First off these look great and have a great reputation in the biking world. You see the brand everywhere in the downhill biking mecca of Morzine, although mostly full face for downhill. They're a little pricey perhaps, but the old adage of getting what you pay for seems apt to follow the advice of when it comes to personal protection. So 2 months of riding followed upon receiving mine, then 1 day I had a crash in the bike park that gave me concussion and sent me to hospital for a scan on my badly bruised head. Thankfully, after around 12hrs in hospital, the results came back and the doctor gave me the green light to go home. I inspected the helmet the next day and it looked intact. There were scratches on the shell, the Spin pad inside had partially rotated maybe 20 degrees and split along the seams, but underneath the pad, the foam looked intact. There was no visible damage or compression to my untrained eyes and that surprised me.So I survived a decent crash, it looks good, the Spin system inside worked by rotating upon impact, so why not 5 stars? Well.... maybe it deserves 5 stars, but the lack of visible damage to the helmet foam has left me wondering if the foam should have compressed to absorb some of the impact. Maybe with another type of protection I could have walked away without being knocked out. Maybe there are fine invisible cracks in the foam that I just can't see. It's always difficult to assess a safety product until it does it's job and then you wonder if it could have been better if such a thing/component was different. It did it's job anyway and i'm here to write my review, so I recommend it for that. That it's survived with a few scratches, no visible damage inside besides a split spin pad along the seems will always leave me wondering if there's better protection available, but I do recommend it with reservations that there might be better.

Bought this to replace my Giro Chronicle MIPS helmet that had served two years duty protecting my head and was beginning to look a little tatty. First impressions getting the POC out the box is that you can clearly see what puts this helmet in the higher price bracket. The finish of the helmet is fantastic with it's high gloss colour reaching right around and under the edges leaving very little EPS foam exposed. The fit of the helmet seems true to the measurements given, I have a 57cm size head so went for the M/L and it fits perfectly and is camparable to the size M Giro it is replacing. However to look at it it is quite obvious this helmet will suit oval shaped heads and people with rounder shaped heads which may find it a bit narrow.I knew prior to ordering my head was more oval shaped and this helmet really fits my head well.POC use their own 'SPIN' technology in this rather than MIPS to mitigate rotational injuries. The advantage to this over MIPS is that it the helmet pads themselves help the helmet to rotate on impact rather than having a separate lining. This makes the helmet feel much firmer fitting when on the head rather than the looser floating sensation when wearing a MIPS helmet.Ventilation is fantastic with almost double the number of vents across the front of the helmet than my previous one and the visor is really easy to position thanks to the metal hardware holding it to the helmet - again another quality touch which justifies this helmet's pricetag.Overall I am really pleased with this helmet and look forward to the next few years on the trails with it.

I have a dozen MTB helmets, 8 are POC. Of the 5 brands, the best fitting are POC - in fact the only ones which fit perfectly are POC. This one is no different. The Tectal is the progressor to the Trabec and it really is a positive evolution. The fit of the head cradle and adjustments have moved to a thumbwheel system making for easier adjustment one handed. Secondly the chin straps. These have been modified to collate the two web bands from the helmet into one for chinstrap via a complex little adjuster that keeps the straps away from your ears and gives infinite adjustment. These are of course fit details, the most important thing is safety and I have 100% faith in POC helmets.I have my whole family in them such is my faith in them. Through many crashes and whacks, I have never had a helmet fail.Thoroughly recommend. My next helmet will be another POC and for any other discipline, it would be the first brand I went to. I t should also be added their customer support is brilliant. I contacted about replacement liners for older ones which had gotten smelly and washed out. They wouldn't sell me replacements - instead sending FOC replacements.A premium brand which stands by its products.

The helmet has a very neat finish and the glossy black fits very well to the encompassing design with large vents. The adjustable visor is long enough to protect from the sun. The adjustment of the helmet is very easily done by a tightening wheel at the back. The tightening loop goes around the head and does not create any compression point. The helmet is perfectly maintained and no floating motion is noticeable. After three outings, I appreciate the ventilation (you still have to wait for the beautiful days) and the pads, roof offering extra protection (spin system) offers a certain comfort that quickly forget the headphones. Only small regret is the chin that could have benefited from a thin protection to complete the comfort contract. The proposed protection systems that I have not been able to test as well as the robust and enveloping design of the hull are reassuring. An expense that is up to the quality of the product and which selbke me a very good investment.

Absolutely worth the money, I have wanted a new MTB helmet for a while, the market is saturated with them at the moment, this one stood out to me looks-wise, then after reading reviews/tests I decided to give it a go.Probably the most comfortable helmet I’ve worn, my old MTB helmet now feels harsh on my head, I’ve got a large shaved head, this fits perfectly and feels great.I went on a 35km ride yesterday with it on, it was a fairly hot day, it kept my head well ventilated and protected. The visor is adjustable so I found the perfect spot for it right away.I mounted a GoPro on it and it handled it very well, there was a slight tilt forward, but that was to be expected,a quick readjustment and we were back in business.

After a MTB accident which landed me in hospital for 5 days I needed a new helmet. Something that had all the latest safety technologies. I read all the reviews and comparisons and decided on the POC Tackle Race Spin. Yes it’s expensive, but I value my head and brain. This was one MTB purchase I didn’t have to persuade my wife about (it’s nice to know she still loves me that much after 30 years).I got the XL size and it fits perfectly. It is fairly cool to wear on steep climbs, the first 10k of my regular ride has 550m, I would say similar to my Bell Sixer which I split in my accident. Amazon’s price was saving about 30% compared to other well known online bike shops. So altogether I am very happy.

The quality of the build and materials of the helmet is really good and it has a robust feel I was looking for in a trail helmet that gets a lot of abuse. It's not without a few minor problems though..1) The chinstrap comes loose, you have to tighten it mid ride2) It is sturdy and offers more protection but is as a result a fairly heavy and warm helmet for trail riding3) I think the SPIN pads are precisely that - spin. It's difficult to see how they would make any difference in a rotational impact situation.4) The SPIN pads aren't sturdy and the material separates from them pretty easily which is exacerbated by the fact the helmet is warm (hence sweaty) and need's washed regularly

I bought this helmet needing a new one and after about 15 rides the seam opened up on the cover on the SPIN pad. It was still usable but I thought I'd let POC know since the helmet is only a few months old. I contacted POC and they immediately and without question sent me a replacement SPIN pad. Fantastic customer service. I think it's wise to loosen the helmet when taken it off so it doesn't rub which probably was the cause of the cover separating. Yet, POC came to the rescue and everything is like brand-new.I give the helmet and fit a 5. Truly a good investment from a company that cares about their products and their customers.

Have just made the first ride with the Tectal Spin and I'm really satisfied. Originally had my sights on the Specialized Ambush Angi and the TLD A2, but when I tried both at the local dealer I said no, the Specialized is just too tight at the temples and I just didn't like the A2, it was too high for me. Then I simply ordered the Tectal because I actually always liked it visually from various YouTubers. So I keep it, weight is not noticeable when I wear it, sits very deep, which I like very much visually and from the feeling of security.

This is a great helmet, it’s lightweight and feels like it will give great all round protection. The visor on the front is adjustable via a small rotating switch between the two centremost air guides. It sits extremely comfortably on the head. Has a goggle clip on the back. There’s enough flat space on the top front for mounting an action cam, and it comes with a free storage bag.It also has a built in Recco Reflector, so if for some reason whilst mountain biking I get buried under 30m of snow I will feel better.

I had mine a week when I had a spectacular crash. The only thing I didn't damage was my head despite this helmet taking a big pounding. I can't say other helmets wouldn't have protected me but I can say with certainty this one did. I'm now back riding and immediately bought a new one of these. Yes, it's not cheap (especially buying two) but I couldn't justify not.Ventilation, fit and adjustment are all excellent too.

I have owned several POC helmets. This model is new to me, and I'm not completely happy with it. My trabec helmets fit perfectly comfortable. My head fits deeper inside this helmet causing the rear adjuster to dig into the base of my skull. It doesn't seem to matter how tight I make it and the helmet continues to roll forward. There's no way I could ever wear goggles with as far as this helmet covers my brow.

I had a big crash into a tree with my first poc tectal helmet. I landed head first into a rock and the doctor that looked after my in the hospital said that if I wasn’t wearing a helmet then he was 90% sure that I wouldn’t be hear today. When we looked at the helmet after the crash you can see how it took most of the impact and saved my life. This is a great helmet and can’t recommend it enough

Super comfortable and vents very well. Rode in WA and frankly it was a bit cold if anything. Airflow is that noticeable. Also looks just as great in person as it does online, with the nicest feature being the lack of a yellow mips layer. The Spin pads are noticeably different than normal pads and also absorb sweat quite well.

POC products are known for its high standard in design and construction and this helmet is no less. It doesn't feel too big or bulky on the head. Very comfortable. Didn't get to try it before purchase, but just took the risk and ordered it. And everything has been great.
