A great safety shield for your lenses. Metal ring and tough (polycarbonate?) optics, so really nice quality item . keeps out dust and prevents scratches. Also the flat front surface is easier to clean then the convex lens. Worst case, you can simply unscrew it and clean it. Note that as its is threaded inside and out it does not affect the thread of your lens. so once in place it can be left and yet remains compatible with all your original cap, accessories and filters. This is also adding another level of protection to your lens as the thread is protected too. Especially important with plastic lenses, which now benefit from metal threads, so a nice upgrade.Considering the lenses are usually the dearest part of the setup its well worth a couple of pounds to protect them from dirt, dust, and also to protect the threads.

Given the debate over whether UV filters are of any actual value with digital cameras, there is still the obvious fact, that a few quids worth of glass screwed onto the front of the lens, at least protects the several hundred pounds worth of glass behind it.These Polaroid filters have a nice slim profile and a good thread, allowing easy attachment to and removal from the camera lens.I've shot with and without them on the lens. Even shooting in bright sunlight I've never had any problematic flare. The only time I've really noticed the filter, was when I was shooting at the seafront on a windy day and my filter had specks of sand on it - better than the front element.

I tried a few of these out and didn't notice any degrading of the image quality on my lensesThe filter is multi coated so that does help reduce flare which can be a problem on some of the cheaper filters (some have only a few coatings or one)Thread was well machined and fairly easy to clean. Overall it's quite a good budget buy, a notch below the Hoya and Marumi filters quality wise, still very respectable for a fair price.I personally don't fit a filter on every lens I have, but some do this is well worth looking at for a cost effective solution

You don't need anything more than this for protection unless you're a pro. The filter fits perfectly on my Canon lenses and protects it well. On one lens I have, there lots of glass to protect and on another there's more plastic. This filter doesn't impare either and unless you get it really dirty I can't say I've seen evidence of any reflections or glare as a result of the UV filter. Can't go wrong at this price.

There's a lot of debate on whether UV filters are really required in the digital age as digital sensors are not so sensitive to ultraviolet light. Frankly, I didn't see much difference in image quality. However, for me, the most important thing is to keep the front element of your lens protected. It's always a good idea to protect your lenses before you have reason to regret it.

Have purchased several Polaroid branded filters / lens's at various times and have been pleased with the quality which comes at an affordable price .This UV filter is no exception .Used primarily as protection for the lens and of course improving the contrast of photos .Build quality is good ; the threads are smooth and fit and very well into the camera lens recess..Recommended

I'm a hobby photographer and always generally stuck to budget filters for my lenses. I got this one from Polaroid to stick on the end of my Canon 50mm f1.4 lens. The filter is packaged well and the packaging could easily be re-used to store the lens when it's not being used. The lens screwed on without any problems. Pictures taken are clear. Very happy with purchase.

I wanted a no-frills protective filter primarily to reduce the risk of scratching my new zoom lens. This one fits perfectly, allows the original lens cap to fit and I can't see any significant difference in photos with and without the filter (disclaimer - I'm only a holiday snapper, not even an enthusiastic amateur.)

Dropped my camera and this filter smashed into three pieces. Thankfully, lens was OK though and after filter was cut off (distorted after fall) the lens and camera worked perfectly. Since the accident I have bought a new replacement and a spare. Moral: Always put a filter to protect your lens (and for UV protection).

Always buy UV filters for my lenses as it's a vital layer of protection from bumps and scratches.Have broken several filters before on lenses but would rather a cheap filter than the actual expensive lenses. This screws onto my Canon 18-55 IS Kit lens fine and the image is great.

Does what it says on the box. There are views about not having to use a UV filter with a digital camera lens but when you pay a shed load of money for a lens I would rather pay for a filter to protect the lens when in use than risk scratching the lens and having to replace it.

Just bought a new lens and got this to protect the face of it. Does the job without affecting the shot. Went for polaroid as they have been around for years and the quality is good. Yes this is a UV filter by Polaroid, not to be confused as a Polaroid filter!

There's a lot of debate over the Internet whether these filters affect picture quality, but this appears to be a quality piece of glass that shouldn't do that and will save my lens from my clumsy ways!!

Can't fault it. Bought it primarily to protect my lens, which it does perfectly. I'd find it difficult to justify a pricier filter when this one does everything that I (as a complete amateur) require.

This works fine, used to protect the lens of my camera, everyone with DSLR should invest, it's so much cheaper to replace should you have an accident than having to replace the lens it sits over
