We read some reviews before buying this, and found a lot of people complaining about the size of the pigs. Well, we never had the original, and haven't had a problem with the size of these at all.The game has gone down a treat with my kids, aged 8, 6 and 3. Obviously the 3 year old can't count his scores up, so we have to do it for him, and we do have to keep reminding him that he can stop rolling once he's amassed around 30 points before he gets a 'pig out' and loses all his points that round. The premise of the game is pretty simple: you roll the pigs and get points according to how they land. First to 100 wins, but you can change the goal posts if you want to,because we found that sometimes one person can get to 100 with no one else getting a go at all, and at other times, people seemed to roll a 'pig out' on their 2nd roll, which can get pretty frustrating after a few goes where the exact same thing happens. There's lots of different ways the pigs can land, and we've played 8 times (I think) and have seen every possible position (except the impossible 'Making Bacon') and combination.Don't lose the little card that comes with the scorecard though, because you'll forget how many points are earned for each position if you don't play it regularly. There are instructions with the points on too, and they're also on the back of the box, but if your family are like mine, boxes get torn/wet by a spilled drink, and instructions get lost easily.

My 9 yr old absolutely loves this game, his older sister will happily play it will him and I'm sure it could be enjoyed by younger members with extra help as needed.I love that the game is all contained easily in a sturdy plastic holder. The two pigs fit neatly on the top, pencils and scorecards at the bottom and it clicks shut. The scorecard is used in situ giving you a firm surface to rest against. This makes it perfect for popping in handbag for out and about - we've ended up playing it a few times during really long restaurant waits etc. It's a super simple concept well executed, you throw the two small pigs like dice. When they land you check the pictures to see what points you score eg 2 pigs both on sides = 1 point,1 on back and 1 on side = 5 points. Very quickly you learn to recognise what you've scored almost as soon as they land, so the game can become quite fast paced and fun with older kids.At the end scores are tallied and highest number wins. It's a pretty timeless game because of it's simplicity, and because of the wide age range it can span I can see it being used for a good few years. Each game takes 5-10 mins and can easily be interrupted and picked back up because of the written scoring system. For those familiar with Yahtzee, the concept isn't a million miles away, just much more simplistic and based on overall scores rather than aiming to complete all categories.

Great game but it depends on what you are buying for. This is great for little kids who find it difficult to follow rules and usually need the help of an adult. It is ridiculously simple and comes in a great carry case, I love cases/boxes which keep everything in place. There is not a lot to it, you throw the pigs and they land in various positions, and you gain points based on the positions the pigs land in. There is no skill really whatsoever. I remember loving this as a kid because its silly. But apparently other reviewers kids found it boring. But having said that I definitely think its for 7-8 and younger depending on how developed your child is. Unless its an ironic purchade. But for the price,it is a great stocking filler with not much to be lost and is so light and compact it doesnt make much impact to luggage etc if you are trying to keep kids entertained on holiday, even if its a hit or not. Remember to keep the points chart even if you run out of the scoring paper.

I was recommended this by a friend and since purchasing it, I have been absolutely hooked!Pros:-It is the perfect travel game and the one box comes with everything that you could need to play it with.-It would be easy to play whilst in a car or on public transport as all you need is a small hard surface to roll the pigs on, which seem quite similar to dice.-This game is really easy to pick up and play - the instructions are on the scorecard as some of the positions of the pigs and corresponding points can be difficult to remember, but the rules themselves can be picked up in one go!-This is a fun game for nearly anyone of absolutely any age. I have played it with family and friends, and have not yet met a person who does not like playing it!Cons:-The pigs are quite small and could possibly be easy to lose if you're not careful with them, but that is also part and parcel of buying a travel game.

I used to play this game as a child with my grandmother (~25 years ago) so was pleased to see it still exists, and have bought one for my own children. My children still play it at my grandmother's house, so you can definitely say it is durable! The game is very simple. You roll the two pigs and get differing points according to the positions they land in (on their feet, on their snouts etc). You keep rolling and add the points and have to decide when to 'stick'. If they land in certain positions (called pig-out and oinker) you lose all your points, so you need to make a judgement about whether to stick or carry on once you have some points. The winner is the first to 100.This is a great game to encourage small children to add up in multiples of 5 and 10. It's also good as it can be played by both adults and children. It sounds very simple, but is rather addictive.

This is such a simple but excellent and brilliantly fun game. There are two small model pigs which players have to roll and depending on how they land you get different points. The player to reach the set number of points first wins. Almost entirely down to luck of course, unless you are talented at pig rolling! Still incredibly fun and amusing to play. the game itself is compact and easy to carry around making it a perfect game to play at home, in the car or out on your travels on holiday etc. Some of the positions the pigs can fall in seem impossible but they really aren't and when the pigs fall into a rare position it almost feels bad to pick them back up again. Its not a massively educational game but it is fun and added bonus its hard/ practically impossible to cheat so you can fairly test who is better at rolling pigs! Its an excellent price for a good game.

We had this in the cubboard for years and pulled it out when my son and his girlfriend were over.Within minutes of playing it, all of us were in fits of laughter. It's a simple but competitve game, one that the whole family can enjoy! the pigs are small so not suitable for the little ones that put small parts in their mouths without parental guidance, but well worth buying for hours of fun. we now play it everytime the family are over and had 10 of us playing on boxing day when the family visited. It's a game everyone can get into without having to worry about batteries etc. we enjoyed the game so much that we bought the game again (after all these years of having it hidden away in the cubboard)so that my son and his girlfriend could have the game at their house aswell as ours! It made a great christmas present for them.

I have no idea what "thickness" means in this context but I give it 5 stars because I took it to mean sturdy. And the product was sturdy and feels good to handle. My family had a pass the pig game when the children were young. We absolutely loved this game. Unfortunately one of the pigs left our realm, possibly to live the house gnomes (we hope). Ever since I have been looking for a new game. I was so happy when I saw Amazon had Pass the Pigs. I bought a few of these games for the grandchildren. Everyone is happy with them and enjoying these little pigs in our life again. Strict rules have been imposed to prevent the pigs from departing from our realm to live with the gnomes or dust bunnies.I would highly recommend this game to people of all ages.May you all get a leaning jowler when you need it the most.

I'm now 20 years old, and remember very fondly the Christmas afternoons spent on my grandfather's knee playing Pass the Pigs with the rest of my family when I was just two or three years old even. Before I was old enough to calculate the scores or even understand fully, I would be involved in "passing" the pigs. Then, as I grasped the concept I was taught to help add up the scores. As an individual who played the game in my early years I recognise both the fun and educational value of the game. Of course, as a child, you are learning to add up without even realising you're learming! Certainly a benefit, making education fun. It's also a valuable tool in bringing the family together.A perfect Christmas day game, where everyone can get involved.Highly recommended.Ah the days of Pass the Pig...

Loved this game s a child have many fond memories around the dinning table playing this. Suitable for all ages so a perfect family game. very easy to learn so suitable for all, simple yet satisfying. the product is awesome and the game a lot of fun for just two little pigs being thrown around haha. for me the only let down is the packaging. when i was a child the box was slimmer and more stylish with the pigs secure in a tight thin green box. This new packaging is ugly/tacky looking, unnecessarily bulky for a great travel game, plus the pigs are no longer secure in the box once you loose the very flimsy plastic cover for them, that i imagine most people may accidentally through out the first play.perfect family fun game, packaging is what lets it down only so really thats a minor complaint.

Pass the Pigs is a simple game that basically involves throwing two small rubber pigs. The positions in which they land determines the score a player receives. It might sound a little dull, but the game's twist of genius comes in letting players gamble by deciding whether to throw again in order to increase their score, while simultaneously risking losing all their points. The winner is the first person to reach 100 points. It's a very easy game to pick up, and comes in a small plastic case with all the other bits and pieces you need (pencils; scorepad and instructions). It is ideal for taking on holiday, and could be played on a train, in a car, or even on an aeroplane. It's a quick game, usually over in five to ten minutes, and suitable for all ages.

The perfect companion for a rainy day, Pass the Pigs is fun for the whole family. I first played PTP in a McDonalds in the 1980s and we were thrown out for making too much noise. It really is a hoot. Or oink, at least. Before long you'll be celebrating such things as Trotters, Snouters, Razorbacks and the rare but points-smashing Double Leaning Jowler and crying into your score card as you Pig Out for the third time in a row. You'll need a flat, hard surface like a tabletop as the piggies won't fall or stand well in their various and cleverly engineered positions on uneven surfaces or carpet... and the nature of the game means playing in a moving vehicle will be tricky. However, I promise you, this game is great fun, simple and addictive.

This is one of the simplest games to play but also one of the most fun. A must for any house, all ages will love to play it (apart from really young toddlers as the pigs are a bit small) from young to old you can have so much fun. You can also take it with you as its small enough to fit in a backpack so is great for holidays or even take it to the pub for a fun game to play over a few drinks. It is unpredictable, someone who looks set to win can roll a makin bacon and lose all their points - to much hilarity from the other players. I have seen people shout at the pigs, plead with the pigs and almost cry with the pigs as they roll them and await their fate.We sometimes change the rules and invent new games which also add to the fun.

This game is a quick, easy and fun game to play if you need something low impact to fill a bit of time. It's really competitive and great to play with friends. It's a game of chance more than a game of skill but that's where the fun lies right? The little pigs that you get are really cute. The game play is really straight forward. You get a quick guide which shows you what each pig is worth. It's kind of like a variant of the card game pontoon with the stick/twist routine and daring to be greedy and attempt to score more points or you might lose all your points/// with the winner being the first to score 100 points (it can happen quicker than you might think!) - I really enjoyed it,hence I bought my own copy!

This is a classic game for 2 players or the whole family.Whilst there is almost no skill involved and they have an annoying habbit of ending up in the same position many times in a row, it is still incredibly funny even though you wouldn't think it would be.It is also one of the few games that anyone one from 8 to 80 can end up literally rolling on the floor laughing.I used to have an old version before replacing it with this one and I had many hours of fun throughout my childhood and I still enjoy it now (I'm 16 at time of writing).*To all those who gave this product 1 star*:You obviously have no appreciation for classic games and you have no idea what fun is, I am ashamed of you all.
