Every second, 3.2 Playmobil people are 'born'.Playmobil. Everyone knows that name as the purveyors of plastic figures and a multitude of extras. But how many know those little 3 inch figures are older than you might think, having been around since 1974? And how many know the company that manufacture them began in 1876? Even fewer will know that until his death in 2015, the whole caboodle was owned by one man, Horst Brandstätter?Containing 153 separate pieces, this Playmobil Wild Life set comes complete with Indiana Jones style broken rope bridge and treasure under a rock (with attendant snake) and is great fun. It's brilliant for imaginative play, and the two grandchildren make the figures talk to each other. We don't understand a word of it but they know what they're talking about, which is all that matters. For those who understand such things, these characters help with a child's fine motor control skills. It also helps in finding out about the environment. This isn't just a toy, it's educational, too.Depending on how old the users are, they may need help in putting some of it together. To be honest, I was the one who needed assistance, but the end result will be worth it. A word of warning: don't open all the bags at once and get all the pieces out as we did, as some are rather tiny and you'll end up hunting for cutlery and the syringe. Once connected together, you'll find that the people have moving limbs and the animals (not all of them) can also be posed. Other parts such as the staircase and hoist can also be moved. Everything here is compatible with other bits and pieces from the series. This particular set can be added to with another dozen different packs; different animals, an animal enclosure, a fire-fighting seaplane, an inflatable dinghy complete with characters, and lots more. Actually, it's compatible with anything Playmobil. Though a tree house packed with spacemen might look weird to us, to a five year old it's natural. That's what imagination is for.Considering the price of toys now (and quality costs), but you can't put a price on the enjoyment of your children or grandchildren. Not only that, it keeps them quite, too.

This is a chunky playset, packed with moving parts, animals and accessories, far too many to list. There are plenty of different stories that can be told with it, from a relaxing picnic on holiday to a stranded adventure in the wilderness, and with a bit of imagination there is hours of fun to be had with it. Our daughter is still at the sweetness-and-light stage and is more interested in ‘playing house’ and telling stories involving the baby fox cubs talking to each other, but older kids could also use it for slightly more danger-filled wilderness stories full of snake bites and bear chases. There’s a distinctly North American flavour to this toy- from the toy man’s cowboy hat to the brown bears to most obviously the bald eagle. There’s no harm in that, but it does seem like a deliberate attempt to place the set in an American setting rather than making it more universal.Assembly takes a little while. The instruction manual is straightforward and easy enough for a kid to build, but I have one gripe about assembly, and that’s that all the pieces are seemingly randomly distributed in the different bags and you have to spread them all out to find the bit you’re after. With large Lego toys, the pieces are neatly arranged into numbered bags and the instruction manual tells you when to open each bag; ideally that would’ve been the case here as well. One part of that Americana feel is the rifle. I object to the inclusion of a hunting rifle in the pack. I know hunting rifles are a fact of life in the great outdoors but there’s no reason why a four-year-old should be introduced to rifles at such a young age. We discreetly hid the rifle when we opened the box in hours, so our daughter never knew it was there. (And yet we didn’t dispose of the toy laptop- such is the world we live in, I guess.)The chain that pulls the steps up sometimes gets stuck in the wooden fencing next to it; a very minor grumble. While I’m still more of a Lego fan- it’s more versatile, in my opinion- overall this a really impressive and thorough set, but it’s on a couple of technicalities that I don’t quite feel it reaches 5 stars.

A superb kit which includes an extensive range of objects, animals and features. As some reviewers have commented, it is a complex kit and needs time and an adult to assemble it. The diagram-style instruction leaflet is clear and there should be no problems. All the parts come in a whole collection of sealed plastic bags and is best to open these inside the large cardboard box once you have that opened. Some parts (eg: mouse, kingfisher, fish) are very small and can easily get mislaid. With its design of a full frontage and open back, the tree house offers scope for adventures inside and outside. We did find that one or two of the smaller branches detached very easily, but this didn't destabilise the structure. This present was bought for my granddaughter's 6th birthday and she and her nearly four year old sister had enormous fun with the kit as can be seen in the attached photos. They played with it on the day and then wanted it left on the floor on the next schoolday so they could play with it before they went to school or nursery, and then again when they came home and after any homework had been done. It's worth saying that the kit can be moved easily even though it is essentially in three parts .... the main base and house + the bridge (which is VERY Indiana Jones) + the island. These parts all unclip and can be moved separately and easily and then re-assembled.The tree house and all its accessories generated enormous amounts of play and talk and - as my youngest granddaughter discovered- also made an excellent home for her small 'My Little Ponies'. She especially enjoyed raising and lowering these on the little winch-lift which is part of the kit.I'll stop here and let the photos speak for themselves save to say that this was a very worthwhile and sensibly-priced toy which offers enormous potential for imaginative play and language development. But above all, it is good fun.

If you want to help your child develop their imagination then getting then some Playmobil is a good start. This adventure treehouse is jam packed with story making material, just check out the image showing the contents of the box.For younger children the problem is the small size of the various pieces, the little cutlery pieces and other utensils are easily swallowed or stuck in places they don’t belong. For some toys I exercise 'parental judgement’ regarding the recommended age on the box and will give a toy for older children to our son ahead of time. I wouldn’t do this with Playmobil - I would think that 4 years old is a very good idea. The other downside of all the little parts is that they’re going to disappear, more or less quickly depending on where the treehouse is used. Take it outside and prepare to reap the loses. The upside of all these little accessories and the various doors, nooks, crannies and moving parts that cover the treehouse is the storytelling inspiration they provide. Though there is a little gun and some blades amongst all the little objects, there’s plenty to fuel non-violent play - there’s domestic scenes, animal rescues and treasure hunting, among others.OK, this play set is quite pricey but it is better than plonking your kids infant of a few DVDs and will probably provide as much time of engagement as those DVDs. Playmobil sets are very tough and hard to break, so, provided you can avoid losing all the bits, should provide a long lasting toy. Well, as long as your child’s imagination will fuel it.Our kid loves telling stories, even without the props, so this is a hit in our house.

The Playmobil Wildlife Adventure Tree House (Playmobil item# 5557) is a large set from Playmobil’s ‘Wildlife’ range. The box states that the set is suitable for children between 4 and 10 years old, however, to be honest I’m not sure if many 10 year old kids would be all that thrilled to receive something like this as a gift.WHAT YOU GET:The set arrives requiring a reasonable amount of assembly (20 – 30 mins max). Inside the box you get the following:1x Treehouse (with rope bridge etc)2x Wildlife workers (with hats and tools etc)1x Large bear1 x Small bear1x Fox2x Fox cubs1x Bird of prey3x Small birds1 x Owl1x Mouse2x Geese1x Snake2x Chairs12x Gold nuggets1x First aid kit (with equipment)1xCargo box1x Lamp1x Rifle1x Fishing rodVarious household implements etcSUMMARY:Both my son and my daughter absolutely love the set. The set by itself makes for a wonderful play set, and when together with other sets from the ‘Wildlife’ range really makes for hours’ worth of fun for your kids (as it has with ours). As with all Playmobil sets, the attention to detail is absolutely superb. The crane on the side of the tree house can swivel, lift and drop items. It can also be tide down so that items can be left suspended in the air. The rope bridge has two broken planks halfway across which snap open when crossed. There’s a hiding hole for gold nuggets to be hidden under a rock. The beds can be folded up to allow for a working area. There’s pots, pans, mugs and a whole host of different items for the two wildlife workers to use.All in all a truly fantastic Playmobil set.

THE GOODOnce made this is a really dramatic Playmobil piece and certainly goes down a treat with the four year olds. There is a bridge that could open and drop you in a river, various animal and bird families to cavort among the rocks. treasure or gold to find, shovels and spades and one of the nicest and cutest owls you could imagine. There are two adult figures that come as part of the kit as well.It looks fabulous and will report back in a few months time to see if it has the consistent play factor of the sshool or hospital set that are still such favourites.A question mark area is the fact there is a gun in the set and also a fishing rod.Depending on where you stand on these two activities you may want to give this set a miss or take the gun and fishing rod out before giving it as a gift or letting your children play with it.THE LESS GOODIn my time I have built a large number of Playmobil pieces and, whilst this is relatively straightforward it is very fiddly. Threading the fishing rod, aligning branches round roofs, the chain lift, hatch doors. Would strongly recommend that you make it in advance and then do a dramatic reveal if at all possible.Whilst attention to detail is one of the joys of Playmobil on this one they seem to have taken it a step too far, cutlery implements, first aid implements, gold ingots, camera's computers and canned goods. The list could have gone on some. IN fact as this is for a four year old and was built in advance I have kept and bagged up a lot of the smaller pieces. It will not detract from the play-ability of the set.

Having now seen and helped set up/play with two of these Playmobil box sets I have to say I'm so very impressed with them! If I had to choose between similar sets of Lego and Playmobil I'd definitely choose Playmobil; while the Lego sets are also really good personally I've never been that into Lego and the very fact that the Playmobil characters look better to me makes them better, but again that's just a personal viewpoint, obviously lots of people love Lego.As far as this Wildlife Tree House set itself, it's absolutely fantastic and was very much appreciated by young and old alike. There are lots of parts, some very small and fiddly so you might need to be careful with very small children, especially before/as it's being set up (which will be a decent challenge for slightly older kids) but once set up it's definitely a winner and is sure to provide lots of fun, just watch out for that bear when you're fishing!

The trouble with plastic toys that need to be assembled is they they tend to break far too easily and often do not fit together very well. Not so with Playmobil toys. My grandson is mad on the forts and castles and he spends many happy hours playing with them. Giving him this Wildlife Adventure Tree House he was overjoyed. Not only are the pieces made from high quality strong plastic that fits properly together, but the whole new American type adventure idea was a huge success. As I say the plastic used is of high quality and should never be compared with much cheaper options.I can see this lasting for a number of years and can guarantee it will be extremely well played with. The best recommendation comes from the fact that once it is out the box and assembled, it stays out the box in prose of place.A quality toy that you can rely on.

This is an utterly superb set, well worth the money. My wife immediately said "it's for boys", though I don't see that. Maybe not for very girly-girls, if you see what I mean. This set's for a little more rough and tumble imagination - a wonky bridge, make your own tree-house, rickety ladder and so on.It's labelled for ages 4-10, and that's about right, particularly at the younger end (where it will give years of use). Definitely not suitable for younger than four, as chance of being put in mouth (and too fiddly for young hands to play with anyway). If there's a younger child around, take extra care in case any parts left lying around. It comes in a huge box (sturdy enough for keeping the parts in)- not cheap, but the components are of extremely high quality, just cannot be faulted.

I've always thought of Playmobile as a very young version of Lego, but this really has a large variety of both small and large pieces.I have a 5 year old nephew who is absolutely obsessed with Lego, and I thought it would be interesting to see how he responded to the set.He spent two evenings before bedtime building it and carefully arranging all the pieces - this was s total of between two or three hours - and then he wanted to use it as a display instead of a working toy.Very occasionally he will take it down and rearrange things but he really seems to just like having it to look at.If it had been me, I'd have played with it for hours and then lost all the pieces. Odd child!Recommended - it looks and plays well, perfect for technically minded youngsters.

The Playmobil 5557 Wildlife Adventure Tree House is a high quality and well made toy set. The toy arrives in a large colorful and sturdy cardboard box. The unpacking reveals many pieces that comprise the set. Its all very stimulating game play for like-minded children offering a wealth of opportunities on all manner of game-play situation scenarios. Our 6 year old grand-son liked the set and to the idea of creating a safe haven in the tree house with the ability to study animals below. There are a number of offered possibilities to add variance to the play like the broken bridge and the small cave beneath the the tree. A lot of thought has gone into the design of the game play set.If considering its well worth the money.

This is a thing of beauty, ready to grant hours and hours of imaginative play to young people. High quality, well made. This is the business!Just two caveats. First, this is not suitable for children less than 3/4 years. Too many small fiddly bits.Speaking of which...it takes ages and ages to assemble. The parts are all in little bags, and it requires the mental acuity of Stephen Hawking to put the damn thing together. But the results are worth it. A thing of beauty. A joy forever. Well, till they're five or six, I'd guess!!

Yet another great playmobil set. We've had a few of these now and for sheer content and value for money you just can't do wrong. There are so many pieces and although some seem a little small and fiddly for smaller ones you could quite easily leave these out and they'd still have hours of fun. The set does take a fair bit of fiddly assembly too but it's worth it in the end. A bit like building flat pack, lots of satisfaction once completed! Good stuff.

Bought for a birthday present for my 7 year old daughter. It was slightly tricky to put together, mostly because I didn't see the instruction amendment sheet for part of the construction until the end. However when it was finally put together my daughter was thrilled with it and has played with it non stop. We have lots of playmobil sets and this is better than some I have previously purchased

I have bought quite a number of playmobile this year 2018 for various grandchildren and I am very pleased with them. Good quality stretches their imaginations. All 5 of my grandchildren share and play with the sets and they often merge zoo set with town sets and shops. Dinosaurs with dragons. Super heros are also thrown into the mix Age range 2.5 - 8 years Would recommend Playmobile
