This is a review for both the A4 and A5 (notebook and executive pad), ordered separately.Firstly, I’d like to caveat this review by stating the reason for my purchase isn’t a ‘save the planet’ one; I just got so fed up of having a dozen writing pads of varying sizes scattered all over that it was making my notes harder to organise. The ‘save the planet, use less paper’ aspect is definitely an added bonus.I initially did some research last year (2018) into these reusable, erasable, cloud storage notebooks, but the majority (including another version of Rocketbook) were all the microwave variety. This really put me off as my microwave will not fit a A4 book, and quite frankly,I don’t like the idea of putting stuff like that in my machine. So at that point, I resigned myself to writing on numerous pads and using One Note (when connection permitted). Then a couple of weeks ago, I just thought I’d look again, and I found this. Granted, this was probably there all along when I was originally looking, but obviously got lost in the ether of the microwaveable ones.So I took the plunge and initially ordered the A5 version. I admit, I was quite sceptical about this product, but let’s be honest, Amazon’s return policy is second to none and they are amazing at sorting out any issues. As a Prime member it arrived the next day sealed in its own bag with the Frixion pen and cloth, and protected by the external jiffy postage bag.First appearances, aside from the tiny splodge of missing colour on my cover that I can live with, I like it. I don’t really know what I was expecting, but when I read the Amazon description page, it really does appear more complicated than it actually is.Before you do anything, you need to register to the Rocketbook app, then in your account, you can assign your email address, Onenote, Onedrive, Dropbox etc to the different symbols. To keep it simple, I’ve only assigned three of them as they are all I use, but the example sheet included in the book shows you how you could use these for different subjects if you are a student, or different aspects of your work if you are using this professionally. My is purely personal/side job use, so I don’t need to use all the options. There is also a checklist at the front where you can write the external cloud against the symbol to make it easier to remember.Once you have these set up, it’s basically write away (with the pen provided), cross the symbol at the bottom indicating where you want it to be sent, open the RB app, take a picture and upload it. Depending on your connection speed, within 5 mins it will appear in your choose cloud app. It is fairly basic, but it beats having notepads lying around all over the place – or, worst, losing a notepad with your precious writing/school work/real work in!I’ve now had this a week and I’ve found it easy to upload and wipe clean. I haven’t experienced any of the ghosting issues some have mentioned. Nor have I experienced the ‘scratching’ some have also commented on. There are some aspects I would change, such as a few more pages, and integrated pen holder in the binding, rather than the extra one you have to pay for, as this just makes it slightly bigger. The app isn’t particularly intuitive, but it does what you need it to do. Let’s not forget that this is just a notepad and even if you don’t want to upload to cloud, provided you use the erasable pens, you can just use it as you normally would. It isn’t the cheapest of items, but if you consider how much you will spend on decent notepads over the course of a year or two, in theory this should last forever (forever might be pushing it - at least 10 years in my opinion)!Would I recommend this? Absolutely. So much so, I subsequently ordered the A4 version too.

• PRODUCT: Rocketbook EverlastThis is an exceptionally well-made product, which does everything it promises. The notebook feels great and the special coated pages are smooth and just wonderful to touch. Packaging is beautiful and sleek. Almost didn't want to tear it open. Additionally, the package comes with the Pilot Frixon Pen (Black), and a high quality microfibre cleaning cloth. The cloth needs very little water to dampen when erasing your notes; a couple of drops.• UNBOXING: Rocketbook EverlastWhen taking it out of the package, the notebook by itself may feel light, but don't let this deter you from its quality. The 16-sheet (32-pages) book is quite sufficient for most note-taking activities. It also comes with a handy instruction leaflet (one double-sided square card with clear and succinct information on the product and setting up). The Frixon pen is to the right of the package when facing you, in its own compartment. The package comes with a resealable zip to store your notebook. The microfibre cloth comes wrapped in its own disposable plastic packet.• APP: RocketbookThe app works like velvet butter. (1) Download the app (search for ROCKETBOOK), (2) create an account with your email address (it takes 30 seconds and they don't bug you with unnecessary questions) and (3) assign an icon to an online service to send and store your scanned notes. That's it, you're good to go. The app connects with a variety of online services including email, Google drive, Evernote, OneNote, box, slack etc. But the best part is the camera. When you snap a photo of your page, the app auto-adjusts the image into a perfectly aligned scan. No adjusting in post. It's really quite impressive. Once done the app takes you to a send screen where you choose which service you'd like to send your scan to. This thing can be used as a scanner — the alignment is very precise.• PRICE: Some may find the price a tad high but that's more of a qualitative decision. I felt it's totally worth the money, having paid around £32 including shipping from the Amazon US Global Store.• PROs: Does everything it says and comes with everything you need (that's as perfect as any requirement)• CONs: Honestly, I couldn't find anything that qualifies as a proper con; my notebook was a bit dusty, and one of the corners had extra bits sticking out but negligible.• FINAL WORD: Get this notebook if you're into this sort of tech; you'll be happy you did. It's fun, easy and just puts a smile on your face :)

I purchased this product a year ago and I've used it on a regular basis during that year so I believe I am now in a position to post a review. The pages inside the notebook are a little plastic like but not to an off putting degree. It's sort of what I expected, a non-porous surface. I like the grid marked on each page which I think is of some assistance when writing or drawing. The grid is visible but not distracting. The app has improved during my use and is simple to use and does exactly what it should. Pages get uploaded to cloud storage or sent via email, whatever your preferences, without a hitch. When you have uploaded or finished with a page, it's a simple job to clean it with a damp cloth.Once it's dried, a bit of dry tissue can speed up the job if you're in a hurry, you're ready to go again. All good so far.Now the bad news.During the life of the notebook, a year so far, the covers, in particular the front, have become distorted. They are now far from flat, each has a definite curve. I have tried bending the covers back, I have tried pressing the covers flat with heavy weights for prolonged periods. Nothing seems to work because, sooner rather than later, the covers are curved just as they were before. It's a shame because other than that issue I was very happy with the product. In all honesty, I am unable to recommend this notebook because it's become a pain in the bum.UPDATE: The seller has contacted me. Apparently there have been a certain number of notebooks from one production run which had issues with the covers curling. They have promised to provide me with another notepad. That's certainly increased the customer service kudos. I've updated my rating from 1 star to 2 stars. I will update again when and if I receive the new notepad.UPDATE 2: Well the book didn't turn up despite the promise. I waited a month. In a final move towards completion I sent them an email to remind them of their promise. Hey presto, a few days later a new notebook arrives at my office. So far so good, no unwanted flexing and bending and everything seems to be in order. My final verdict.I am now in a position to recommend the product on the basis that the first book was an isolated manufacturing blip.As for customer service it seems a bit hot and cold but we got there in the end.

Although I have only had my Rocketbook for about a week, I am extremely satisfied with it. I am a student and this product is so convenient. I like to write my notes to help me remember the material but I always prefer to have my notes on my computer. The Rocketbook let’s me do just that. I can write my notes for every class and only use this one notebook. There are three things I really like about this product and they are its features, its app, and over all its user friendliness. The Rocketbook is very eco-friendly. It’s not paper and it is reusable. Although it’s not paper, writing on it very comparable to writing on paper. It has a smooth surface making it easy to write on.The pen glides over the page and does not take long for the ink to dry. I have not had a problem with it smearing; however, I write right-handed and that may be different for a left-handed person. It takes a little bit to get use to the pens but it is incredibly smooth when the pen is at the right angle and does not require a great deal of pressure. The best part of this notebook is that you can erase it easily. The pens have erasers built in for small mistakes and for a whole page, simply wipe clean with the damp towel provided with the Rocketbook. Just make sure to dry it completely before writing on it again. Also make sure you use the right pens: FriXion Ink pens (they also have highlighters).Once the app is downloaded, the set up is very easy to make an account. After that is done, the app allows you to connect to where you want your notes to go. It allows you to set up many different options like Google Drive, Evernote, Dropbox, OneNote, email, messages and a few others. It’s very nice when it comes to organizing your notes. Scanning is also easy. You just hold your phone over the page and it locks onto the document for you and takes the scan for you. After the document is scanned, save it on the app and then send it to one of the destinations listed above. The app also keeps the scanned document in its history file. This product is very user friendly. The whole process is write, scan, send it to your destination, erase it and start with something new. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to write their notes but organize them online.

Received my Rocketbook on Saturday and while using it at work on Monday, I noticed the last few pages in the back weren't connected to the spiral at the top. It looked like during the binding process, the sheets were crooked so the punches were too close to the edge.Rather than go through the cumbersome Amazon return process, I emailed Rocketbook directly and explained the issue. They responded within the hour and after a few pictures of the issue and my mailing address, they had a new one off to me! Received it today and it's perfect!I used the original one at work this week while I waited for my new one. I like how smooth the Frixion pens flow along the paper and the reusability of the pages.I picked up a set of the colored .7mm pens cuz I like to keep things fresh and they work pretty well. My Rocketbook came with the black .5mm Frixion which is nice but I like a bolder brighter line. If you write small, you'll like the smaller tip.I'm a lefty so like all my peeps, I'm always leary of two things - side bound notebooks and pens that don't dry fast. Gel pens are my spirit animal but they are notorious slow dryers especially on shiny surfaces. The .7mm pens lay down a thicker line but I found as long as I didn't press hard which causes a lot of ink to flow, I was fine and didn't have smeared words or ink on the side of my hand. To combat the spiral binding I just do what I always do and use the notebook back to front or only write on the backs of the pages going front to back. Two things to note: 1) I use a large sticky note for my table of contents because my file destinations will change over time and I don't know if the Frixion ink will come off the inside of the cover nicely. 2) I noticed that if you are a someone who presses hard when you write -while you'll be able to remove the ink easily - you'll leave a slight indent in the pages which may or may not bother you. You shouldn't need to press hard though - I got the best (and most comfortable) results by relaxing my hand and just letting the pen flow.My Rocketbook had several admirers this week and prompted the purchase of five or six by coworkers for themselves or their kids!

I bought my Rocketbook directly through their kickstarter project and couldn't be happier with it. I persuaded a few colleagues on my team at work to get one too so now we're essentially the coolest people here. The 'action' of the pens on the paper is a little odd at first. It takes a bit of getting used to but I actually find it quite nice to write with - very light and smooth. I've bought a few extra pens so now have a few different colours to play with for highlights and additional notes etc. On the subject of highlights - the frixion highlighter pens I tried don't work with the rocketbook properly. By properly, I mean that they can write on the paper and stick/scan well BUT you can't use them to highlight over writing already done with, say, a black or blue pen. You just end with a big smudgey mess. I didn't really expect this to work as it would on 'normal' paper, it was more of an experiment on my part as I thought it would be really cool if it did. But alas, it didn't. Again, nothing to majorly take away from the book itself. And yes, it's a bit of a irk having to wait a few seconds to let the ink dry but come on people - small price to pay!The app (I have it on ios) has worked for me without issue and does exactly what I expected it to. It scans quickly and sends the page to whatever program/email address you have selected on the settings and highlighted on the page. No problems there. The pages wipe clean well too. The frixion pens have an eraser on the end which works well for small areas/fixes but using a wet tissue/paper towel etc is best for clearing the whole page. Providing you haven't left the writing on there for months on end, it comes off completely leaving you with a blank page again. Amazing! I haven't even used past about 12 pages yet as there just hasn't been a need to (the book has 32).All in all - I love this. I think it's a great product and it really helps me out in my place of work so I don't have to carry bulky notepads or my laptop to various meetings and means I can make quick notes and not worry about losing them later.

I very rarely write reviews on Amazon, but the Everlast has certainly left such an impression on me that I have to give it one. I bought the Everlast based on the review by Thomas Frank, as it would almost fix the issues that I have with note-keeping. Context: I am currently in sixth form and have to keep notes for class and other studies, as well as personal projects, and most of the paper notes that I have are just collecting dust, un-indexed and using space that I don't have a lot of; if I need to refer back to my notes for content already covered, it's like having to find a needle in a haystack sometimes. When I got it, I was really impressed by the build, and the quality of the "paper"; it has a glossy texture to it that is a dream to write with using the included the black Frixion pen. One nitpick was that the ink does take about 10-15 seconds to dry onto the page, which would rule this out if you are left-handed and tend to put your hand onto the page however if you can write comfortably with a gel pen or some other inky pens, you can get on with this. After trialling the writing, I set up the Rocketbook app and started to scan in the pages. I tend to be a bit of a stickler when it comes to companion apps but it is wonderful - the UI is intuitive and easy to navigate and set up the icons at the bottom of the page, and the actual scanning of the pages is quick and pain free, as well as the scans themself being clear. After that, wiping the pages down with the included cloth is really easy (given that the cloth has enough water on it) and is just as quick to dry.Overall, I was extremely impressed with the notepad, and it has become my daily driver for school. There is odd quirk here and there, such as the ink drying time and it only using Frixion pens, but I knew about those going into this. If you are a student, professional, or human, get this and it will add so many productivity points to your life.

Updated review after two weeks of useI'm increasing my overall rating from 4 to 5 stars. At first, I was somewhat disturbed by the "slippery" feeling when writing in this notebook. But it only took a few days of light writing (list-making, a few meeting notes, etc.) to adapt. I use the notebook every day and am really enjoying the flexibility it offers. There are plenty of pages to get me through a week before I need to scan and clean. The scans that result through the app are waaay better than any I've gotten in the past using scanning apps that I've purchased through the app store. My text and annotations really come out clear and bold.Original ReviewI read several reviews and "answers" stating that this does not and could not work for people who are lefthanded.I am lefthanded and it works fine, no smearing of ink (even though, yes, if you purposefully touch the ink even a few seconds after writing it can be smudged badly). If you are a lefty, I recommend you evaluate how you write on normal paper. Does your pinky (or do your other fingers) drag across the words you've just written? If so, this technology is probably not for you. If on the other hand you're like me and hold your pen about an inch from its tip without dragging your hand across the area where you've just written, you'll probably be okay.I only give this 4 stars because it really doesn't feel (to me) like I'm writing on normal paper. The pen feels "slippery" on the page. It kind of slides around and I don't feel like I have as much control as I am used to. Even in the best of times my handwriting isn't something I'm proud of. It's going to take some time and practice before I am comfortable writing with these tools.I wanted to give this product 3.5 stars, but there's a notice on the inside front cover that says "do not microwave this notebook." Since that makes me laugh everytime I see it, it was easy to round this up to 4 stars.

Very useful to use this as a backup to iPad Pro, useful when the battery is low. The frixon pen that comes with it, writes on the quality, smooth paper fluidly, like a rollerball . Great to have a good quality plastic cover that doesn't wear out of get damaged as easily as paper. Mine came with a rocket cloth to wipe off. Rubber on pen works surprisingly well. The 8 x 11 size works best for me , as I'm used to using A4 size. This will replace the huge volume of papers/notes, I have. Also like that I can put something printed on the middle of the page & it scanned too.Works with onedrive, Dropbox & other apps, easily. love that you can assign where it goes by crossing a symbol at the bottom before you scan. And there's other frixion coloured pens that work well.My 1 disappointment was mine came with 16 double sided pages (32 writable sides) rather than the 36 pages advertised. I need the extra pages as I do a lot of writingElfinbook 2.0 has more pages & is cheaper on Amazon, but the rocketbook app is slightly better & easier to work quickly (you ll need 3G or wifi) . Elfinbook has a pen loop holder on the bottom of the A5 book. This doesn't but you can hook a pen,s pocket holder on the book. Will update when I've had more use from it. Kids love it & think the rubbing out is magic. I Ve got them their own rocket colouring books ( another great idea as saves their pictures, & great learning tools, keeping the place tidy). If it had 36 pages I would've given it 5 stars. But it doesn't disappoint functionally & is already helping with my organisationElfinbook doesn't have the icons at the bottom of pages. Debatable if you actually need it there , rather than just in the app when you scan it. It has more pages though. Only had both for a few days , so will update review. At the moment I'm liking the rocketbook more, although elfinbook is a lower price. Just need to work out the different cloud links in it.

The good bits: it works well with the app and means I'm only ever carrying a blank notebook. I write copious notes during the course of my work and this is lighter and more manageable than my usual 150 page A4 notebook. It seems sturdy enough, I guess the expense is in the technology. Wet wipes work well when clearing the text, it's a bit messy cleaning a full page of notes but the towel provided with the book comes in handy. It took a bit of practice getting the scans readable and I would suggest scanning in lower light conditions so that the flash is activated. There is a capability for scanning multiple pages and sending them as a single file which also is quite handy. The iffy bits: it still seems expensive for what it is,also the pens aren't cheap compared to a standard ballpoint and don't seem to last very long. Mine have lasted just over a week and therefore the book won't ever pay for itself as a replacement for conventional note taking. That said, I personally think that the ease of use outweighs this. The files are uploaded to Rocketbook's servers so this system is unsuitable for confidential notes and the whole system is dependent on them maintaining that service. It would have been better for the app to make use of the apps on my phone; this would also relieve the company from the burden of maintaining a server and ensure the durability and security of the system. The book itself is quite well made but crying out for a better, more rigid cover. The pages have guide dots printed on them and I would have preferred alternating lines and dots for writing and drawing. I have got round this by drawing my own lines in with a grey sharpie (doesn't wash away with the text) and this works fine. A 0.7 nib definitely works better than the 0.5 pen I got with the book. The plus side is that the pen is a 'clicker' and so I only need to buy refills rather than whole pens.

Writing this review after using it for a full semester of college.Absolutely love this notebook. I got it because I was tired of buying notebooks and wasting paper. It does seem like a big investment for a notebook at first glance (especially if you count the pens) but it was well worth it for me.Writing: I invested in a set of Frixion black pens (I use this color the most and the ink ran out after a few weeks on my first pen) and another set of colored pens. There is a learning curve (like making sure you don't smear the ink) but besides that, it's just like writing on normal paper. My biggest regret is not realizing there was a lined version which is definitely better if you plan on takinga lot of notes since the dots don't show up in the scans which can make your writing look messy if you don't write very, very straight. I found that skipping lines helped my writing look less convoluted.Scanning: Scanning is super easy, especially if you preset your locations. I send my scans primarily to my Google drive and email. They also get stores on the app, which I find helpful. Scanning is great for saving your notes over the years without having to worry about notebooks piling up. Just don't forget your password! The scans look very clear although they do change the colors of my pens just slightly. So I would say yes if you're just trying to organize notes, but maybe not if you're an artist.Erasing: Erasing is very easy. I bought a pack of mini spray bottles from Amazon. I tend to keep my notes for the week and then upload them and erase them all at once. I wouldn't leave the ink on for more than a couple of weeks as I realized my red pen left very faint stains when I forgot to erase it. Luckily, it can't be seen when uploading. I wish it came with two of the microfiber cloths because I always seem to briefly misplace mine but that's not a big deal.

Having read various reviews and watched a couple of YouTube videos before purchasing this product, my only concern was whether the slightly slippery nature of the page surface would make my handwriting too messy or even illegible. The Rocket Book is supplied with a black rollerball pen, and while this gives quite good contrast it is indeed quite slippery on the page surface when compared to traditional paper. I think it's something I could get used to, but I also purchased some Pilot Frixion Fineliner pens (fibre tips) and I find these are much easier to write with, albeit with less contrast and a slightly thicker line than the rollerball (see image). If you choose to scan the pages with the included app then you can apply various enhancements including increasing the contrast. For everyday notetaking with or without the app The Rocket Book is great. Wiping the page clean with a damp cloth is as easy as it sounds but be aware that a very faint ghost-like image of the writing can remain on the page. This is so faint that it has absolutely no effect on everyday usage - you have to look really hard and hold the page at an angle to a bright light source to see it - but it might be wise not to write down passwords etc. on these pages as they may still be readable for some time after wiping. Another reason that I personally wouldn't write sensitive information in the notebook is because the scanning app necessarily involves uploading your pages via a 3rd party server over which you have no control. I removed one star for durability because the covers seem prone to scratching and indeed mine arrived pre-scratched! In summary: this is a great note-taking device with a useful and user-friendly app; use a FineLiner if the included rollerball is too slippery on the page surface; and carefully consider whether to use it for sensitive information.

Reviewing to hopefully answer some of the questions I had before buying. I bought this myself and have had no contact with the manufacturer. This is a well constructed notebook with textured plastic front and back covers. I would argue that the white artifacts seen on the cover in other pictures are likely due to reflections on the plastic texture, rather than any kind of manufacturing error. The provided pen works well, though I would recommend also getting the pilot friXion clicker retractable rollerball pack as the black ink on that pen is darker. Pages are made from a tough paper-mimicking material and survived an attempt to rip (see attached pictures b and c).If you're a first time user, don't assume you'll get a perfect scan from any and every scan attempt - I would recommend the following procedure for better scanning success: hold the phone at the centre of the page and near the page, gradually lifting upwards until the page fits on the scan screen and the scan is performed - this way the phone is at the ideal angle for scanning (see picture f compared to picture e, outlined below) and more of the page is likely to fit on the picture, resulting in a higher resolution. This of course sounds simple but makes a difference! Be sure to scan under good lighting conditions, scanning in a dark/poorly lit room is setting yourself up for failure!Attached pictures from left to right (excuse my messy writing): (a) Rocketbook Everlast A4 letter version with provided pen and my Huawei Mate 10 Pro case for scale; (b and c) page toughness test, harsh attempt to rip page pictured from both sides; (d) picture of page before scan; (e) scan of page, holding phone at bottom of page; (f) scan of page, holding phone directly above page center.Happy scanning!

Executive A5 Rocketbook:(Edit: See update below)After a couple teething problems with the frixion pen I was initially very pleased with my rocketbook. My primary goal was to reduce waste so I hoped the rocketbook would be a long term solution. After three months of daily use i'm still pretty pleased with the book, but have the following minor criticisms:1) The frixion pens take a little time to get going - persevere! They do eventually work ok.2) The frixion pen is useless for writing your destinations on the inside cover. The inside cover simply wont take the ink.3) You have to use little to no pressure when writing, otherwise over time the pages will show 'ghost'marks from previous writingI do however have one major criticism which echos other reviews: bent covers. The warping/bending of the front cover is infuriating and no matter what I try I cannot unbend it.The bent covers then end up affecting the scanning of the pages which is an unacceptable side affect. If the issue with the covers could be resolved, and perhaps fix the issue with writing on the inside cover then i'd gladly give this 5/5 stars. Unfortunately it seems there is little effort from Rocketbook to actually address and fix the bent cover issue.Update:I contacted Rocketbook and they have sent me a replacement book. Immediately, problem #2: not being able to write the destination in the cover, is resolved. Super!Only time will tell if the bending covers problem has been resolved, however I am hopeful.Updated to 4 stars.Update #2:A few months on and the covers are bending again. Also the plastic spine snapped at the top where it's folded over. I'm so frustrated with the manufacturing quality of this product.Revised to 2 stars. Buyers beware.

I bought the Everlast Executive edition direct from the brand and thrilled with the product. It is a great size which is close to A5 (but not exactly). I prefer this to the larger version which is closer to A4. It fits perfectly into whatever I am travelling with. 36 pages which is plenty to fill up anyway before you need to start erasing. It has a plastic-y feel to it which is strange to write on to begin with but you get used to it. Its actually quite nice - like writing on a banana (if you haven't done it - go do it now)The book itself is relatively sturdy. The front cover is strong enough to be protective while still giving some flex. The book itself comes with 'grids' on the pages, not lines which I am used too for my notebooks - easy enough to get used too. You HAVE to use the Pilot Frixion pen - be careful on this as if you dont then you cant rub it off. One comes with it but I bought some more just in case. IF you are out and about and forget the pen, forget using the pad.The wiping off itself is super easy - just get some wet paper towel and wipe away your notes like magic. People love seeing it being done! The app works really well, just point it at the page and it will auto snap it. There are a number of icons at the bottom of the page, you can pre-set these to upload the page to a specific location. All you have to do is cross out the icon on each page and it will auto upload the page to your Dropbox/Google Drive/OneDrive etc.Absolutely recommend for work/students/anyone who makes notes!!If you have any questions don't hesitate to comment below, I will try to answer them. If you found this review helpful in anyway please press the "yes" or "helpful" button.
