My wife tried these and was very impressed, although she felt there were a few minor issues which could easily have been avoided (and should have been for a premium item like this).“These straighteners heat up quickly as described and are not too heavy. The problem with some straighteners is the weight - you need to hold them up for quite a while when using them, and if they are too heavy they can make your arm ache. These were fine for me. They were very easy to keep closed, as the mechanism was not too stiff and they glided over my hair producing the effect that I was hoping for.In the bumph there is a little chart that suggests the best temperature for your type of hair, which is useful, and I stuck to that. The result was shiny and straight hair that did not feel dried out at all, and it lasted all day. All I had to do the next day was a couple of minutes touch-up, and it was back to how it had been on the previous day.The plates are rather narrow and short; the shortness is a slight issue with me, as it took a little bit longer as I had to use it on narrower sections of my hair but it was not really a big problem. The colour of the plates is champagne, not a colour I have ever encountered in straighteners before, and the actual tongs are ivory coloured. This actually complements my bedroom décor, so that's a plus. (Black straighteners can look rather obvious sitting on a dressing table, but these blend in more.) The length of the cord is very good, plenty to allow you to move it around your head without having to move closer to the socket. There is also a hanging loop attached to the cord; however, it is not very generous at all, so you may have some difficulty hanging it on anything but a small narrow hook. The on/off switch is on the side of the appliance, but it is very small with a definite click when you depress the button. The moisture protect button is next to that, another audible click, and the heat level in a bit further along, a + and - sign which is very clear. They too click when used. There is a small display panel on the top which shows which temperature you have chosenThere is another button underneath the tongs which is the closing lock; this is useful for keeping the whole thing closed when it is stored away. The lock is very effective, so there is no worry about the tongs springing open unexpectedly. One thing I am dubious about is the 60 minute automatic cut off in case you forget to turn it off. This seems to be rather excessive. I would prefer to have a shorter time and have to turn it back on again, rather than have it sitting somewhere for up to an hour still hot.The straighteners come with a black felt-like pouch for storage when not in use; you can adjust its width by using the velcro strap. I am not sure how long this pouch would last, and it is not suitable for laying your tongs on whilst not in use. You will need a heatproof mat for that.”NB - this is for use only on dry hair.”

I have very thick and unruly red hair which always looks a little wild and in need of some taming; these straighteners have achieved this very easily. They are quite attractive ionic straighteners with their white outer and champagne coloured plates making a very welcome change from the usual black colour. They heat up to 150°C within just 15 seconds making them ready for use almost immediately and they are easy and comfortable to use even when used blindly behind your own head. I especially like the 2cm cool tip to each end which allows for 2-handed use with no risk of burns. The swivel power cable is generous at 2 metres so there's no need to sit beside a plug and there's a hanging loop for when not in use plus a lined felt storage bag, with a cable-tidy feature on the reverse, and is ideal for traveling. At 9cm x 2.5cm, the floating ceramic plates are shorter than in other straighteners I've used so smaller sections of hair are inserted at a time for use at 150°, 175° or 200°C. These are lower temperatures than I normally use yet they produce matching, if not better, results and I'm sure the lower temperature is better for my hair. The other feature where they excel is in the moisture protection which helps prevent hair feeling dry or brittle, especially around the ends, leading to split ends. Immediately following use, there is no feeling of dryness and, if anything, my hair felt moisturised and glossy - a little like the feeling of using curling tongs with steam several decades ago. I have confidence in these and am very much happier to use them daily without worrying they are damaging my hair. They're not the cheapest straighteners but I'd be happy to pay a little extra for such a premium product with this moisture protect feature, because it works.(Before and after photos are taken 3 minutes apart.)

The Philips Moisture Protect Hair Straightener – HP8372/03 is a top spec, set of hair straightening tongs. This set have sensors in them that constantly monitors and adjusts the temperature of the plates. The amazing thing is that it does this at an amazing 30 times a second and it adjusts if not instantaneously pretty darn close. The result is a super safe hair straightening tool.Added to this is the device punches out negative ion which gives you frizz-free hair. The set heats up in an equally amazing time of 15 seconds.Add to this the floating ceramic plates that move to adjust the pressure on your hair and you have an almost perfect set of hair straighteners. But there is a cost. The set are,at the time of writing, well over £100.The high cost is the price you have to pay for the simply top spec features. The high cost will come down as the competition gets its act into gear.(Watch out for the slew of cheap Chinese copies in about two years)The cable is a generous 2 metres long and you get a heat mat to protect your surfaces.Safety wise it hits all the specs as you would expect from a top brand like Phillips and there is an automatic shut off after an hours (60 minutes) use, So if you leave it on it switches itself off.The results are hair that is more likely to retain its moisture and therefore look better. If you can afford this device this is the one to get.If not wait for the others to catch up.Recommended.

When purchasing straighteners you have a wide variety to choose from that range vastly in price. The ‘Philips MoistureProtect Hair Straightener’ actually sits in the higher end, but although they are expensive, there are far more costly straighteners out there. For the price you do get the higher end quality would expect. Little touches like the way it constantly moderates the heat, or the ceramic plates means that you get a faster, better straightener. The ability to get on with things is enough to make your hair keep the moisture in. I also like the fact that they heated up so quickly. By the time you switch them on and get ready, they are heated. The safety feature that switches them off automatically after an hour of none use is also great for peace of mind. No more, did I turn them off half way down the M6, but 20 minutes would have been long enough. The plates themselves are a little smaller than some and can mean it adds a few more pulls when you are straitening, but they are efficient enough that this is not a large issue. The buttons are also quite small, but you can search for them by feel if you don’t have your glasses. Overall, these are a very good set of straighteners that don’t quite rival the big name in the market, but are almost as good.

My better half tried these out and was absolutely thrilled with them. Yes the come at a premium price, but that's because they are a premium item. In the first instance they have a look that simply oozes quality. They feel sturdy in the hand but are crucially not too heavy so you won't start getting aches and pains and cramps in your hands from using them. They heat up in seconds and although it all sounded like a load of mumbo jumbo the floating ceramic plates do actually feel like they are floating, constantly adjusting the pressure to make sure that you're getting protection. The three temperature settings offer flexibility and even on the lowest setting there are great results.Throw in a 2m cable (so no having to pull a chair over to the wall to sit facing the corner to use these)and the usual safety features (although having a 60m automatic shut off seems as if it could be a lot shorter and still be practible) and you have a top of the range piece of kit that is superb at it's job. And well worth those extra pounds.

I really like the look of this straightener - it would be a great present for someone who uses one regularly. There are 3 different heat settings depending on your hair type. My hair is quite wavy and thick so I needed the highest setting, as recommended in the instructions. It's easy to see from the display when the desired temperature is reached. Took a few goes with the plates to get hair completely straight - a GHD works faster- and thick hair can only be done in small sections. The straightener made a crackling noise the entire time it was on, slightly annoying but possibly just due to the heat of the plates. Comes with a case to store it in including the cord and plug,or rest it on while in use and during cool down. The straightener can be locked in a closed position so it's easy to store and travel with. Used other Phillips electrical products in the past and found it to be a good reliable brand, this didn't disappoint.

My daughter has natural waves and curls in her hair which most girls would love to have, but typically all her friends have straight hair so she wants straight hair. These straighteners from Philips have a premium feel about them, they look fantastic and the box and packaging gives you everything you need for quick out of the box straightening. The box contains the straighteners with a generous 2 metre cord, a heat mat that also doubles up as a storage pouch and a warranty card.In use they are light weight, easy to handle and heat up super-fast . The bit you can’t see is they constantly monitor and adjust the temperature, protecting your hair.It also puts out negative ion’s which eliminate static and keeps hair shiny and smooth. These have been a real hit with my daughter the white and rose gold styling has gone down really well and the straightening results she has been more than happy with.

I've tried quite a few hair straighteners & this has to be the best one I've tried so far mainly due to it not making my hair "poker" straight but a more natural straight which looks more appealing. I find that poker straight look unnatural & even Chinese & oriental hair isn't like that.Anyhow, the things I noticed about these straightened:-super sleek look (albeit pink! :(but it's a champagne pink so it's ok ;)-superfast heating time (about 30 seconds for 175 degrees). Slightly more/less for 170/200.Note: Instructions recommends 170 got thon hair, 175 medium & 200 coarse or thick hair-moistureprotect: really doesn't get hair dry. Noticed a big difference.Plus you can turn moistureprotect off if you like.-light & easy to handle-very simple to operate-reliable reputable brand

My daughter, who has very thick long hair has been using these, and has been really pleased with the results. They heat up very quickly indeed (15 seconds to reach 150 C), and have done a really good job on her hair -- and although these straighteners are fairly pricy, she's had more expensive ones that haven't done as good a job. The only small moan she had was that the plates are a bit short, but as they still seem to be very effective, she's found that these haven't really affected the speed of straightening at all. If my daughter is pleased, then so am I. Four stars.

These are great hair straighteners that are well worth the premium price. The instruction are good and give a guide as to what temp to start on depending on hair type etc. They do heat up quickly and work great, I can only presume that they are doing what they are supposed to and adjusting the temperature as you go along, they defiantly leave your hair feeling less dry than some other straighteners. They are also not heavy and easy to use.

These hair straighteners are designed to reduce the damage that that treatments can do to you hair. This means that the temperature is lower than some of the market leaders and the claim to keep moisture in the air an to dispense ions. They have a nice long lead which is good for styling. I like the weight and relative slimness of the plates which seems to help styling though the sections of hair needs to be smaller.

My partner really likes these hair straighteners and the ionic conditioning seems to be doing something as the slightly cooler temperature works very well with distangling her hair. The lead is a decent length as well and she quite likes the gold design. She recommends.

I bought these only a week ago. I really like them. I've purchased with the intention of moving away from over proced GHD products. These are just as good. These are just as hot, and have several heat settings. Glide through my hair and a fraction of the GHD price tag.
