This was purchased for me as a birthday gift, so I have no way to verify the purchase. The one I received is the 2016 Richthofen commemorative model. I have seen some really silly prices for this model, check online, check your local model store if you have one. Some prices here are out where the buses don't go.This model is one of the better ones from Revell, it is nicely moulded and designed with very little flash (excess edge plastic). There is some, but it's minimal. The plastic is quite brittle, and there are some very fine, small parts on this model, so great care needs to be taken seperating them from the sprue. Most notably the undercarriage. In regards to the undercarriage, the plans are somewhat vague and poorly drawn, so it's a bit of a puzzle as to how this fits together. A fair amount of trial and error works, but better to find an online reference of the actual aircraft with the wheels down is the best way to figure this out.Weapons supplied are five types of missile which fit onto four understore mounts. Four of these will fit under the fuselage if you decide to go with that option. Two external fuel tanks under the wings complete the stores. There is a third fuel tank, which the plans show fitting under the fuselage, however, it doesn't. Test fitting this in the location indicated on the plans show that it collides with the nose wheel door and hangs over the nose wheel bay. Something is wrong there I think. The cockpit similarly has a panel that fits inside the main bubble canopy. This is awkward to fit and will require some fiddle and filing to get it to sit correctly. I say correctly as there is a lug on the back of it which engages with the fuselage so you can have the canopy open or closed. With a quite nicely detailed cockpit, it's worth having it open. The cockpit controls are rather poorly defined, especially the main panel which is also supplied as clear plastic. I have no idea why as you have to paint the thing anyway. You can pick out some of the controls on the side panels, but it might be easier to use the supplied decals. These will need a bit of fiddling and trimming to get them to sit on the panels. No pilot is supplied. There are some seams, raised edges and gaps to fill, so you will need some plastic putty to fix these errors and fine emery paper or file to take off the seams and edges. There is unfortunately a seam line down the centre of the cockpit canopy. I've seen some people file this off, but I have no idea how they did it without damaging the clarity of the perspex. As I'm not showing this in public I didn't bother as it doesn't interfere that much with the overall appearance. If you are a stickler for accuracy though, good luck.My only real complaint with this model is in regards to the suggested paint scheme. There is virtually no information provided as to what to paint, or what colour. So when painted, I suggest regular reference to the one photograph of a completed model that is on the front page of the plans. Otherwise you will end up with the plane being one solid colour - light blue/grey with a black spine. That's about it. No information on the leading edges, no information on colour trim for the missiles, oh, except for a silver tip. Again, spending ages hunting the web for a decent photograph of the stores on a real aircraft is the only answer here. Good masking tape is your best friend when painting this thing.Panel definition is pretty poor, there is some, but it's not very clear, so a bit of a devil to pick out or line. I have seen some very nice finished model photographs made by some very skilled people, but it's all a bit beyond me unfortunately, so I ended up with a showroom model. You know, all clean and shiny. There are a lot of decals to fit onto the model. The most difficult ones to fit are the tail. The rest are pretty straight forward but, they are tiny. I suppose that's logical considering the scale of the model, but they are really small - and there's a lot of them. Having said that the decals go a long way to making this look much better.Overall it is an excellent model allowing that it is 1/72 and some detail gets lost at that small scale. The decals are clean and look good and allowing for their utterly crap painting information, it is possible to get a nice result. Just take your time and don't forget to look up online and use the photograph on the front page of the plans to get a decent result.Worth the money if you have the time to put into making this. It's not a weekend model, there are a lot of pieces, some of them extremely small and very fragile.
