I bought this Viking Longboat ( Ship ! ) and in my opinion 28mm figures are way to large for this model.I placed 28mm figures on the deck and they are far to cramped! However it is perfect for 1/72 scale figures. The Sutton Hoo Viking Longboat is 90 foot long and 15 foot in the mid section, and this model work`s out in 1/72 scale exactly to those measurement`s. So having bought three I can place,Vikings,Saxons and Normans too on my Diorama. In relation to this Model,my husbands Topic,"What is 1:50 Scale?" can be viewed on Benno`s Figure Forum with both 28mm figures and 1/72 figures placed on the deck as a review.Lots of photo`s.However the full model longboat has not been completed as yet it was setup to show clearly which size figure the buyer would prefer to use.Placed there under the name Beano Boy. The site is free to visit. BB

This is the second Revell Viking ship I've built. This one is for a friend with a taste for history. It is a model of the Gokstad ship, and it's a delight to build. The moulding is fine; even the hinged covers for the oar-ports have been moulded. There are 64 shields included, which is how the Gokstad ship was found in the burial mound, but no-one knows if that's how it sailed, or if that's how it was dressed for the funeral. Sensibly, the kit gives you the option of just fitting 32 shields to the gunwales, which matches the number of oars, looks better, and frankly is easier. The decals for the shields only fit if you cut out a little hole in each one to clear the shield boss.

I bought this for me and my daughter to build for her school project. Neither of us had done anything like this before and I didn't pay attention to the difficulty level which wasn't for first timers. However, we did enjoy building it but there were some tricky parts and I needed to buy extra equipment to finish it. I also didn't realise that I needed to buy glue and paints to complete this build which was annoying but again that was my fault entirely.Did we enjoy building it? Yes we did.Would I recommend it? Yes I would. However, just be aware you'll need extra stuff (like paints, glue, brushes and tweezers) to finish the project.

Looks very nice when completed.Decals overlap the edges of the shields and need to have holes opened in the centre to allow the bosses through. It doesn't have an eagle for the sail, rather a viking warrior on profile. I very much doubt it'd work on the textured surface of the sail and we chose to hand-paint our own image on it (from How to Train Your Dragon) which looks very good. The instructions aren't great but it's simple enough to be built without much reference. Well, the rigging is a little more complicated and the instructions are not nearly clear enough.

I thought this model was excellent value for money. The pieces are well crafted and fit together well. 64 decel shields were difficult to apply, I found the best solution was to make a hole in the centre of each shield before applying the water. Fiddly but worthwhile taking the time. I found the oars were well fitted and the sail painted well with the large Viking decel looking great. Overall, this is the first Revell model I have built and found it satisfying.

Fairly straightforward to build and packed with detail. Bought this to make along with my 9 year old to support him with a school topic and we learned so much. Some of the pieces are fiddly and can break quite easily but on the whole it is a very well thought out kit. We did, as some suggested, leave off the sail decal choosing to paint our own instead which I think added to the fun.

We purchased this as a gift for an 8-1/2 year old boy who loves playing with Legos and anything that needs to be put together. He is very into medieval history (castles, knights, and such), so this was very exciting for him. He had fun putting it together and showing off his workmanship.

Purchased for my father and he loved it. My mother also joined in which was great as they got to spend time doing something together which due to the grandchildren they often don't get. He's obsessed with ships and I will be getting them both another model ship soon.

Very Good Kit.Only drawback is that at 1/50th scale it's too big for the Emhar Viking crew set unless you want your longship to look like it;s crewed by 10 year olds.As a static display piece it can't be faulted imho.

very sturdy basic kit rip for conversion! You get a mass of shields and transfers , even these were compatible with my Old Glory and Gripping Beast Miniatures that how good this kit is! Easy assembly

Product excellent. Item not yet made up and correct glue needs to be purchased. Ideal model kit for any parent wanting to help with Viking homework. Good therapy for parents with a short fuse.

Brought for a school model for a project was fine for that. Probably about 4 hours to build from memory, didn't paint it, just the transfers included - looked AOK. Buy some model glue.

This is the best model viking ship on the market, with flexible model shields that can be used by 28mm figures. Ship can also double for other craft used in wargaming !
