After several attempts to find a set of scales which were sturdy, accurate and a reasonable price, I came across these scales on the Salter Website. I am waiting for two hip replacements and needed a set of scales that were reliable due to having to lose weight for these operations. I am extremely happy to find that these scales weigh me at the same weight as the hospital scales. They will prove to be a great help to me leading up to surgery, my recovery and more importantly maintaining my weight in the future. They come with a 15 year guarantee which is an added bonus. I totally recommend these scales with confidence. confidence.

I had one before and gave it to my partner so had to get another. It's very accurate, easy to use dial to reset to zero if needed. Comfortable to stand on with plenty of room for feet. Only minor niggle is not easy to read individual markings between each stone or kilogram of weight when looking down, but sufficient for me even when on a diet regime as I can see enough to work out if losing weight or not. If you must know the exact weight then reading off the smaller markings may be not so easy.

Great price for what is an essential item for every household. There’s nothing innovative about these. Dial is clear and gives you lb and kg. Not as accurate as digital - cannot differentiate between 1 and 1.5 of a kilo. No batteries required which makes an ideal travel partner, waterproof, sustainable and will last forever. Overall scales are quite large. Foot pad is grippy rubber, quite wide and long for big feet. I have no problems that it is ‘Designed in England but Manufactured in China’

This old school scale was exactly what I was looking for: no more battery wasting! Why doing affecting the environment when you can invest in a long lasting and efficient scale. In addition it has such a stunning design that it looks amazing in my bathroom. My friend loved it so she already got one. From my point of view, everyone should a scale like this one during this unprecedented times during lockdown when you tend to forget about weight. As a result, we neglect our bodies and health.

Old-fashioned and no fancy features - it just registers your weight. But that's what several previous electronic scales have failed to do, usually due to poor design of the electronics and Salter are the worst offender. You have to place it on a hard surface and carefully adjust the zero using a small wheel under the front edge. Step on and off a few times and readjust the zero. To use it just carefully step on and read the dial. It is accurate to within a pound or two and very repeatable.

With a classic look, this is a good basic scale with no fancy add-ins, memory banks, fat % etc. Stand on it, look at the pointer. Job done.Used on a vinyl floor, the readings are consistent wherever you place it.I prefer an analogue scale to a digital one as you aren't fretting over a 1/4 variation in your weight. The digital scales pretend to be far more accurate than I guess they are. With an analogue scale, the needle is 1/4 wide so tiny fluctuations don't show up.

I really like these scales, they are sturdily built and a substantial weight. I deliberately chose mechanical scales for two reasons. 1. I won't need to keep buying batteries, and 2. and most importantly the dial is big with Imperial weights in black and metric in red and I can read the dial without my glasses on. I was tired of having to get off the scales to put my glasses on before I could read the weight. I am very pleased with them and they will last for many years.

looking for scales for my wife who has lost a lot of weight due to heart problems (thankfully OK again) she lost 3 stones in a short time so needed to check on her progress /.these scales( suited our needs perfectly/ we are so glad we chose them/.the numbers are large enough to read easily.the scales large enough to stand on without overbalancing.so all together top marks to Salters Doctor scales and to everyone working at Argos from top to bottom/ thank you

They seem to be fairly accurate from what I can tell and are of good quality, the only thing I would say is that it is very difficult to read them accurately if you are quite tall, the markers are quite close together, so you might have to guess your weight within a pound, if the markers are not exactly on the stone mark or the half stone mark. All in all I am fairly satisfied with them and think they are more accurate then digital ones.

had to purchase an easier straight forward way to get accurate reading as my husband was having trouble with our old digital multi function one. I have to say that I am now in agreement with him as you get a better more accurate reading with this traditional type. There is nothing complicated about it , the stones or kilos are easily displayed . The scale is well balanced, good room on the standing platform and stays steady in use.

Having had several electronic scales last only a year or so, i wanted some good old fashioned mechanical scales with a dial, big enough for a big fat bloke like me to get on. These are great! Only niggle you might have is that being traditional, they are hard to zero,. Yes they vary if you wiggle, but so do electronic scales. I'd recommend these over electronic flimsiness any day, these are fine for monitoring your weight.

I like the fact the platform is large and stable so unlikely to tip up if Steph on wrongly. The only issue I have is I find it hard to read the pounds as they are small and as a SlimmingWorld member and doing virtual meetings because of COVID-19 I need to be accurate so I now take a photo of my weight once on the scales and then enlarge on my phone to see how many Pounds I weigh. Apart from that I am very happy with them

I have always been a fan of Salter scales and purchased a pair of these mechanical scales. They worked perfectly but were damaged by someone. Though only basic parts were required for the repair and I found that parts and repairs are only available via warranty and cannot be purchased.. Purchasers should be aware that damage repair or servicing is not available for this product other than for warranty claims.

These scales have a large foot platform and the dial is above were your feet go, so it is very easy to see, without having to lean forward. They have proven to be very accurate, even compared to the weight from the scales at my surgery. They aren't very pretty or trendy, but they are highly functional.I am very pleased with them & would recommend them, especialy for people with poor balance or eyesight.

What a pleasure to use a set of scales that I can just stand on and get a consistent reading, although I would prefer the weight font to be a bit larger. I have been using a digital bathroom scale of the load cell type. Impossible to get a consistent reading. All depends on where you place your feet and if you are leaning weight on toes or heels. So, well done Salter for a simple mechanical scale that works.
