This is a good, secure stairgate although it does have some drawbacks. I will detail these:1. Over secure. This says that it is for babies 6 - 24 months. A child much older than this would not be able to operate the lock. They will learn to climb over it long before they have the strength and dexterity to open it. It is a one-handed operation, but you need to push forward one element with your thumb whilst you lift a second with your fingers and both of these need a reasonable amount of pressure.2. I don't know the technical name of the element that presses up against the door frame on one side and has a screw which slides into the gate on the other, so I'll call it a bracket (see photo). The bracket slides into and does not screw into the gate. This means that initial fixing can be tricky which the brackets falling out whenever they are angled. Once in, it's not a problem. It's only really a concern if you intend to move the gate often.3. There is a tightener on the screw of the bracket. If you move this too close to the cushioned end of the bracket, it's incredibly difficult to loosen again. This caused me a problem as I did not have the tools to deal with this.

Creating a puppy prison is now as simple as one two three Err,, four five six? I forget exactly how many steps to be honest but at the discounted price of fifteen squid delivered to my door made this product a very tempting purchase. It really is dead simple to install, tho if you are a bit of a pleb when it comes to such things then a second pair of hands would be a bonus. The crooked design is excellent as it allows for a great amount of tension which makes it as sturdy as hell. Even our big dog just bounces off it when she tries to break through so a small child has no chance. The full price may not be so appealing to most but I would say it is worth it. The discounted price made it a real bargain so it was a no brainier. The little installation video available n Amazon will be more than enough for anybody to follow. It’s also very easy to adapt for different sized doorways. If you found this review helpful please click the button.

We noe have 3 of these stair gates in our house, they are easy to fit and cope exellently with skirting boards and other variations in your walls. Fitting takes about 5-10 minutes and any tools needed are included in the box. The wall cups can either be stuck on with the included adhesive or screwed in place with the screws and wallplugs, also included. The latch can be a little fiddly at first but once you've had it installed for a day or so it'll be fine.If you suffer from arthiritis or other stiffness in your fingers/thumbs then you may struggle to open the latch as it requires sliding the top section away from the hinges while lifting the bottom section to withdraw the bolt and one of our gates has a slightly stiffer latch than the others. It can be closed easily by slamming,a bit loud but convenient if your hands are full.

This is a well designed safety gate that can either be installed static by screwing supplied plastic cups into the walls and then screwing out the extendable arms on each side of the gate so that they engage inside them; or it can be used in various locations just by screwing out the arms to exert enough pressure against the walls to remain in place. The open/close mechanism is simple enough for an adult to use easily and one-handed (a must) whilst being complicated enough that a toddler can't accidentally open it. Also there are locking lugs at the bottom of the gate that can be swung up into place if desired,to give that extra bit of safety. The gate seems very robust - we have had a 3 year old plus a 1 year old both pulling on the gate at the same time with no ill effect. It's reasonable priced too.

Started out confident I could fit this in a trice as I was replacing an old gate but found the picture instructions lacking when I failed to get pressure at the top. Looked unsuccessfully on Safety1st website for video - no video, no link - then found several on good old YouTube. They made it look easy (including no fixings falling out of gate!) and I couldn't see what I was doing wrong - until I studied some still photos. I was turning the pressure wheel towards the walls instead of the edge of the gate. This is NOT clear from the diagrams. Bingo - secure in 60 seconds. (None of the videos had the actual fixing from my model.)I like that there's a lock for the bottom of the gate as well as the open/close mechanism at the top.My dog will never be able to force his way through this!

Really easy and straightforward to install, although our doorways are quite narrow so it took me and my partner to get them into place - if you have wide door ways it's an easy one man job. It's sturdy, my toddler enjoys rattling the gate - there's nothing more satisfying to him that being impatient when I briefly leave the room. It's not come loose once. It's fairly easy and simple to open and close but not so easy for my toddler. It's low enough that I can hop over it but high enough that my toddler can not.The reason for 4stars is its abit stiff when it comes to closing the gate, it doesn't click in as easy as some other baby gates when locking it.Although im not too fussed personally as once it's locked it isn't being accidentally unlocked.

Product was easy to install. That said, the gate is held in place by two cup shaped discs. These are either attached to the frame of the door with screws or sticky pads and prevents the gate slipping in the door frame. I had thought I could move the gate arond to different locations however this means that you should order extra discs if you want to do this - perhaps something to think about. I was using it as a temporary animal barrier and it appears to be firm. Would not want to risk this with a baby though. The catch is fairly easy for adults to use one handed but I would think it would be difficult for small hands. Do check the size of your door opening as most doorways , in our house, are bigger than this.

Bought as a dog gate/barrier for the home office this fits a treat. The instructions are a little tricky to follow but if you take your time to follow the instructions carefully it's easily installed and secure. Two things to note when installing:on page 6 the four bolts that go in each corner do NOT screw in they simply push in, this is correct. Also on page 6 the circular, knobbly edge tightening discs need to be fitted so the hollow side faces the door frame not the gate. These two things are not explained well in the instructions and from previous reviews have tripped people up or they have thought it was broken/not working. After a bit of figuring it out following these two things works.

We bought this gate to provide a barrier across our back door whilst we have our daughter’s dog with us. Our garden is not enclosed and as he is not safe in traffic he needs to be indoors or on a lead. The gate is ideal for us to be able to go in and out with the door left open in warm weather. It has fulfilled this purpose very well. The only issue is that the open/close mechanism is a little fiddly: you have to ensure that the red/green indicators are very precise to ensure that the gate is firmly closed. This involves lifting the top of the gate to click it firmly in place. It’s a knack- once you’ve cracked it, it’s fine.

Perfect for preventing my puppy heading upstairs alone. The instructions could have been clearer, that said took me about 10 mins to put together using 1x stair gate 7cm extension. Principle is simple four large screw type bolts fit into 4 holes then adjusted to fit the space - either in or out and then tightened in the space. Logical and to be honest once you grasp that it can be fitted very quickly. The extension slides into the main gate once you remove the 2 blocks. Again simple and can be opened one handed so still able to use the other to stop my puppy getting through.

Am using two of these to keep my toddlers out of a study and bedroom with computer equipment in them. I think they are excellent value. They can be a bit challenging to open but that is a huge plus for me as means my kids are not likely to figure out how to open them any time soon (which they did at age 2.5yrs with a previous Lindam gate that now sits in the garage!).Easy to install. I like the feature that allows you to adjust the top sides of the gate without any tools. All round very happy. Would definitely recommend for keeping babies out of bathrooms/studies/kitchens.

With Grandchildren to look after we needed a gate at the bottom of the stairs. Having looked at various options and discounted the ones our daughters have bought, on the grounds of them being almost impossible for an adult to open and easier to climb over(!!), we opted for this which was on offer at the time.It is a great solution. Easy to assemble, easy to fix and easy, (for an adult) to operate.A word of advice - you will benefit from the purchase of a single extension piece for ordinary width staircases, see review posted on same.

We already have a house full of safety first stairgates, when our previous stairgate (not safety first) broke we got this one with next day delivery. It's slightly different to our other safety first gates as you have to push the top latch forward and hold the bottom part to open it. This gave my husband great annoyance as he would try to burst through the gate, ?A little patience and has managed to work it out!Great at stopping little people from getting through, easy to install and thanks to the little rings no marks on my walls!

We use this as a barrier gate to stop our puppy roaming round the whole house. The gate fits securely both in doorways and at the bottom of the stairs. It can be moved from one location to another but this is a bit of a fiddle due to needing a spanner or pliers to unfasten then re-fasten the bottom of the gate frame whereas the top fastenings can be done by hand. The closure mechanism fastens with a solid click and can be unfastened one handed with a little practise. Good value and does the job we bought it for.

Looks good and works. Baby couldn't pull it off -- at least hasnt managed yet! In my situation, I needed to screw an extra upright to the bottom of the stairs; and I needed Wall protectors (used the ZWOOS ones) on the wall side of the gate as my plasterboard walls are like soft cardboard. Works fine now. Try to leave the gate in position -- it would be a faff to keep taking off and replacing correctly. But its so stylish I dont mind having it there all the time although the baby is only here now and again
