I had some of this stuff many years ago, thanks to a trip to Guatemala. Lovely place, lovely people, great food and drink. Over the course of three weeks in Guatemala, everything I ate and drank -- with the exception of one meal -- was excellent. (For example, huevos rancheros in the Guatemalan style is tied with the Full English as the greatest and most varied breakfast on Earth, in my opinion.)And then there's Ron Zacapa Centenario, which is in a league of its own. The smoothest, most delicious rum I've ever drunk. Subtle, warming, and satisfying, and also ever-so-slightly like brandy or bourbon, which comes from it being aged in cognac casks. If I were to get synaesthetic about it,I would liken it to drinking alcoholic silk. It truly deserves all the praise it collects. Straight, on the rocks, mixed into some Guatemalan hot chocolate, or in a cocktail, this rum works in all situations, and does so beautifully. I cannot recommend it enough. And when I found out it could be acquired on Amazon, I waited until payday so I could indulge myself. I will be savouring this bottle for months with a massive grin on my face. Yes, it's fairly expensive. And it might not be to some people's taste. But as far as I'm concerned, it's worth every penny and a 22-year wait.

Simply put this is the best rum you can buy. Ever. There is no other like Ron Zacapa. Just add a few cubes of ice and enjoy, it needs nothing else. that would be sacrilege. Ron Zacapa XO tastes like the mountains of Guatemala, and is distilled with organic homegrown can sugar rather then the traditional molasses at the highest altitude above the clouds giving it a Superior quality and adding richness to the intense and decadent flavour. It uses a blend of aged rums and you can easily depict the notes of the sherry, congnac and whiskey casks. There is a lush sweetness to combat the raw intensity of the rum, followed by balanced heavy spice and vanilla, orange and heat yet undoubtedly smooth. To top it all off the master distillers are women.Indulge yourself and others with this fantastic and delicious masterpiece.

Similar to another reviewer, unfortunately the product arrived with the presentation box damaged. Not quite as bad, but still more than just a little dent which is far from ideal when buying such an expensive product as a gift for someone.I also noted that the exterior boxed was not damaged, and so clearly this damage happened before the product went in the box, which seems very poor from Amazon, considering how good they have always been in the past in my experience. Can't fault the rum thankfully though!

Great taste and terrifically beautiful presentation. The price holds it back, but its worth treating yourself too if you're on a mission to taste lots of different rums. If you're concerned that the price is too high Zacapa do have cheaper variaties, if you enjoy those then you will enjoy this too. It might be worth trying one of those first. The taste is clean and strong, its a dark rum but doesn't push as far as gunpowder or demarra rums. It manages to remain smooth throughout.

This is one of my favourite premium rums when I treat myself now, I'm on my third bottle and it definitely earned itself a permanent place on my top shelf along with my Appleton 21. I'd say it's the smoother of the two and also sweeter but not overly. It really goes down easy and is a very enjoyable Rum. The bottle and packaging are also amazing and definitely do justice to the premium rum inside. Highly recommend.

My husband first tasted Zacapa on a Caribbean cruise. Since then he hasn't looked back, and it has become his preferred beverage, while he relaxes listening to his favourite music selection through his headphones.. He firmly recommends the two paired together to transport you to another place in time, another level of satisfaction and gratification. One of complete appreciation for good taste.

I'll keep this review short and sweet. I have been collecting and tasting rums over the last few years. I have not tasted them all but so far, Nothing comes close to this. Not even nearly. No ice. No chaser. Just a smooth rum that goes down a treat on its own. If you can afford the extra few ££ it will cost you will not be disappointed. I keep a bottle on in my drink cabinet at all times.

Yes it's expensive. Yes it's worth it. I bought this before I really had a collection which meant I went through it quicker than I should have. You'll hear some say it goes away from what rum should be as it does have a lot of added sugar but I like to judge a drink on what it tastes like rather than what it's supposed to taste like and it's unbelievable. So rich, so tasty, so moreish

Ron Zacapa is truly the king of rums - I didn't even realise I liked it until I tried this in Guatemala. On the other hand - well it's not cheap, is it; there might be something to be said for buying a rum at <£20 instead, and donating the balance to safepassage dot org, thus helping to transform the lives of the street kids there ..... maybe give you a better after-taste?

Arguably the best rum on the market. It's so smooth, that you'd be forgiven for thinking that you're drinking a beverage with a lower ABV such is the quality and refinement of this drink. It's also very more-ish though you really ought to savour the flavour as much as possible, all the while admiring the rich viscosity.

Tasted for the first time at Sugar Hill in Jamaica and was floored by how smooth this was. The flavours develop beautifully on your palate but the burn associated with other hard liquor never arrives, making this my new drink of choice. My bar will always be stocked with a bottle as it's worth every penny.

This is a great rum which has to be savoured. Served with an ice cube in warmer weather and without when it's cooler there is no rum I have found so far which I enjoy as much. Yes it's not cheap but if you monitor the prices there is quite a bit of fluctuation and you can get a relative bargain.

I have compared with head to head with the standard Zacapa. Tasted blind I couldn't really say that one was a lot better than the other. I love them both, but why pay twice the sum of money if you cannot tell them apart? More sophisticated and discerning palates than mine might disagree!

For anyone who loves a strong smokey rum its a great drink...probably would go well with a cigar....For anyone like myself who doesn't have the appreciative palate for Single Malt Scotch Whiskey, this is an alternative. Similar in many ways except for that distinct malt after taste....

I have been an avid rum drinker for years now and this is by far the best rum i have come across, it is pricey but bars are charging £12-14 a dram so getting a bottle under £90 is very well priced. This is by far the smoothest rum I have come across and it really is worth it.
