Sound Quality ~ ABSOLUTELY SUPERB! I cannot praise this highly enough. Whether struck with beaters or hands, the sound emitted holds a beautiful depth of tone and lasting resonance. From the absolute novice and first strike, confidence will undoubtedly flourish.Drum sides ~ super tough covered with a highly durable visually enticing, vibrant Rain Forest design. The four feet are a toughened rubber which prevents sliding; from carpet to tiles and laminate floors. They don't leave marks either. The lower support they are attached to is also super tough... an apparent Remo theme. Total Height approx 7 7/8 " 20 cm.Drum head ~ extremely securely attached and hard wearing FIBERSKYN'3 not animal derived.The underside is a smooth type of plastic with a top 'skin-like' layer. This has a grain look and texture similar to that of a natural skin head. Beautifully smooth yet not slippy, a pleasure to play. This does not need tightening, as the picture shows there are no keys. Our drum has been out in the full heat of summer and in the deep freeze of our house winter nights with heating off. It's as new, absolutely no warping or distortion. Diameter approx 10 " 25.5 cm.Beaters x 2 ~ super sturdy black non shatter, slight flex plastic handles. Firm rubber/high density foam heads, unsure exactly what, covered with soft black fabric. This is securely bound onto the handles with a soft black plastic 'twine-like' fixing. The ends are capped with black soft plastic, giving a little cushioning. They both look very neat and professional, just like the drum. Total Length approx 10 6/8 " 27.5 cm.After looking at countless drums including toy versions, we repeatedly came back to Remo. Every aspect of this drum is completely child friendly. It's a perfect size for kneeling at, sitting cross legged, legs either side or sitting on a low stool to play. Witnessing Remo surviving use of an industrial scale within the school environment, shows it's virtually indestructible.My little one has enjoyed the Floor Tom now for over two years, drumming hard both with the beaters and hands. This has withstood incredible force when a manic 'sesh' is in full swing. Often a line of saucepans, up turned buckets and boxes are included in larger 'gigs'. This is aiding learning to create a variety of sounds for different moods; from the deeper middle of the drum head to the higher pitched outer edge with finger tips. Everything about this drum just makes 'you' want to play it. Absolutely brilliant purchase!

This is a very nice drum, which is really durable too. Or I should rather write in the past because we no longer have it. It lasted for a three years until my 4 year old son made a hole in it with a totally blunt object, which really surprised me, after all that this toy has been through.It was originally bought for my daughter's third birthday and she was very happy with it and played with it a lot to our neighbour's dismay. After some time it did not look quite as good as new from the same reason our wallpapers and wall stickers don't. The skin is not a skin, but a thin sheet of fabric with some kind of leathery paper on it. Kids peel off the paper.It changed it's sound slightly but not in a bad way.I really think that it was a good buy and that it lived a full and long life. I can recommend it to any parents of kids who are toy destroyers or like a rough play. Some kids tend to use toys in unexpected ways, but that's OK as long as they don't do anything dangerous. For example, this drum was a musical instrument but also a step stool, a cart (kids turned it upside down, put things in it, pushed it from room to room - that's how they scuffed the edges of the skin so they were able to peel the paper off), a table, a shelf etc. They played with with mullets or hands and every visiting kid wanted to play this drum as soon as she/he saw it too. We will be buying another one soon, maybe in different size, for Christmas.

This is a high quality instrument with a good vibrant tone (and volume). The mallets are a good size and weight for children.This might seem a little expensive for a kid but this is a proper instrument, not a toy. Unlike toy drums which are higher pitched and poor sound quality, this is an excellent percussion instrument. It is loud but as the sound is far superior to cheap toys, it’s easier to live with. Very good for teaching rhythm and counting but also just great fun to play.

My 5 year old asked for this and was not disappointed. It makes a lovely deep sound and isn't annoying at all. I think a tinny one would be but this is nice. It is a good size (not too big or small), looks lovely quality, makes a good noise and is very bangable! I defy you to not want to have a drum roll on this!

My son loves this drum (he's 1 year old). He's making a lot of noise with it but seeing his face is priceless, and it keeps him entertained. He also likes turning it upside down and climbing into it, as well as using it as a seat (right way up).

My son loves it, I (truthfully) love it, but it is really really loud.You can muffle it my putting a towel in the bottom, but my son clocks that straight away and pulls it out.But it is a lovely drum, if a bit pricey.

My 15 month old grandson is delighted with this (although I'm not sure that my daughter is quite so pleased). Has a really good sound and very easy to use. We particularly liked the colourful sides and the quality.

Remo drums are just great. The quality is very good and they can last for many years. As a music therapist I recommend this drums . Quality is good, sound is great, appealing to kids, synthetic skin

The drum was exactly as described in the write up, a separate pair of drum sticks were also purchased so the floor drum could be played instead of just banged, and produces a great earthy sound.

I love these drums. Solid and they make a brilliant sound. Perfect for children to play with on their own but large enough for 2 children or 3 little ones to play together
