For years I have been working mainly with GITZO and MANFROTTO. Superbly expensive, but great stuff for earning a living with.I do not earn my living as Photographer anymore and just need gear which I can trust, carry easily, does a good job and can be paid without having to get a 2nd mortgage. Looking at this I felt the ROLLEI it could be the right decision.Although there at x - tripods our there looking the same, I chose the Rollei because I know Rollei as quality brand since I was a child and they always had products of best quality under their name. But, of course: this is a product from far-east and not ''ROLLEI''-Germany or purely ''made in Germany'' Product - those times are well and truly gone.Saying that, first impression of the Tripod is excellent: good, solid build, clean finish, easy handling and anything that can move ( ball-head, fixtures and closures) moves very nicely, has no wobbly imperfections or cheap feel to it. Clearly Rolley has implemented some of their traditional Quality control into this product. The Ball-Head easily can handle the official 14kg limit - in fact I believe the head is the strongest elements in there. It is STRONG and so smooth....All important elements are well finished metal, made for good and long-term us ( And: whole bag of metal bits and spare pieces, allen key etc. come with it!). a few pieces of plastic are only in places which have no impact on the overall ruggedness of the product - like the closures you turn to fix a leg in height.the inside of the plastic grip is metal, plastic is cover only. The tripod is fairly light weight and can be carried in it's bag (which is of very good quality!) - easily a whole day if necessary.Handling the tripod, extending the legs, adjusting height, etc. all is very smooth and makes a good, solid impression. Finish is great, no unfinished alloy edges or brows that cut your skin as I have seen on other low price products.Standing up full height without the middle extended you get a surprisingly sturdy base, I use it with my old F3 plus kit and the Nikon D7200/Battery-pack and long lenses (of which there also are a couple of the real heavy 'Tank - style Nikon's from past days of the 80's) - all is solid, no wobble and if you need to have more stability in windy situations - tie a rock to the hook in the middle and then it is ''Rock-solid''. If you use the mid extension to maximum height you of course will occur more movement due to basic physics and price range - it is NOT a GITZO.BUT it is a ''real'' ROLLEI!Saying that: if you really need a more solid Tripod in this size-class you can also use for any form of war-action - you will have to shell out 3-5x more to get a Gitzo which will probably still be around when you are ''gone''....For this money and for the use of an Enthusiast in every day life it is great and absolutely sufficient for most camera setups within the DSLR or 135mm range. I even - just for fun fastened my old 6/6 Hassleblad on top - close to 6pound the camera body alone - the ball head and the tripod didn't pass ANY HEAT... I bet they would have smiled mildly at me if they could....-Got it in Orange - love it. Is not paint, but ELOX. so no peeling of when being ''battered'' - seriously ''good-looking'' if that is in any way important....I recommend this Product - you can trust it.All in all I am pleasantly surprised and can only recommend it.

This is a perfect stand a bit tedious to turn into the mono but still fairly easy, also works great with the iPad (extra separate purchase) and zoom meetings.
