I have been a longtime fan of standard Pentel Energel pens, and so instead of continuing to buy more and throw them away when they ran out of ink, I decided to purchase a pen that I could reuse and would last a while. The Sterling pen is made entirely of metal, and as such feels quite solid and substantial in the hand. The grip is not uncomfortable, and as with all Pentel Energel pens, the ink and tip are fantastically smooth, gliding easily over paper and making writing a pleasure. The ink dries fairly quickly, almost as quickly as a biro, but left handed people may still have difficulties. There are a couple of very minor annoyances with the pen, but these can be largely ignored. The first of these is the label that comes with the pen leaves some residue when removed, but this can be removed with some rubbing alcohol or just with some warm water and a bit of persistance. The other is that if you write with a bit of pressure, the tip of the pen can tend to rattle slightly. The pen clip and clicking mechanism don't feel quite as solid as a Parker Jotter, but they are close. The refills are cheaper than the Parker equivalent, but the pen itself is slightly more expensive at the time of review. I believe this trade off is worth it, however, as I believe both pens will last a long time, but I have a personal preference for the Pentel ink.Overall an excellent pen, one of the best I have used at this price.

I really like this pen. It is comfortable to hold, for me the barrel is neither too big nor too small, and has engraving/maching to make it non-slip. I find it very comfortable to use. The ink flows smoothly and evenly, dries quickly and looks neat and tidy on paper. I also like that this pen is retractable rather than needing a cap (which is easily lost). These factors make these pens better than any others (for me).I also like a pen that is not disposable, without being so expensive that I am afraid to lose it. It is made of metal and looks stylish as well as being functional.I like these so much I have bought 2 extra pens and a supply of black, blue and red refills. So I now have 3 pens.I have marked the end of the retract button with nail varnish in the appropriate colour so that I can easily and quickly find the pen/colour that I want. The cost of the pens and the refills is very reasonable, I am very pleased. I definitely recommend these.

Great pen, really nice looking and smooth. It looks quite pricey just for a pen, but if you buy the 12 pack of refills along with it, it'll definitely cheaper in the long run.A few minor complaints is that it can feel quite heavy for a pen, but you can easily get used to it after using it for a day for two. They only supply you with one cartridge, but they still last a good while, so it's not all bad. It's been a month since I bought it, and I still haven't used up the cartridge yet, with just a small amount left.(if anyone wants an idea of how much I use it, I'm an A-Level Student, so I write at least 2-4 pages of notes a day)

I've used Pentel's refillable plastic Energel pens for a long time - very good dense black gel ink that flows easily and dries quickly - but I wanted a pen that was a bit more durable and attractive, preferably with a metal body, because the plastic pens were starting to show their age after lots of use. This pen is perfect - metal body, takes same Energel gel ink refills. I'm very happy with it.

It's definitely smarter looking than using the disposable versions but the rattly nib and the cheap click of the retractable mechanism let this otherwise good looking pen down. Having said that, the Energel is my absolute favourite model of gel-pen so I have to give this 5-stars for performance alone. I just would have liked a nice solid nib part and a better quality retractable mechanism.

A good rollerball pen with a slight weight to it, which I liked, making it nice to hold. The only downside is there is a barcode label attached to the barrel. This seems unnecessary for it to be attached on the pen body itself and removing it by scratching it off leaves a sticky residue. This residue can be rubbed off with alcohol but why have it in the first place.

I have used (and lost) many Pentel gel pens over the years and thought that I would go for something more long-term. The pen is a good weight with a good grip and sits nicely in the hand. I use it for all my everyday writing - I am now on my third refill. I hope that we have many more years together, but If I were to lose it I would get another just the same.

Much like the normal emerges pens this takes a standard refil but the quality is exceptional. Good weight and size for normal writing and the click is upgraded too and has a satisfying feel and noise. Would recommend to anyone looking to reduce waste and disposable pens. But a mega refil pack and you’ll save a decent amount in a short time.

Best pen you can buy: I have two of these which I've now had for about 4 years each and they both look as good as the day I bought them. Beautiful writers with a nice heft in the hand and look very stylish. Although you can use the very good Pentel refills you don't have to, refills form several other manufacturers also fit these pens.

I've had pentel energel before, but wanted something that would last longer. This writes in the same way as the other energel pens, which are all great, but feels a lot nicer with the metal. The grip is good, and the entire thing is well machined. Bought refils with it, which are reasonably priced and easy to install.

Just a pen but a nice pen. Nice, shiny, writey peny type thing. Long thin thing. Push buttony thing on one end and the peny bit comes out the other. Push buttony bit again and peny bit disappears. Clicky magic silver stick really. Can also be used to write with if you can master the clicky buttony bit.

Writes very well, ink takes a little while to dry. Wish pen body was not made on India - why not make it on Japan with the refill!Looks nice tho! A better option is the Uniball Jetstream Premier (yes the body is made in China) but the pens is better writer and the ink dries fast being a ballpoint.

As good as I expected. The only improvement could be a little extra weight, but I guess that's just a matter of preference. Its moderately heavier than its plastic counterpart. Anyway - this has brought me back to ballpoints from fountain pens; you can't beat the quick drying and reduced bleed.

Overexcited by a pen! Well I love this little beauty and wish I had bought one years ago. Lovely to use and it goes everywhere with me - would not be without it. I bought a pink one for my wife and she loves hers also. Great buy and hugely recommended.
