When I look for gaming headsets to buy, I always consider the sound quality (obviously), comfort, noise cancellation quality, the bass (for footsteps) and the mic quality, so this review will be mainly based on those things.Sound QualityThe sound quality is phenomenal, all reviews say “for this affordable price, the sound quality is great”, but I don’t think that is fair, I believe the sound quality is great for 3 times the price of these headphones. Everything is crisp and clear. In addition to this, something I did not expect, these headphones are great for movie watch and music as well! The bass shakes the headphones but doesn’t overshadow the trebles and the highs.The 7.1 surround system software that you can download (with the activation code provided with the purchase) works like a charm and is perfect for fps and campaign gaming.ComfortThese headphones are ultra light and have such a compact build, they feel super comfortable on your head and ears. They have a tight fit but with all the padding, you can barely feel the headphones. These are perfect for long hours of gaming, so obviously ideal for these times with everyone being in lockdown and gaming for 12+ hours a day! Also the mic is easy to move around and very flexible which is always a good feature to have.Noise CancellationObviously there isn’t active noise cancellation technology on these headphones but if Razer said there is, they would’ve gotten away with it! You can barely hear things around you, I have a (extremely) loud mechanical keyboard and I cannot hear it at all which is just great. Makes me so immersed in the gameplay and focus on nothing but that.BassI think everyone can figure out the theme of this review by now! Everything is amazing! That goes for the bass as well. As I mentioned, the bass can be strong enough to shake the headphones but doesn’t overshadow all the other sound fx. In gaming, especially for fps games like CSGO and COD, these headphones will be extremely useful as the footsteps are loud and clear and with the amazing surround system, you’ll never have to guess which way the enemy is coming from.Mic QualitySpeechless! Which is kind of an ironic thing to say for this part of the review. Like I said, I have a very very very loud mechanical keyboard and as you can imagine, all my friends are always complaining, so I would have to put my mic input level to the point where they can barely hear me. With the Kraken X, the mic picks up nothing but myvoice, and it is so sharp and clear and all myfriends noticed it straight away. I tested it out on discord and couldn’t believe how good my voice sounds!Bonus!These headphones look so cool, with a matte black finish and lit green Razer logos on the sides.VerdictWould definitely without a shadow of a doubt recommend these to anyone who is looking for headphones, cheap or expensive! -just received the package-the packaging was decent but overall meh. sadly the headphones don't come with a pouch-microphone and speaker test on laptopspeakers ridiculously decent, not the best but far above average, comparing to the Powerbeats Pro sounds relatively the same, 'apart from when the beat drops' as expected. the microphone is not Walmart gaming headphone level but not the best, maybe after fiddling with it my opinion would change. but for now the microphone did not sound as fulfilling as the inbuilt microphone on my Mac.-had to wait for the console to update so that sucked, literally the worst timing.(really triggering).-still waiting for the console updatejust as stated all you need to do is plug into the controller to be connected to the console (xbox 1x).the speakers sound incredible for music, and It means a lot coming from someone that plays with a full sound system normally.noticed the headphones are quite heavy, you can really feel the weight on your neck, but it is manageable. After longer gameplays I would re-review the whole thing.aiit 100% lets go.-Console test (overall)F1 2019The cars sound flat compare to the sound system, an incredible decrease in sound depth *lap times are about a second of :( , maybe i'm rusty or maybe the difference in tone. not sure if its the headphones in particular or all headphones. so take with a pinch of salt. actually to change it to something relatively close to the sound system I went to audio settings, then advanced audio settings then changed radio output device to main output device. it sort of tricks the system, sounds way better and vibrant. I bought these because I was in the market for something good for my games on PC. I was drawn between these and another pair but decided to go with these. They're noise canceling and the microphone works well, but you may need to change some of the settings through the PC for it to suit you better. For the first 3-ish months, you could feel the cooling pads really set in on your ears, it was great. But now they don't really have that much cooling left in them, I can hardly feel it anymore. Not sure if that's just me or the fact I have used them every week. The headset is comfortable though and is adjustable for head sizes. The microphone is stored in the left side of the headset and can be pulled out.I didn't quite like how there wasn't a foam windshield or anything as such to cover it, but I ended up buying a pack anyway, so that's sorted. It has inline volume control and microphone mute with a 3.5mm L-shaped jack. I'm finding that the volume control wheel is a little sensitive, therefore when you do slightly catch it when moving or change position in your seat, your sound will boost to high or will completely mute. Not terrible, but it can be annoying.As I bought the Tournament Edition, I got the THX Spatial Sound Controls, where you can plug in your headset and then plug the THX Spatial Sound Controls by USB into the computer. This has some features that are good to have on hand, such as volume up/down, microphone mute (lights up with a red ring when muted), a 'THX Spatial Audio' button that lights up green when turned on, bass controls and priority between game and chat audio. It has a sticky back so that you can place it anywhere and it will never move. I have it on the leg of my desk and it looks great. When you plug this in, you get Razer's Synapse, which is their version of customisation and full control over the headset and Spatial Audio. It's useful and good software, easy to use, and recommended.The sound from these is amazing, and the microphone holds up pretty well too. I use the onboard sound card. I have also tested these on PS4 and found that they do the exact same job. However, because PS4 doesn't support 7.1 surround sound etc, you can use it to its full capability.Up until recently, the microphone started to sound 'robotic' as my friends would call it. I do think this may be because of my sound card not being up to standard and not due to the headset, which was my initial thought.I've since tested the headset on my laptop, both with and without the THX Spatial Sound Controls, and found it working perfectly, so I'll need to install a new sound card on my PC.

Took a little set up, the razor drivers are a little annoying, they require online activation to use the 7.1 features and didn't work at all without them, even with proper drivers. For some reason the servers were acting up, but once I had messed around with them for a while and reinstalled the program and tweaked some windows settings, they work absolutely perfectly and the quality is pretty good. They can go as low as about 30 hz, which for a £50 headset, I wasn't actually expecting, so that's a happy surprise. The sound quality is pretty ace, its not exactly enough to be uncomfortable on max volume, which is good, but I know some people like to have the option to destroy their eardrums.The bass isn't shaky at all, even at high volumes, to be honest I am actually surprised with how good these are. During gaming, the 7.1 features work perfectly (in fps games) but that's to be expected as they're a gaming headset!The microphone is a little annoying, but it is very adjustable and you can pretty much hide it from your eyesight when you're watching movies or listening to music and it stays in place (unlike some cheaper ones that revert back to straight).Microphone quality is pretty amazing to be honest, the volume isn't the highest, you'd be better off getting a standalone mic if that's what you're going for (streaming or whatever) but if you're playing with your buddies or doing general calls, the quality is amazingly clear and there is no feedback or anything.I live in quite an urban area and there are constant sirens and cars, shouting and just general noise pollution, but the moment I put these on (even without playing any sound) I was impressed at how well they block sound. They fit very snugly on my ears and I'm told my ears aren't the smallest. When playing games or listening to music or watching anything, I forget that I live in a busy area, so they're pretty ace. (Unless you're listening for the door, then you're -------.)All in all I would recommend these definitely if you're on a tight-ish budget, or even if you aren't but just don't overly care about the BEST of everything.

4 stars because I've not tested the mic or software. Arguably, the most important things are the speakers anyway!Righto, so out of the box you get the impression that this is a budget product. Sure, the box is nice and all, but inside it is pretty bog standard which is fine. A lot of companies like to dazzle the purchaser with swish packaging that's just going to end up in a whale's stomach anyway so it's nice to see you're not being treated like a nitwit who goes after things because they're swanky looking.I upgraded from a Corsair Void Pro (yes, I consider moving from a £70 product to a £30 product as an upgrade - you'll see why) and was expecting the Razer X to be not as good due to the price.Turns out I was wrong! The USB conector is pretty no-frills (some people like odd-looking connectors, but then some people like drinking petrol so there's no accounting for taste) and the cable is a tough, fibrous plastic. This is important as softer plastics can tear after a few years (the Corsair Void Pro had some very serious cable tearing going on for some reason).Control features are the same as the Void Pro (a headset twice the price, remember?) only not as swish. Button and dial feels cheap, but don't rattle around in their mounts to at least you know they're not going anywhere.The fit is good. Very good, in fact. The headphones fit comfortably over my huge ears, and the headset itself clamps softly over my melon head and doesn't move during rapid head movements or prolonged use. As it's a cheaper product, the headset itself isn't top-heavy and weighs lightly without feeling like the bridge will snap in a couple of months. Speakers are surrounded by some sort of faux leather and provide a rich, heavy sound which is pretty much what most gamers want when listening to grown adults scream like petulant brats during CoD matches. Music is reproduced with charming fidelity that doesn't blot out finer, higher notes with bass.Worth twice the price, really. If you want to replace your headphones with something cheaper without skimping on quality then you can't go wrong here.

Date purchased: May 2020RIP Headphones: September 2020Razer support: UselessI bought these headphones when I purchased my new rig because I redid everything. I wanted a slightly more expensive set but as I spent around 2k on my gaming build, I had to be sensible. I wish I'd spent a little extra at the time and gotten better quality but hindsight is 20/20.For the record, they worked great and I never had an issue with sound quality or voice quality on the mic. The problem is that after about 4 months the sides started to wear through and then snapped completely (as shown in the picture).Because I have limited funds and it's not easy to find the money to replace things, I'm very careful with my stuff.I have a headset stand so these headphones would come off my head and go on their stand until it was time to wear them again. I was not rough with them, I used them as headsets are designed to be used. My previous set lasted over 3 years until there was a fault with the mic itself.I contacted Razer customer support and filed a claim because they should last longer than 4 months. I head back from "Kent" and the gist of his reply was:"Now, going back to your concern. I forwarded the case to our warranty team but failed to proceed with warranty claims as after careful inspection and investigation they deemed the damage as a customer induced."I did NOT cause this. And actually if you look online you'll find more people who've had the exact same issue in the exact same place on these headphones. When they snap, they snap in the exact same place on the headband. That's not a coincidence, that's a design fault. Razer MUST be aware of this and yet they continue to sell this faulty product without addressing the issue all the while blaming their users and denying claims. It's bad faith. It's bad customer support and it's frustrating as hell.So as the title says - DO NOT BUY these headphones. Spend a bit more or go to a better company but I will never buy a Razer product again, they've completely lost my trust.

Some may wonder whether these headphones really are that good. I’m gonna tell you a story. Call of Duty Warzone. It’s the last circle and I’m alone, my teammates dead. As they speak words of encouragement to me, I think GOD THATS GOOD SOUND QUALITY. Situated in Riverside, I sit on the top floor of a house...waiting. I close my eyes, my ears are my weapon of choice and they tell me everything. I hear footsteps below me running up the stairs to my right. I open my eyes and send a RPG rocket at him. Dead. And I think again, GOD THATS GOOD SOUND QUALITY. Separating my team’s voices from the action is too easy. I don’t even have to try, and again I think GOD THATS GOOD SOUND QUALITY. The gas is moving in again.4 Players left. A team of three, and me. This is it I tell myself. I hear a door open across the road and the soft sound of footsteps running up the stairs to the top floor of the building. I train my RPG on the window. Two come into sight. Dead. As the German voices cry through the headset “NEIN” I yell, “take that you krauts”. And again I think, GOD THATS GOOD SOUND QUALITY. Final man. 1v1. Mano e Mano. RPG is my game, but the sound quality of these headphones is my game. As I stare out the window at the two dead bodies, I hear the delicate sound of a door peaking open below me. This is it.I jump out of the window, spring round the side of the house, hear him reloading, smash through the door, my MP5 in hand, I scream F*** OFF GRASSHOPPER, and he’s dead. Simple victory. And for the final time that evening I think GOD THATS GOOD SOUND QUALITY. Another win for the books, another win for the boys, another win for England against three pathetic Germans. I blast Pirates of the Caribbean through the headset and my friends say to me “God thats good sound quality”. I smile. This is my life now. Pure sound quality at all times, wins, ALL THE TIME.

I bought this headset primarily for gaming both on the PC as well as on PS4 and I have not been disappointed whatsoever, this is after buying the Razer Blackshark V2 X which I unfortunately found to be a bit of a tight fit however the Razer Kraken Ultimate I find to be far more comfortable to wear for prolonged periods of time.The build quality is fantastic being reasonably weighty due to the aluminium and steel construction this gives it a reasonable heft to each headphone however not enough to make it noticeable during wear and use. The audio quality is incredibly solid that is with both the output as well as the input, my friends immediately commented that I sounded incredibly clear through the mic and was very well heard.The THX audio support is a very welcome feature and I found that to function very well on games such as Metro Exodus and Hades, the former of which supports THX directly leading to very immersive surround sound.The headset also has some very useful quality of life features such as the cooling gel in the headphone pads which did indeed keep my head and ears quite cool, the microphone is also retractable which allows you to very easily tuck it out of the way when you'd rather have it outside of your vision but even when it is fully extended it doesn't really encroach on your vision that much. Another very handy feature is the easily mutable mic, I found all I had to do to mute it was simply give it a slight squeeze and then the LED on the end of the mic would light up which made it easy to remember that I had myself muted so I wasn't talking to nothing because I forgot I had my mic muted which used to be a common occurrence.Overall a fantastic headset which I honestly can't recommend enough as I have found everything to be fantastic, from the build quality to the audio quality I am not disappointed in any way.

This is a review of the Razer Kraken 2019 headset, which is the 2nd to latest addition of the Kraken lineup, and was a refresh of the previous Kraken models.This headset features Dolby Atmos 7.1 Surround Sound, which is useful when playing battle royale games like PUBG, Fortnite or general first-person shooter games, because by this you can tell where enemies are, as their footsteps can be heard around different directions from you. This feature can also be used for watching movies or listening to music in 8D audio.The headset is easy to set up and plugs into your 3.5mm audio jack, and requires minimal setup. The headset also comes with a spare audio splitter in case your PC has 2 audio sockets,one for mic and output audio. My Kraken 2019 headset came in a satin black finish which looked very modern and stylish, and fitted into any setup. The headset itself was quite heavy and felt good quality, the headset also features soft ear cups suitable for long gaming sessions. The clarity is good and their is barely any noticeable audio distortion. The bass is also high quality and feels really good.The only downside I've found so far is that these headphones are not yet supported by Razer Synapse 3, which is Razer's latest app for managing your peripherals, so if you want to adjust the audio settings for this headset using a suitable GUI, you'll have to downgrade to Razer Synapse 2.Lastly, the price is a little high (Coming in at £80) when placed against other suitable headsets for gaming such as the HyperX Clouds which also feature 7.1 Surround Sound. But in short, this headset is perfect for gamers both on PC and console as they're plug and play and support anything with a 3.5mm jack.

What came in the box:The headset with a connecting cable, it has a functional mute button and a volume control dial on the cable. Alongside the headset, came another cable used for connecting the headset to a PC, the mic and audio cables.Finally, I received some documentation, some stickers and a code for the 7.1 surround sound software - more on this later.General aesthetic:I received my order yesterday, they look great inside the box, extremely well presented. It feels nice, each part is well crafted, pulling the headphones down to fit over the head feels great, nice tactile feel.The microphone is seated inside the headset,if you need to you can pull it and it comes out to about two inches over your mouth so plenty of space.Audio quality:I decided to try them out on the PS4 to see what audio quality was like, it is great. The cooling pads in the headset really make it a lot more comfortable especially when you're in it for the long run.Noise cancellation:I have my music about 80% and there is some bleed, but this is to be expected with over-the-ear headphones, once I have my headset on, there's probably no bleed at all.Other:The only thing that prevented me from giving this 5/5 was the fact that the 7.1 surround sound seems to be handled by a proprietary software that you need a unique code for. If I had bought this second hand I may not have been able to take advantage of this feature. Even still I don't think it is true 7.1 surround sound, I think it is simulated from the software, so bear this in mind before purchasing a used set.Final verdict:Still worth buying, was cheap and just needed something to wear that is comfortable.

I bought the amazon renewed set, as far from I could tell, the box had been opened, thats about it. So win straight away.Installing the drivers, I assume which is why they were sent back... I use them on PC and the software they want you download is a load of rubbish I wouldn't waste your time. I plugged them in, and they were super quiet, I turned the volume up on the USB dongle thing and full on my PC and they were super quiet. I tried re-installing drivers etc, couldn't work out what was wrong. A little googling later... "might sound silly but there is also a volume control on the cord"... This comes wrapped in plastic, I would assume it would be turned up, it comes turned down.My assumption which is why it was sent back :DSo after that faff, they have been amazing! By far the most comfy, I use them too WFH and game so a long amount per day. They really do breathe, I tried the VOID ELITE from corsair, and this is better in every way. My ears would sweat, they were heavy, they moved on your head, the sound was avg.The sound on these are great! Turn on microsoft sonic or Dolby Atmos and they are really good! Anyone who says otherwise is a sound snob and shouldn't be spending £50 on headphones. My friend purchased philips fidelio headphones, which were more than double and guess what. The phillips are better... but not by a huge deal and IMO these are much more comfortable.So if you can get these round the £50 mark, just do it. You won't regret it. I can't speak for anyone who bought them at the £100 price tag they had originally...

I was dissapointed initially, almost regretting my purchase, as set up on PC was a little painful and not as shown in the manual if using the THX dongle. There is also a download key printed on a card in the box for 7.1 sound which I assumed I had to install. It turns out you don't and you manage the THX/Surround for the headphones in Razer Synapse alone.Then, once the headset was working and software installed, I launched COD:MW and the audio was muddy and muffled. I could barely hear my own gunshots and everything just sounded wrong. That's when I realised, by alt-tabbing out of the game to Synapse, the app (COD:MW in this case) appears here and I could change the audio mode for THX.Now it sounded better. Much better in fact.Similarly anything I listened to in Chome - Amazon Prime Music for example - was faint and like I was missing parts of the audio track. Setting Chrome in Synpase to Stereo fixed this and then music sounded great.At this point, once I was familiar with the set up in Windows, I'm more than happy with the headset. Changing the audio options for individual apps in Synapse - for Chrome (stereo), Netflix (surround sound), COD:MW (THX), etc - has meant the headset is working correctly and sounding good. Sound isolation is pretty good and I'm no longer being shouted at for audio-leakage as I do when using my open back headphones. Also the headset has remained comfortable over a 1-2 hour period of use.

I have had trouble over the years finding comfortable gaming headphones, usually after some time I'm accepting an amount of pain to keep playing and I already suffer from a debilitating illness so even the better sets I have found didn't cut it for me.These however so far have yet to cause new any grievance due to the headset themselves, that's quite incredible. Not only are they not uncomfortable, I find them pleasing to wear, my ears feel comfy. More comfortable than without them.Moving onto the microphone, the next most important thing for new due to using it for most of my communication outside of my close family, it's replaced my Blue Snowball Ice,it's just not worth the space on my desk as these work just as well if not better for cutting out noise. Maybe if I was doing a podcast or something, I'd expect more but for chatting and gaming, I love it. I use it for VoiceAttack and it picks up everything clearly despite my thick Scottish accent, that's impressive.Sound quality is really good for the price, surround sound is added through Razer's own app and it works well with most games I've been playing.Looks wise, not something I choose my gaming equip on but I got the white set and it goes well with my white keyboard and white mouse, I can't complain, it's a bonus.The wire is well protected and long, it has nice easy to use controls. All round it's a great but of equipment for a decent price.

Re revised review.Kraken Tournament EditionXbox one ps4 wii u and pc tested.Nice clear speech bothwaysGood volumes nice and loud.No distortion when you crank up your fav shooter and nice quality on adventure games.The THX dongle for pc (does work on ps4 as a amped headphone) so a little louder than just plugging in the controller, although that's loud anyway.Good all rounder tested with dolby atmos and worked a treat on xbox and Netflix atmos supported movies.Many times in online multiplayer shooters I have spun round and killed players because this headset allowed me to hear them coming. Always a plus.Comfort.Light, comfy cool gel earphones, glasses wearers these are excellent to,over head band you forget is there no over sweat issues either.Durability these will last as long as you look after them, a lot of metals in the build quality, shame the cable isn't removable incase the wire was ever damaged but not an issue here.On pc you may find the mic doesn't work when you plug in your USB THX dongle,Please install razers synapse software to control the headsets volumes and features and all is perfect.Hope that's helps, anyone that reads my reviews know I'm harsh on items and know what I'm on about, I've been in the electronics game years and know quality wise what's good.These are good. I give overall 8/10 as always room for improvement. A good solid buy.

The overall product is of good quality, the sound is clear and the bass is nice. The sound dampening is extremely effective (blocking out the sound of people sitting right behind me)The mic quality appears to be good too, however I did have to run the Microsoft Microphone Troubleshooter to stop it from cutting out too soon.My only issue for the product is the drivers. As this is a Razer product, the drivers aren't generic 7.1 audio drivers.You have to download the dedicated Razer drivers from their website. This includes 2 separate drivers if you want to adjust the lighting on the headphones (which is more of a flaunt than a requirement)However, with the 7.1 surround sound audio drivers,you must download them direct from Razer (again, not much of an issue). But, the one step that I didn't like was having to enter a product code to use the softwareThis will damage the resale value (as without your account, someone wont be able to use the 7.1 functionality without third party drivers)There's also a few hoops to jump through to get the 7.1 to work properly, which isn't ideal.I'd generally recommend these headphones, but advise that setting them up is more lucrative than it's needed to be.I'm giving 4 starts because of the licensing situation, which seems like a cheap move from Razer to ensure their products don't get resold.
