I bought this in May, and my daughter was only 14 months old. She wasn't too interested in it at the time, never went to it on her own and if I sat her on it she would stay there a few seconds then get off and toddle off to do something else. She only began walking in may too, so when this arrived she wasn't very steady on her feet yet and I think this may have had an impact on her confidence. She didn't feel very secure perched up on the seat. However, around 18 months old, the scuttlebug seemed to become far more interesting. She started sitting on it herself, and couldn't quite figure out how to make it move forwards, so would either go backwards, or would stand on the floor, holding the handlebars, and just sort of walk along with it between her legs! She's now 20 months old and has got the jist. She'll jump onto it, yell 'zoom zoom!' and speed off around the house. I'm forever finding it in whatever room she's abandoned it in, or being rammed in the back of the legs by it!Occasionally it will topple over, I think this is just when she gets too excited and tried to go faster than her legs are capable of holding her steady. It is a fantastic size, it folds up so small you can take it anywhere, and it's not very heavy. We've had no problems with it being too small for her. Saying that, she's very small for her age, however I do think it's going to be perfectly useable for a while. I'm expecting it to get a lot of use in the garden and on walks next summer.I would say that it's better when they're at an age where they're steady on their feet and confident with walking, it requires leg power and coordination for them to move.

I bought one of these for my daughter's second birthday, which isn't until next month, so I can only really give my thoughts. The Scuttlebug is a brilliant size, very lightweight and easy to carry. Even the box itself is tiny, so it's going to be so easy to wrap for her birthday. It took no time at all to figure out how to put the Scuttlebug up and down. My husband had a little ride about on it, and I had to practically threaten him to get it back in the box, he wanted to play on it some more. Even put up the Scuttlebug is teeny, so it can be used indoor or out, with a large enough room, and it's nowhere near as bulky as a trike would be, making it much easier to store. My only gripe is the lack of colours,as they're available elsewhere in different colours, but thankfully my daughter loves ladybirds. It's recommended for age 1-3, but my daughter is so petite that it'll probably do her til she's 4. In all, we're very happy with our purchase and can't wait to see her riding around on it on her birthday :)

I was looking for something for my little boys 2nd birthday. He loves ride on toys but struggled to steal stuff to find which direction he could go to. I saw this and the reviews looked great so thought I'd give it a go. I was a bit short notice with buying this to his birthday so was hoping for a fast delivery! Well... I had an instant dispatch email! And the next morning his bike had arrived!!!I opened it up and LOVE the size. It's big enough for my two year old but it's small enough to nicely put to the side when it's put up but something that's even better is that the legs fold down and it goes tiny so u can store away or u can pack it up to take on holiday easily or to take out with you!Well we wrapped it up and on his birthday he LOVED IT.It's been a few weeks now and he still rides it every day around my house and garden. Round shops. To the park etc!I would definitely recommend this bike!

My daughter got this when she was 18 months old and she loves it. She is now 2 and still insists on being taken everywhere on it. I use a piece of rope on the front of it to help tow her along some of the steeper inclines, but otherwise, she is fairly self-propelled. It can be a little unsteady and she has gained a few grazed knees, but then I think grazed knees are hard to avoid if you're a child! She at least learnt to slow down around the corners. The construction is sturdy yet light. I can easily carry it with one hand when she gets tired of scuttling around. It packs flat in a matter of about 1 minute,to make it easily stored in the car or in a buggy.I would recommend this product and I think it is a good lead to a 2 wheel device!

My little girl is 17 months and is quite tall so this is unlikely to last anyway near as long as 3yrs. I have also caught my fingers a couple of times when trying to fold it up (partly through my own foolishness). There is no chance of this happening to your little one and the scooter seems well made and robust overall. Being on 3 wheels makes this a little easier to topple over than a ride on which is basically a square plastic box on 4 wheels. However, my little girl loves it to the extent that we need to subtly hide it when we want her to go up to her bath or out the door to avoid a complete melt down. The compact nature of it is also really helpful for taking it away and storing it at home - really pleased I bought this product

I do not know what I did without it. I have a very lively 19mth old boy who likes nothing more then to be out and about running around doing wild little boy things. This bike is a total godsend I recently had to collect a family member from the airport and as usual there were a few delays the normal airport things, thankfully I had this item in the basket of the pushchair and he was able to nip about and play without too much fuss and had almost an hour of fun before we had to leave. Had i not had the bike I would have had to try and keep him occupied in a crowded place where there are a number of things he would be curious about but would no doubt be too dangerous for him to entertain.

Such a great ride on. I think they are a great introduction to riding bikes or scooters. Small enough to ride around the kitchen table and to start quite little kids on but also sturdy enough for big kids to sit on when they visit. My favourite thing about them is that you can collapse the wheels in and fold them up small enough to pop under the pram and take them out to the park. My kids loved riding them around the local park and it meant that when we got scooters 6 mnths later, they already knew how to steer and push with their feet. They pict up scooters and balance bikes really fast and I’m sure it’s because they loved their scuttlebugs and ride them every day.

I bought this scuttle bug as a Christmas present for my then 18 month old. He absolutely loves it and rides it all around the house as well as down the park. It took him a while to learn to sit down on it and push with his feet as he just used to shuffle with it between his legs! Now I think it is probably his favourite toy. It is very sturdy and folds up small and I love the fact that I can carry my son and the scuttle bug home from the park very easily if I need to as it is not bulky. Also, as we have a small house it is perfect for indoor use too as it takes up very little space even when not folded up.

We are still using this 3 summers after we bought it and long after sun exposure turned it pink! It's quite slow as the wheels are rather small and the mechanism for the back two legs can be quite stiff - both an advantage as kids can't easily do it so you know an adult had made sure it's up correctly, and a disadvantage if you are not so strong (guilty). Could be greatly improved by adding a ring to the front bar for kids who need pulling along to get them started, adding a ring to the back so it could be carried like a bag would also be great. Quite disappointed how quickly it lost it's colour.

I bought this for my two year old for my 5 year old's birthday- as my 5 year old was getting a bike so i did not want her to feel left out. My two year old took to it straight away and rides it up and down the path like an old veteran!! It is a joy to watch her on it as she has a real look of skill and contentment on her face when she rides it! I love the way it folds away with great ease and the overall look and quality of the Scuttlebug is 5 star. Excellent buy- excellent value for money- looks and feels as though it should of cost twice the price it did!

Its a great toy. Our son loves his. My only reason to dock a star, is that due to the design, the steering handles are very close to the body, making it a little difficult to steer. Now, having said that, I understand they did that as steering and front wheel are on the same rod and in order for the front wheel to be forward enough to provide good stability. There is another version with 4 wheels where the steering is farther forward which is better. But this is far more compact. Horses for courses? Maybe the design could be improved to address this issue!?

Bought for my tall 19 month old boy. Too tall for his standard ride one. He has taken a few attempts to get the hang of the 3 wheeler and the handle but he whizzes around now and is getting better daily. His 3 yr Old sister also enjoys it.Great design, nice and bright. Good for use indoor and out.Has a very handy fold down flat mechanism making it easy to fit into the car or store in tight spaces.Great buy. No negative points other than being delivered without packaging so he saw the scuttlebug box and picture when it arrived and was ment to be a gift.

After seeing numerous children on these things in the park I thought it would make a great birthday present for my friends 1 year old daughter. She absolutely loves it, and my friend commented on how neatley it folds away when not in use. It is sometimes difficult transporting a trike or ride on to the park when you also have a raging toddler in tow, and these things are so small and lightweight they are ideal for taking out when its just the two of you. My little boy is too big for these now but baby number 2 will definitely be getting one!

These are brilliant little things. My son has had his for a few years and he absolutely loves it so I bought this for my niece for xmas. They fold up so small you can stick it in your bag or the basket of the buggy. When it's up it looks so neat and itsnt big and cumbersome like a trike. Easy to ride and manoeuvre for little ones. I couldn't say a bad word about it and Iv had one for 2 years so it's had plenty chance to break or get bored of and neither has happened.I wish they would make a bigger version for kids 3-5yrs too.

Highly recommended...I bought this 2 years ago when my son was 1, and this is the one toy that I can honestly say he's got our monies worth. We even took it on holiday abroad as it folds down small, didn't take much room in the suitcase, and was a life saver on holiday, kept him occupied for hours. He absolutely loves this, and although we've bought him a balance bike since he's got bigger, he still goes back to this. It's definitely his favourite toy ever. The biggest plus is that we got it on offer at half price!!!
