Stick with me as this will all make sense why I'm giving you the backstory. I promise that this will be the most detailed review you'll read, on Amazon anyway, and should cover every aspect you would hope to have covered when considering getting these.?Let me start out by saying that I have done a ton of research on finding the best gaming headset there is for the money right now. I watched all the videos and read all the articles on all of the main websites that specialise in gaming and audio and the same names kept coming back: Hyper Xcloud, Black Shark, Razor, Turtle beach SteelSeries etc.I came across a headset called the Corsair HS60 which lots of people were raving about, claiming they were as good the top brands , so much so I bought them..... And the reviews were wrong! I sent the headset back the same day I received it. The Mic was bad quality for party chat (the main reason for getting a gaming headset) and the sound was ok but so boomy it made all the other sounds muddy and seem a bit muffled. So I went back to the drawing board and focused on mic performance as my main focus to see if I got different results.... And the Plantronics Rig 400HX/HS came up.(HS is the PlayStation version & HX is XBOX but there's no difference between them just either blue or green Rig logo on the left. )Now I've been gaming for about 30 years and I'd like to think I know what sounds good in-game and what doesn't. There are things that are a literal game changer especially if you're paying competitively. Apart from the latency in your TV & the controller you use, sounds plays a huge part, and I'll explain why.I'll use Modern warfare for the example and it's the main game I'm playing now. It's a busy game with sounds of explosions, voiceovers, gun fire, vehicles on the ground while jets and choppers fly overhead. The main thing to get the upper hand in this game though is hearing your opponents footsteps. Not just how close they are but which direction they are coming from to whether they are above you or below. Now you have that in mind let me tell you about the Rigg 400 and cover all of the features and why I think this is the best gaming headset for the money!BUILD QUALITY:The build quality is probably the most solid headset I've ever used with a solid detachable headband that you can swap for another one. Can't think why you'd do that but you can if you want.In the headband there's a removable soft foam cloth covered band for comfort. This means you can remove it and wash it if you're someone who wears product in your hair. The ear pieces themselves have a solid carbon fibre-esque look about them which I really like. They have a connector that snaps into one of the 3 height adjusters on either side of the band. There's also the letter "R" imprinted inside the right earpiece so you get them the right way round. Some have said that these have become loose and come out. I can't see this ever being an issue as once you've selected the height your not going to be repeatedly taking them out and putting them back in, plus the headset has a natural spring to the headband that holds them securely to your head. The ear cups are soft memory foam & cloth covered making them breathable which is important for playing hours at a time. The headset itself is very light and feels not only secure on my head whilst wearing it but combined with the soft ear cups it's the most comfortable headset I've worn ever, including Bluetooth ones for music etc.THE MIC:The Mic is removable and I can confirm you can plug other mics in to this port if you like. I personally have a voice changer app on my phone that I use to make my mates laugh by just using an AUX lead to plug straight into my phone and the other end into the mic port on the headset. The Mic has a posable cabling that allows you to change how close you want the mic and seems very durable.Plantronics are world renowned for making headsets for offices/call centres and communication is no.1 on the phone as we can all agree. I've also had a Plantronics headset in a previous job and many people commented on how clear I sounded compared to others they had spoken to. This is why I initially lilooked a little closer into the Rig400 being a viable gaming headset!VOLUME/MUTE CONTROLLER:The audio/chat controller is located about 17 inches away from the headset where the 2 speaker cables from the left and right ear join. It's got the same textured material as the earpieces and has a volume slide and mute button.IMPORTANT NOTE! I at first didn't think the headset provided a very loud output when I first plugged them in and tested them in game but what I didn't realise is the volume slider goes further than you first think but this is more of a safety feature. You can slide it to the point you'll feel resistance where you think that's it... But if you push it a little more it clicks into the max volume this is to avoid you accidentally sliding it to max volume and plugging them in and potentially hurting your ears. I thought that was clever and a nice touch!.THE SOUND:WOW! Seriously WOW! I actually can't believe how good they are for the money, I really can't. The Bass is full, not boomy but it's nice and punchy. The mids and tweets are crisp but not harsh. The difference between my previous headset and this is literally night and day.My Mrs who classes herself as an Audiophile who has about 3 pairs of Bose headphones both in ear and over ear, said they are as good as of not better than her Bose!?But it gets better! If you plug this into your phone or laptop and have Dolby DTS or Hifi Quad DAC .......??????? The sound that I was already blown away with just got even better! The headset is Dolby Atmos compatible but DOES NOT COME WITH AN ATMOS CODE! That comes with the PC version which as far as I can see isn't any different from the HS/HX.I have since paid for the DOLBY ATMOS on my Xbox which was conveniently reduced to £9. I can say that this (admittedly on selected games like Warzone) that this feature turns the game into something completely different with sounds you never knew were there almost giving you a virtual spatial awareness. If you've managed to the end of this, well done for sticking with me and I hope it's been helpful.

Best pair of gaming headphones I've owned as I've had a pair of Turtle beach 420s and the Turtle beach stealth 600 headset both failing to deliver a great experience420s were uncomfortable and had a silly auto shutdown which would only stop by pressing the power button. The Stealth 600s sounded great and were fully wireless using the same Bluetooth the Xbox controllers have, but the microphone was very poor and many people I was in party chat with couldn't hear me.Now having gone through them 2 I was told about the Rigs brand as one of the people I know in the party's in game uses one I could always hear them loud and clear,so I brought them tried them and at the price they are they beat anything that is £80 or more in most cases who just charge extra for there brand name,I see alot of people putting 1 star due to the Dolby digital license there is 2 listings on Amazon for this headset 1 is without the Dobly license key and 1 is with it and they picked the wrong one and then gave it a bad review which is a shame seeing that the headset it's self is great.I've also seen someone say there's broke well there lightweight which is what you want for long use not like the other headsets that are heavy and bulky some things need to be looked after

I bought one of these direct from plantronics, the code from dolby atmos was in the box and was written that it came with the code on the box. This also comes with a y splitter so that it can change the cable and work on a normal PC with the mic and earphone symbol - which was a nice surprise.I've tested them using the demo's on the app, both on xbox one x and PC, its good that you don't have to pay twice for the the dolby app again and can use it on pc too. The best demo by far was the clip from 'Everest' the movie. I found that it really did have great, really immersive sound and drew me in to the events on screen.I gave them 4/5, they look fine & work well but not as robust as headsets double the price. Then again I've used headsets double the price and not as good as these are!You can use any stereo headset with dolby atmos not just these but since it comes with a code for dolby atmos they are well worth the money.

This is a quality peice of kit that isn't to be thrown around. Had the product about 12 weeks now and still works the same out of the box. Now, here's the catch. It will need a lot of tweaking in your console and most likely the game settings too.Yeah it's very loud I noticed that straight away. So i adjusted the settings on my xbox dashboard to compensate for this. And for in game settings you can make even finer adjustments. And also, make sure you turn on the headphones settings in your game audio menu!!! This will clean the sound up and give you more directional awareness in game (cod fortnite apexlegends etc.).Dolby atmos definetly made a difference but doesnt really feel like a game changer. But I have no previous experience with headsets so I cant comment.Overall I am happy with this product and would definetly reccomend.Just look after them. Seriously, it's not a toy, it's a peice of tech.

I was slightly sceptical about Dolby Atmos for headphones initially, thinking 'how much better can it really make things sound?' I needed a new headset, so bought the reasonably priced 'Plantronics RIG400HX with Dolby Atmos Included'. Let me just say - WOW!!! Genuinely impressed. The low-end frequencies are rich and absorbing, the high-ends are crisp and clean, and the spatial, moving sounds are genuinely immersive. The demos on Dolby Access are a great place to start, but thus far Gears of War 4 (Xbox One X Enhanced) is the one to showcase the tech! If you're thinking about jumping into Atmos - definitely make the dive!In short - A great headset furthered by the fact it comes with a licencefor Dolby Atmos which is compatible with and across both Xbox One AND Windows 10.

I'll start by saying i'm used to HyperX and Turtlebeach headsets. I tried these out at a convention and decided they were so comfortable i had to get myself some next time i need a new headset. A few months later i break my TB recons in an unfortunate feline related kerfuffle. So time to invest in some Rigs. They are fantastic, the price is worth it for Dolby Atmos alone. I use my Xbox for a lot of stuff and usually have my headset plugged in, even when playing solo. I'm not the most tech minded person so i have no idea how sound drivers etc work but i do know the sound quality is brilliant; from playing Apex Legends to Minecraft or even watching TV and Film.Best headset I've owned.Easily best value in this price range.

I recently took my quite unloved XBOX One S to work to use in my lunch breaks and wanted an inexpensive headset to use so I didn't disturb the office when playing. I initially made the mistake of buying the incredibly cheap and plastic Turtle Beach Recon 50X unit, which I returned as it was broken right out of the box. I paid a few extra ££ to upgrade to the Plantronics RIG 400HX and I have to say I am blown away by how good it is for the money. It is incredibly comfortable to wear, doesn't make your ears hot, the sound is great and the mic works just fine. In this price range this headset is going to be pretty tough to defeat. Also, the camo is pretty nice too. Give it a go,I don't think you will be disappointed.

My son saved up his money for new headphones for his Xbox when he broke his old cheap ones and asked me to find him some "good ones".It never cuts out and never has a connection problem. His old cheap headphones always had connection problems even though they were wired. They're pretty tough too, my son hasn't managed to even scuff them yet.Thw only downside is that he's prone to losing the microphone since it can be disconnected. It's a great feature but my son loses things like there's no tomorrow.Sound is good but I'm no audiophile so it doesn't take much to make me happy. My son has no complaints, he really likes them.

Ever since purchasing my XBOX One a couple of years ago I have used the standard XBOX headset by Microsoft. However, as this had recently developed a fault, I decided to buy a replacement headset. So far I'm really impressed with the build and sound quality and wished I had upgraded much sooner. Several friends have more expensive headsets by different brands and I find this headset to be easily on par with the more expensive offerings of other brands.

Would highly recommend for gaming aswell as using media outlets. Compatible with any 3.5mm device such as the iPhone 6s aswell for sound + a microphone) and as my main use which was the xbox console. Before purchasing, make sure that your console’s controller has some sort of adapter(if you are using the old xbox controllers that dont have a 3.5mm) this will cost extra. But overall very satisfied with this product, the sound is amazing with Dolby Atmos.

Used for xbox one and mostly call of duty.Nice sound but not world changingGood microphone which friends can hear me wonderful on.However after about a year my friends starting telling me that it was giving buzzing feedback out of my microphone (I couldn't hear it) but after unplugging the aux cable and plugging it back in it seems to disappear. Not the most comfiest headset ever however a good budget one for sure

Such a great headset! A really good price, and amazing quality.Don't go spending ££££ on turtle beach etc. These do the job perfectly! The dolby atmos works so well! They are very light and comfortable for long gaming sessions.Great sounds quality, and they really immerse you into the game. There are wireless versions of these, but a much bigger price tag, and I don't mind the wire.

Very good product for the price. It's the first gaming headset ive owned and I am very happy with it. It has Good, clear sound and it is comfortable enough to wear for long periods of time.I love the fact the mic can be removed so the headset can be worn anywhere and anytime I want to listen to music.

Not the greatest sounding headset but great for the price. Had a couple of problems setting up and thought it was the mic. Got advice from my brother for help and works great now. One of the most comfortable headsets I have ever tried. If it had better sound I would of given it a five. Quick delivery.

Really good Xbox 1 speakers...1 criticism the jack plug and then a right angle. I find this annoying at times an would be better if it was just straight in my opinion. However the sound is good and they are comfortable. Nice quality for the price. With a straight jack plug these would be 5 stars.
