So my husband and I have recently done a fantastic job with being more active and enjoying hikes, so we thought we deserved an upgrade to our regular running shoes. I recently purchased several shoe brands for myself to try (another review for another time), but my husband only tried two shoes, the Solomon Ultra GTX3's and the Inov-8's Roclite 315's. He would have tried the North Face 110's but wasn't able to find his shoe size online. The Roclite's weren't a good fit for him, but 3 weeks in later and he loves the Salomon Ultra 3's. Since he already owns the Salomon Quest 4d hiking boot, he knew that the Salomon brand was a good quality company, and wasn't surprised with the excellent quality and durability of the shoe.Personally, I also tried an Ultra GTX 3 (I actually went with the Speedcross shoes in the end), and I was also impressed with the shoe's traction, waterproof ability, front toe protection, all while being light weight. He's used his shoes so far on multiple types of terrains where we would normally slip with our old shoes, and he says that the shoes have been great with traction. The only issues he had were that the shoe wasn't very breathable in the beginning, that it doesn't really have any ankle support. We bought these shoes at a great price, but he says he possibly would have gone with the Mid Ultra 3's which have a bit more ankle support. But for terrains that get bumpy, he uses his Quest 4d's anyways. As for the breathability, it just took some getting used to I think, since 3 weeks in he uses them without any complaints. On flat terrain, sometimes he'll leave the laces mostly loose and walk with them that way, which he says makes them a bit more breathable. But even tightened all the way, he says his feet feel fine even after a long hike. So far a great buy and highly recommended.

This is the best hiking shoe you can buy. Comfort and protection galore. I already own the mid also gtx, and have done 12h long hikes such as half dome in Yosemite and were perfect for the occasion with barely any breaking it in. This one is just as comfy but with more freedom of movement for your ankles and obviously less protection in the ankles. I can tell these might be a tad too hot for SoCal summers but I’m in love with them anyways. I’ll eventually try the non GTX either low or mid for the hotter weather but for now both the low and mid GTX are the only hiking shoes I will consider buying. The lacing system is not a problem to me but I just had these for very short time.I also tried the Salomon XA PRO 3D and I had to return them since the stitching inside the shoe by the bone that forms a little protuberance right before the big toe was causing friction and I just wore those at home shortly and could tell I’d be in a lot of pain after even a short hike with those. Glad I decided to go for the ones that I already had in mid, and knew they were the best hiking shoes ever made. I also love the easy lacing since it’ll come in handy when camping and wanting to head in and out of the tent real quick in the middle of the night to go bathroom or any other reason.

This is my first pair of Salomons and I went with them based on outdoor gear labs recommendation when I was looking for a new shoe to replace my Merrills that came apart one week before we were heading to do a bunch of 4-5 day treks in Peru. They were comfortable right out of the box, not that a real break-in period should be necessary for non-leather shoes.As expected, the shoelace tying system took a little while to get used to, and I wasn't sure how I felt about them at first. On the whole, I have grown to enjoy it, as it makes taking the shoes on and off really simple, though I noticed a tendency over long hikes that they come a little loose, and you just have to bend over for two seconds and retighten them.I think it's worth that slight hassle.The grip is excellent, and what led me to the shoe in the first place as hiking in New England we are always on rocks, ledges, and eroded trails, and they are often wet and very slippery.They work very well in this regard. So far I've put about 100 miles on them in the 6 weeks I've owned them and have been very happy overall.

I have not tried them in a long and technical walk, but I have the same model a few years ago and the result has been magnificent, in fact, I still use them, because they endure in good condition for many years, having used them even to run for mountain, although the main use has been for hiking. Comfortable, with good grip, stable and durable. The previous ones had a small catch, and that is that the adjustment system has to be tightened from time to time, I hope that these new ones have improved it, but the days I have been going with them for the moment I have not had to do it, Let's see what happens on a long and technical route.

This is the best shoe for being athletic while hiking. Very, very durable, but still lightweight and athletic.Size: I typically wear an 11 in most shoes but went with a 10.5 in these. Worked perfectly.Laces: I have learned to absolutely love the draw-string. So easy to lace up, it holds forever, and you can hide the strings in the tongue.Traction: incredible. I’ve used these since the hiking for roofing projects and they hold incredible well on steep roofs.Comfort: even the waterproof version of these shoes were not too hot. I used these in the Grand Canyon, and did not feel uncomfortable at all from a hot/cold perspective.

These are the sixth pair of this style of Salomon shoe that I have owned since 2008 and I cannot fault them at all.Lightweight, robust, waterproof, functional, well made are a handful of words and phrases that I consistently use when asked about them.I am normally a UK size 9 but have gone for a size bigger as I've learned over the years that they are quite a neat fit.In relation to this specific pair, they tick all of the boxes in terms of quality, comfort and style. A slightly different colour than what has been available in previous years but I've found they go well with jeans as well as walking gear.

For me, Salomon makes the best damn outdoor shoes. I really like the way they fit. I'm a truck driver and I am in and out of the truck all the time in various weather conditions and walking on different grades. So these really do well in most conditions. Obviously, they are not intended to be work boots but if you are a construction worker you should be looking at Irish Setters instead of tennis shoes. I can get about two years out of these but I wear them all the time. That's pretty good for me. I used to go through Nike and New Balance within months. So yeah, give them a try.

LikesThe fit is great. I have high arches and finding supportive a sole with a well padded tongue is a paramount. These are perfect.The lacing system is great in my opinion. Quick and tucked into the tongue out of the way.The soles are aggressive and do appear to be holding up.The interior material is quality unlike a previous shoe of a similar type (brand starts with an M and ends with L) which shredded within 2 months. This material is holding up very well.Dislikes:Perhaps the only thing would be the bright blue color highlights. Wait, never mind I like that too.

I purchased the shoes for a 36 mile hike. I had bundles of problems with my feet and calves on previous Hikes and was recommended the Salomon Ultra 3 GTX. They broke in following a 3 mile walk and I had no problems what so ever after starting to wear these - just shoes you how important decent and correctly fitted footwear is. The are by far the most comfortable shoes I have worn particularly with the wire shoe laces. I took these on holiday also where I could trail run and road run in them. I like them so much I also wore on a recent city break around Budapest.

Made a last minute order and hoped it would arrive on time given the current climate. Not only did my item arrive on time (dispatched from Spain on 14 April - delivered to me in the UK 2 days later), it arrived in perfect condition as expected and the whole tracking process was very timely and accurate. An absolute pleasure to use this company and they now have my full trust in their items as well as their professionalism in dispatch. The shoes fit perfectly and are very comfortable ymto wear straight from the box. I will definitely be using this site again.

very comfortable shoes with good grip on the contragrip outsole. i ordered a size 44 instead of my usual 43 as i know solomon shoes tend to fit small. these are the right size for me. they feel solid and secure like a rugged outdoor shoe, yet they are lightweight. i have used them for only two short walks on rough wet road surface, up and down hill. they goretex waterproof system seems to work well with the synthetic upper. i'm happy all-round. very good prompt ,delivery and tracking. thank you trekkin.

I use these for everyday use as they are so comfortable. I’d heard and read so many good reviews about these shoes and I can safely say that all of them are true! I also love the colour which makes a change from the usual ‘grey’ style that these usually come in. Initially I was sent the wrong size but after contacting the senders ( SportsShoes.com),who were brilliant btw, I was sent the correct ones. Overall, incredibly happy with these and would thoroughly recommend them to anyone/everyone.????

These are AMAZING and must try them out. A real comfortable trail shoe. Glad I stumbled on this brand.UPDATE: After nearly two years, these shoes are still amazing. Wear them all seasons. Never take them off.Same size as my Nike running shoes. Perfect fit with a little room to spare even with heavy socks thanks to the slick Quicklace system that can relax the shoe like I’ve never seen. Yes they are narrow but the shoe gives a lot. Toe box area is ample and fairly roomy.

This is my second pair of Salomon's and these have small design changes compared to the original design, which are an improvement.My first pair were used as my approach shoes - easier low level walking, but a good sole is always necessary for safety and you need to keep dry feet for comfort. Later on the first pair were worn when dog walking and they served me well in all weather, for a couple of years.I expect the new pair to serve me well for a few years at least

These shoes feel like boots in their solid feel on your foot. Also great for descent as advertised. The fancy lace system that I thought would be useless are actually amazingly effective. In 7 hours of hiking I only had to pull them tight once after putting them on initially. All in all I'm really pleased with these hiking shoes. I had strayed from Salomon and bought some equivalent Meindl but after 4 months have gone back to these shoes and as hoped they are fabulous.
