you, press and hold the Bluetooth button at the back when first pairing to a device so it flashes multiple colour makes pairing much easier and try all the sizes of earbuds and tips for both ears so you get the perfect fit.
