I have had a few of these Panasonic phones over some years, the first one I bought for work because of the digital operation, supposedly greater range and compact, mobile like handset. When I came to use it I found the answer phone facility much better than cordless phones the company previously purchased. A similar Panasonic to this current model had better transmission coverage over our archive storage facility floor area and the battery life seemed to be endless with the standard AAA Ni-MH cells. The KX-TG6822EB and similar models have much better more intuitive menus. I purchased a single phone of the same model as this twin pack from Amazon when we moved to Europe, plus a wireless phone jack set to avoid the difficulty of installing hardwired extension sockets for a second older cordless phone of a different make. One of the wireless phone jacks recently went kaput so for the same replacement cost, £50+, I bought this twin unit cordless set. I found out from reviews that the wireless phone jacks have a poor reliability record so buying these Panasonic multiple sets to match the number of extension phones required is a better and cheaper option. It works fine but, annoying "but", the date/time settings keep resetting back to 1:00am on Jan 1st 2016. I suddenly started having this problem with the single Panasonic phone of the same model and now it happens with this dual phone, straight out of the box. I have reset the time on three occasions since receiving and setting up it a week ago. The batteries have been fully charged for the recommended initial seven hours so that cannot be the problem. Fortunately resetting the master also resets the slave unit, but I am at a loss to understand why this happens, it never occurred at work or home in the UK. If any reader of my review has any idea of a possible cause or solution please comment. My other slight niggle is that the slave charger unit mains wire is a bit on the short side and has a stiff plastic sheath. After being folded up in the product box it acts like a stretched spring and nearly pulls the very lightweight slave charger station off its shelf. I would recommend carefully warming the plastic to soften it and straighten out the kinks. Despite the poor reviews on sound quality, my examples of this make have been fine, but one star dropped for irritation about random self resetting.Updating on my initial review, the time and date change occurred again, a few days after the last occurrence. I noticed this just after taking a call so I must check after the next incoming call. One reviewer complained about reception distance being short so I have just carried out a check. My phone registers two bars on the signal indicator at 24 metres outside and 19 metres outside at a sharp oblique angle to the exterior wall. I even get the full three bars signal on the phone in the basement, through two floors of reinforced concrete below the base unit. The walls on my house are two foot thick solid masonry through which my wireless router signal falls off dramatically on a veranda at less than a quarter of the above distances. In my location therefore there seems to be no problem with signal strength.Update on my earlier review: The date and time definitely reset to January, the 4th for some reason and a random pm time after a call is answered. I will now have to check on the internet for a solution to this problem

I bought this unit to replace my old Panasonic equivalent, which was still going strong, but after 5 years of faithful service the buttons are very difficult to use, due to wear and tear.First impressions are that the build quality is ever-so-slightly inferior to the old model. The old one stood up on it's own, the new one is "modelled like a pebble, with curved round edges", I guess in an effort to make electronic devices less dated and angular, which I guess is no bad thing. It's just annoying that it won't stand up, lying down on it's back the speaker outlet is covered and therefore the ringer is muffled significantly. The display, buttons, and base are practically identical. The base is slightly smaller and lighter, with a stand protruding from the rear of the unit. The usual answerphone controls are present, along with a message counter (something the old one didn't have), showing clearly that you have new messages, the old one flashed to show a message, but unless you delete all messages straight away, there was no way of knowing how many were new/were on there already.Generally no real concerns about build, the important thing is the audio aspects surely? Well, I'm afraid to say that like many others I feel the sound quality is inferior to the old unit. Voices sound muffled and background noise is amplified far more (like TV's or radios), there is a "Noise Reduction" button, but it doesn't work very well to be honest, just makes the voice on the other end quieter. I have tried turning the speaker volume up to the maximum but that doesn't do a great deal. As far as I can tell, Panasonic have done this in an effort to reduce power consumption. The old unit worked at crazy distances from the base unit, but chewed through the battery life as a result. You were lucky to get 3 days out of it with general use, if you forgot to replace in the cradle. As a direct comparison I have left this unit in the living room for 5 days, using a normal amount of around 2 hours or so a day, it's still going strong with 40% battery life left. I have enabled "Low power mode" which reduces power by 90% apparently, I haven't noticed a huge drop in performance, but a couple of times when the wife has been standing directly in front of the base unit, there is a fair amount of interference and signal breakup. It seems strange that Panasonic would change a perfectly good design, in favour of an inferior one, but I guess it's all about POWER these days! To be fair the phone works just fine, calls are pretty standard, but I have noticed that I do have to ask people to repeat themselves more often, especially when speaking to people with thick accents, as these tend to become more muffled than most. To summarise:Positives = Battery life, Number of ringtones, Answerphone features (remote access/control), Clear display, Call barring (needs caller ID service to work)Negatives = Slightly muffled sound, not free-standing anymore, highly sensitive microphone picks up EVERYTHING in the room.Basically, if you have owned an older version of this model, like me; you may be disappointed. If purchasing this unit for the first time, I'm sure you won't notice these minor flaws, as it is a perfectly functional phone, well designed with an abundance of quality features.

I've read a lot of comments that the volume is too low on contemporary Panasonic DECT phones. I'm 65 but not deaf & do not have a problem with this model!Bought to replace a set of 10yr old Philips phones that didn't like new batteries. I really wanted new phones that use Lithium rechargeable batteries - no one seems to make them so have to put up with temperamental AAA NiMH.The display is black on white & very clear - my Philips was poor when the backlight was on.The phonebook holds 120 entries but you can't enter different numbers against a name without re-entering the name, unlike mobile phones. You cannot assign different ringtones to different callers but have far more ringtones than I need - 30 or maybe more. The block caller list allows 50 entries but you have to manually enter individual numbers or groups - might not be the best model if you need to block callers regularly. You cannot assign a different set of numbers to single handsets so not much use if you have a lodger for instance. Name entry is as fiddly as other DECT phones & you can set lowercase letters. You can stop individual handsets ringing between programmable times which is great for bedrooms in particular. I haven't used the noise reduction facility on incoming calls but sound quality was absolutely fine. These phones work with DECT repeaters according to the pretty comprehensive instructions. You can buy optional keyfinders & additional handsets up to a total of 6. The transparent "NR" button flashes to alert uses to either missed calls or left messages. You can program this key to quickly access a couple of functions without scrolling menus.Initial setup is easy - put in the batteries, plug the base station into the line with its power brick, enter the date & time which is then duplicated as the remaining handsets that have their batteries inserted. Enter a name & number - the other handsets are automatically programmed. You can get the system to ring a particular number after a message is left or set an access code to ring then play back messages.

I bought this Panasonic extension handset from Amazon Warehouse. It joins another handset I bought around 10 years ago. They both connect to a Panasonic base station (with handset) that's around 5 years old. They all work fine with one another. Thank goodness for DECT/GAP technology! Like the other handsets, this one includes a loudspeaker, for hands-free talking; and although the monochrome display is a bit jaggy and low-res, you can read what it says and work through the setup routine pretty easily. (If you have setup other Panasonic handsets, it's roughly the same.) You can customise the ring tone and its volume, and you can adjust the volume of the person you're talking to,at least when using the speaker option. It picks-up the time, date, status and any stored phone numbers from the base station after you complete the pairing process. Pairing is easy, and it's in the 'Initial setup' menu - just as well, as there was no manual in the box. Before you start to pair, (a) position yourself close to the base station; and (b) make sure you know the base station PIN. (If in doubt, try 0000.) Then (c) follow the pairing process which you find in the 'Initial setup' menu on this handset. During this it will ask you for the base station PIN, then invite you to press the 'wireless' symbol on the base station. That should do it so long as you've not exceeded the number of extensions your base station will support. Sound quality, like that of my other Panasonic handsets, is very good. Build quality of the handset is OK; the charger-cum-rest that's provided is pretty light. Initial charge takes hours. I'm giving 4 stars not 5 simply because they moved the 'speaker' button to the bottom of the keypad, whereas on the other handsets it's one of the 4 buttons grouped around the big round button at the top. The new position makes it impossible to switch to speaker mode with one hand, as I can with the other handsets. (Designers, eh?) As this is a DECT/GAP device it *should* work with non-Panasonic DECT/GAP systems as well.

Delivery time was fast and the unit was well packaged. I suggest you ignore the 'One Star' reviews – this telephone is well worth a full five stars. It replaces an older Panasonic cordless telephone Which I have had for several years, and compares extremely well with its predecessor. The handset is slimmer and neater, the build is solid, and its performance excellent. Setting it up was simple, instructions easy to follow, and I was most impressed by the Programming pages 24 – 28, with their simple Codes, which give a fast access into all of the necessary adjustments. One point is well worth a comment. One of the setup sub- menus is 'Equaliser', which adjusts the volume level/quality of incoming and outgoing speech. There are two levels, 'Normal' and 'Treble', default being Normal, which I find much too o quiet in both directions. Switching this function to Treble immediately increases and clarifies voice levels in both directions to what I would suggest is for mea really comfortable 'normal' level. If you have not already discovered this, I would recommend you try it right away!Another small point is that the base unitt voice responses to buttons being pressed, and messages received, are also so quiet that I have to put my head down beside the base unit to hear them comfortably. And in this case there is no Equaliser to permit any adjustment, which I think is rather a pity – but not worth deducting a point for. Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase.

These phones replaced an older set which had seen better days. These new phones are so clear and so easy to set up and use. They have a brilliant intercom system so I can contact my other half when he is out in the garage which is approximately 200ft away and the phone is very clear even out there. No nasty beeping to tell us we are out of range which drove me made on the old phones. I take it in the garden and I can answer the phone when I am working out there with no problem at all. I am absolutely delighted with this set and for the price it could really not have been beaten. They look very stylish when sitting in their stands and they go into the stands easily and stay put which is another bonus compared to the old ones which just sort of sat and slid out of position. Also I can talk on this with the loud speaker whilst the phone is still on the stand which keeps the battery charging whilst I am talking. My other phone had the capability of loud speaker calling but only off the stand so if I was waiting an age for some call centre to answer I would hear the battery warning start beeping to tell me it needed to be put on the charging stand - which would have cut the call off - and drove me mad. All in all I am very happy with my new phones, only had them a month but they have been used quite well and it was very easy to record our own answer machine message too. Well done Panasonic, good product and well thought out.

They sit in the hand nicely, quite 'fat' which makes them easy to hold. Individual cradles are a bit light but haven't fallen over yet (although I might weigh them down somehow anyway).Obviously you have to set the time - once! The other units pick it up from the one. Being able to name the units is good, no guessing if you want to call the Garage (was that 3 or was it 4?) just highlight and call.Sound quality is good (although I need to set up the voice recognition better) and the volume is HUGE (adjustable).Very, very tempted to up the number I have to the max (six) but buying another set like this is very nearly cheaper than individual units - will work like that, so as I say, tempted.Do you >NEED< 4 phones, probably not*, but then you probably don't need a giant TV either - it IS a convenience and a decent set of features without being too confusing. Even the speakerphone option is easy (could never remember it on the BT Diverse we had). You will nee dthe manual for the set up codes but not thereafter I suspect - all menu driven and quite logical.(*I >do< this is my interface to my home automation system.)Oh, the price is amazing for the amount of tech too and delivery was a wee bit longer but it was free so no complaints at all!

So my husband needed a new phone for his office, he’s a bit ham-fisted and gets annoyed when he can’t easily dial, save numbers, etc. so I had orders to buy something easy to use.Slightly random connection but we recently purchased a new TV, another Panasonic item, and are so pleased with it I started looking at their home phones.I eventually chose this model because it has an answer-phone (vital for work), Caller ID (also vital) and is incredibly easy to use with large keys and screen.I set it up without needing to refer to the instructions, but they are so well written and easy to use I think my husband will get on brilliantly with them.No need to choose base station as they automatically connect to it,the same goes for setting date/time and adding numbers to the memory. The keys are backlit, so when it’s gloomy not a problem dialling.Another good feature is being able to switch off the ringer when we shut the office in the evening and it’ll come back on in the morning. Loads more features but I haven’t checked them all out yet.Would I recommend this product? Yes I would it’s a decent price and by a good manufacturer.

The phones arrived on time but we have only had them a couple of days. Setting them up was comparatively easy, but note to self another time is, dont forget that the panic alarm is wired in to the old phone system and dont just gaily pull out all the wires, without making a diagram. Once I got my head around the instruction booklet, I managed to set it all up, including the intercom. But, and I had to dig deep in the Amazon reviews to find other purchasers' comments, it does sound much more muffled than my old Panasonic, which I only replaced because the charging unit had died after several years of use and could not be replaced. Like others,I have not sent it back because I had plugged in all the phone book names whilst it was charging and before I plugged it all in.I do like the bright lights on it, I like the visually easy keys, I like the fact that you can give the handsets room names, so they land back on the right charger. I like the fact that I had only to key in the names and numbers on one set and the rest sorted themselves out.So I would recommend it, but it is more muffled than my previous Panasonic.

Nice system with lots of features but relatively easy to get going without having to read a ton of technical stuff first. I especially like the fact that you can set up basic things like date and time on one handset and, provided they are all on and working, the information is available to every handset. This goes for the phonebook too.I read on other reviews that some people had issues with the sound quality, but that isn't my experience thus far. The sound quality of both microphone and earpiece is more than adequate. The handsets are light and the information display is clear enough for people of all ages to read, as the characters and symbols are of a good size. The only thing that I would have a comment on,insomuch as an item to put on my wishlist, is that the base units could be a little heavier. The light plastic modules can move around when you're replacing the handset in a hurry and not being too accurate; but it really isn't a problem at all.Overall, good value for money with lots of useful features and seem as though they will last a long time.Recommended

Replaced BT handset with this twin Panasonic set. Easily setup (we only use basic settings and answering service) and works perfectly. Not really much to choose between the two (BT and Panasonic) in terms of basic features BUT...The BT handset was infuriating as it's default setup was to block nuisance calls. ie Without being set to do so.Unaware of what this feature meant, I missed 4 days of incoming calls until I finally called a friend to ask why they hadn't called me. They'd been trying for days to do so. (it blocked ALL incoming calls - outgoing calls not affected).I had assumed that if I wanted this feature activated, I would have to choose to do so.I then spent a frustrating time turning that feature OFF.This arrangement is patently ridiculous. And potentially dangerous. Having also had problems with other BT appliances (like wifi boosters that don't work with the modem they're supposed to work with) I have now crossed BT off all my wish lists.I've never had any problems with Panasonic devices.

We like the phones and the answering machine and would purchase the same again if needs be. Within saying that, the base stations are a bit light so tend to move when one picks up the phone, the instruction book is quite detailed which we found was a bit of a nuisance as we had to plough though loads of stuff we are not interested in just to set thing up, but all in all quite pleased with our purchaseAbout a year after our first purchase we decided to add an extra phone to the system, we sent off for it and it arrived soon enough we them charged it up ready to put into the system, but there were no instructions on how to do so in the box..We got the old instruction book out which is a very confusing document as it is written by somebody who knows what hey are doing. It took us three weeks to work out what to do next and I admit once we work it out it's a bit of nothing, so please put the instruction in the box in simple language for us elderly folk who have a problem with these things

I bought this to replace a previous Panasonic pair of phones that we had in the house. I'm not disappointed to these upgrades to the previous model I had. First up, they're basic house phones so don't expect too many features. Having said that, one thing they've improved on significantly for me is the quality of the speaker mode. On my other Panasonic it was truly terrible, but now the quality is good and clear for a few of us to huddle around and speak to the person on the other end and understand each other. Battery life is good as well. Durability - as I've only had the phone for a couple of weeks it's a bit premature for that, but so far so good. It was certainly very easy to set up.Time and date being synchronised to the second handset from the first after initial set up.All in, given our ubiquitous mobile phone age, I was never going to spend a lot on a home phone. However, I think this one is a great balance between cost and functionality, with good quality thrown in.

I've just bought this after getting nuisance calls from one number, (having used an insurance comparison site which seemed to have sold my number to some insurance/telephone marketing company). My previous cheapo phone couldn't block calls and neither would my telephone provider, without paying them a monthly amount. So... this phone is doing a perfect job. Its already blocked 3 phone calls (they call me hourly) from this dumb marketing company and I am unaware of them calling until I look at the list of missed calls. So this means that the phone doesn't ring when they call which I believe happens with other phones.I've not tried the answer machine yet (I've only had the phone a few hours)but it was a fairly easy set up, once you trawl through the manual which aren't the clearest instructions at first glance. I am very pleased with this phone and to be able to block particular numbers as well as withheld numbers is wonderful.
