The bicycle trade is still in the dark ages as proprietary mechanical systems and servicing goes. Parks markets to high-priced shops, and cyclists with deep pockets. Parks is by no means the highest bicycle nose-thumber, but neither is their product line priced where low income and retiree DIY people can easily afford their products. This tool I need for a bottom bracket I'm using on the cargo bicycle I'm building. It has the size and construction needed, except it is not easy to fit to a socket wrench handle! One has to use either a large, expensive hex socket to turn this, or a clumsy open or box-end wrench, while also aligning the retainer nut it drives.Com-on Park Tool!

I've used this tool several times, and I wish I'd had it years earlier.Because it is hollow, I can put a quick-release skewer (QR) thru it and the bottom bracket (BB) (with a fender washer on both ends), and it stays securely in place. Without the QR, it is almost impossible to hold the tool in place and impart sufficient torque to loosen the bottom bracket, without it slipping.I have a similar version of this tool, but that one is not hollow, and is almost useless, as it slips far too easily, marring up the soft aluminum BB cups/lockrings.So, if you don't have it - get it!

My Peloton started making a clunking noise that was getting progressively worse. Peloton customer support told me the cranks needed to be aligned. However the problem was clearly the bottom bracket was coming loose. The assembly match mark was no longer aligned and the bottom bracket could be turned by hand. Using the Park Tool BBT-18 and CCP-44C I was able to reinstall the bottom bracket and eliminate the clunking. Ended up having to do it a second time using thread lock but now it is problem free.As others note an OCTOGANAL 36mm socket is needed for the BBT-18.

I don;t know if you have ever used Park tools bottom bracket (HCW-5), and stripped out a bottom bracket shell or busted your knuckles when it slipped. if you have... then you know that a few bucks for the bottom bracket remover is nothing.... if you haven't, i encourage you to either take my advice and buy this thing, or get a tap kit to pull your frozen shell.

The tool was a bit loose on the flanges of the locking nut on the bottom bracket bearings. The biggest problem was finding a wrench big enough to engage the flats on the outside of the tool. I finally resorted to a large pipe wrench. It worked but I managed to distort the outer edges of the locking nuts.

This tool works as intended. Oddly enough I have in my toolbox a 36mm 12 point socket in 1/2 drive, a 36mm 12 point box wrench and a large adjustable wrench that all allow me to use this tool. So I'm not suffering from all the consternation of those that are perplexed by the 8 sidedness of the tool.

I've been using Park bike tools for 25 years, and they've always done the job. I recently switched from Campagnolo shifting to Shimano Di2, and needed to replace my brand-specific tools. I'm sure this will do the job quite well when I need to adjust my bottom bracket.

Does the job. Just be careful not to let it slip off the nut or it will damage the nut's corners. This has happened to me twice. Apply axial pressure when loosening and tightening to keep the tool in good contact with the nut.

like all Park Tools i have purchased, this is a well made product that does the job well. Note: it will require a 12 point socket like one of these - http://amzn.com/B006MPBQHS

This tool works as indicated. I've had some of my Park tools for more than 30 years. Not one of them has ever broken or failed me. I like that they are made in the USA.

Removes and installs ISIS bottom bracket cartridge bearings in a snap. A very handy tool since we know those bearings go bad at a moments notice. Loving my Park Tools.

Used this BBT-18 to remove the ISIS castle nut from the sprocket side of a 2019 Giant E-Trance. You will need a 36mm 12 point socket to mate up w/this BBT-18.

Tolerances are tight with no slop, so it works well. The tool is fairly short which helps to keep it against the cup as you use it. I would buy it again.

The part is exactly as described and arrived on time.Although I did find the package laying in my yard, this was the shipping CO's fault.
