Pokepark 2 returns us to the world not unlike that of Mystery Dungeon, where Pokemon live like humans and interact as such. Pikachu and his friend Piplup arrive at the park to discover something is up, and thus begins an adventure spanning two dimensions. It is surprisingly darker and more dramatic than the first game, with less of an emphasis on the minigame-style 'Attractions' and more on adventuring and teamwork. I like this, as it gives you more of a emotional connection and reason to care about what the characters are doing. While Pikachu is as vapid as ever, his companions actually have personalities which endears you to them.None of the stages from the previous game make a comeback, but there are fitting music and beautiful graphics for the six areas we do visit. The initial track that plays in Wish Park is pretty creepy, and all the environments are lush and vast, inviting you to explore. Some people may object, but I also love how the Pokemon use their anime voices as opposed to the sounds they make in the mainstream games. The new Attractions no longer cost to play in story mode, and once unlocked, you can play them with friends through a multiplayer mode. Most of the berries (in game currency) you earn now are spent upon upgrading the abilities of your team. Each member has a personal strength - for instance, Snivy can run quickly and Oshawott can swim.Battle mode is great. You feel more involved with the action, and pressured by the new added time limit. Being able to use the stage for a match instead of a `battle grid' gives a real sense of integration. There are several types of battles, some involving obstacle courses, and others involving having to take on whole gangs of Pokemon at once, akin to Pokemon Rumble. Later, there is also a tournament mode. The whole friend-making gimmick actually has a point in the story's plot now. As a result, it doesn't feel quite as much of a drag. There are a wider variety of ways to make friends. Besides the original battle/chase/quiz/hide and seek, we now have added `taking photos' and `giving items'. I like the taking photos idea, as it has a sort of "Pokemon Snap" vibe to it.Speaking of the photo-taking, its quite a source of entertainment. You're not restricted to just taking what's in front of you, being able to use the Wiimote to shift your point of view in several directions.Unfortunately for all these pros, there are a number of cons to the game as well. The movement of the Pokemon you control is still awkward. This is annoying, especially when -even if the nunchuk didn't get used- I know its possible to have control pad movement with precision (see Pokemon Rumble)And the AI of the Pokemon you battle can go from the sublime to the ridiculous. In some cases I've had opponents stand there and do nothing, and in other cases, spam a move that prevents me from retaliating.Lastly, there are only four attractions as opposed to Pokepark Wii's fourteen. Initially this was a bit disappointing, but I appreciated the focus on the adventuring. It would have been nice to have had the attractions from the previous game added to the multiplayer mode to flesh out the replay value more.Which brings me to my last point. The game does seem a touch too short. First story mode took me 13 hours.Pokepark 2 is a definite step up from the first game. Your involvement carries more weight and importance, which in turn gives you a reason to want to play. And I sense a lot of potential here for future, more in-depth 3D Pokemon RPGs, in the case of the Pokepark game engine.

This is a very well presented game and will provide an engrossing experience for younger children who are fans of the series. The first half of the game is ideal for 6-9 years who can read I would suggest (there is quite a lot of reading required). There are a huge number of pokemon characters in the game (~200) which you can battle, and you get to play with four of the most popular pokemon as main characters: Pikachu, Oshawott, Princess Snivy and Tepig. You get these four characters quite early in the game, after a couple of hours play, although some very young children will need help with some of the challenges. The first half of the game is set at just the right level of difficulty for young kids - requiring quite a lot of decision making with regards to who to choose for a particular task. The real-time battle system is especially good fun compared to the 'take it in turns' approach of so many Pokemon RPG games. The game is beautifully presented and extremely cute. But older players will find the first half a bit easy and repetitive. Also the game can quite easily be completed in a week - but that will be a very intense and enjoyable week for a young fan who knows the Pokemon series well - they will constantly be delighted by the various characters that appear. Be warned that some of the later scenes are quite dark and may scare fragile children.Note that the game is barely half complete once you defeat Darkrai and he gets sucked into the dark vortex - the credits role and the battle tournament mode gets unlocked, but if you continue to explore you will get a further mission to find out what happened to Darkrai. In fact you have ~50% of the game still to complete, you will travel to a new area (Arcane area, then to Wish Park) and will get to battle(!)/befriend very powerful pokemon (such as Zekrom, Haxorus, and Emboar) which is very useful for the battle tournament! You will need to fully power up all four of your pokemon pals for these battles and the tournament. This section of the game is quite a bit more difficult than the first half, and younger players will need some help. The four multiplayer attractions (once unlocked) are good fun for parents to play along with the kids, and after the game is completed a battle tournament is unlocked which gives some future replay value. No young fan of the series will be disappointed with this game, and it is especially good for the young fans who find the many pokemon RPG games too complicated.

This game gets preference above all others with my 8 and 5 year old, there is a lot of reading involved but the little one loves just making friends with all the other pokemon, they both seem to prefer this to the original pokepark, and this game seems to be more challenging for the 8 year old. Though its accessible to anyone, being able to read, or having someone on hand to help is definitely a requirement in completing this game or getting the most out of it.The kids like that they can play as different pokemon, and having a limited multiplayer function has helped avoid more than a few battles! If you're kids love pokemon then this is worth buying.

I placed my order whilst on holiday in Germany, on Easter Monday. It arrived on my doormat 3 days later! Impressive service, it nearly beat me home!My daughter is Pokemon mad & has played this game at every given opportunity & loves it. She claims that it is better than Pokepark. To me, it seems rather repetative, but then what do I know about Pokemon? The creatures dont even talk!Ultimately, it is approved by a 12 year old Pokemon fan & Amazon had the best price, what else is there to say?

Great game for the kids!Got this for my twin nephews who are Pokemon mad! They've from everything from socks to games to teddies!Watching them play this game the graphics are what you expect from the Wii console, gameplay get a bit boring after a while but nothing that a break won't cure! Will recommend to any youngsters who enjoy Pokemon games!!

Lovely pokemon game for younger fans of the franchise. The game mainly involves meeting and making friends with other pokemon. The game has beautiful graphics and music, but will be too simple for hardcore gamers. Great for little kids though.

This was a present for my son's 7th birthday. The game is good, although he gets frightened when playing the dark scenes. The game has now been put away for six months to ensure that he is not frightened further un-necessarily.

My son thinks this is his favourite game ever. It is very simple and doesn't take long. Lots of repetitive challenges but for younger children good as they play chase a lot. And there is no nasty stuff. Ecommendedm

Exactly what my son wanted, but he doesn't play it much! Not sure why, but the same with other Wii games he has! Probably a bit pricey for the amount of use it gets! Happy with delivery, etc.

A very good game and you can make lots of friends through playing it. I would highly recommend this game to other people because it's very interesting and exciting!

Good game, entertained the kids for more than two weeks (8 and 10 years old). The game story is good and it has side tasks to finish after the main story is done.

6.7.2015

Bought for my 10 year old son who loves it. Although he'd completed it within a month, there are lots of levels you can go back and revisit to get better scores.

I brought this on behalf of my 11 year old son. He loves pokemon and this doesn't disappoint. He has the first game so this is a good follow up game to play.
