This feels good! I’ve had plenty of time to use it and have also played using the original controller a lot lately so I feel I’ve got a fair comparison. The build is really nice. Only £20 but both the materials and the build of the controller feel very polished in terms of quality. Nothing about the button presses feels out of place on the front, and despite the size, the d-pad is competent. Wouldn’t use it much but I did get in some rounds of Dr.Mario 64 and it holds its own. There's functionally nothing amiss. The stick is also great. It’s clearly different in terms of sensitivity but it has a solid range that makes Goldeneye perfectly viable with this thing. Found manual aiming to be plenty feasible with the analog stick, albeit requires a little more practice if coming from a traditional n64 controller, which is based on a different type of stick design. The downsides of the controller for me, and they’re few, is the overall size and the triggers. These are obviously both carry over flaws with the original Hori controller it's based on, and it’s more of a preference thing but it’s still a very small controller. About the same width as a pair of Switch joy cons in a grip. Wouldn’t be much of an issue but it leaves less space for your fingers to rest on the shoulder buttons which sit at an awkward near-45 degree angle. Found my fingers falling in to a claw like grip on the buttons in most games. I wasn’t finding it a discomfort, but it’s obviously a shortcoming you have to know going in. It might actually be something you prefer!Overall a great controller with a few flaws that may or may not affect your experience depending on preference. Stick is really good.

I've just received my controller so this is more of a first-impressions thing, but the stick on this controller feels perfect. I've got two controllers to compare it to; both are original N64 pads, one with a "refurbished" stick and another with a GC-style replacement stick. While the replacement stick is very good, it has a little more deadzone than the original stick but is otherwise just as sensitive, and has no issue performing somersaults in Mario 64 or spin attacks in Ocarina of Time. The Tribute 64's stick is even better, with no deadzone at all. On top of that, the wider thumb pad and decreased resistance in the thumbstick might make it the most comfortable to use. The face buttons all feel great, but the L, R and dual Z buttons are a little more mushy than on the original controller (they're also completely smooth plastic, so they don't have the same texture or engraved letters). The d-pad is still easily accessible but as a result of being smaller and stiffer it is more difficult to use, having tested it in Mischief Makers. As for the size and shape it does feel a little strange moving from the three-pronged design at first but otherwise it feels great to hold. As someone who's used to larger controllers (the Hyperkin Duke is my main Xbox controller) the Tribute 64 doesn't feel too small and fits in the hand just right.Based on the quality of the stick alone, the Tribute 64 is potentially even better than the original and if you're not a fan of the original's design, this controller is a no-brainer. Assuming the USB version is identical to this, it would be perfect to use with an emulator, giving you all the right buttons.

I got my Retro-Bit tribute 64 controller this morning and I am absolutely thrilled with it upon opening the box at first I had a little bit of concern with the controll stick being too smooth and lacking In resistance and i'm happy to say that my concerns weren't warranted as I tested it with ocarina of time command and conquer and smash Bros and all 3 played perfectly. As far as comfort goes the controller felt fine in my hands I have reasonably big hands and it didn't feel like it was too small and all of the buttons were well placed. In regards to the port for the rumble pack and memory card both functioned as they should I didn't have Pokémon stadium so couldn't test it with the the expansionPak.

Analogue stick is great!Controller also has slot for N64 memory card - don't have any issues using it.Another plus is very long cable (around 2.80 meters).Nice design inspired by Hori mini pad - they made controller a bit bigger than Hori, but my opinion is they should go further with size - users with bigger hands will press shoulder buttons with second joint of their forefingers instead of first, but they will not have any problem using other buttons.Price is very good - almost half of Brawler 64 controller. It would be great if Retro-Bit make wireless version of this controller - N64 still missing decent one.

Slightly bigger than the Hori Pad, but it's actually just as good the Hori pads cost £60 plus import duties, so it's actually a much cheaper alternative and just as good. The start button is actually better than the Hori as it's bigger and more durable. The analogue stick seems to be decent, and the whole pad is really responsive.L,R and Z are not labelled perhaps someone unfamiliar with the N64 pad set up might not realize there are 2 Z buttons (not L1/2 R1/2) as might be assumed. Still I'm guessing everyone using it will soon work it out.5 out of 5 for now, just hoping the pad stays this good as the Hori has.

A great alternative to the original N64 controllers. This one uses the old Hori design at a fraction of the cost. You get a decent gamecube style control stick as well as smaller c-buttons. The B,A and Dpad feel the same, however the placement of the Dpad is odd( however it is never used) and the Z trigger is placed on the back on both sides so you have an option of which side you'll prefer.Only issues are the L,R buttons seem to sink in rather than be pressed, doesn't affect gaming just seems a little weird and the back where accessories are plugged into is tight and not too sure if it actually works.

Excellent for FPS games like Doom 64 and Quake. You can play games like Mario 64 on it too and it does feel generally better than the OEM controller. The analogue stick is very good and Gamecube in style, although I would have preferred a little more resistance.A great controller all round although I would keep a normal pad handy also, any games requiring the D-pad are much worse for obvious reasons, but fully understandable.Nit-pick: I bought the ice colour to match my funtastic II console, but the blue here is a different shade, oh well.

Very good overall but I have to agree with the other reviewer regarding the analogue stick. The analogue stick doesn't go all the way to the right and makes a slight grating/squeaking noise when moving right. I doubt it will make a big difference but for example when aiming in GoldenEye you can noticeably see that the aiming reticle can move further left than it can right. Regardless, it is a massive improvement over the 20+ year old controllers I have been using and I will be purchasing another of these for player 2.

Nice little controller. Materials used are good quality. Buttons feel solid and everything is working as expected. No lag from what I can see. My only complaints about the controller are the position of the L and R buttons. They feel too far down and the way my fingers rest on the controller I sometimes miss an input due to this. The Original N64 controller is far more comfortable however the analog is what makes this new controller a bit of a win. Would recommend.

This a great controller, especially for the price. Some may find the stick a little sensitive but you get used to it fairly quickly. Aiming on perfect dark for example was a little tricky at first compared to the classic n64 controller, but not enough to make it a game breaker. I also found this works great with Mario Kart 64, as the improved stick can be chucked around a bit more to help with drifting without the feeling you're breaking the stick.

I bought this as I was led to believe that it was 33~50% larger than the Hori as that controller is too small for me. Size-wise there's next to no difference. It's a great controller all in and has a better Start button and nicer shoulder buttons than the Hori. It's still too small for me though. If you're a gamer of the larger hand variety, the search continues. Maybe a 'Tribute64 XL' down the line would be nice?

Don’t often write a review! But this controller for the N64 for the money is absolute champion! The stick feels ace and just feels like the controller that should have cone with the N64 back in the day. The quality is spot on!If you have an N64, don’t buy a crap knock off or an original one that’s 25 years too old. Just get one of these and enjoy some classic gaming!Right! Back to Zelda ???

Absolutely fantastic controller. Takes the basic design from the Hori Mini pad for the N64 (on the left in my image) and improves on it in every way - better buttons and triggers, larger/more comfortable design and the stick is perfect. Sensitivity is spot on, no issues aiming in Goldeneye or using cannons in Mario 64.Best N64 pad hands down. I'll be buying three more.

Solid little controller. I now have the blue and red ones.I use it for throws on Mario to save my OEM one. Brilliant alternative to the Hori at a fraction of the cost. It’s really good for racing games as well as the stick is a lot more sensitive than the OEM so makes handling a breeze.Highly recommended.

Absolutely great. I have several original controllers and a raphnet gamecube to N64 adapter. This retrobit controller is everything you need. The stick is responsive and tight. It centres great. Works with rumble and memory packs. For the price they are amazing value.
