It just works. Beautifully, simply, efficiently. Takes up a tiny amount of space in the drawer. It's robust, easy to clean. It doesn't switch itself off when you turn round to find another ingredient, like my last one. It can also cope with my 2kg ceramic mixing bowl, which the last one barely managed. The only teeny tiny sour note was that you need a teeny tiny screwdriver to open up the battery compartment. Who has teeny tiny screwdrivers? Not me. I think I ended up using the tip of some very sharp nail scisors to open it.

These scales are easy to use, measure liquids as well as the normal stuff, and give a stable readout unlike my last scales which flicked between 2gm under and 2gm over the weight I was trying for. I'd have given them 5 stars if it weren't for the daft feature of having a tiny posidrive screw holding the battery cover shut so you have to hunt for an implement to remove the battery shield and activate them. My normal mixing bowls fit on the disc but I can see occasions where a container would overlap the edges.

My previous Salter electronic scales had a problem with the display, but I'd had them for 20+ years so I'd had my money's worth out of them! when I looked there were a few other scales which were a bit cheaper, but more detailed investigation showed that most of them didn't have the same max weighing capacity as these and many of them couldn't weigh down to 1gram, quite a few would only weigh in multiples of 7 grams - what's that about? So, I decided to stay with Salter - I'm glad I did

I've never owned a kitchen scale before & needed to get one to track all my food. This scale is just what I need - I love it (sad but true)! It's great that the weight can be reset to zero as you go along, & in fact everything detailed in 'about this product' tells you everything you need to know - it does what it says it does! Also, it's a perfect size (I don't feel the need to put it away when not in use), easy to clean, looks stylish & looks good in my kitchen.Great product :-)

Salter is THE name in household and other scales. I have always found them accurate. This scale is, to say the least, compact, which is a little of a hindrance in that if you are weighing a large amount you have to find a container large enough to hold the product but small enough to fit on the scale.Trouble is with the last two Salter scales I have bought, they give no warning and just stop. Tough if you are in the middle of a recipe!Hope this scale is not going to follow suit!!

Pros: Same classic Salter design, accurate measurement, easy controls, good display, fast start up and reset, tare functionCons: Body and buttons on these scales feels much more plasticky, lightweight and brittle than the previous set. The design is exactly the same, but the overall build quality feels much cheaper. Also note, the battery compartment is held closed by a tiny screw, that can be discarded if not needed, but you'll need a tiny screwdriver to replace the battery.

great set of scales, which are easy to store and use and the zero function is great for adding additional ingredients. easy to read display. has both weight and liquid measurements which is helpful. only slight negative is to get the battery cover off you need a tiny screw driver, which took me a while to realise as there was nothing in the instructions which said it needed unscrewing and some people may not have such a small screwdriver. However as a product I would recommend.

3rd of this model I've bought after carelessness/spills wiped others out, useful if you make stockpot-sized soups because it weighs up to 5kg. Buttons on this are prone to letting fluids in especially if you have wet or messy hands, cut a sheet of clear plastic to make a hinged cover attached at the back with blutack, this prolongs life of the scales if like me you're clumsy. Always been accurate to the gram when tested, takes CR 2025 button battery found in most supermarkets.

Everything I need - the right weight range, compact enough to tuck out of the way, zeroes quickly for adding ingredient, robust enough to survive multiple daily use. All excellent for the price.I'm concerned that the design of the buttons mean that flour or sugar can get in around their edges, and I suspect that before to long it will clog the buttons up, or break them on the inside. This will do for now, but I will consider a sealed surface for the next scales I buy.

I would have been happier with this product if there was an instruction clearly on how to set it to the varies units of measurements.Something like "press button twice then place your item on the scale to get the weight"OR Place your item on the scale then press the button and then select units of measurements. Sadly I haven't been able to use the scale. I had to go to the post office to use their scale instead. Manual scales are way easier to use

Price was okay for a basic scale, however when I say basic there is nothing fancy about this scale. If you have a spillage it leaves a mark on the metal so you have to be careful what you spill on it. Sitting on the counter it has a slight rock. This does not affect the weighing of goods though. If you have a large container it is hard to see the reading of the weight. This also comes with 15 year guarantee so no need to purchase Argos 3 year guarantee.

This is the second set that we have purchased the previous set back in 2006 so it was nice to see it still in production. It's simple to use and changing from ounces to pounds etc is really easy. The only downside is the size it could be just a few centimetres bigger, if you are using a large bowl it can be difficult to see the digital readout and that's why it doesn't quite get a five star from me however, I would definitely recommend this product.

This kitchen scales replaces two others which proved problematic. One was difficult to read on account of a small led display. The second was erratic in use, switching itself off unexpectedly and the change of units facility was difficult .THIS Salter scales has none of thes problems. The display is clear and the two buttons are clearly defined and have sufficient travel to make the selection positive. A little more expensive, but well worth the price.

14.8.2018

Does the job but the display is tiny and not easy to read in low light if a bowl or similar casts a shadow across the LCD display. Selecting grams, millilitres or ounces is tricky without 20/20 vision as the measurement icons 'g', 'ml', 'lbs and ozs' are minute. A backlight would help as on the previous digital scales I had before it died. This one is accurate with a very compact footprint which will suit users with limitations on space.

Bought it to measure ingredients for my new bread making machine. Just place the pan from the bread making machine on the scales, switch on and it automatically zeros. I gave four stars for design and ease of use because the digital display which shows a small 'g' for grams is too small to read comfortably. A backlit display would help too. However I recommend it to others and feel it is a quality bit of kit which I am pleased I bought.
