The game brings together three different game styles - trading, adventures and city building. This gives opportunity to mix them as you like in a single game and significantly decreases the possibility to get borred.City building reminds me about Anno 1701. You are able to build different businesses in different cities and connect them with trading convoys to supply raw materials and sell the goods. There are really smart pre setup trading strategies that you can assign to trading convoys and even create a custom one with exact goods and quantities. Going further in the game this allows you to create a very complex produce_and_trade network with little management. If something requires your attention you get notified,so once you setup your income generators you are able to focus on adventure, missions, trading :)On the Naval map opening the city buildings list without entering into the city, is a fantastic feature which makes you feel the game is going fast because you don't have to search for every building in the city to accomplish a mission, check for new one, trade, visit the tavern and so on. What I don't like is that you can not zoom in enough. A good feature is that military ships are coloured in red so you can easily see what kind of a ship is coming. The naval battles can be done in Automatic mode which does not force you to fight every time and you can take care for other activities that you like. In manual mode battles are not very easy at first but when you complete several, things are getting better. During my first ship boarding I expected that there will be an interactive fight between the captains (like in Sid Mayer's Pirates) but the outcome is being decided only by math :)I was impressed by the Vilain feature in the tavern (destroys one good in the city storage which makes its price high). It's so natural to have it but i was not expecting it. Captain trainers on the other hand are very expensive and it looks to me that their price is always around 90% of your current balance. This makes it a hard call if you want to spend that much coin for 1 point which can be earned through battling enemy ships. Treasure hunting is a little bit boring. There is no real search for it once you know where is the place on the naval map. I expected that the maps are for land and you will be able to walk a smal party and search for the treasure.Overall i think that game is fantastic, the graphics are very good and the gameplay is intuitive and easy to master.

I hope the following is of some help. The game play is more of a strategy then fast action but to start with takes a bit of getting used to, point and click either right or left mouse buttons, but once this is mastered the game is great on freeplay. You can either do land battles, attack towns or ships as a pirate or just trade with different ports like a merchant. The mission section does take some getting into and to be honest it is better to play in freeplay to do what you want. But for the missions you have to visit the towns and then the different buildings, ie taverns, palace, docks to get missions to up take them. The sea battles are also a bit clunky but again once mastered regards having a good strong crew and good ship.As for the activation you can opt out of the email by unsubscribing once you get your confirmation email as to not get spam as such. Also the email account is to verify you own game and use product key, in short this also allows for updates automatically on the game as and when patches come out. Not much more to say apart from enjoy exploring and getting rich from trade or plunder in the Caribean Sea with as many hours as you want to spend as the game is so open ended.

I'm probably part of a niche market as far as gamers are concerned, I don't like to pretend I'm shooting folk in the face or stealing and driving fast cars. (Shooting games are noisy as funk and who the hell is going to clean up all that blood?? And stealing cars that maybe people have worked hard to finance and insure just feels kinda awkward. But I digress...)I just like something that passes the time. And this game does. It's not difficult, but it does involve a little bit of thinking, little enough though that you can get into an almost medatative trance of fulfilling tasks like delivering textiles or buying up rum, but enough that it's not too boring. There's a bit of mathematics,a tiny bit of strategy and a lot of ways to pass the time without getting fed up.I like it. I don't know that many other people will share in this, but for me, it's a favourite.

I knew Port Royale2 for a long time, and it was one of my favorite games. This game is exactly the same but with the powerful of a ps3 platform. Better graphics than in his previous version, and unfortunately this game doesn't include a paper map which makes easier find the right localization for your goods. This is something that i missed so much when i opened the package.

Very educational as well as an etertaining stragety game that just does'nt involve non stop war themes. I was never into stragety games esp port royale because this one requires a sharp memory. Or else you'll be lost in the seas forever esp if you've never understood how to play port royale games. But still it offers a good lot to stay tuned.

If you like strategic kind of games then you'll love this, good overall atmosphere and great playability.Even if strategy games aren't your favourite it is a homage to the old Caribbean and the pirates and merchants who made this area an exciting but very dangerous place.

I never played the game on a computer, but for the first time the playstation game is nice. It is rather realistic (correct map, supply and demand evolves when you buy or sell things...Very nice :-)

Is a very good and easy game but sometimes it crashes. Maybe programming mistake because i not the only one who complain about that.
