I did not buy my GX9 on Amazon. I own the GX9 body, 12-60mm f3.5-f5.6 kit lens and the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 II prime. When this camera came out it was compared to the earlier GX8 based on the model numbering, but is much closer in size and feature set to the excellent Panasonic GX80/85. The comparison to the GX8 served to disappoint some reviewers and consequently this stunning little camera has not achieved the praise it fully deserves as a fully featured and versatile M4/3 camera.Images are sharp and highly detailed and crop well while retaining detail. Out of the camera JPEGs produce well balanced colours and there are a range of settings from natural to vivid to achieve a good colour range. For B+W shooters the GX9 introduced L Monochrome, which simulates B+W film grain. It is an excellent choice for street photography or candid portraits. For those with small or medium hands this is a well balanced camera and small zooms such as the 12-60mm kit lens suit the camera well. A fast prime such as the Pana 20mm is slightly larger than a pancake lens but is ideal for unobtrousive photography. Buttons on the camera are small, but perfectly useable. This is balanced by an excellent bright articulating (on the vertical axis only) touch screen which makes menu surfing and quick settings a doddle. The viewfinder can also be moved into a vertical position. Some users have complained of image 'tearing' while in use, while others (like myself) find no problem at all. Try before you buy! That said the viewfinder is of limited benefit with most of the focusing taking place using the touch screen which is still useable in strong sunlight. As with the current crop of Panasonic M4/3 and 1" cameras the Panasonic software makes full use of functionality. In 4K video burst mode a series of shots can be taken and then stills selected capturing action that you could otherwise never hope to. Stills are at 8Mp resolution. Other really useful modes are Post Focus allowing depth of fiels and focusing points to be set after a shot has been taken. The addition of focus stacking, a long process using a DSLR, allows the choice of points across an image to retain their sharpness. Very good indeed for photographing flowers. There are many other in-camera enhancements which take the hard work out of capturing perfect shots, applying filters etc, which can greatly help the budding and experienced photographer alike.4k video, is simply stunning, High definition 1080p is also extremely good, however there are no ports for an external microphone.Battery life is good, but like all such cameras get another battery and an external charger. Charging is in-camera using a micro USB port, but a separate charger is definitely the best option. I use Duracell spare battery DR9971 ( available on Amazon) as a quality spare with a small separate Duracell charger with a portable power pack.In summary, I would say this is about as perfect a little camera as I can find among the increasing choice of M 4/3 cameras in this segment. As a purchase it will stand the test of time. However choose wisely when it comes to lens to get the best from the body. The crop factor is x 2. This is important. This camera paired with a fast prime lens such as the Pana 20mm f1.7 or the Panasonic 15mm Summalux f1.7 (40mm and 30mm respectively at 35mm equavilant - and close to the aspect of the human eye) produces high quality results in a small form factor, allowing shooting in low light.I also appreciate the cheaper 12-60mm kit lens for that extra bit of focal length in good daylight, but keep coming back to the primes. The GX9 is so good that it has forced a reappraisal of my DSLR kit and I've sold it off in favour of this M4/3 small body and quality lens. This is one of those cameras which once tried you will not want to put down. One of Panasonic's little gems and worthy of far more attention. Highly recommended

I'm mildly astonished no-one has reviewed this yet: - I'm just buying my second body! It strikes me as being very much a sweet-spot, in respect of both performance and price, for current M4/3 camera bodies. And it's not just me, DPR seems to agree. The GX9 exemplifies the M4/3 compact but high performance paradigm. It gives little away in image quality to the Olympus EM1 II, and is neck-and neck with the Olympus Pen-F, at half the price. I should know, I own both...It's tough, compact, easy to use, offers IQ that's more than good enough for my various stock/pro uses, and is unobtrusive. Add a decent prime or zoom - my current fave for this one is the Panaleica 12-60 F2.8/4 - and you're good to go!What's not to like?Well, just a few things, none of them deal breakers - for some sensitive users, its field sequential display sucks. I'm OK with this, but others may disagree. And it's as ugly as sin. That I can forgive... Lastly, the grip isn't much good. But there's an after-sales fix for this. All in all, for £579 less £50 cashback, it's a downright steal.

I've had this camera for a week now and it is superb, images are very sharp.I have been using the 14-140 lens from an earlier purchase.Positives:No low pass filter which gives sharper images; not seen any sign of moire patterning. The improved stabilisation seems to be working very well.Body is compact and could fit in most pockets with a pancake lens attached.Post Focus can now be processed very quickly in body, which is a real time saver.Articulating screen which is very clear.Exposure bracketing can now be used with timer(not possible on GX8 and other earlier models) and be set so only 1 click is needed.Negatives:Just a few small gripes.SD card slot is too close to cover and can be a bit tricky to grip.No battery charger included, just a cable to charge battery in camera, but chargers can be purchased separately cheaply. No port for cable release, although there is an app for that. Personally I find the app to be a bit difficult to use. Maybe that will be improved upon?Overall though an excellent camera.

I love this camera, it is light enough to take anywhere and powerful enough to catch anything, images are stunning and crisp, the eye sensor moves, the screen rotates, great selection of lenses, particularly the tiny 12-32 that comes with it, it is a complete workhorse allowing you to decide how complex you want to go when making images from a smart as a button full auto to full manual. I love Panasonic cameras and have a number of them but this is definitely the cream of the crop for image quality, (though I still love my LX-100 as well). Micro 4 3 still has plenty of life in it as far as I am concerned..

I love this little camera, very unobtrusive. combined with the Leica 15mm 1.7 it's a street photography powerhouse, especially with the amazing b&w filter. Add a grip or a case to it if you have big hands like me.

Very good value for money, got it mostly for holiday photos and was not disappointed, as it is very easy to use, light and good quality photos.

I bought this as a second body for my olympus micro 4/3 lenses. Delighted with the practice images I have got out of it.
