I have a 29 year old daughter who is very profoundly disabled and has no means of protecting herself. Over the years I have tried many bed guards and this is by far the best one I have purchased. I haven't physically measured it but it seems longer and higher than the standard ones and it is sooooo easy to put together, unlike one of the main high street baby brands that I have struggled with time and again, and that is such a bonus as inevitably they snap as I am just about to put my daughter to bed. It is easy to operate, mostly steel support and has extra support for holding the bed guard in place under the mattress. It is supported by the weight of the mattress and with an additional strap which fits round the bed frame (or mattress if you prefer)to provide a firm hold and stays in place. It is so easy to put together (and take apart for transport in the bag provided) that I will buy another so that I can take them away with me to use in hotel accommodation . At the moment I have to ask for a mattress to be put on the floor for safety reasons (even in the best of hotels) as beds are often placed away from the wall and not easy to move! Would most definately buy again.

Does the job. Easy to use. Only one complaint: Be careful to insert the upright poles the correct way or, without realising it, you will combine them in a way that the hinge will face towards the bed. You have a 50/50 chance to get this wrong. The instructions don't even mention it. If you get it wrong then the rail won't open fully. It will only open to a 90 degree angle (and you want it to open 180 degrees so it lies flat down against the side of the bed for easy access). If you get this wrong you will have to partly disassemble it and reassemble it the right way round. Not a big task, only a 5 minute job, but fiddly and unnecessary. You have been warned!I recommended this rail to my friend,he bought it and I called him to explain the above point, but it was too late - he'd already made the same mistake I did and he had left it as he thought it was meant to be that way! His kids had been scrambling over the outstretched arm! (Dangerous and completely unnecessary.)Note to makers: add a sticker (or something!) to the front poles that says "this way forward" so people can't make this mistake.

Used on a Mamas & Papas Sienna cot bed (70x140cm mattress)I scoured Amazon for the right bed guard as I didn’t want the faff of returning etcThere were so many conflicting reviews it was annoying.Fortunately I made the right decision. This is very well made, flips down and feels very secure! The guard sits recessed into the frame and still flips down as it should, but I tend not to use that function.Much more secure than the Safety First one looks. It tethers on the other side of the bed, within the slats, and has a frame section that sits neatly under the mattress.Comes with a bag for travel. My partner didn’t struggle one bit setting it up so we’re very very happy with it.I love the fact its white as its on a boy’s bed at the moment, and will be on a girl’s bed next. If I was being fussy I’d want cream but its neutral enough! The only problem you’ll have is your little one springing out of bed with the new-found freedom! The Gro Clock works wonders for us!

Ordered this for my king sized bed as we co-sleep with our 7 month old (note the product says for 18 months to 5 years, but once fitted I can't see any obvious reason this would be unsafe in a supervised situation, ie co-sleeping; no gaps between the guard and mattress, etc), who is increasingly mobile and has nearly rolled out of bed a few times now. A lot of bed rails say they only fit single beds, and it wasn't clear if this one would be the same, but the instructions it came with say up to 155cm, which includes UK king, so it fits great. Our mattress is an extra deep one, so this one provides maybe 6-8 inches of guard above the mattress, but that's enough to stop accidental falls when baby is lying down.Looks as nice as you can expect a bed rail to look and comes with a little carry bag to transport it, which is really useful if you co-sleep and travel!

I was pleased with this as is already tried another safety rail that didn't work. It was for our cot-bed converted to a toddler bed. The first one I tried said it would fit a slatted bed base but it didn't work, as the edges of the bed base were too high (sunken bed base) and so the rail couldn't be swung down (the joint was too low). The Safetots rail has a higher joint allowing it to clear the sides of the sunken bed base and gives good access to the bed. On our cot bed it does extend at least three quarters of the length of the bed. I also like the fabric nature of the barrier- softer when my daughter rolls against it, and more comfortable when sitting on the bed with your legs against it.Lastly, it breaks down into various metal tubes and the fabric panel which fit into a travel bag that is pretty small.

I did quite a bit of research, and many people gave bad reviews on the rails that relied on the weight of the mattress to hold it in place. I have a super king bed in which my toddler sleeps with me, therefore, I needed a rail that offered secure support. HOwever, I was not sure that I would get one that would fit a super king bed (most were made for singles or doubles). However, this has an extendable strap that hooks over the middle of the bed (it is 2 divans joined together so this strap was big enough to reach the center of the bed). It works a treat, and beforehand, she was purposely slipping herself between the rail and the bed. So one without this strap just would not have worked. SO yes, highly recommended.

I was looking for a simple and elegant bed rail, in White that was also easy to install. Many of the ones I looked at had adjustable legs to fit each bed and some didn’t fit slatted beds and some didn’t fit toddler legs so I wasn’t keen on any of them. Some brands also didn’t do white and only had pink or blue or grey, so I found the search hard. I came across this one which was the easiest bed rail to install and the legs didn’t need extending. It fits our toddler bed perfectly and doesn’t move at all! You can see by the photo I have provided it fits and looks nice in white. Couldn’t recommend this bed rail enough, great design and good make.

The metal frame of the guard is solid when built, but it does take about 5-10 minutes to put together. The fabric that goes over the side of the guard is durable but is a bit rough and makes a crumpling sound when moved or rubbed, which makes a noise when knocked in the night – a softer fabric would have been preferred. There are straps which you attach to the back of the bed to keep it secure, however I found the straps complicated to adjust and I can't seem to get them tight enough.I would buy this product again as the price is reasonable for the product despite these points.

I bought this for my elderly father, who was constantly slipping out of his bed during restless sleep. The bed rail has been a godsend as he can know spend the whole night safe in his bed as the rail is sturdy enough to ensure he remains put. The rail drops down neatly to get in and out of the bed, and as it is placed under the mattress, it remains firmly in place. The instructions for construction are fairly poor and the images offer little help. However, this only needs to be done once and with some perseverance, it didn't take too long. A very good purchase.

Looked at lots of options and read all the reviews, decided to go with this one and glad we did, we have it on our king size bed for when our toddler ends up in with us (most nights!). Really stable, he leans on it and it never budges even though we only have a thin mattress. The only fault is the fabric catches a little when you lift it up and down so be careful not to rip it. We just wriggle round the sides of it so not a problem.

Does what it's meant to and luckily the little one stays asleep whilst raising it and that's where it needs more development. The fabric gets stuck on the pivot mechanism which makes it strain and stretch when you're raising it, very loud in a quiet room with a sleeping baby but as he manages to sleep through it it's ok, just needs something to hold the fabric in place.

I used this on a cotbed for my 2 year old toddler and it does a great job. I did have to use masking tape to secure it to the bedframe as the cot's mattress isn't heavy enough to keep it in place. My son has definitely tested its sturdiness by pulling and tugging at it and it has withstood it all!

This is perfect for moving a little one into a single bed. Peace of mind that my daughter is safe as she is still quite young and moves and wriggles a lot in her sleep. Easy to assemble, folds down for easy access to the bed, used on a slatted bed base with slightly sunken mattress.

19.3.2016

It's good and sturdy, only downside is its loud when clicking up, my daughter falls asleep without it on and I put it up once she's asleep and it's difficult to do without waking her, it was also a little confusing to set up but a bit of messing around and I got there in the end

The delivery was very prompt. I bought two, one for each side of the mattress. Easy to follow instructions and put together. Feels very sturdy. The additional strap grip on the underside, that fits to the opposite side of the mattress to stop it slipping out is a good idea.
