I have the previous sonic model bought on amazons deal of the day and so was familiar with the app, that toothbrush s amazing so would this one measure up at a much higher cost?Firstly, the app has had an overhaul meaning it can sit in the backgoeund while working so if you use your iPhone for the radio or music in the bathroom you can now still do this without it cutting out while the app works. That was a minor annoyance but worth noting. The design is sleek and very nice, it's ergonomic and not heavy. The big difference here is the set of toothbrush heads which tell (or rather, suggest) the handle which programme it should work on for the best result. This is basically the toothbrush equivalent of a tassimo machine - the head has a small barcode or some such signal and once you attach it the handle reads it and selects the programme for you. Now these can be overridden and I think that's important as I can see people using the gum clean brush for normal brushing once their normal brush wears out for example.I pick the gum health brush first and the app asks me if I would like to set this as my 3 week challenge- the app likes its challenges and will try to get you to do as many as possible. The cleaning is very good, and if you are familiar with the technique then it is the same, upper three and then lower three, then the gum health section comes into pace and for the next 80 seconds you reclean your teeth but this time it vibrates and cleans / massages the gums. Strange,t, this programme only does 4 quadrants, upper and lower right and front (both top and bottom) are ignored.Once the programme has finished it goes through it's annoying little checklist (did you floss? Yes / no. Did you use mouthwash? Etc) but these can be stopped in the settings.A slight annoyance was when I attached the tongue cleaning head and made myself gag for 20 seconds and yet at the end of brushing my teeth it still asked me if I had cleaned my tongue? If the device has all these little microchips I would have thought it would have remembered.the tongue cleaning was very good actually and I happily set up the clean tongue challenge! The charging device - well it looks amazing and so different but it has a downside as well. It's a chargin glass and you put your toothbrush in it and it charges, I assume also, this is where you keep your spare brushes as there are 4 of them in the complete set (you get all four included)If your bathroom has an easily accessible two point plug then this could look rather stylish sat by your sink, unfortunately ours doesn't and so it looks rather stylish on the floor outside our bathroom! Also, we have been using Sonicare devices for years and it's nice to know everything worked on the same charger, this is like owning the one Apple device when it became a lightning charge in a house of the old 16pin iPod chargers. It would put me off taking it away as the glass charger isn't exactly portable, although the brush itself does come with a sturdy travel case, and I wouldn't want it to running of juice. However, this is where the previous model will now be used. The bottom line is this is an expensive anndhigh end piece of kit. I suspect the price will drop down but it will still be a lot of money. If you appreciate the clean you get with sonic and know it's the best then yes, this is the next natural step. Are all the microchipped brush heads necessary? I don't think so yet, you could easily manually adjust the programme to suit the head if you wanted to and therefore is a little gimmicky.I was tempted to give this 4 stars as the cost just couldn't be justified to me, but the fact remains that Sonicare is an amazing clean and will improve your dental hygiene so much that you will never look back.

I am an amazon vine reviewer. I have been using the Philips Sonicare DIamondClean Smart Electric toothbrush for a couple of weeks now. This review is an interim assessment for this time. The brush handle and its related 4 brush attachments and the App that you can download have resulted in my teeth being the cleanest they have been compared to my previous brush. I recommend that you download the App before you use any of the brushes. You then Bluetooth sync your brush to the App. You get a "plan view" of your top and bottom teeth. The brush heads have a piezo crystal which means as you attach the head to the brush handle, it knows which brush head is fitted. From this the App guides you on where to start brushing- for example, top teeth set, starting in the middle. You press the power button and the App diagram guides you where to brush your teeth in a set sequence. The handle has a higher pitched sound than I have experienced before. Every 20 seconds the App diagram shows you where next to start cleaning. If you brush too fast or hard the App and then brush base tell you to ease off. ONce the sequence is complete the brush stops. It checks that you have flossed, used the tongue cleaner and used a mouthwash. You get encouraging words about your progress on the App and also an indicator when to replace the brush heads. You can brush your teeth without the App, but it is more thorough to use the App. There are 4 brush heads - plaque defense, gum care, premium white and the tongue care ( a tongue spray) comes with the package. The timings for the 4 heads vary. I found that the first 3 all cleaned my teeth very well and that the tongue brush certainly cleans my tongue - new sensation for me! You can charge the brush either by putting the handle in a glass which seats onto a charging base. Or you can connect the travel case with its USB connector to the power supply with the handle seated into the 'box. The resulting clean of my teeth has been superb.Using the same toothpaste as before my teeth are both whiter and smoother to the "tongue test".My conclusion is that this is the best powered toothbrush I have ever used and it certainly is very "smart". I would give it more than 5 stars!

Bluetooth connected toothbrushes have been around for a while and I found the last one I had a bit of a gimmick. It didn't really do much when you connected to it and once the novelty wore off I didn't bother connecting again. This brush rectifies that by being one that actually has a useful app that tracks your brushing and gives you coverage of where you have brushed so you can make sure you get full coverage. The app shows a mock up a set of teeth and highlights the area to brush. As you brush it highlights the front or back and colours the back and front of teeth in as they are cleaned. This works quite well, but I did find that in some areas I had to make sure that the brush was held in a certain position otherwise it couldn't detect where it was (This was mainly the back of the teeth.) The app allows you to set goals (For example, Gum health, which makes you do a bit of extra brushing at the end on the molars). It also warns you if you move too fast, and afterwards gives you an indication of the areas where you 'scrubbed'. I am impressed with the app and have continued to use it even when the novelty has worn off.The handle itself is a stylish, with a nice grip and simple controls and lights to show the mode you're in. The handle detects the type of head you have on and automatically selects a program for you (No more fiddling with buttons). I quite like this feature. There's a glass that sits on top of the charger for holding your handle, which is a neat touch. Connection to the phone takes place as soon as you lift it off the charger and I didn't have a problem with connecting, making the whole process feel seamless and offering a good user experience. It came with three brush heads, a tongue cleaner, some mouthwash and a travel case that doubles as a USB charger (And is charged by USB itself.)A pretty impressive package, justifying its price. The seamless connection and the way the app monitors coverage and scrubbing make for a good user experience. It's a sonic brush, so on first use it was quite strange and 'tickled' a bit. There's a special mode to ease the user into full speed - they really have thought of everything.

This is my first time ever using an electric toothbrush of any description, so it's been quite a learning curve. Not having other similar toothbrush experience, I can only give my perspective that this was a great one to start on - the mobile app interface really helps educate and motivate.. even if it can be a bit clunky and awkward to use.So what do you get for your money - the handle for the brush with sonic motor, various brush heads which are designed for different uses, a travel case, a charging glass, access to a mobile app and some mouthwash. It all feels like a quality product, and the bursh itself has been really reliable. The app I loved for its concept and how it helps you monitor how thorough you have been and making sure you get all the spots, recording your progress.. I can't help thinking this app wth its goals and targets and real time monitoring of your brushing would be great for keeping kids motivated with their brushing regime.. but maybe I am being a bit optimistic! My only concern is the app not being easier to use. bluetooth connection isn't seamless, and viewing your data can be less than intuitive. But the concept is so good that I don't object too much - look on it as a potential improvement. Also, maybe this is because I am a rookie sonic toothbrush user - but how do you get the toothpaste where you want it? If you put the toothpaste on the brush, as soon as the brush is engaged the vibration sends most of the toothpaste in all directions. I have marks on my bathroom wall I still haven't managed to get out. Is it just me...?? Meantime I am instead trying to smear the paste in my mouth prior to brushing but it feels more awakward than I'd like.At this price range it's hard to imagine what it would take to get a 5 star review for a mere toothbrush - the ease of use and app interface go a long way in the right direction, but the clunkiness of the app and difficulty keeping toothpaste on the brush are all that is keeping this one off the top rung.

We have a Water Pik system which we have multiple heads for, but my daughter's sensitive teeth don't like even the lowest setting when using her toothbrush head. I decided to try her on a quality electric toothbrush and this came up in my queue, and we decided to give this one a shot. It was actually quite intimidating right out of the box. Multiple brush heads, a manual, mentions of a phone app, etc. My 16-year-old daughter ending up saying 'sod it' and taking it in her room to peruse the use of. She tells me it turns out to be actually simple to use, just fancily packaged. It comes with a two pin plug charging and travel case, as well as a glass for you to store your brush heads in,which is a nice touch. After charging the toothbrush base, you simply pop in a toothbrush head and go brush your teeth, taking care to not miss any areas and to not rush through it. There are a total of four heads and they allow you to do different things, including clean your tongue, which is great for first thing in the morning. If you download the app, the toothbrush will connect to it via Bluetooth and tell you how well you did and pointers regarding areas that you need to pay more attention to. She didn't like the tongue spray's taste, but she's using it anyway during her morning brush session, opting to do a tooth and gum cleanse in the evenings followed by a good rinse with her chosen variety of Listerine. The vibrations also do not upset her sensitive teeth, a major bonus. She loves her teas and coffee lattes and this has done a good job of keeping her teeth looking bright and healthy and she says that after brushing, her teeth feel squeaky clean and she doesn't have any problems with her gums. It's a pricey toothbrush, sure, and you'll have to replace the heads every so often as well, which adds an ongoing cost, but the results so far make it seem worth it.

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart Electric Toothbrush - Cashmere Grey Edition (UK 2-Pin Bathroom Plug) HX9924/44In the box.The brush, 3 heads, bottle of mouth wash, charger with 2 pin plug, charging case and instructions.Set up.This brush can be used like any other electric tooth brush or along with an app that monitors your brushing. Obviously, you need a mobile phone to use this feature. You download the app from Philips and then pair it with the brush., The brush then sends data to the app about you brushing frequency, quality and advice on your brushing and it even spots cavities. The app produces graphs and gives advice on dental health.Charger.The brush has to be charged up and a glass bathroom container charger is provided which also acts as a storage container. There is also a mobile charger box for use away from home. This holds the brush and heads.Using.The brush has several modes including, cleaning, gum health, whitening and deep clean. I mostly use it on the cleaning mode for two minutes in the morning and evening. It does a great job and really does clean your teeth as well as a dental hygienist would. I have been using Philips Diamond clean brushes for over 3 years now and have never needed any dental cleaning during my 6 monthly check ups. My dentist often comments on how clean my teeth are.Overall.This is an expensive brush but it does give the best cleaning results of any type or brand out there. The app is useful but could do with a bit of tidying up to make it more logical. I have been using these brushes for over 3 years and apart from checks ups have not needed any work done. If you can affords one then these are a good investment in your dental health. You can get the same brush without the app part for alot less so I would go for that unless thge app facility is important to you.

This is a high-quality, powerful toothbrush with lots of good features. Unfortunately the 'smart' features are not very impressive. It has a lot of good points:* It is *very* powerful - not quite as powerful as when you go to the dentist, but very close. You certainly feel as though your teeth are tetting a really deep clean.* The battery lasts for a long time. I have got 2-3 weeks for each charge using it twice a day, much better than the Oral B brush I used before.* It comes with a lot of extras - 3 different brush heads, mouth wash, a travel case and a glass to hold the brush that also doubles up as the chargerNow for the bad points:* The app is awful - it isn't smart at all.It just bases the feedback on the position you are holding the toothbrush rather than any actual real feedback about how you are brushing your teeth.* The battery just suddenly runs out without warning. This has resulted in me putting toothpaste on the brush and then finding it out of power on numerous occasions, which is very frustrating.* Another annoying 'smart' feature is that it tells you when the brush heads need replacing. Again, this is based on how many times it has been used, rather than any real feedback about the state of the bristles. And once it decides the brush needs changing, it will pester you incessantly until you do change it. Seems like more of a ploy to get people to buy new brush heads more often to me!Overall, this is a very impressive electric toothbrush, but I'm not sure it's worth the premium price tag as it certainly isn't smart!

Definitely the best electric toothbrush I've had so far, though you'd expect it to be.Perhaps the thing that makes it stand out the most compared to other models is that, using a pressure sensor, a light flashes at the bottom of the brush if you brush too hard - thus reducing the likelihood of damaging your gums. My dentist has told me off in the past for brushing too hard, so this feature is brilliant.Other great features:- Three levels of brushing intensity, so you can choose according to your personal preferences.- Five different brushing modes, including tongue care. These alter the vibrations, but I honestly didn't notice a difference in how my teeth felt afterwards in terms of cleanness/smoothness/sensitivity- The toothbrush tells you when to replace your brush head (though I reckon that, like sell-by-dates, you can ignore this for some time - I'm sure Philips has no ulterior motive in getting you to buy more brush heads)- Choice of charging - a contactless charging glass (very cool); or a charging case that plugs into a USB port (very handy for travel)There is also a "companion app" that details your usage and how to improve your brushing, but I haven't felt inclined to explore it in great detail - is it really necessary? In summary, although I think that this hits "peak toothbrush" in terms of having TOO many extra features (i.e. companion app and multiple brushing modes), my teeth and I feel very happy with this product.

You get what you pay for. I have been using Philips Sonicare products for over ten years. Yes, the Philips range is expensive, but generally after six months the prices drastically come down and make them more affordable and the de facto choice in my view. I do like the Oral-B range, but the Philips battery lasts longer and just seem to be more sturdy and last longer. This DiamondClean brush is great it has all the new features and you can download the app if you wish. The main detail is in the brush, it is powerful and the brush heads are far superior than others. You can change the brush head to the one that suits you the most. Generally, the DiamondClean heads are priced very well and last longer than a normal toothbrush. The added tongue cleaner and spray put the icing on the cake. It's not that I need it, but it is something nice to have. The other very important part is that it is now USB powered charging. What a relief I can now use my portable charger to charge this anywhere. So, when you are abroad and you get power-cuts, no problem just use your portable power brick. Very impressed. I've always wanted the ability to have a electric toothbrush with USB charging and now I have one. This is the single most important factor when you are travelling allot. It's Philips and DiamondClean, need I say anymore. It cleans extremely well and you know you have brushed your teeth the dentist way.Highly Recommended.

The toothbrush itself is excellent. Great cleaning action, feels excellent in the hand. The options of cleaning are simple to use and they do really make a difference. The tooth brush heads are high quality. I am also impressed with the app, simple to use and really helps you brush correctly. I use the iOS version and I would certainly recommend it. The charge also lasts. So why only 4 stars..?- you can charge it using the glass or the travel case, the previous brand option of the stand up charger seems to have gone- the glass takes up too much room unless you want it sitting there all the time, it’s the size of a tumbler and just feels overkill to charge a toothbrush- the alternative is the travel case, this has multiple issues- the usb cable is connected so if you damage it then not are what you do- the cable is in the bottom so the case does not sit flat when used- you remove the cover on the bottom when using the cable, bad design as it means you have a bit of cover just hanging around- the case itself does not click shut but seems to use magnets, this means it easily opens when in a bag..a travel case that travels badlySo if you want a really great toothbrush then this ticks every box. It really is a great brush. The issue is charging it or traveling with it and for me, that means it is just not quite right.

It is possible that this product is just a bit over the top. Of course I want my teeth clean and I have just had some expensive and painful dental interventions to remind me how much I want a good clean but you have hear a variety of brushes, a variety of speeds and an app to make sure you are doing it all properly. Despite all my best intentions I am not using most of these facilities.I don't want the app because I think it is a gimmick and I am not messing around with my phone when I am only half awake first thing in the morning but others may find it helpful (and possibly I should use it to prevent any more of the aforesaid dental treatment).I have found one head and one speed that suit me fine but having the variety means that one product probably does suit everyone. I use my own toothbrush but I can see that if you shared this then that feature would be great.I adore the fact that it has a travelling case as so few toothbrushes do and I hate to use a manual one after using an electric version - you can really tell the difference. It holds the charge well so that I only charge it every week and it would possibly last longer. And it looks good - really sleek which isn't a necessity but is an added bonus. An excellent brush but maybe too many features ? Of course, you don't have to use them all ...

I have used various electric toothbrushes prior to testing this Philips Sonicare Diamond/Clean Smart ElectricToothbrush. Immediately out of the box -it has a quality feel in terms of appearance, technology and thenumerous options it presents for the complete dental and oral hygiene package. How did it fare in doing the essential role of keeping your teeth clean? Answer - very, very good. The toothbrushhas a range of cleaning options from clean, white, deep clean, gum health and tongue care. The latter requires a changeof brush which is enclosed together with other brush heads dealing with plaque defence, gum care and premium white. So all possibilities are catered for -a comprehensive approach. There is also an app available to indicate to you on how effective is your teeth cleaning. It also lets you know if you havemissed any sections. The technology involved in this is impressive but it requires one hundred per cent discipline to makeit count. This part is perhaps not for me -but for the fastidious and for those where dental care is a priority it will be aninvaluable help. This is an 'all singing and dancing' package for dental and oral care. Whilst it is not the cheapest, there is no getting away fromthe fact that it is very, very effective.

Toothbrushes these days are getting smart. Very smart. And the latest from Philips makes my other Philips Sonicare look so 2016. For the first time in 41 years I've learnt how to brush my teeth properly and I have a brush that comes with brush heads that clean my tongue, whiten my teeth, keep my gums healthy. I can also charge my brush by simply placing it in a very stylish glass. Surprisingly, the app is the revelation, coaching one to clean one's teeth better until it becomes second nature. However, it's a little tricky to use at first and it really is not easy holding a toothbrush in one hand and a smartphone in the other, trying to follow the brushing pattern whilst the toothbrush sprays toothpaste all over your bathroom mirror because it's vibrating so violently. And I will point out one thing, which is that the Oral B genius 8000 is currently half the price of this ( i.e £130 versus £260) and from what I've read the app is superior. However, with its brush heads adapted for different needs the Philips seems to be the more versatile of the two and maybe the best we have until someone invents a machine that brushes your teeth for you. Ergonomically speaking the toothbrush and its accessories are a thing of beauty, as well.

Out the box, you get four different brush heads, Premium White for whitening, Premium Clean for plaque control, Premium Gum Care for gum health, and Tongue Care for brushing your tongue. So far, I have used the whitening head on mine and once you fit on the brush head you want to use the toothbrush automatically changes to whitening mode. Throughout brushing your teeth, the toothbrush pulses to let you know when to move on to a different area of your mouth which is really good. The toothbrush also makes a quick pulsing noise at the end of brushing to let you know when it needs charging.I recently took it on holiday for 2 weeks and the charge lasted 12 of the 14 days which was excellent.I didn't have a 2 pin charger in our hotel bathroom so the USB charger came in very handy. We used an iPhone charger plug and attached the USB from the travel case and it charged up fully. The Philips Sonicare App is a nice addition which teaches you how to brush your teeth correctly for the best results, highlighting any areas you have missed or haven’t spent enough time on.Absolutely love this electric toothbrush, it looks very stylish in the bathroom and It does an excellent job, teeth feel really clean.

I generally tend to use Braun Oral B toothbrushes (of varying costs) but was definitely interested to see what a "premium" toothbrush like this could offer (NB when I selected this it was selling for c. £250 but is now an eye watering £360!!)I have to say I love everything about it (although the app is wasted on me; yes I have a smart phone but I have no desire to use a toothbrushing app at the moment although when I do get time I will try that out and update the review). One thing I don't like about the toothbrush is that you can only charge it whilst resting in the glass (which then sits on top of a little charging disc)- the toothbrush isn't flat at the bottom so I am unable to leave it standing up in my bathroom and with a not quite 4 year old always interested to know what's going on I don't feel like I can leave the (very heavy) glass in the bathroom or anywhere else for that matter in order to charge the toothbrush. This (virtually wireless) charging method may of course be brilliant for others! You get 4 heads, a travel case, a charger (USB charger at that!) with the glass and a smallish bottle of tongue cleaning spray.Yes it's a brilliant toothbrush; would I pay £300+ for it? No.
