Okay, Ryobi - not high end? Well, I dunno. Some of the stuff is a bit rubbish and I've had it, but honestly, all of the hand tools I've had are excellent and over the last seven years of being utterly abused as I've been renovating a house have worked perfectly even when dropped from the second story of my building site. In all that time only one battery has carked it as well despite the daily use.And so here we are at a cordless router. What a great thing. Really. At last count I have six routers. A couple of 1/2" for the bigger stuff and one 1/2" fitted to a bench and three 1/4" ones for light work. All are mains powered and useful especially as I have each one fitted with different but regularly used bits.But....not having that cord makes life so much easier. And a battery router makes a lot of sense. Because the bits are not huge diameter the need for epic torque isn't there so you can get really useful life out of a cordless router. Without the utter pain of dragging a cord around.Build quality is superb. On the outside at least. That said, over the years I've been buying Ryobi I can see an upward curve in standards - and price of course. And Ryobi is owned mand made by the same people who own and make AEG, Milwaulkee, Hoover etc. You are not telling me that the Hong Kong owners are using different tooling for the same gear. Different colours maybe.Anyway, this tools is well made and feels it. Robust and nice to hold in the hand - despite the admittedly top heavy look. The adjustment and clamp is excellent with easy operation and adjustment. Almost as good as the more expensive and undisputedley high end Makita - which I have compared this with because my son has it. I admit the Makita is better - but not by much. And when you already have the batteries this is a no brainer. In use it works excellently. In the picture I have tried this out on a very well dried out bit of English oak board which is damed hard to cut. This didn't bog at all and cut just as easily as my 1/4" corded router.Overally a great bit of kit.

I'm a Ryobi fan, I have the drill, sander and now this trim router. I decided to renovate my lounge, out with the old naff painted skirting and door and in with solid oak stuff. Having never hung a door before but determined to do the job myself I was faced with the challenge of rebating the space for the door latch facia plate and socket. This tool made the job easy. It was a simple matter to adjust the router to the correct depth and taking GREAT CARE it was quite straight forward to stick to my pencil outlines while routing the space. PRACTICE first on a spare bit of wood and watch the YouTube reviews so you get the hang of it..... take your time and get into a comfortable position. The LED lighting at the business end of the router helps but I found additional lighting was also useful.....younger eyes might not need it! Yes, I could have used a hammer and chisel, much cheaper, but this tool ensured an even cut across the whole space to be be recessed and it helped save me employing employing a 'proper man' as the wife calls it! As always, MEASURE THRICE, CUT ONCE!!!!!! Final point, it doesn't, of course, cut square corners, so you still need to make a simple small cut with a chisel to give that 90 degree corner.

Used primarily to rout door hinge rebates using a Ryobi A99HT2 Door Hinge Installation Kit. Depth adjustment is both easy to set and very accurate. LED light and Perspex guide plate makes it very easy to see where and what the router bit is cutting. Body is beautifully ergonomic which encourages great hand control.Made my own door latch strike plate jig out of scrap wood which works really well.Absolutely brilliant!Slight niggle is the location of the on/off switch which is away from where your hands are holding the tool but it’s by no means a deal breaker.Be aware though that this is NOT a plunge router so any cuts made that do not start on an open edge will need a starting hole for the router bit to fit in BEFORE YOU TURN IT ON otherwise it will fly off.Likewise get in the habit of turning the router off before lifting away from your work.

Im a bit of a Ryobi fanboy and i have a range of tools that all use the ONE+ battery - i bought this to trim the hinge section and door latches on some new doors in the house, works a treat and a much nicer finish than trying to chisel them out.I have messed around with edging some wood and it looks great, im sure you can do some super cool woodwork projects and i will have a go when i have my new mancave. There are some excellent Youtube videos available for anyone wanting to know how to make use of this quality tool.

Delivered bang on time.Used it a few times and did the job well. It was much more accurate than my old router which had too much free play and very often ended in a few mm of error misalignment. This one do not have that free play at all. Although this one is designed only for side cut and not plunge cut but it is in the name and specificaion.Easy to adjust the depth of cut with the knurl screw. Good kit. I use the battery from my other Ryobi One tool and last much more than my needed cutting time.

Wow, 29,000 rpm! Good huh? Well, it turns out, no, this isn't so great. Why not? Because there is no speed control. And router bits are all speed rated. Even a chamfering bit requires max 18,000 rpm. And this is exactly the sort of operation I thought a router like this existed to perform. It can do it, but it's at your own risk if you use a router bit that might come apart on you at 29,000 rpm. I am disappointed tbh, and only now when it's too late do I realise why other brands all have speed control.

I have several routers and a router table which are great but take time to set up, OK when doing a lot of shaping but this is easy to set up for smaller jobs like rounding edges. Bought it 18 months ago to replace a Bosch hand held which expired and it made sense to try One+ as I have several tools and batteries. It could do with a speed controller but used with care and a steady hand works very well and wouldn't want to be without it.

Awesome bit of kit. It has plenty of power made me able to do jobs I would have been able to do with out. First router I have bought and it’s a doddle to use. Good for beginners. Only niggle is the adjustment wheel numbers are in imperial it seems and measurement for depth is mm. being part of the metric generation it’s a niggle but other wise it’s good. The only accessory this is missing is a plunge adapter which would be handy.

Awesome bit of kit. I’ve got a number of the ryobi one tools so bought this to add to the collection, comes with the guide as well which isn’t mentioned in the description. My only criticism would be that with all my other ryobi tools is that you can store the hex key on the item somewhere, this comes with a spanner which could be clipped to the side to prevent it being lost in a tool box.

At the £60 odd quid I paid this is an absolute bargain. It's powerful, has a light, fence, easy fine depth adjustment. The fence rails screw in which is a pain if you want to keep your setting but remove the fence and reattach later. Fine adjust on the fence would have made it perfect but most trimmers lack this. Recommended.

Amazing trim router, match it with a 5.0amp battery and there’s no stopping it, I’ve had a great experience with it so far and the fact your legs aren’t tied up with cables is a god send. The only downside is that Ryobi haven’t made any dust collection or vacuum attachment options, other than that I’d definitely buy it again!

Having never used a router before I was a bit nervous. My first job was to let three hinges into a brand new door. I needn't have worried because it made the job so quick and easy. The tool is light , ergonomic and moves along very smoothly. With it's fine up and down adjustment and guide it is perfect.

Fantastic piece of equipment. It's easy to use, has been very reliable and feels like a sturdy piece of kit.Is it the best? No idea, I already had the batteries and wanted a small router so I'd stop tangling myself in cables and this has met the requirements for me.

Bought this to complement my plunging router. Compact and lightweight compared with my plunging router. Well made and easy to use. Produces a nice clean cut which is ready to paint without further sanding. Good addition to my growing collection of Ryobi One+ tools.

This is an good DIY/Hobby device, especially for the money and does a good job. It’s not as robust as a comparison to other (much more expensive) devices I have used, hence 4 stars. But if you have other Ryobi ONE stuff then this is a good addition
