Well you can't do better than Avent bottles in my experience of trying all the brands. The plastic teats you get are superior and last longer than other brands even in the dishwasher. The bottles also hold their shape and markings well with minimal discoloration. They don't scratch as much as other bottles therefore presumably less chance of harbouring bacteria. They are easy to clean and not too fiddly to assemble. These are just the bottles, neck ring, teats and lids. These aren't the ones with the anti leak rings you put inside. Although I always lost the anti leak rings anyway.I always use a microwaveable steriliser after dishwashing bottles and these fit well compared to taller bottles.I wouldn't persevere longwith the no 1 teats on the 4oz bottles though as the flow is too slow. Go straight to no 2 if your baby is getting frustrated. The numbers are helpfully on the teats. In the top of the box on a plastic layer you also get a dummy and bottle brush. I've never bothered with bottle brushes as a rinse out of the bottle after use and a dishwash gets everything off in my experience and I am not sure about brush hygiene as those bristles can catch dirt in. And who has the time to sterilise/clean more stuff with a newborn around. As for colic the only thing that helped with my colicky baby was infacol before EVERY feed. Accidentally miss a dose and then all hell broke lose. If you have an excessively crying baby, it is so difficult. Ask for lots of help and perhaps try the Babymoov Cosysleep.Even if you exclusively breastfeed these bottles are helpful for a little cooled boiled water especially in hot weather. And in an emergency it's best to have a set in and some premixed milk cartons in case mum is indisposed. Trust me you don't want to be panicking at 3am in the morning for this stuff. As for dummies. I never used them with my children and i'm a firm believer they delay speech and language and affect your babies voice into the toddler years (childminder of many) and damage teeth so I can't really comment on the one included. Plus all that extra sterilising every time they hit the deck or buying new ones to replace lost ones meh. And those parents who clean them in their own mouth bleurgghh.

My baby has always used the Classic range since he was about 4 weeks old and they have worked extremely well for us, especially as he has problems with colic and found latching to the breast very hard. Maybe this was partly because he arrived early and was very small, but as soon as we switched to formula feeding with these bottles, he made rapid progress towards gaining weight because he was feeding longer and more effectively, and was a far more content baby. This set is the new and improved version of the old Classic bottle, that version had little plastic rings with a rubberised blue coating that you inserted into the cap of the bottle to make the anti-colic system work and to ensure that the teat was sealed perfectly against the bottle. It was slightly fiddly to do and if you over-tightened the cap it stopped the airflex valve from working. Also, there were more separate parts to put in the steriliser and more parts to get lost in with the rest of the washing up.The Classic+ (Plus) system doesn't need those little plastic rings anymore because the teat has been re-designed. It still fits the old bottles and caps just fine (I've been using the new style stage-3 teats for babies 3 months+ with my old bottles and caps with no problems).Having less parts is definitely handy, especially when you're tired and trying to keep everything sterile as you make the bottle up.I use the bottle brush all the time so the bottles don't get scratched and to make sure they are completely clean inside ( the narrow end fits perfectly into the tip of the teat to clean there, which is a really hard place to clean effectively otherwise) and my son uses the dummy for comfort at bedtime even now at just over 6 months.I ended up buying 4 of the Classic sets in total, because we have them in use at my house, at Nanas house and at Granny & Grandads house (and a steriliser and bottle warmer at each house too) because we go and stay every week for a few days and it made it so much easier than lugging all the equipment from place to place each time.Definitely good value when they are on offer, and easy to pass on to a friend or family member when they have a baby, so 5 stars.

Having tried both Tommee Tippee closer to nature and these bottles we’ve long since learnt that the Avent bottles are way superior in many ways. The robustness of these bottles in our view is way ahead of the Tommee Tippee that after only a few uses and sterilizations showed signs of clouding of the bottles and teats.A number of the tommee tippees horrifyingly developed mould after only a short period of storage, where the smaller Avent that we no longer use have been stored and at last time of looking had no sign of any unwelcome growthsAnother annoyance of the Tommee Tippee was the reassembly of the teat and top after washing or sterilization. The Tommee Tippee pull straight through all to easily and on a number of occasions we found milk leaking out the top due to them not seating properly inside the top. The Avents have no such problem with a good size lip that firmly sits inside the top and presses against the the anti leak rings. The Avent bottles feel solid with a good firm robustness to all of the bottle and a reassuring bounce in the teats that show they will withstand most rigors of use by the most over eager teething little one.Our stack has gone through endless rounds of steam sterilization with only one occasion of any deformation which occurred after the bottles were removed from the sterilizer and pressure was placed on the side of one bottle causing a slight warp but I would expect that type of behaviour with any bottle given the heat of a steamer. We swear by these bottles and will be sticking with them for our little one and any further that may follow.

As the first option for a brand new parent, these are great bottles. The bottle cleaner makes them easy to clean - we use a cold sterilizer for 30 minutes, but also boiling them has worked fine too, with no problems. The teats are great, the flow for the larger bottles is a little fast, but nothing drastic. The seals on the bottles are fine for when in use, but leave them in a bag with milk in them already can give a tiny bit of leakage with particularly vigorous movement; for this the extra anti-leak seals are probably worth it. They're all adaptable for the extra tops for when the baby grows or a breast pump. Overall, i'd recommend getting these if you're deciding between bottles. It's absolutely fantastic how informative the advertising is,with the soother and smaller bottles with newborn teats giving the 0-3 month age range. However the information leaflet inside could be improved - certain information like the exact model numbers of the teats if wanting to buy replacements is hard to find, and also specifics on the teat usage isn't available. However to credit Philips as a company, this is great as it allows other relatives who might not be so baby-savvy but are looking after the child to use the product properly and safely, if they are buying as spares. Philips will replace any product that does go wrong, and i'd recommend registering these bottles if you buy them, as their customer service is fantastic.

I have always thought that Avent make the best bottles for babies and, over the years, I have tried virtually every kind. This newborn starter set includes 2 260ml/9oz bottles for 1m+, 2 125ml/4oz bottles for newborns, one bottle brush and a dummy. So, what makes Avent bottles worth buying? Firstly, the shape is comfortable to hold and, let’s be honest, you are going to spend hours and hours feeding your newborn in the months after your baby arrives and may as well be comfortable doing so. You need the bottles you use to be stable, and for the teat to pull through the neck of the bottle and not dribble milk or come loose and these work perfectly. There is nothing more annoying that pulling through a flimsy teat and find it pulls out of the top of the bottle, or doesn’t lie flat and allows milk to leak. The lids of these bottles also fit snugly and stop leaking. Lastly, the teats themselves are well shaped to help prevent colic. Make sure the teat is full before allowing baby to take the bottle and you should stop air being sucked in. So, these are easy to clean, with wide necks so you can brush and clean properly, they fit together snugly, do not leak and are undoubtedly the best baby bottles I have used. This set would make a useful present for any new parents as you can never have enough baby bottles and these are excellent quality.

Anyone who has experienced trying to comfort a baby in the grip of a colic attack will remember the feeling of utter helplessness and heartbreak of being unable to relieve the painful cramps. It’s distressing for the baby and upsetting for the adults. Philips has trialled these Avent bottles with 2,000 testers, who reported less cases of colic when using them compared to conventional ones. The valve on the teat lets air into the bottle, but not into the baby’s tummy - this has to be a good thing. The pack contains 2 x 260ml (9oz) bottles, 2 bottles x 125ml (4oz) for newborns, one dummy with cap and a soft-bristled bottlebrush. There are only four parts to each bottle - the bottle itself, the bottle/teat ring, the teat and the top – so it’s very quick and easy to assemble. I could actually feel the quality of the material in the teats compared to some others I’ve used. The brush is well designed to reach all components of the bottle to ensure that no milky residue is missed when cleaning it.We’ve used Avent bottles before and haven’t bothered with other brands since. The bottles are comfortable to hold, retain their sheen after prolonged use and the teats are very good. Another reason why I like - and would recommend - this newborn starter set is that it is made by Philips, which is a brand I trust.

The Avent products have been around for over thirty years now, the first babies to use them now old enough to have babies of their own. The Avent design has been much copied - the wide necked bottles are much easier to clean that the old style tall narrow bottles. This set comes complete with four Avent bottles and a sturdy bottle cleaning brush - as shown in illustrations. Two of the bottles hold up to 4 fluid ounces /125ml - suitable for newborns and for small drinks of boiled water between feeds. The other two bottles hold a full 9 fluid ounces /260 ml, suitable for a full feed when babies are ready to make the change from breast to bottles if needed.Graduations are clearly marked - when babies are fully weaned these bottles make a useful addition to the kitchen for the accurate measuring of small amounts of liquid in recipes. There is also an Avent silicone soother, made in unobtrusive transparent silicone and suitable from new born. The brush makes it easy to clean the bottle, which is designed with no awkward places for milk residues to gather.A great gift for a new parent - even where breast feeding is successful the need for an unexpected bottle can arise, and this compact, easy to store set can be popped into the cupboard and quickly put into use if needed.

In the quest to find the perfect bottle for our daughter, we have tried most brands going. From all the big names, to the supermarkets own brands. We have always preferred Avent. This kit include:2 large 260ml bottles2 small 125ml bottles1 bottle brush1 dummyThe bottles are durable, easy to clean, with measurements marked clearly on the side. The teats are soft but firm (with other brands some have been too bendy and we have had trouble getting them into our baby's mouth). The older Avent bottles we have, have more parts to them. This includes a metal ring that fits on top of the bottle neck. I'm glad to see in this kit they have done away with them. Not much to say about the dummy. It's a dummy, but a nice little bonus to the pack. The bottle brush is fairly standard, the end of the handle has ridges so that you can clean the tests with it.Would have liked more of the bigger bottles. I really like the smaller ones, but as soon as baby's intake increases past 4 fl oz they are rendered obsolete (unless you choose to split the feed between the two bottles).Overall a nice pack. The only downside with the Avent brand is that they can be pricey.Currently at writing this review Amazon are selling this kit at £13.53 (usual price is £28 which is just too much).

Buying a bottle for your new baby should be simple, but like anything to do with teeny weenies, this is just not the case. There are several companies out there and you may want to think about choosing the one you like the best as your baby may become fussy about the bottle they use. Therefore, it is savvy business for the likes of Philips Avent to create a starter pack that covers your initial needs and potentially gets your baby hooked on their products. Thankfully, this is not a bad thing as the ‘Philips Avent Classic+ Newborn Starter Set’ is a great kit that opens the door for a range of products that work well.In this pack you get a couple of bottles suitable for new-borns,plus a couple of bigger bottles for when they are slightly older and also a dummy and cleaning brush. The bottles have specially designed teats that help to prevent colic. The entire range is easy to clean and of a high quality, you certainly feel safe allowing your baby to use it. As this is a starter pack you may need to supplement it with an extra bottle or two, this is not a case of one and out. However, at the price this is good value that covers most of the basics.

If you weren't aware that Phillips make nearly everything, and tend to do it all quite well, here's some baby bottles with features you may not even know existed. The pack is a set of 2 small and 2 larger bottles, a dummy, and a cleaning brush. They're dishwasher safe, but as they're intended mostly for infants you'll want to sterilise them rather than rely on the dishwasher anyway until your child is old enough not to need that anymore. Whether or not the anti-colic valve genuinely does reduce colic is probably an idiosyncratic thing from child to child, but the one-way air inlet valve is yet another good idea; as the contents of the bottle are sucked out, the valve allows air in to equalise the pressure inside, while the bottle teats themselves regulate the flow into the child's mouth.Everything's made with durable plastics, and the bottle caps etc. are interchangeable with some other Phillips products, like their sippy cups, which is a nice addition too - you can use them for older kids, and keep a supply of clean bottles ready to go.

I've always used Avent bottles as past experiences have shown them to be far superior to other brands. The important feature is the valve built into the base of the teat which allows air to flow into the bottle as the baby sucks, thereby re-balancing the pressure so that you don't get a vacuum build up inside. It's been shown that this vacuum build up in bottles is what causes babies to suck harder and take in air leading to colic. We've definitely had less of a problem with colic since we switched to Avent bottles. This box set comes with two sizes of bottles and a choice of two teats, four in total. The bottles are simple and easy to assemble and wash. I don't like using brushes, one is provided in the box, because I worry about the harbouring germs, and I also didn't need the soother supplied as I don't agree with them, but they're there as a bonus for those who might appreciate them. Bottles wash well and last well too, without surface scratching or the markings fading.

I can confirm that as with other Philips Avent products and the last bottle set we own, once again this is a high quality product from Philips and especially good value if you manage to purchase it at it's current under £20 price tag.The newborn starter set consists of two 125ml bottles, two 260ml bottles, a soother and a bottle brush and is a lovely little starter set and as it's nicely boxed would make a lovely gift for an expectant mum. The bottle's have both ml and fluid oz measurements. The bottles also have an anti colic valve system on the teat to help reduce the chance of your little one becoming colicky. As with other Philips bottles they are really easy to disassemble and assemble with the bottle part, teat ring, teat and lid.The teats are BPA free and the two 125ml bottles come with newborn size 1 teats and the larger 250ml bottles come with size 2 1month plus teats..All in all a lovely little set which would also make a great present for an expectant mum.

Love this shape bottle the best, really good quality that doesn't leak and seem easy to hold than the fatter shaped bottles. The brush is lovely and has a teat cleaner at the end of the blue handle as well as the brush that seems to get into every nook and crevice when cleaning the bottles. The silicon is soft but firm and as anti colic holes in to allow air into the bottle and not the baby's stomach. The dummy/soother is soft enough for a newborn if they want a soother from early on. The colours are neutral enough for boy or girl. With 2 small bottles (125ml) and 2 bigger bottles (260ml) a bottle brush to clean them and a silicon clear soother this makes it a perfect gift for a new baby or a mum to be.I like that all Advent bottle tops are interchangeable, like the sippy cup tops fit these bottles and vice versa. Good price for under £15 at the moment. Also like that these do not leak like some I have bought do.

We used Avent bottles with our first baby and were very happy with these, so when these became available, we didn't hesitate to get them for our second baby. This time around they seem to be a bit less hassle free, since they have removed the anti-leaking rings from the design. We were a bit worried at first, but after using them, there is no leakage whatsoever. As for the anti-colic feature, I can't either confirm or deny it works, as our baby doesn't have that problem. I'd like to add that with our first baby we also bought some anti-colic bottles from Tommee Tippies, but they had so many parts to clean and sterilise that we didn't bother at the end with those. This pack includes four bottles,2 x 4oz and 2 x 9oz, which seems the perfect amount if you are combining breastfeeding with formula. At the time of writing this review, this set is retailing at £13.50, hence the 'Amazing value for money' headline.

Let me start off by saying that my son is older than a newborn at nearly 8 months old. He is also mostly breastfed BUT he does have one bottle every day every evening just before bed.New bottles come in very handy, I seem to always lose them so when I see them come up on my Vine list I try to always grab them because they are always needed. The fact that in the future you can attach the bigger drinking cup type teats is an excellent feature and will certainly help not having the cost of having to buy lots of extra cups etc once my son is a little bigger. My son is a little fussy with bottles but am very pleased he latched onto these from the start and devoured 5 oz of milk happily just beforebed.Avent is an excellent make and to be honest you can't go wrong with it as they are always an reasonable price and very good quality products. They are always a welcome addition to my household
