I bought this for my very steamy bathroom, which didn't have a bathroom-specific light. It was straight forward to fit. No earth connection, so be prepared to seal your earth cable appropriately when fitting.Firstly, this is for Zone 2 and 3, not Zone 0 and 1. An internet search for "Bathroom Lighting Zones" will show you what the zones are in your bathroom, but roughly speaking:Zone 0 means it get very wet and submerged in water, i.e. a light in your bathtub!Zone 1 means it's gets splashed with water, e.g. on the wall next to your shower and/or bathtub.Zone 2 means at the area around Zone 1, so just around the outside of the bathtub/shower,including the ceiling (unless the ceiling is very low and close to the shower).Zone 3 is everything else. This light is for zone 2 and 3 so it's fine for my needs and the typical bathroom. The light is in three parts: The frosted glass outer cover, twists to lock very nice and tightThe main fitting, which takes the electricity cable through a tight rubber grommet, ensuring a nice tight seal, and takes two screws to attach to the ceiling. The screws can be positioned anywhere along two grooves of about 5 cm each, so there is lots of room to choose the position of your screws according to your needs. The inner cover - this is nice: there is a clear plastic cover that goes over the bulb, held in place by three screws (tool provided in the box) and has a rubber seal around the edge of this inner cover. This gives a nice tight seal around the electric parts, before you attach the glass cover. All in all, a very solid light fitting. The glass cover was very tight to remove and re-attach (a good thing in my opinion), so I had to give it a light coating of silicone lubricant so I could twist it and lock it into position.I was skeptical of the Compact Florescent light bulb that came with it, since it wasn't LED and might not be bright enough, but it turned out to be a very good bulb indeed - the tone and brightness of the light is perfect for the bathroom.

Used to replace an old bathroom light, and it does look great. Plenty of light, and the energy saving bulb is straight on.However it loses a star because:1: It comes assembled, and trying to unscrew the shade from the base was difficult as there's no leverage, nothing to grip firmly enough.2: The inner "screen" is fixed to the base with three fiddly screws, complete with their own little allen key. Hmmm...so when the bulb dies, I'm going to remember where I put that particular item? I replaced them with normal screws, and Philips should do likewise! That's lazy, poor design in my book. There is no earth fixing. There's no metal in the base where one could be attached. But,with the base firmly attached to the ceiling, and two shades screening the electrics, this shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks to those that answered my problem of not being able to unscrew the glass shade from the plastic base to mount the light on the ceiling. In the end I put a screw driver blade resting on one of the small cut outs on the lug position and tapped the end with a hammer which loosened it.On examination the problem was the location lug inserts had plastic flash in the moulding which caused the diameter of the base unit to be too small and so jammed on the glass shade. I removed this flash with sandpaper and took the sharp edge off the glass shade and if fits perfectly without any tightness. So the problem is with Philips production and quality control. The light itself is robust and now does the job fine.

Bought to replace another we had put up incorrectly which unfortunately fell down and crashed all over the floor! Completely our fault! Well, I blame the husband!! Made sure this one was installed correctly and it is lovely. Extremely good price, and was delivered promptly. This is an extremely classy light fitting, perfect for the shower room. The bulb is very similar to natural light. Just make sure you follow the instructions (he didn't read them first time round!) to ensure that the glass shade twists on to the fitting correctly.

Given the poor reviews, I wonder if this is the same item.Easy to fit.Well designed. The glass cover unscrewd and fitted very easily.Has a rubber seal around an inner cover, which covers the bulb and the wiring.Cleaverly the rubber seal holds in place the 3 screws that hold the inner cover, which means that you ony have to hold the cover itself as you screw them in.It even has rubber seal around the hole though which the wiring enters the lamp compartment. This is the first light fitting I've fitted, not a single problem.

A nice quality stylish light. The 3 I ordered for different rooms never had the same difficulty others seem to have had with removing the glass diffuser, yes it's a good firm fit but no difficulty unscrewing. Connecting both in and out wiring to the terminals was a little fiddly but possible. No qualms with moisture thanks to the inner plastic cover with seal which protects my Philips hue bulbs. I was pleased enough with the quality and looks of the 1st to buy a further 2, all have been fitted for over a year with no issues.

I ended up buying two of these after being so impressed by the first one. It creates a lovely, bright light that isn't overpowering and diffuses well into the nooks and crannies of a bathroom/kitchen. The glass is surprisingly thick and it sits unobtrusively on the ceiling, neither making a statement nor being ugly. It's just a simple light that really does its job far better than a simple shade could ever manage. Highly recommended and replacement bulbs aren't too bad either, given they won't need replacing for some time.

Securely packed and delivered exactly as promised. A good, no frills, ceiling light. Easy to fit apart from the interior transparent cover, which is fastened by three torx screws, perhaps for security reasons. The allen key provided for these screws is inconveniently short. The CFL bulb takes a little while to reach full power but the resulting illumination is good. The glass cover has to be turned with a fair amount of force to lock it into position. Having said all that I'm none the less very pleased with this light.

Good quality. Easy to fit (with flexible drilling points - always useful when you want to fix to the joists). Simple, clean & fresh design. Worth paying a little more than other similar products (certainly much better than the Homebase lights which this model replaced). On receipt the bulb was smashed in one of the two we purchased (it happens, and the packaging was good so can't fault that), but the sellers promptly refunded a portion of the cost to cover this.Highly recommended.

Bought this as a replacement for an existing fitting in a downstairs loo. It has a good, soft, but bright, light, which is perfectly adequate for the size and functionality of the room. An electrician fitted it for me, so I cannot comment on how easy/difficult that was, but he didn't complain. It is a pretty, unobtrusive addition to the room, with which I am very happy.

very safe, was very impressed with this for a bathroom light as I do tend to run the shower for a long time leaving a lost of steam and condensation so I was delighted that inside the main layer there is another layer that you need a small allon key to get through to change the bulb5* from me

This is replacing a horrible bathroom light, nice light fitting especially as the outer shell is glass (pity amazon didn’t put this on Feb fist one sent out as it arrived shattered). Plus comes with a bulb, but a horrible cold fluorescent one which I had - what about an LED one Philips.

23.4.2016

Fairly easy to fit, and once the bulb "heats" up gives a nice white glow which I think looks great in a bathroom. Changing the bulb might be hard as there are several screws holding a waterproof seal over it, but I have never actually had an energy saver fail on me yet.

This light is bright and looks good. Would have been 5 stars but for the slightly dimmer first 10 seconds whilst the bulb warms up. The bulb we got was Philips energy saving 20W (95W equiv). We have struggled to find a bright IP44 unit but this does the trick!

Very easy to put up. The build and anti-mosture design is impressive. The edges where it curves round to the base is a bit more of a sharp angle than the picture shows. Plus there is a bit of a gap between the ceiling and the glass (about 2cm)
