I bought this to go in my front porch. No fancy colours with this, just plain white. You will need the hue hub to make it work. The bulb itself is an Edison Screw so make sure make sure that it's the right sort of bulb for the lighting fixture that you want to use the bulb in. It's worth taking a nice clear picture of the bulb before you put it up - the bulbs have individual codes that you can use it the hue hub doesn't automatically find your new bulb so make sure the code is in focus. I have other hue light bulbs and the hue hub found all the others straightaway but not this one - probably because it 's the furthest from the hub.Unfortunately I hadn't read anything about the code so I ended up going up and down stairs and up and down a ladder a couple of times before I got it right. Once I typed the code into the app the bulb connected straight away.Once it was set up along with the dimmer it all works wonderfully. I use the dimmer switch just to turn the porch light on and off if someone comes to the door and I don't want to shout at Alexa or get my phone. The backing plate sticks to the wall and is battery operated so no need to do any drilling or wiring. The switch it's self is detachable and acts as a remote control that you can take anywhere in the house, as this one was for the porch light I just leave it in situ. I have another dimmer switch that's connected to my bedroom lights and with that set up I do use it more like a remote control and often remove it from the base plate - as it's magnetic it really easy to do and shouldn't present any problems for anyone with limited dexterity in their hands. The icing on the cake is the 'routines' within the app that allows you to turn the selected light on or off when leaving and returning home. It works in concert with the location of your phone - you set the area so it knows not to turn the light off before you've left your dive way. You can also set it so it won't trigger unless it's after dark that way you're not wasting electricity if your just popping out in the middle of the day.Not cheap but I don't have any buyer's remorse and I'll certainly be adding to my hue lights as time and finances allow.

The Hue dimmer provides simple, intuitive control of your lights for everyone in the house via an interface which you don't need to explain to anyone, and at a reasonable price. The switch comes packaged with a dimmable (white light only) bulb and can be configured in two ways. If you are new to Hue and don't have a bridge then the switch can be paired directly with up to 10 bulbs which it will then control simultaneously. If you have an existing Hue setup then you add the switch to your bridge and assign it to control any group of lights saved on your bridge (the 10 bulb limit does not apply). You can then add the new bulb to your bridge via the Hue app.The switch feels nice in your hand, the button feedback is good and it feels like a well made piece of kit. The switch is held in place magnetically in the wall mount so you can remove it easily for use on the sofa or whatever. When you replace it then it clips firmly back into place and has a small bulge at one end to prevent you putting it back on the wall upside down.Out of the box the four buttons are self explanatory, power on, dim up, dim down and power off; these commands all apply to the same set of lights. Power users however can configure the switch any way they please, you can set different commands depending upon a long or short press of each button, add conditional responses, control multiple light groups and all sorts, provided you have a little experience with RESTful APIs and spend some time with the documentation on the Philips website. The only thing I would change would be the dimensions of the wall mount. It's taller and narrower than a standard single gang switch, so you can't fit it in place of an existing light switch, but that's a minor niggle. The dimmer is a must have for practicality, especially in a family home where others aren't so keen to use an app to control the lights all the time.

Bought two of these and they are a great add-on to the Hue starter kit. I purchased this kit for two reasons:1) Hue is only really practical if you have Hue lightswitches in your rooms (who wants to start a phone app to turn on a light?)2) This is a cheap way to get both a lightswitch and an extra bulb. The round Hue lightswitch is clever, fancy and way too expensive. The only slight issue I had was adding the items to my Hue system. First I couldn't get the switch to appear in the system, and then I couldn't get the bulb to appear. I think the problem is the same in both cases - the two items are paired together out-of-the-box to work as a bulb and dimmer.I found nothing in the instructions in the box to help with this problem.Eventually I found the solution - there are a couple of steps.1) You have to factory reset the dimmer switch - instructions are in the Hue FAQ for this device. Be warned once you do this you cannot use the dimmer/bulb standalone again.2) Your Hue system will not recognise the bulb. You have to try and add the bulb and then when it fails to find the bulb you have to manually enter the bulb ID. This ID is printed in tiny letters just above the fitting - you did write that down before you put the bulb in, didn't you (Answer: No you didn't)Once this procedure was complete the items work brilliantly, and you can use the dimmer to control any bulb or scene you have set up, including overriding the scene brightness.I don't know why Phillips don't promote this component more because I think it's what makes Hue really useable.

These are excellent - works well with my Phillips Hue setup. I haven't tried using them without the bridge, but I understand they work well. However, my results are based on using it with the bridge and the app, and I think they are great. It pairs easily - it's a little pin hole in the back of the dimmer to pair, then run the app setup and it links in with the hub setup.Four buttons on the main unit - on, off, increase brightness and reduce brightness. The increase and reduce brightness are very incremental - maybe a 2% reduction\increase with each press, so generally you hold it down for a few seconds and the brightness changes.Works with either the supplied bulb,or any other on the Phillips hue bridge - you can control up to three bulbs using one dimmer switch, although they are all linked together (i.e. three bulbs on one switch, press on and all three will come on - you can then turn them off using the app, if you only want two on).I can see myself getting more of these - I think really you should have these in each room a bulb is in, as you can then leave the lights powered on all the time, and leave the control down to this switch. The single downside is that you will generally have two switches in each room, your current switch for on\off, and this. I have put a bit of invisible tape over the depressed side of normal switch, so it's not easy to turn off. This has no impact on power consumption for the house (I checked using the British gas smartmeter).Anyway, recommended, especially if you already have a Phillips setup.

As much as I love my Hue lights, I don't want to have to control them from a phone/tablet all the time. The dimming switch works well for when you just want a good old fashioned switch, but adds some decent customizability too.Assign as many individual lights to the switch as you like, or just an entire room. By default all of the buttons act as you'd expect with a single press - on turns them on to their last setting, off turns them off, and you can raise/lower the brightness with the middle two buttons. However you can also assign additional profiles to subsequent presses of the "on" button. You can have separate actions assigned for 2 up to 5 presses for a total of 4 profiles. It sounds more complicated than it is - it works really smooth in reality and you quickly get used to "two presses for bright white, three for mood lighting, four for movie watching setting..." or whatever you prefer. If you're feeling extra lazy, the switch itself easily comes away from the wall mount and can be used as a portable remote, and attaches back magnetically.Of course it also comes with a "standard" Hue bulb. So no reds and blues of the premium bulbs, or even the adjustable white balance of the medium bulbs, but you still have the smart management and dimming, so great for the places where you just want light, but not full customisation, like hallways.Overall, a great addition to your Hue lighting system.

Have invested in the hue system - it's currently cheaper to buy this dimmer with the ES white bulb than just the switch. This combination will work straight out of the box without needing the bridge - I'm using just the dimmer that comes with a mounting plate that can be stuck on to smooth surfaces or screwed as required. The switch itself is held onto the base plate with a pair of magnets so can pulled off.Have just ordered a further 3 from light11.eu (switch only).Mine is paired to the HomeKit bridge - it controls a hue coloured bayonet bulb that can be switch on, off or dimmed up or down. The dimmer can control a single bulb or a scene. This dimmer is battery-powered (CR2450)but runs on Zigbee that's very low power so don't really expect life to be an issue (2 - 5yrs?). I have ordered four dimmers without bulbs for under £22 each - expect Amazon to follow fairly soon. Although they only control one lamp or scene, unlike the Tap switch that control 3 & turn off any, the dimmer is entirely suited to one hue bulb per room or a pair etc. The switch remembers the last state so if it was dimmed right down & you you switch back on, the light will come on dim. The dimmer buttons don't activate until the the On button is pressed & all changes to brightness are fairly slow. If the price drops as I expect, these will be very fair value.

I am so happy with this - after much review and also reading other peoples' feedback, I wanted to add my own.Edison (E27) fitting screws perfectly into lamp. This is actually for my parents' bedroom as my dad has become a bit of a night owl.. yet the 'always on' LED bulb we used to have was just too bright. So I got this so my mum can dim it right down lower than a 25W equivalent, and then if dad wakes her ups, she can use the remote to brighten the room and he can get around easier (snack/bathroom etc). The graduation from full power to lowest output is perfect. Love the remote and also the holder/caddy, which just sits on the bedside as there's nothing magnetic. There is a slim bar at the underside top that let's you know which way up the remote is, so in low-light, you just rotate it in your hand if needed. Also a green light at the top when a button is pressed. Buttons are: ON, BRIGHTNESS UP, BRIGHTNESS DOWN, AND OFF - it's a generic remote so has a toggle function for the Philips 'ambience' collection - which I am not interested in that as I only wanted a functional adjustable light for old people that worked out the box, and nothing to do with wifi, buying the bridge hub, and colour temperature/ things like that. May even get one for my nieces so they can have some mood lighting at bedtime... plus they will love that remote!

Can't praise Philips Hue Lights enough; they work off of the app (Available on all platforms) to set colours, you have 16 million in theory to choose from) as well as an ever expanding range of dimmer switches, on/off buttons, motion sensors, Amazon's Alexa, Siri, links into your Nest Thermostat and smoke detectors and automatically turn red if coloured, or low light white if there's smoke as this is the most visible light in smoke/haze.This is a set that works out of the box, you can have up to ten of these white lights operating off of the dimmer switch without the need of the Philips Hue hub, which at £50 is expensive- if you buy into the Hue system get a starter pack as you'll get three coloured bulbs (or two lightstrip plus')and the hub is effectively free but the kit is £149! If you want more than ten lamps/lights you'll need the home hub. If you like gadgets, love the idea of painting your house in colour... setting scenes for the best TV or Movie experience... even down to the mundane like cooking and cleaning Hue will help you set the tone for your happy lit home. (Hey. I'm a big fan!)

First, I have to say this bulb isn't as bright as the LED bulb it replaces, It's only in the drying room, so the slightly lower light level isn't a deal breaker ...but it's enough to drop a star.I've programmed the Dimmer to work via the bridge and the colour light in the master bedroom - as my other half kept forgetting to bring her iPhone upstairs of an evening. I set the "On" button to scroll through 5 different scenes - the first being a low light setting so as not to dazzle if we need to turn the light on during the night. I've also purchased an app called "iConnectHue" that allows for programming more options and scenes to different button presses, as we'll soon be receiving a strip light for behind our bed's headboard,I'll use that to adjust different scenes. We currently have 8 Hue lights in the house, and I may well buy another Dimmer for mounting downstairs. The attached images are screenshots from the iConnectHue app! The amount of Control options for the whole Hue system makes Philips' own Hue app look crippled, and adds greatly to the functionality of the Dimmer switch.

If you have Philips Hue lights in you home you need another way to turn them on and off apart from the mobile app. I have bought two sets of this dimmer and lightbulb kit. I control my three living room lamps with this switch. Using other apps (e.g. iConnectHue) you can assign multiple functions and scenes to each button making the dimmer switch much more versatile. It is very easy to install, just peal off the cover on the double sided tape on the back and stick it to the wall. The switch itself is magnetically attached to the wallplate. This makes it really useful as you can detach it and keep it on your bedside table when going to sleep, and then in the morning snap it back onto the wallplate. The dimming works brilliantly and it is really simple to use. Setup was very easy as well with the Hue app, you can control multiple lights with the same switch.Buying the dimmer switch with the bulb makes sense if, like me, you are still expanding your Hue light setup, it works out cheaper.I will probably buy more of these over the coming months. Really impressed!!

These dimming switches are great. The look amazing and work with no lag. I have bought 4 now and will get more in the future when I upgrade the next rooms in the house. My setup is with a Hue Bridge and HomeKit (apple TV) and the setup was really easy. It's so much easier when waling in a room to hit the switch than getting my phone out and using an app.The remote build quality is good and feels worth the price. The switch has 5 brightness presets done by clicking the on button multiple times and also has brightness up/down switches. There are apps that can be bought that let you reprogram all the buttons as well as holds and multi taps, so the remote is actually more useful than it first seems. The bulbs are bright. These replaced my old dumb Philips bulbs and they a rated at the same wattage, however these seem to be much much brighter. The packs only come with GU27 screw fittings - most sockets in my house are BC. You can't seem to by GU27 sockets anywhere so you need to get an adaptor. I ended up spending more and getting the

If you have any Hue lamps installed then the dimmer switch can be very useful. Saves having to start the app up - you can just switch on the lights. Unlike the other Hue switch where you have a choice of three scenes and off you can only control one scene with this. However, you can adjust brightness. You can use this together with the other switch. This switch is battery powered so may be worth checking if you have spares for the future but at this point I have no idea how long the battery will last. In addition to the switch you get a mounting plate which the switch can be mounted with the built in magnets. The plate means that it can be positioned as you would a normal light switch but still remove it if required.Really happy with the switch/remote.The Hue bulb in the kit is just dimable white so not as useful as the full colour bulbs. But for use in a bedroom or work room where you need adjustable light but not different colours then it works well.

This is the white Philips Hue bulb with the wireless dimming switch. I have replaced many of my bulbs with the hue bulbs, some with the colour changing and others such as hallways with dimmable white. The bulbs just replace your existing ones and connect via the hue hub, that you will also want to get the most from these lights. My dimmer switches have been positioned next to my main light switches and you can set 4 themes from each on press, so you can store your favourite ones as a preset, easily turning them on or off. If you just use the dimmer switch with the bulb, it willl allow you to switch the bulb on or off as well as dim or brighten it.The biggest part to learn is leaving the light switches set to on,so that you can use the bulbs to turn on or off. I also have Amazon Alexa and via the hue skill, I can turn light on or off by my voice, or set up automated events via the app.

Good design and is easy to link the lamp and dimmer. It's more complicated linking the lamp to your Hue Bridge though and if you don't have Android (like me) - it's quite a task (hence the 4 stars). I use Winhue on my PC to control all the bulbs (4 at present) which is a free download from GNU. I also needed to download an additional program - Lampfinder to make them recognisable by both dimmer and bridge. Once properly linked they seem to work reliably well. We had a couple of power outages due to a kettle shorting and they came back on OK even though the PC, router and bridge had been ungracefully shut down.I like the Hue system but it's a shame Philips don't directly give support for PCs instead of only smartphones or tablets - some of us prefer a dumb phone that lasts for a week,to a smart phone that's gone flat in a few hours.

Who would have thought one day we would have a light bulb which could be dimmed at the click of a button on a little controller. Not only that the same controller turns the light on and off. An amazing piece of equipment which just worked from the minute it was fitted in the lamp and the little tab pulled out of the controller to engage the battery. The light itself seems much brighter than a normal 60 watt bulb but of course you can set the brightness at whatever level you want. I read another review which stated that once the light was switched off it lost its settings and resumed at full brightness. Not so with mine as it remembers where it was when it's turned off and resumes at the same brightness level.I have no idea how it all works with the hue hubs etc. but fir a single lamp I can't think of a better arrangement.
