The 'ROCCAT Taito Mid-Size Control Black Endurance Gaming Mousepad' is a 40 x 32cm gaming mat that is 3mm thick, 50% more than Roccat's own fairly basic Kanga Choice. The Taito mid-size is about 5cm wider and longer than the Kanga mid-size and so offers a greater playing area. Despite the relatively modest increase in size and thickness, there is a considerable difference in weight over and beyond that of Kanga - 380g (approx) vs 143g. The mat is more elaborately packed using a thick cello inner within the card outer. It is less intended for the occasional gamer than those who play regularly and for longer periods. As a gaming brand,Roccat is not as recognised as others but it is trying to compete with its more established competitors; sometimes it succeeds, but not always. This is considered a success.Other than size, the Taito benefits from stitched edges to help prevent future fraying and a finer-grained fabric play surface. The mat's working surface, while also being smoother, will benefit those using mice offering 600DPI capabilites and beyond; 800-plus is probably the better choice. It will be no less usable with lower resolution mice, but some of its performance benefits will be lost. The Taito, and Roccat's other gaming mats, have serious competition from brands such as Razer and Logitech, the latter also strong within the gaming scene in addition to their standard ranges of products. Roccat may be better able to compete on price although there need not be an exact dimensional match between similar products from the various brands; some may be close in size and be of similar playing characteristics. Roccat claim to have tested all their gaming mats with several dozen gaming mice to prove compatability; others not used in their tests should also work well. There is a 'King-size' version which is not only about an additional 5cm wider and deeper but also a couple of mm thicker. Regardless of play area, some users prefer a deeper base. The Taito Control is intended to provide a greater degree of in-play control than would most other comparably priced gaming mats and is effective. The mid-size version could support dual-player use and a single player will have more than ample space available. It will need a solid surface beneath as it is not self-supporting, but it has the weight to be very stable. It also appears to be sufficiently 'sticky' to be unlikely to move acciderntally. With its relatively large playing area, reasonable price and very good performance, the Taito Control offers excellent value. Expectation was for its price to be higher, edging towards double the price and it is therefore very affordable. It probably offers the best performance for the price (+/- a few £) of any gaming mat yet seen. Before paying more for another brand's product, try this - you should be pleasantly surprised!

I usually prefer plastic/hard mouse pads as they tend to glide a bit more and some textiles can be very resistant to movement.I wouldn't say I'm a high sensitivity user. I probably use about below average sensitivity for aim an for being a "mini" this certainly has even more space than I need.I use it with my sharkoon fireglider and it tracks perfectly. The teflon feet work great on it and I get a perfect mixture of consistent glide and control which is what you want for precise aiming. While the logo looks nice and all it has a different texture but my mouse doesn't cross the are so it's no bother. I've only had it for a few days now but so far no issues with curling up edges and it'staying nice and flat.I think some of the other brands that offer mousepads that are pretty much identical cost 2x 3x more are a waste of money. I speak of experience since I've had steel series, qpads etc and this works just as well. The only thing I can't speak on is longevity. Whether it will develop inconsistent areas/texture changes from use quicker than more expensive mousepads I do not know. The other problem is flat mousepads can easily get frayed edges but I've seen no sign of it so far. Basically, if you get these texture changes from regular use it becomes useless. Since your aim will suffer due to random resistence of mouse movement. What makes or breaks this product is how long it will stay as is. Because as is it's perfect 5/5. Nothing lasts forever but if it starts getting unusable due to prevously stated reasons within a month or two I would not recommend it- I will return and amend my rating. For now it's perfect and despite being 3mm flat it actually offers comfort for your palm if you use finger grip technique. The size is perfect, this is coming from someone who prefers below average sensitivity. Buying any larger sizes than this is a waste of money unless you've some abnormally low sensitivity; having to move your mouse the length of your desk just to turn 90 degrees. If my review is unchanged in 2 months then buy it. Personally I won't care if it starts becomming unusable in 4 months or so (I ue my momuse heavily) because the cost of this is so low.. but not low enough to have to replace it every month or two.

The product itself, the mat has a high build quality and a very generous size, huge, in fact... it reads 400 x 320 mm on the packaging.I can tell you it isn't going to slip, even if you try pushing it sideways, the mat doesn't move. The mat is very consistent, in terms of both resistance (or friction between the mouse and the mat) and quality. Not much to say about it being having this product no more for than 60 minutes...The packaging... I would say it's trash. It uses some form of hard but brittle clear plastic, even though it was wrapped around with a sheet of multilayer, very durable sheet of plastic with a bit of duct tape securing the ends. The package (the box protecting the mat)was already broken in the inside before it arrives and continues to shatter as I attempt to open it.Keep away from children, LOL... the harden yet brittle plastic isn't the greatest in terms of child ingestion system. Just beware of that you might hurt yourself when opening the box.In conclusion, as a student / casual gamer, it is a very promising yet cheap product. The only thing wrong with the product is the packaging, but this is not the distributor's fault, it's roccat's the use of hard and brittle plastic is so no so user friendly. Also, the packaging isn't really designed to be reused, as a rather frequent traveler like myself (I am an oversea student from HK and studying the Newcastle University at the moment) isn't so ideal.Improvements for Roccat, the packaging, reusable packaging wouldn't be that hard to design nor it would cost more. The product is very nice, what would be better is that if the packaging is better.I shall upload some photos taken wild I "unbox" the product.

This is an amazing quality gaming mouse-mat, finished very nicely indeed. The edges of the mat are stitched around the edges in Roccat blue, and there's a 2-colour Roccat logo screen-printed in the corner and a Roccat patch stitched into the top left too. The celebrity endorsement on the packaging is from "Jankos" Jankowski, until recently a Jungler with Team Roccat. The two important things with a mouse mat are the top and bottom surfaces. The top surface of this mat is a sort of black artificial fibre, that sticks up in lots of tiny spikes That give very good definition for the LED/LASER tracker in the mouse and (I would imagine) will also trap dirt away from the mouse sensor,so the mat performance shouldn't degrade over time. There's just enough friction to give a positive feel to your mouse movements without the mouse dragging (although this will be somewhat subjective and dependent on the glide surfaces on your mouse). The underside of the mat is a rubbery coating with a weave pattern embossed into it that sticks nicely to the desktop. The filling in the sandwich is about 3mm of resilient rubbery foam with a little give, that makes it comfortable for your wrist when you're doing precision work.A word of warning: Roccat's idea of Mid-Size is my idea of Huge: 320 mm top to bottom is taller than a sheet of A4 paper. It works particularly well if you don't have a mouse that lets you flick easily from high to low DPI settings, or if you like low DPI settings; as I normally use very high DPI, it's a little larger than I really need. But it is a gorgeous mouse mat.

Hi,I purchased this mouse mat to compliment my new Razer Deathadder. It is very thin, about 3mm, and is about the size of A3 paper. It is large enough for unrestricted mouse movements. It is jet black except for the logo, and goes well with my Deathadders blue lights. The description says its shiny, but it is more matt than shiny. The backing is very grippy and stays put on your desk very well. The surface is a cloth type surface, with a very fine weave. My mouse glides around very smoothly, with just the sligtest hint of grip. This trait is unique to cloth mats, and I actually prefere it over hard mats, which I sometimes find are too smooth, with even the slightest virbration in your arm,or muscle twitch will move the mouse. The tracking of the laser on my mouse is very smooth, with no jerky cursor movements or anything like that.It can easily be rolled up and put back in the box, or a tube for traveling, and rolls out completely flat almost straight away. But please take it out of the box carefully using the perforation on the back, as this will leave a nice hole for you to put it back in. I was too excited and just ripped the packaging right open, leaving me with a mess on the floor, and nowhere to store my nice new mat.If I had to mention one bad point, it is this. The edges of the mat are slighty rough, from where the mat has been cut when it was made. It sometimes itches my wrist or forearm, but only slightly, but honestly, I don't really notice it.Overall, I would really recommend this mouse mat. 5 Stars.

Been using the Roccat Taito for over 8 months now, and got it to use in conjunction with the Roccat Kone +. For a cloth mouse pad I'm surprised it has lasted this long. I move my computer around to LAN parties etc and roll the Taito up a lot. When I wash it I put on the floor of the shower when I take one, the corners and the bottom edge are slightly frayed but only noticeable at very close inspection (I'm sure a little smidgen of glue would hold it down). I did have the Taito rolled up for over a month and forgot where it was put, after I eventually found it I put it on the desk to check how much it changed shape and not lay flat but to my amazement it still remained completely flat on the desk.Right to the gaming aspects. The Taito doesn't move at all while in game great grip (having a polished wood desk and I don't know how that compares to glass for grip). Still tracks well with the mouse and the printed logo and text in the bottom right hasn't actually faded at all. It's also very comfy while using the mouse. However I have bought three Roccat products in the past and had very good packaging however the packaging with this was very disappointing. Its rather brittle and cheap as pointed out in another review and I cut my self trying to get it open. That said i still think its worth five stars.Be sure to read the size dimensions it says mid size but this Taito is very large.

This mouse mat is slightly over a foot high by a foot and a third wide (or wide by high, depending on how you place it, I guess). It lays flat, has an easy glide black surface, suitable for most mice, and a soft foam, stitched-effect edge which is picked out in cyan.It works well with my Evoluent and Logitech mice. Absolutely no complaints there.Back when most mice had roller balls, mouse mats were virtually mandatory because the roller ball tended to stick at the drop of a hat. With optical mice, most people think you can use any surface - and to an extent you can, however you'll find that if you're using an optical muse on a shiny desktop, fine control suffers. You can see this yourself by trying to turn tight little circles with the mouse pointer, and observe how erratic it can be on a shinier surface, compared to a dull, matt surface. The Roccat mat is perfect, although I did find it made my wrist sweat, compared to my existing mat, but on the other hand the Roccat mat stays in place, while my existing mat has a tendency to creep around the desktop. Swings and roundabouts. It's a really good size, but bear in mind the dimensions if your own desk is a bit cramped right now.Aside from the sweat issue on the rubberised fabric, it's a nice bit of kit.

Ordered this as part of an entirely new build I put together, and (apart from my GTX 670) this could well be the part of it that exceeded my expectations best.Firstly the size - it's mentioned in the 'dimensions' box in the product details, but it doesn't really get across just how big this is for a 'mid size' mat. As a handy approximation, place 2 A4 sheets of paper portrait-orientated side by side. That's roughly the size of this mat, so make sure you've got enough room on your desk for it!The surface itself is ideal - I know everyone has their preferences, but for me, this mat was ideal - nice and smooth, had a good slickness to it without being *too* fast. The underside clings to my (highly polished)desk like nobody's business, so top marks there.I noticed some people were less than impressed with the packaging - I can only speak for myself, but I had no issues - nicely packaged (rolled up) and unrolled neatly, within half an hour of sitting on a desk, you'd never have known it was ever rolled up.Overall, I can't find fault with this - for anyone who does heavy-duty mouse work either as a gamer or as part of their job, I can't see any reason why you'd need to spend more on bigger-name mats other than personal preference. Highly recommended.

Used it nonstop/fulltime for 2-3 months along with a Zowie FK2 gaming mouse and a Zowie Camade mouse bungee. The textile top haven't started to disintegrate at the bottom edge like with some other "noname" mousepads.I started playing Overwatch (Blizzard's first person shooter) so ordered a few different mouse pads (different brands and sizes) including this one.The other brands include Steelseries (which is also good but different) and some other "noname" pads that don't worth mentioning because of their immediately obvious quality issues. The main differences between my Roccat Taito and Steelseries mausepads:- My Taito pad is 3mm thick while the Steelseries is about 2mm which makes the Taito a little bit softer and I like that.Note that with a large mousepad the height of the mousepad doesn't really matter (usually your whole hand and wrist is on top of the mosuepad and not on the edge like with smaller pads) but it can affect the softness of the pad.- The surface of the Taito pad is more like smooth synthetic textile which makes it more slippery and feel less like rough textile and I personally prefer that over the Steelseries surface which has provides more textile-like feeling and more resistance.

I bought this to replace my aging Everglide Titan. I realise now that this wasn't a suitable replacement for my needs. After a few months of usage with a Logitech G400 mouse my thoughts are:* It's large, smooth and consistent. No jitter. It glides better than my previous mat, but it lacks control for those on a medium to high sensitivity (<24cm/360).* The static friction has become too high as it has become increasingly noticeable after a few months. This means that a higher force needs to be exerted on the mouse from its idle position to make it move, causing the pointer to overshoot. Again, this may only be a problem for mid or high sensitivity users. The G400 mouse has large mouse feet which increase surface area of contact, but this was not a problem on my previous mat.* This high static friction is also causing the mat to move a lot on my laminated desk.* Printed logo on the bottom right introduces inconsistent glide. In conclusion, this mat excels for mid-low sensitivity users. It's cheap and feels like a high quality product, but it doesn't suit my needs and so I've decided to give another mat a try.

Purchased this and the 5mm Taito at the same time (still waiting for that one to lay flat!)Nice sized mat, idea for my needs. Feels good under my mouse (Logitech G502) and appears to offer both speed and control. I spent last night (26/03/2018) going through all my gaming mouse mats (11 in total including Logitech G240, Logitech G440, Corsair MM200, Corsair MM600, Razor Sphex, Roccat Sense + various others) playing BF1 (only FPS game I play) and have to say that this mat held up against them all (it's actually still on the desk and the mat I chose to use). Not so sure about the logo in the bottom right hand section of the mat though as it appears to have been stuck on by heat transfer, which means that for all intent and purpose, that section of the mat is pretty much useless as not only is it quite rough, the mouse doesn't track so well. Shame about that little niggle, but in fairness, the other mats all appear to have the same effect - did it need to be so big though!!I have a SteelSeries DEX on the way, so only time will tell whether or not that ousts this mat as the mat of choice, but so far so good.

I purchased this mouse mat on a recommendation from someone I know. The Mid-Size 5mm is huge compared to what I am used to, which is perfect for a gamer like myself. I still have not yet managed to use over half of this mouse mat but it still feels great having such a large area to use with a good quality mat. The design of the logo looks good and I prefer having that than having just a blank black mat. The thickness of this is great, making it feel like it will last for a long time. The base of it is nicely textured to stop it from slipping and the top is shiny for an ease of moving the mouse smoothly and effortlessly. This is quite a pricey mouse mat, being my first 'proper'mouse mat I am very impressed.I would recommend this to a friend, however if you have a smaller desk, the mid-sized one may be too big and I really only use one sixth of it, so it's not really needed. It looks great on my desk though and it is nice to be able to have the space to use your mouse. Worth the money definitely! :)

This product is very impressive. I have a very large desk area and smaller mousepads would either catch on my write or my mouse would slip off the edges. With with 'pad I have no trouble at all. It's a nice smooth surface and is very comfortable on the wrists. As this product has lasted me well over a year it's starting to show signs of wear but as it get useds at least 5 hours a day that's incredible. If you don't pull at the edges or pick at it (I have a bad habit of picking away at things) then I expect this product would look as if it's just come off the shelf. Why didn't I give it 5 stars? It's amazing but this product really should have a seamed or braided edge to it.I'd have happily paid more for this and it would certainly have stopped any of the wear and tear that the edges are showing. If Roccat were to ever update this product they should really add a seam to the edge. That would make it perfect! (And much higher quality)

This is an excellent mousemat from the ROCCAT team; it's smooth, strong and offers a great balance of resistance and sliding freedom, whether you're a from-the-wrist mouse gamer or need the extra arc room for your controller. The quality manufacturing is clear by how even the mousepad is; the tight weaving of the fabric makes for a perfect mousing surface without any loose fibres or that horrible scratchy feeling of your standard mouse mat. The mouse glides over it beautifully and, coupled with its substantial width and length, there is plenty of space for large-twitch movements in games without worrying about dropping off the edge. It's also hard-wearing and tough - I expect good durability out of it over time.Just make sure you've planned for your ROCCAT mousepad's arrival by setting aside plenty of surface area first - its sheer coverage means that it's not suitable for smaller desks.

This mat is amazing. I was expecting a normal size mouse mat but oh no way, this is an a3 size MASSIVE mat. Its so big i need to put part of my laptop on it. This isn't a bad thing though, it gives you more room to move your mouse on its beautiful surface. My Logitech M215 glides on it like a dream. I am also currently bidding on the Roccat Kova which will work even better ten my Logitech mouse. It has a nice Roccat logo and name in the bottom right corner, to show off you have this amazing mat. It has a rubber grip underneath and doesn't slide around like those old plastic type material mouse mats. It also can be rolled up, like when its delivered its all rolled up in the nicely decorated Roccat packaging,so it doesn't bend and stay bent. 5/5 for this gaming surface. I love it. I would recommend this to everyone who doesn't have one at the moment.
