Used these shoes over the weekend to climb Merrick, which at 843m high, is the tallest peak in South Scotland. It was relatively comfortable on the get go, especially since I haven't really broken then in before the trip. The terrain was as expected going up as we just followed the main tourist path, where it really shone was on the way down we went off-piste. We walked along Buchan Burn and it was certainly a slog of a walk... high tall grass full of holes that were designed to break your ankles. The worst (or best bit depending on perspective) part was as we descended the valley it became a boggy mess. It wasn't helped by the fact that you have tall grass masking the sludgy boggy mess underneath. But the shoes kept my feet dry. Even after falling knee deep into a bog at one point (thanks partly to my hiking trousers that kept the bog away from seeping into the shoe), it was perfectly happy. Removed my shoes once we got back to camp some 8 hours later and I am surprised how it didn't let any of that boggy mess in, and more importantly, it did not look like a sweaty sauna mess. It was dry and the goretex breathability really did its job. It's currently sitting in the garage covered in what looks like a crusty layer of black snot... waiting for a wash after that boggy escapade.Only 2 downsides I can think of:1. I am borderline UK size 8 with my street shoes but I wished I went a half size up to UK size 8.5 for these mainly due to the fact that it has an aggressive profile probably more suited for an egyptian foot profile. I have more of a Greek profile and my little toes were rubbing up against the tip of the shoe. My big toes were perfectly happy though. So if you are on the larger/tighter fit on your UK 8 street shoes, go a half size up and get thick socks.2. They are surprisingly on the heavy side.I can definitely recommend.

Summary:These are the best hiking shoes I've had, completely waterproof, comfortable, grippy and they keep your foot and ankle very secure.Fit:True to size, also I struggle with ankle injury and these basically enable me to hike, they keep joint secure, yet mobile enough to walk comfortable. They are not very flexible - but that's a feature, they are suitable for crampons.Sole:Vibram sole is very grippy and number of times I was amazed how well it kept me on the track, in fact few times I expected to slip and they kept me upright!Waterproof:Waterproof is complete, not just grass, but you can dunk them in the water and stay dry - I tested this not just in action but also in the bucket whencleaning shoes.Comfort:Blisterfree guarantee just works - there's not a single area which would rub or chuff, even when I lace very tight to keep my ankle safe.Lacing:Easy and secure, quick to lace and unlace, once again can't stress enough how secure ankle feels in these.Recommended!

Delivery from Germany to UK respecting the indicated time at the order. The boots were utilised on mixed hilly areas including a shallow river at a southern coastal area of England for around five hours of hiking covering about 17 miles. Could not be any happier - excellent results, no blister neither any discomfort and fully waterproof. came with three fitting options in the form of two additional soft rubber undersoles, one half and the other full length. Rigid soles may seem stiff at first but you will get to appreciate it if you walk on lose rock for the security it provides. Just make sure to couple them with the thickest wool socks you could find

The boots are light, warm and comfortable. They come with a couple of extra insoles to better adapt the footwear to the foot of each one. I ordered my usual size (45) and they fit me perfectly. They are reinforced on the outside and are very safe, as well as GoreTex insulated to keep warm and prevent water from entering. They are also cramponable. During my first use I did a 5h route / "hike" through the mountains and they were very comfortable, despite the fact that I had a blister on my heel. I suppose that in time they will give a little of themselves and will mold themselves to my foot.

I bought this boots to climb the Iztaccíhuatlvolcano in Mexico to ware with crampons, I haven’t tried it already at the mountain. The fit is as expected, I did order it ½ size up from my 9/12 regular size to ware with tick socks; they come with an extra insole so it is possible to adjust it to a narrow foot. They are really confortable and light, but also have good ankle support and good cushioning. Very confortable so far for walking and hiking around, hope they are rough enough for climbing.

These seem really comfortable, with a great sole and seem able to take anything. They are super stiff so great for climbing in technical terrain, and crampon compatible. I did have to return them due to a slight squeeze of the pinky toes (a problem with my weirdly wide feet so wouldn't put this down to the boot) which became worse when I tried on with thick hiking socks, and would have got the next size up but none were in stock. Will put on my watchlist

It is the first time that I buy a semi-rigid boots, and they are perfect to enter the world of mountaineering, they do not hurt, they are very comfortable and in addition to not having transferred any moisture, it is compatible with any semi-automatic crampon, and they fit perfectly, it is usually It has a grip on any type of terrain. The ankle part maintains good support. Without a doubt, the Salewa brand is the best.

I use these boots for doing line work (power lines) in Arizona. These boots are great well rounded boots. From running around on the ground, to working out of my hooks, they hold up and are comfortable. I’ve tried all the other brands typical to the trade, and these by far are the best for me. They breathe good, hold up to the desert heat and don’t feel like I’m walking on solid planks. Highly recommended for linemen.

Iam a professional arborist in the states, been wearing Salewa boots going on 8 years in the field, from the daily grind of climbing and ground control rain or shine hot or cold these boots will forever be a main part of my kit. Sizing is true, super comfy, competitively priced and super fair. No other boots compair in my bool. Can’t wait to see The future of Salewa products

unfortunately only just received these boots, so haven't had the opportunity to test them properly. but feel very comfy and supportive already. i'm sure they will loose some degree of stiffness the more i use them, but for a b1 they seem quite stiff, which is ideal for the type of winter walking i'll be using them for. can't wait to get out and test them. prompt ,delivery :)

Bought for winter hillwalking and ability to take a C2 crampon. They claim to guarantee no blisters. I’ve worn them just twice / a short 2 hour hike and a longer 5 hour hillwalk in mixed conditions- they performed excellently. I love the customisable insoles - a great idea. Lacing system could be better but it’s similar to most 4 season boots.

Ordered these rugged boots for a scramble up New Hampshire’s My Washington, and they were perfect. The trail is very steep and rocky, and the thick soles on these boots were grippy and absorbed all the rough and pointy rock edges with ease. Waterproof construction kept my feet when traversing snow fields and walking throufh the melt-off.

28.2.2019

In the description they have of the boots does not say anything about them, comes something from a pair of pants, so they can change it. I just received my order in a timely manner and without delay. I just tried the boots and they are very robust, they protect the ankle very well and the grip that the sole has is exceptional.

Very good price, just € 170 for an excellent product that behaves very decently in the mountains. They are semi-rigid, so not for winterizing, although they can be relied on at any given time, and they tolerate semi-automatic crampons, and why not say it, the design is very beautiful and gives it a nice and confident look.
