This was a launch title for the Xbox 360 and it shows up against some more recent titles. This does not mean that it is anything less than beautiful though. The machines are well designed and the courses have a lot of detail from the road surface to mountains in the distance. Playing on a High Definition television really adds to the effect with this game, more so than racers like "Burnout Revenge".The tracks range from fairly simple to quite complex. There are four areas each with three different routes around them. This allows you to learn particular corners rather than having to learn the whole track.Most of these corners will require you to drift the car. This is easily done by just easing off the accelerator.The whole game is about drifting and using nitrous, as opposed to the more simulated driving experience of "Project Gothem Racing 3". It is more about fun than frustration.That being said, there are moments in the single player game that will frustrate the hell out of you. The single player game is called "World Xplorer" and is made up of over 200 races. You see a branching grid showing all of the races and which ones are available. You have to complete one race to unlock the next one connected to it and so on. You unlock new machines by winning certain races or by "exploring" an area. Later in the "World Xplorer" new features can be unlocked the same way. The learning curve in this part is spot on, easing you in before cranking up the difficulty in the last few races. You will definitely need to unlock some more powerful cars to win.Luckily this can also be achieved by competing in "Online Battles" on Xbox Live. This is some of the smoothest online play I have had on Xbox Live. It is easy to enter a game and the connection is very stable. Lag occurs only very rarely, plus there is a great sense of fair play. When you first start online it will feel like a real achievement to win your first race but as you get better you can have some very close races. You unlock a new car after every 10 online races, win or lose. I needed some of these cars to help me progress in "World Xplorer", so it is very much worth the effort.You also get single race modes, time trial modes (with online rankings and ghost data to download) and multiplayer on one Xbox 360.The Achievements are very difficult to unlock and very time consuming, e.g. Win a single race on every track with every car class without colliding with anything. There are nearly 30 tracks and five car classes, making nearly 150 races without crashing (or being crashed into). There are also lots of secret Achievements that I wouldn't be able to work out without the help of the trusty internet.I love this game and it has the all important "just one more race" addiction quality. I really enjoyed "Burnout Revenge" and I think "Ridge Racer 6" is even better.

First of all id like to thank Amazon for getting this to me on release day. Now the game, the first thing you will notice when you play the game is the graphics, even though there not up to the standards of PGR3 there still pretty impressive. The second thing you will notice is how unrealistic the game is and if youre a ridge racer fan you will no how fun this makes the game (very). All in all the game could have done with more development time, just to add a few more courses (15 in total) but hey if your a ridge racer fan you will be more than happy sitting in front of the telly having a go at this.

Ignore comparions with PGR for handling, not the same game. Where this game does excel is in longevity. Gamercard scores are hard to come by, lots of unlockable features, and the Explorer goes on for a very long time and indeed is very difficult, alot tricker than PGR in my opinion, I've done PGR on everything, having trouble even doing a single race in Expert mode! This game will last months and months if you want to complete it properly and then there's the online function, excellent racing etc. A very under rated game in my opinion.

A Lot of people have complained of poor handling and a game which doesn’t compare to Project Gothem racing. This game is an old arcade classic and is not meant to have realistic handling, there are no real cars tracks and so on because that’s the way Ridge racer is. you’ll find the same thing on the PSP, DS PSX and N64 so don’t complain.This is a great game buy it if your looking for an alternative to a completely realistic driving simulator like PGR3 and GT

i started playing ridge racer on psp, and i can't believe how adddictive it is. as much as i hate xbox 360, ridge racer 6 is on this console, this made me buy the xbox 360. I love the online experience for rr6, and now i can see there are so many ppl that is much better than me. must BUY rr6. im also getting ridge racer 7 on the ps3, ridge racer rules

What a great arcadr game, I have been a fan since the very early PS1 days and have played them all (Unbounded was just a complete mess up) I love how they've stuck to the same drift mechanic, it may be simple or old but it's simply arcade! I dont want realistic ridge racer, its what RR is, Arcade! Really hope to see a new release soon :(

Ive got Ridge Racer 3DS, so i decided to give it a try and get one for Xbox 360. Wasnt disappointed at all, game is fun (2 players option available). Little surprise on the beginning of the game - pac man game from Namco :-D

this is a great arcade game. it looks good and feels well. it is nothing more than an quick racing arcade game and is not ment to be taking seriously. just enjoy it. well better than terrible ps3 version

Just wanted this to add to my collection. It's Ridge Racer again, but with classy bells & whistles. Fast, smooth, playable, & great looking. Highly recommended!
