I bought this along with the tug a jug for my 11 month old, toy destructive staffie/springer cross. She eviscerates a soft toy in less than an hour. She really liked this toy and would play with it using her paws, football fashion, nose, head and mouth to move it around the floor for ages, getting her food out of it. It was entertaining to watch but she tired of it after a while and now only occasionally plays with it. I think she does get easily bored of things so I have to keep her well motivated by ringing the changes with toys.Other reviewers had trouble twisting the two parts together, it is a bit tricky but if you line the two halves up together then twist backwards,it clicks into place and you can twist it shut. I had the problem of it twisting open while she played with it and kept having to screw it back together. As with the tug a jug, it is a quality product made from durable components and well constructed, virtually indestructible. Unlike other toys that release food, there are no parts that a dog can chew off and the food just fall out. The soft rubber mesh type pattern around the outside protects flooring and furniture from overenthusiastic play and does make a good noise on hard flooring, adding to the excitement!

Already bought our dog the Buddy that has a rope hanging out of it in the shape of a bottle which he loves but he worked out how to get the maximum amount of treats out very quickly and decided to get him this for Christmas. He loves this just as much as the other Buddy but this one takes a bit more effort to get the treats out of because of its egg shape which means that it does not roll straight and the treats generally do not fall straight out when pushed along the ground. Treats come out of both of the ends and the plastic teeth inside can be trimmed if the treats it dispenses are quite large but we didn't have to do this as we put a portion of his food in for him to work at while we are at work.He can just about pick it up,he is a large GSD,but hasn't broken it as the plastic parts of the toy are well covered with a rubber cage . A bit fiddly to do back up once you have put food inside and takes a while to get it into the groove where you can do it back up but apart from that this is a worthwhile toy to keep him equally amused and frustrated to the point where he knocks it against my legs as he knows I will kick it away and as I do treats come spilling out, sly!

I ordered the large size. I had to cut away most of the little plastic "teeth" which surround the two holes because my dog is fed cold pressed food which is larger than normal kibble. He loves rolling it about and bashing it with his feet to get his food out, he does expect me to help too so we end up with a game of doggie football! I do have a negative point though. After he has had it a few minutes it comes undone and all the contents fall out. There is no way of stopping this as the two halves screw together but there is no locking mechanism. I did try sticking on a piece of sticky tape but he just pulls it off! This means I have to watch him while he has it and keep tightening it up.Make sure you order one large enough not to fit into your dogs mouth, it is made of hard plastic and would be dangerous to the dogs mouth if he bit into it. For this reason I never leave him alone whilst he has it or leave it around after he has finished with it but take it away, wash it and leave it open to dry. It does keep him amused though while he has it and would slow down a dog who gobbles down his food quickly from doing so.

My Husky loves this.At 1st she was too lazy to figure out how to do it, because quite frankly she is a pampered princess and doesnt really have to work for her food except to sit and say please. This is a godsend if im honest, i feed her a combination of wet/dry food that when combined in the bowl she would eat the wet and leave the dry and i was throwing it away every day.Strangely she will eat her dry out of this in the same way she eats it out of her kong.I find this is a little more interesting and its great for mental stimulation because they have to figure it out.I did cut the prongs off quite a lot but then her kibble is big, i like the fact it is adaptable.I dont like the way it threads together,if you are not careful you will end up with it cross threaded and then it will be useless, it takes me a good 2 minutes sometimes to put it back so i figured out the best place to start putting them together and marked top and bottom points with a marker pen and now i can do it in less than 10 seconds. Its also very hygenic because you can wash it and sterilise it daily.Would buy again.

Very good from point of view of difficulty and therefore time that dog spends getting out the kibble. You can snip off plastic prongs at openings to adjust rate at which kibble is dispensed. Warning do so a very little at a time as if you overdo it, its cut and you can't replace it. May not be the best 'first' kibble dispenser, our lab had a few others and as a result had more perseverance when kibble didn't come out with every movement. Shape is oval and gives unpredictable movement which dog seems to enjoy. The two big downsides to the product are that it is not made with enough thread for screwing it securely shut and when the dog bashes it around it opens and the dog just gobbles up the contents defeating the entire point of it.However this is simply overcome with a bit of sellotape - though I do think this is something the manufacturers should sort out.It is very noisy and hard on surfaces. Absolutely fine if you live in a detached house and have tiled floors - we do. I would not recommend it for apartment dwellers - unlike you very much dislike your neighbours - or for timber floors.

I bought this for my foster lab who basically hovers up her food in seconds.... It's only been a few days but I have to say that even though she has managed to unscrew the toy (I check on her progress & depending, screw it tightly in place once again), this extends her feeding time to approximately an hour! She is in desperate need of losing weight & her ultimate objective in life is to sniff out & eat anything that's going. Not all the food falls out & she has spent more hours trying her best to get those last pieces of food. For Megan, it's perfect & it is also becoming a handy tool to train her to calm down every feeding time. She can't have it until she has sat & waited, doesn't stop her stealing picnicker's sausages & bacon in the park! It's easy to clean & you can adjust it to suit whatever treats/food you decide to fill it with. What a fantastic way to feed your dog, if it doesn't tear it to bits of course! Meg wouldn't do that, but everydog is different....

I have bought 3 of these now, they come in two sizes. I have ordered the large each time, firstly for one of my dogs as she carries alot of weight despite dieting and prefers to loll around on the sofa than move around. This toy encourages the dog to move around (can be fairly noisy on wood floors) and push and pull and kick the toy around for the kibble to come out. This is the first time since I adopted my dog that she has shown any interest in a toy and it keeps her on the move, interacting with the toy to get her reward. As this was such a hit I ordered more for other rescue dogs. the container unscrews and you must ensure it is tightly screwed back on as some enthusiastic bashing causedit to open twice much to the delight of my dog.I don't feed my own dogs dry food so after much consideration I ordered Fat Dog Slim and put a handful in, then I reduce her raw food accordingly. the internal rubbery prongs can be snipped to allow for different kibble sizes

This is quite a robust dispenser and is standing up well to my labrador and collie. There are, however two things that mean I do not give it 5 stars:1) because you screw and unscrew the device at the middle, it means if my dogs paw it enough with force around the middle section they can actually unscrew it. It would have been a better design to have the screw further up the ball, to prevent this issue, or a money box style stoper you could open to get the treats in; and,2) you have to cut the teeth at each end yourself with scissors.Whilst these are negatives, there are some advantages:1) it unscrews so you can properly wash it, unlike some other dispensers; and,2) because there is an opening at both ends, you could cut the teeth to different lengths, enabling two sizes of treats to be used.Overall, it's worth the money and robust enough to stand up to two medium-large dogs.

***Not dishwasher safe despite the label saying so (the rubber edges melt and the screw deforms)*****My 18mth Golden retriever loves this, he has his breakfast in it every morning and loves pouncing on it and chasing it around the kitchen. It is a little noisy (on laminate flooring) but nothing unbearable. The TV is often able to drown it out easily!Being able to cut the rubber prongs at the ends to allow for larger kibble is great, we use Royal Canin Golden Retriever Adult and they are quite large, but this allows them to fall out appropriately when you cut the prongs off completely (you need to use a craft knife or similar, scissors won't do the job).It holds about 200g kibble comfortably and my puppy has it empty within 10 minutes (as opposed to 30 seconds if it was in his slow feeder bowl!)

I am a dog trainer and one of the things I recommend to all my clients is to feed their dog in a toy. My own dog has always had her meals in toys, but this is the best one I found so far. I have a very smart little sheltie, and this one is the only one that is difficult enough to give her a good work out. She actually pants by the time she is finished eating! I used the Omega paw treat ball for a long time, wich was good but much easier, but I trhew it away after reading on the possible toxicity of vinyl. Premier Petsafe is one of the only companies that certifies that the materials they use are non-toxic. Love it! Also, the great thing that differenciates this toy from the others is that it is super easy to clean!

Just thought i should post a review to counter all those that say it comes apart too easily. The first time we used it it did come apart. You just need to tighten a little bit more when you feel resistance. Then you will feel it bind and it will not open. We have never had it come apart since and we have a Vizsla puppy. We used the small one for 2 months and have now moved on to the big one. Our puppy loves it, wags her tail throughout and is completely engaged. For a young puppy, it really helps her calm down in the morning. 15 minutes with the food ball and then she settles down for a rest. And it gives you a bit or respite from really young puppies.I throughly recommend it.

Great treat dispenser. Egg shape makes it more difficult for dogs than ball shape. They need to get it standing on its end for treat to fall out.In fact it frustrated my little cavalier so much that she mostly just barked at it.Passed it over to my daughter for her super active pointer puppy - he loves it.It can easily hold a full kibble meal - but my dog behaved as though she hadn't yet had her dinner when I fed her meal using this toy. I think she needs her usual routine and dish for it to register that she's had her meal.

Darcy loves this, i can't believe its still alive as every other toy she has been given has either been eaten or ripped to shreds, we have a box of scrap remains that she keeps and still has a suckles on. However this she spends hours with but worked out if she takes it up stairs and drops it down them it does sometimes open and spills the goodies. I think that's down to me not tightening it up properly to be honest but she still gives it a go.I'd defo buy anther one if she does kill it!

One of my miniature schnauzers loves this kind of thing, and will spend hours rolling them around to get the treats out of it. This is a very good size and I can see how it would work if you were to use it for a full meal. However, my only complaint is that it tends to unscrew itself quite quickly which means all the food inside ends up in a heap on the floor and is gobbled up in one go, which defeats the object. Shame, but I will persevere.

So we couldnt find a toy that 1. could keep our pup entertained and 2. that lasted longer than 10 minutes. This does both! With the option to select different sized treats and make it hard or easy for the treats to exit the toy it was one of THE most easiest toys for our staff to get on with. Not only does it keep her entertained for a good hour but she can't break into it!!10/10Good value, durable and all around quality!
