As a long term driving game fan going back to the C64 (yes, I am that old), I buy quite a few driving titles, and like variety. So I am just as happy with an arcade racer as I am with a more serious simulator style game. The Project cars series falls into the latter bracket. I am sure there are more indepth games on the PC, but when it comes to the PS4, the only thing that probably comes close is Assetto Corsa (which I admit I have not played). Gran Turismo touts itself as a real driving sim, but in all honesty it isnt. Yes it has sim elements, but overall the driving itself is very arcade orientated.I loved the first Project cars, even though I did struggle with some of the higher end cars (some of the classic Lotus F1 cars I just could not control at all), but I put that down to me playing using a controller. It is a very controller friendly series, but I think if you use a wheel you will get better control without a doubt. So I pre-ordered the collectors edition of PC2 and have been playing since yesterday.Personally I think this one is a lot less forgiving than the first game as I seem to be struggling more even with lower end machines. Hell, I could pretty much dominate Kart races in the first game but in this one I spend most of my time spinning. This may be because I have not been playing PC1 for a while and have played a few arcade racers since then, so I just need to reaclimatise myself. The important thing with anyone buying this, regardless of you choice of controller, is that it is not for the casual gamer. The kind that likes to thrash around in Need for speed, or bounce off walls to get around corners quicker. A slight mistake in this game will often end in a spin or a car equivalent of a tank slapper. Although I think you may be able to turn penalties off, they are pretty harsh when turned on. Cut a corner and overtake or gain advantage and you will be given 30 seconds or so to give the position back. In one race I had not even realised I had cut a corner that bad, and went from second to first only to be told "drop back to 4th or you will get a drive through".Like most games, the penalties do seem a little harsh sometimes as I may have used a curb through a corner a time or two, but I am certain I did not have all four wheels on it. This gives you a perfect chance to perfect your professional Formula 1 style complaints and whines ;)AI seems to be pretty good as well. I did suffer a few nerfs and taps here and there from computer controlled players, but overall, they seem to give way during overtakes if it looks like it will end up with one or both of you being taken out. There are driving assists that can be turned on and off, but from personal testing of these, I do not see much difference with them being on or off.The braking one does seem to apply brakes at random times when you hit bumps etc though, so I think this is best left off in case.If you are struggling to get a car around a circuit without driving assists, you are better off messing about with the controller settings first, to set things like braking dead zones and steering sensitivity, amongst a plethora of other settings. And of course car set up is crucial. With the car set up, if you are not so technically minded, there is a fantastic option to ask your engineer to make suggestions depending on what your problem is, then choose from one of his suggestions.Of course, being a community based game, once it has been out a little while, there will be plenty of gamers posting videos on youtube for better settings, so don't be afraid to admit that some people know better than you and steal their settings.I have to give this 5 stars because the only faults with this game so far are down to my skills (or rather lack of right now) . It has a fantastic roster of cars and tracks and has improved significantly from the first game. The only downers for me is that the cars themselves are mostly hold overs from the last game, and that due to system restrictions the PS4 version did not get the VR mode like the PC version. I know DriveClub took a heavy hit on graphics, but I believe a lot of that was due to Sony firing the developers and little to no effort being put in. Gran Turismo seems to show that better graphics can be achieved as long as you cut down on how many cars are on track. I would have been more than happy to have had only 1v1 races in PC2 if it meant we could get a version of VR too, because I think this would have killed every other racing VR.

I wanted to come on amazon just to write a review to say how awesome this game is, its truly magical and something i keep going back to everyday (having owned this for around 3 days) spending around 3-4hrs of continuous play on the PS4 Pro.I managed to pick this up for about £25 and also have Gran Turismo Sport so after playing PC1 on the Xbox One S and having difficulties playing on the controller i was skeptical going into PC2 but thankfully they have revamped the control pad and is much more playable and to some extent enjoyable using the controller on the PS4 as the cars don't actually spin out every corner (like they did in PC1 no matter what speed you were going)and are much more driveable and you can actually hit the corners at good speed without losing control but slight niggle and not with the game but when turning with the control pad you don't get the full extent of rotation as you would with a actual steering wheel so sometimes with certain cars they don't turn fully or smoothly and you have to really push the dpad all the way around on the controller but sadly don't see a investment in a actual steering as they cost quite a fair amount. In terms of content there is nice selection of cars around 180 and they all sound fantastic with proper real life sound of the engines and if you are choosing which 1st car to drive after picking this up drive the McLaren P1 GTR as it sounds and drives fantastically and truly one of the cars of this generation. The McLaren 720s is a mad car because driving straight when hitting top speed is difficult as the car does not stay straight.Haven't tried Career Mode as of yet as im still learning and trying to win races as it really difficult game which i like as i mentioned im coming back to the game playing everyday trying to perfect and win as much races as i can, it does have the addiction factor because you want to be the best driver whilst also having fun as i feel the balance is just about right in PC2 compared to PC1 as that went way tooo over board in terms of Sim racing, this is the 1st game where i look forward to playing everyday and not had this feeling since the days of the PS2 back in 2002-05.If there is one negative that is the A.I, the A.I are really bad in my opinion and the worst compared to say Forza and Gran Turismo because whenever you start off a race the A.I cars just ram into you taking you off the track which get annoying real fast as if its like A.I don't know that your there instead of avoiding you and going around you, this is somewhat not too bad when you turn the A.I aggression down to 0 (caution) in the setting menu but i feel Slightly Mad Studios need to address this again as i have read that it was dealt with from the update patches but not the case. All in all im really happy with this game and i feel its money well spent and don't have regrets as i did with PC1 the 1st time around, based on the reviews some 2 stars 1 stars etc don't let those put you off buying this, at the right price it is now at £25 its a really great game with a good learning curve and needing to have patience as the game does reward you and that happy all round feeling you have when you do win a race eventually.Thank you SMS for creating a magical game...Buy it...

Absolutly love this game! I play on a controller and I am able to play it, more-so if you tweak the settings of the car...I was drawn to PC2 because it includes lesser known racing car and series' and it really does not dissapoint. It has multiple racing series and cups for even the lowest series around tracks that the actual series' go to. For example the Ginetta Junior Championships only go to British tracks, as per in real life. It also gets more praise for having these lesser known tracks like Knockhill (Its our only one in Scotland!), Snetterton and Donnington Park.I was getting tired of Gran Turismo and other racing sims that went to 5 or 6 real tracks throughout the globe that were famous, but had no continuity to them and with the rest being generic, made up tracks.More-so having small racing car manufactures like Ginetta is another reason why I bought it. Growing up, I watched the BTCC with Ginetta supporting races and instantly fell in love with the junior cars, G55s ect - and finding a game with moden Ginettas in is neigh on impossible until now (last game which had a Ginetta in in was Test Drive Unlimited)Some people are also rating this game down on the AI being too aggressive, but I dont mind it at all, it feels as if they are actually humans controlling the cars with them occasionally making mistakes or bumping into yor car. I much prefer this to other racing games where the AI just follow a prescribed route and never challenge for positions. For being immersive and making you feel as if you are a racing driver, no other games gets anywhere close to this. Id say PC2 is more orientated to single player to build up a career and win trophies, adding to the immersive feeling. There are a couple minor things wrong with the game however, like the graphics of objects in mirrors being jagged and some scenery popping into view as you approach, however, for me, that is not worth taking a star off this game .In conclusion - If you follow a particular neich motorsport like Rallycross, Porshe Cups, GT3 racing ect and want to feel as if you are competing in these events by going through practice to fine tune your car, qualifying and then race then I cannot recomend this game enough, in my opinion it is absolutly fantastic, nothing comes close. However, if you dont have an attachment to racing and the like, or you want a game to hop into and race, then maybe think about another game.

Even though this is available via xbox ulimate pass etc, I still bought this game for under a tenner as Microsoft keeps increasing the xbox pass prices. Unfortunately - to play the multiplayeer and take advantage of the online facilities you need to have some sort of paid xbox live account now :(Project Cars 2 has fundamentally positioned itself over and above Forza Motorsports and other racing titles by aiming for the E-Sports market. There are plenty of big money, big prize competitions to take part in. This is where Project Cars 2 outshines the other racers. The other main difference is that Project Cars 2 is a hardcore racing sim unlike Forza etc, and caters for racers who are hardened in their racing craft,so you wont find tutuorials as such here. It's all about racing. The sim elements are very extensive and this features heavily if you want to carve out a career in Project Cars 2.One of the interesting points about Project Cars 2 is that the developers focused on making the game more playable and accessible via a steering wheel, pedal and gearshift setup, rather then via the xbox gamepad. The xbox gamepad just does not cut it unfortunately, and the only way to play this game is via either Logitech G920 Steering wheel or Thurstmaster wheel. The other point about this game are the fantastic weather features which are so in-depth and graphically rich that they really add to the gameplay experience. The massive roster of cars and tracks also is a great addition, and the variious options available in-game make something like Forza (although a great game also), feel empty in many ways.Project Cars 2 then although has been available for a few years now, the fact the steering wheel bundles especially for the Xbox are now available at good prices make the game worth a re-visit. If you dont intend buying a steering wheel or dont have one, then by pass this game. Which is a shame as the developers really should have made the extra to put the xbox gamepad a top priority, instead their relentless focus on realism and simulation means that you have to purchase a wheel. Please note that Project Cars 3 is being released immenently which from initial reviews is much more focused at the Forza casual pick and play crowd, so you may wish to hold out for that, but for the rest of us Project Cars 2 is the destination.

I have my moments with this driving sim good, bad and frustrating and back to fantastic all in one session. PC2 is nowhere near as forgiving as GT Sport, it's graphics are not as good, it lacks the eye candy when playing on a PS4 pro even when the settings are maxed out. When playing with the PS4 controller it can be a total nightmare, but that said there are a lot of folk out there on Youtube who have shared hours of setting up the controller. So you will find help and with patience get something that suits you. My big issue is when going into a bend a bit too quick you turn the controller and the game wheel hardly moves and you end up with no steering until just before you hit the armco.Up to that point all the cars feel and handle well as right as I could imagine. Yep Okay, it is a sim and not an arcade game but full lock and simulated tyre scrub and loss of grip would be a far better simulation if you are going a bit to quick. I think as with all driving games a wheel and pedal set up is best, I had it on my PC, but now I play my games on the big telly in the lounge via the PS4 pro.Where PC2 really wins out over GT Sport is in its Off Line play it just goes on and on every class of racing, every track and more important every car is available to you to load up and drive. Yes you have a career mode so you have to progress. But you don't have to waste hours bashing around an oval track building up 1,000,000+ in credits just to get the drive you want to take on Nurburgring in an expensive Ferrari or Porsche LMP1.When I started this review I gave Project Cars 2 3 stars, but that is a bit unfair, it's harder yes, but it is so rewarding when you get it right. Have I loaded Grand Turismo Sport lately, once just to check out an update. I just wish that PC2 had graphics of a higher standard, I would not change anything about the game other than improve the way it handles with a PS4 controller.Perhaps I could design and build a seat, wheel and pedal set up that I could push from room to room, now there's an idea!!

Project Cars 2 is a thrilling and highly rewarding racing game. It is difficult and sometimes unforgiving but with a little persistence provides an incredible racing experience.Unfortunately Project Cars 2 initial control scheme is awful if you are using a controller. To correct his you can go to [Options] -> [Controls] -> [Configuration] and punch in 0/70/5/85/5/65/10/25/95/20/50/0. If that doesn't suit your driving style then you can google 'Project Cars 2 Controller settings' to try what other people use. I don't understand why the game doesn't come with some presets for the controls. If you suck at racing like I do then you also want the driving line turned on. This can be done in [Options]-> [Gameplay] -> [Onscreen guides + display]Once these two chores have been completed be prepared for a great racing experience. Everything in this game can be configured to the most minute detail. This is your racing game. If you don't like something turn it off or reconfigure it. Having trouble with the difficulty, turn it down. Don't like tyre wear.. turn it off. Keep getting penalised because you drive like a mad man? Turn that off penalties. The game wants you to have fun. It wants you to make it your own experience. The only warning I can give is that this is a driving sim. If you crash, you are crashed and you need to get back on the track losing tonnes of positions. If, like me, you haven't played many racing games the game can initially feel punishing. It is very easy to get a corner slightly wrong and spin out. However, I assure you that if you stick with it you will quickly identify why you spun and correct your driving. You will get better quickly and will soon be challenging for positions. If you want an arcade racer with instant replays and respawning on the track after a crash this is not for you. If you want a racing game where the better driver wins, this is what you want. There is no better feeling then nailing a couple of corners and pulling off a faultless double over take in this time.

Ok so at first I thought it was terrible, the handling was good but with a controller it was a big let down.Project cars 1 was one of my most played games it was fantastic get that corner right and it feels amazing its up there with the very very best driving simulation games. However out of the box PC2 is well a big disappointment and I mean massive. The car feels like its on ice, on its toes and with controller so so poor, what the hell has happened. However give it a tweak with the settings on the controller and it starts to become so so much better. Why the hell did they take the game backwards overall the game has been great (I bought it directly on the PS4).If anyone is interest on how (with a controller)the game gets back up to 4 stars and not a 1 my settings are below. You might want to play with them a bit more maybe.Steering Deadzone: 8Steering Sensitivity: 30Throttle Deadzone: 10Throttle Sensitivity: 25Brake Deadzone: 10Brake Sensitivity: 25Clutch Deadzone: -Cluth Sensitivity: -Speed Sensitivity: 92Damper Saturation: 100Controller Damping: 70Give these are go if you are ready to never play the game again, you might find its playable again.PC2 developers we don't all have a wheel and pedals so don't forget those with a controller please and tweak things to improve things even more in an update.Wants- Give us more control over the ESP / Brakes etc. Not on or off give us 1-5- Allow changes to the above settings in game like Gran Turismo Sport does- Update the handling model is great but it can't be unplayable get us back to PC1 with the PC2 graphics and improved physics please!!!

I'm a seasoned car sim player - with a proper wheel & pedal set up. I've been playing Gran Turismo since it first appeared for the PS back in the 90's and have upgraded over the years. Nothing came close to GT on the Play Station until Project Cars launched. The original Project Cars was a very impressive first attempt but it didn't, in my opinion genuinely convey the tyre to track adhesion feel. This is one of the most important aspects for a simulator to help hone your driving skills.I took delivery of Project Cars 2 last night and I couldn't stop playing it. Great selection of cars, tracks, nice graphics, online community blah blah all of this is nice & very welcome, but the it is the feel of the car that blew me away.I regularly drive on tracks and have spent time on the factory Ferrari simulators as well as the Williams F1 setup. Both were great (particularly the Ferrari one). To come anywhere close to what those setups achieve with feel is extremely impressive.Scanning through the many submitted reviews, I agree, don't bother if you don't intend to use a wheel! But - please make sure that you go to the control settings in the game and CALIBRATE both the wheel and the pedals! Without doing so the game can't correctly determine what you're trying to do. Also, read the instructions for the steering calibration process very carefully, the 2nd step particularly. I can only guess that most people fail to do this as so many reviews say the game is unplayable. This is simply not true!HIGHLY recommended.

Having picked up the first game and enjoyed it I had to pick up the sequel.I’ve put about 8 hours into this game and I’m still thoroughly enjoying it.This games had very good press I cannot understand why there is so many negative reviews?I’m no racing sim expert I enjoy many driving games but this isn’t a hard game. This game can be fine tuned to your skill with all the normal driver aids available to really help beginners. The AI can be adjusted to player skill with options of how aggressive/ passive they are. Here’s a summary of what I like about the game and what I don’t like. What’s great:-phenomenal sound design, the cars in this game sound fantastic!Especially the Lamborghini Veneno!-Detail of the cars is superb-many options to fine tune the difficulty-an insane choice of tracks-wide range of cars F1, rally, touring, indie and regualar cars. What’s not so great so far,-Handling in wet conditions and ice. This is one bug bear I have about this game and why it’s lost one star.Cars are uncontrollable in these conditions to the point where it’s actually unfair. The AI even on easy difficulty can somehow get around the track without spinning up at all where as the players car will constantly snake about everywhere. This is particularly with RWD cars but even with all driver aids on this shouldn’t happen so violently all the time. Please patch this!-No support for VROverall it’s an 8/10 from me

Opted for a digital download instead of a retail copy. First impressions are very positive. No idea why people who are not verified have even commented on this game. The graphics are a huge improvement over the original ( using the PS4 PRO ) with enhanced visuals, HDR etc. The locations and cars are crisp, clear and very detailed. With HDR enabled on a compatible TV the visuals simply are stunning. This game is not meant for pick up and play arcade style forzathon sessions, this is a racing simulator for users who appreciate authenticity. If you have a controller then I suggest you get a wheel ( personally I use a T300rs + Th8A =T3pa ) for the ultimate experience. The wheel is ready to go from the get-go but you can customise it to your preference. The menu system has been updated and easy to navigate. So far the career mode is immersive and keeps you busy ( I started with Ginetta Juniors ) and you have more choice over future decisionswith teams etc.I highly recommend this game. Ignore the people who slate the game comparing to the original when they clearly haven't played it.The developers have done a cracking job with this sequel and I cannot wait to try out all the other gaming types and forms of Motorsport.I have included a few screenshots captured directly from my PS4 PRO

After updates and having time and patience, I now quite like PC2. Wheel and pedal adjustments are the big issue. There are still some bugs and I find the rallyX horrible but its a game you have to persist with. After playing awful GT Sport, I'm glad I stuck with it.Previous reviews:On standard PS4 this is a step back graphically, trees etc look so 2 dimensional, shadows look blocky and no sense of speed. Some of the new tracks look rushed, Red Bull Ring especially. Handling on my wheel feels, well there is no feel! OK there is lots to tweek and it's early days, but definitely feels more like quantity over quality. Handling is harder. Some nice additions and clever options but overall dissapointed.Dirt4 does rallycross better.Update: After persevering for many hours with this, I now rate it 2 stars. All these people saying this is an accurate simulator are talking tosh. You may have invested a fortune in an expensive rig, but this is not a real representation of driving cars! Even some one like me in real life, could cautiously get a BMW M1 around say Bannochbrae, without smashing it into half the barriers.Using the same car on the same track comparing (same wheel settings) it to PC1, show how bad PC2 really is handling wise.

Had GT sport on pre-order last year but luckily played the demo before release. Cancelled the pre-order the same day as the handling was so unrealistic (playing with a wheel btw) and I just didn't find it fun at all.Played the PC2 demo last year on a Dual Shock 4 controller and thought 'meh'. Fast forward a few months and saw this on offer for £23.Before ordering I fired up the demo again but this time connected my T300RS wheel. I immediately realised just how good this game is with a wheel.I bought the full version, and am having a blast with it. I don't like online racing so I've been playing with offline races. The realism, graphics, immersion and sound are second to none.People are complaining about the graphics but I just don't see it - sure it uses dynamic resolution to keep the frame rate up, but to me this game looks way better than PC1, and very impressive considering I'm playing on a standard PS4.If you are serious about adrenaline packed sim racing, and you have a force feedback wheel, I'd highly recommend this game. If you play with a controller I'd personally look elsewhere.

First of all, to be able to play well with a controller some tweaking the steering sensitivity, acceleration sensitivity, braking sensitivity will be required. Contrary to other reviews this game isn't broken and if sensitivity settings are changed its easy to control the cars. I did have a play around with these myself however a quick Google and Youtube video allowed my to fine tune the controller settings some more. There is a good selection of tracks and cars. The graphics are good but not GT level stunning. What I love about this game is how the cars drive and handle. On this PC2 beats GT Sport hands down. It also has a good career mode unlike GT Sport.Another lovely touch is how the driver looks into the apex when in helmet view. Altering the car settings really makes a difference to how the cars handle and can change the outcome of a race.So far I am loving this game, especially now I have tweaked the settings. I haven't had chance to delve fully into all the race modes and tracks and cars or even play online but so far I am really enjoying this game.

A far superior game to the other one that came out at the same time. but you need to make changes before it will work with a controller.Dead zones (free play) especially for steering need setting to 0.Here's the changes I've made to get it to work for me. Go to options - controls- configuration, Set all Dead zones to 0, Steering sensitivity to 30, Throttle sensitivity to 2, Brake sensitivity to 3, Clutch sensitivity to 30, Speed sensitivity to 95, Damper saturation to 0, Controller damping to 85, Controller vibration to 100, Min shift time to 10. Also set Steering assistance to no, Braking assistance to no, Driving assistance to authentic. After all that some cars will drive ok others will spin at the sniff of a corner,I've found suspension tuning sorts this out. increase the front and rear spring loading, increase low speed damping, also reduce engine braking and on the rear differential increase the coast setting. Now that keeps things pointing the right way. How to best set up each car for different tracks is what is then needed.

I have changed my review after doing more research and testing I have found the game comes as standard with Controller setttings set completely wrong, they have dialed down brake and steering sensitivity. I now have them both set about 90. The game is like a completely different beast altogether now......it's really good! You can almost powerslide cars around bends holding on to the edge of grip. Cars like the old Lotus 98T john player special which on PC1 was almost undriveable has become fantastic to drive, really smooth too with lots of grip. I do think the controller settings should be set up for you by Slightly Mad Studios hence the star missing.Excellent sim once it has been fixed though it is both fun and rewarding to drive aswell as being difficult.Stick with it guys I am sure there will be a youtube video to explain all this soon.I can now drive all the Ferrari's quickly and get pole's with my game pad. I can also drive in the rain which looks amazing!! My biggest gripe with the game now is the load times and Laggy Menu's
