These are good robust bulbs. The white "colour" is OK, perhaps not quite as warm as tungsten but perfectly acceptable for a living room. They are bright. Actually compared to 40W tungsten they appear brighter. Ditto compared to the nearest equivalent halogen (I compared them, I still had one 40W tungsten candle bulb after all these years!). I used six of the Philips LEDs, 3 in each of two ceiling fittings on one circuit. I found it too bright compared to the outgoing halogen and had to resort to a dimmer switch (I used Varilight V-Pro which worked fine with the Philips LEDs - I wrote a review of that too). Two things to note:1) They are a little fatter and longer than regular tungsten/halogen candle bulbs.I guess as the state of the art improves we may see smaller versions of these lights.2) They give off a smell in the first few hours of operation, a warm circuit type smell, not very pleasant.Suggest you put them on initially when you can ventilate the room. They are a bit pricey so I hope they will last. I will be saving having reduced 240W to 36W tho the payback time will be very long. I think I would only recommend swopping for sets of lights that see heavy use.

I've been looking for a low energy/LED alternative for candle bulbs for a long time, and I've tried loads of different ones, mainly of the low energy type and they were just rubbish. They lasted a few weeks, and didn't respond well to dimming. But finally I came across these, and they are the PERFECT alternative. They give off exactly the same amount of light as a 42W Halogen, and it's spread just as evenly, unlike some LED bulbs which have a very concentrated beam. And one massive bonus is they respond perfectly to a standard dimmer switch.I still have some halogen bulbs in the light fitting alongside this one, as I'm replacing them as they go,and you'd be hard pushed to spot the difference between them. The only slight niggle is the white bit on the bottom 3rd of the bulb which some people might think doesn't look great, but it's a very minor thing which you soon wont notice.

Absolutely astounded by how warm and bright these are in comparison to other brands. If you are like me and are adversely affected by cold, ugly, sterile, depressing cool white lights then look no further! My dad kept ordering cheap, cool white LED candle bulbs because apparently you can't buy brighter warm white LED bulbs (yes I disagreed too). Admittedly this purchase was to prove a point but now he want's to replace all of our existing blue/white LED bulbs with Philips Warm white.Pros - Bright, warm, great light scattering, reach full brightness instantly with no warm up time, bulb does not get hot, energy efficient and dimmable.Cons - could be a little cheaper but at this quality I don't mind paying a bit more!

Not the Cheapest bulbs around, but there isn't a great range of dimmable bulbs available. Does the job very well, no problems so far. They are very bright, using 10 of them in 2 ceiling light in a 5m by 6m room and I couldn't wish for more light. If you need dimmable light bulbs these are the ones to go for, but if you don't need dimmable you can find lots of cheaper ones but still good quality. They look better better then most budget ones if that matters.

Exceptional light quality , truly a candle bulb replacement. After usung some meganan candle led bulbs on my chandelier my biggest gripe was how directional (upwards) the light was. With this bulb this problem is solved as it distributes light evenly throughout the living room , instead of just the ceiling. Also light output is more natural and very similar to the halogens that they replaced

This is exactly what I was looking for, a dimmable led bulb that you can just install in the same place where you have your normal bulbs without adding any adaptor or any fancy led dimmer. And looks really nice. Keep in mind that 40W is a lot, very bright, even you adjust the dimmer to minimum, so I bought only 1 to try, then I bought 23 W. 40W in lower setting looks like a 23W in max.

It's definitely great, they feel solid/high quality. But.. yes, there's a but :P When I tried dimming them (with a 3 setting dimmable lamp) the buzzing noise was extremely annoying. I tried this with 2 completely different lamps with the same result :(When I tried it in a 'normal' on or off lamp, it worked perfectly. Really bright (definitely around a traditional 40w bulb :) )

Perfect dimmable light. replaced cheaper alternates that I found online, which all blew within weeks ofbuying. Some LED bulbs out there dont handle UK voltage spikes aparently. These seem to operate without any issues. the little clear bit in the middle helps to distribte the light evenly around the room.

2700K.5 in the lounge "chandelier" & 6 in two lights in the bedroom.Dimmable (at least with my dimmer switches which are 10 years old!!).Great warm bright light and better than the incandescents they replaced.Let's see how long they last.Would thoroughly recommend.

Good bright lamp, which I have been using for a couple of months now, without problems. Seems to be a bit longer in length than standard bulb of same wattage, therefore it can "stick out" above the shade on smaller talbe lamps, hence four stars not 5.

Nice, solid bulbs. Very bright. Attractive when illuminated. Looking forward to savings. Unfortunately buzzing noise with dimmer. Bulbs slightly fatter than previous standard SES bulbs, but still fit lamp holder.Look great. Shame about the noise!

Actually dims properly unlike some cheaper low energy bulbs bought from B&Q ... Very slight hum on the dimmed setting, but very slight. Can only be heard as the bulbs are in bedside lamps and much quieter than the previously purchased bulbs.

Really pleased with these bulbs, replaced the two wall lights in my living room, nice light, and a lot cheaper to run than candle bulbs I did have in. Surprised they get hot/warm, but not too hot that you can't touch them, very pleased.

Powerful, the first time i use dimmable led bulbs, it increases power light in steps, so it is not going to be smoothly dimmable like a standard bulb, but it is fine at least for me.Light reaches 100% immediately after turning it on.
