I have had Panasonic DECT cordless phones for years now, our previous ones have always had a facility whereby you can assign a certain ringtone for a certain contact in the phonebook so I was almost sure this phone was going to have it before I bought it, but alas you cannot seen to do that on this particular panasonic model nor can you assign any ringtones for groups (like family, work etc).Nice large display and great to see they have put a large time and date when phone is in standby mode, nice to see they have given illumination to the LCD display as well as the rubberised buttons on the dial pad. Shame your stuck with amber colour, would have been nice to have a choice of amber, blue or red backlight and keypad colour that you could set up in the menu to customize it to your preferance but I suppose this would have bumped the price up of the phone. There is an indicator on top of the phone, its a shame though that Panasonic didnt have the foresight to make better use of the LED light on top of the handset to have it red colour for charging, flashing green colour for missed calls (or calls in the caller id list) and flashing red for ringing rather than it just being amber for charging and amber flashing for ringing LED.Great that it uses the standard AAA type rechargeable NI-MH Batteries, great selection of ringtones that are very clear and not tinny sounding nor distorted, good quality clear sound from the handset speaker on the back of the handset.I may be wrong but I dont think there is a 'screening' facility that you can turn on and off for the answering machine part and I dont think you can play messages back at x2 speed, not too sure whether you can pause playback message either nor do I think you can leave a 'memo' message - I could well be wrong because I have not had a chance to properly sit down and read through all the instructions.Have tried the copy phonebook between other panasonic handset and it worked very well. No sim card reader and no landline SMS text feature and no speed dial facility but I doubt if your going to get it for this price.Would have like to see a feature whereby you could mute the ringtones by long press of star or hash key button in addition to the night mode as opposed to going into menu to turn ringer off or on. They have seem to have done away with the clip at the back of the handset so you cant attach the handset to a belt etc but again this wont worry a lot of people.Base unit is very good better than previous Panasonic base, can be wall mounted. great you have the red LED digits to tell you how many calls you have on the answering machine this takes out the guesswork, well spaced buttons on the base - why not have all the buttons rubberised though on the base? - another question and there is most probably some logic reason but why when panasonic brings out a new DECT phone why do they manufacture a base where you cannot put an existing Panasonic handset into the base and vice versa why can you not put the handset of this DECT phone into another Panasonic older base ???? - you know keep it simple and backwards capability! So on the whole I really like this phone, but to have more features such as selective ringtone for certain contacts in the phonebook I think your gonna have to splash more cash for a higher up model.

Its rare that I'm so stupidly happy over a product, I tend to buy them to serve a purpose or replace a broken item as was the case for this phone.Like most parents I dreaded the thud of the phone bill hitting my door mat, needing a really strong Vodka on the rocks undiluted before I could face it. Why? because I have teenagers. Teenagers often mean massive phone bills especially those who don't have access to unlimited access to phones and when unlimited texting just isn't enough to call the love of their life. As you may know the likes of BT will not help us out, they only offer at a charge per month to restrict ALL mobile numbers and international calls being made which of course is as muchuse as a chocolate kettle if the rest of the family need to call each other unless you have the special pin number which then negates its use. For BT there is no incentive to offer this service either as a monthly charge or otherwise they want our teenagers to run up phone bills equivalent to the national debt, in fact if like me you call them asking for this service you might get someone declaring that 'no-one has ever asked for individual number barring' I say individual because my experience is that its usually just one or two that are dialled with frequency. So I did a lot of google searching for phones that offer outgoing call barring and none seem to do that, I tried numerous keyword searching and nothing really appeared expect for this phone, however it only stated that is barred certain incoming calls. So hey ho I was back to carrying phones around with me to prevent rogue calls being made till today when my new replacement arrived. Now first things first:- the manual is flipping horrible and not very clear. It's also in small print. The user manual has been written by a techie not by a user so think techie and you'll be ok.Second the ringtone options are dire, and I mean really really bad think early mobile phone ringtones. I opted for a lesser evil Ride of the Valkaries - if there is an option for a good old fashioned ring I'll let you know. And finally and most importantly the reason for my stupidly excited moment - you can actually stop certain numbers dialled or accurately stop groups of numbers so you could stop expensive numbers such as 0800 etc, but the beauty of this option is that it will accept 8 digits of a number which is more than enough to stop certain mobile numbers dialled. As yet Ive not discovered an issue with this though I guess this could happen if several people you know have the same first 8 digits. The undo facility isn't a quick fix as you have to go back through the process. Just a note if you buy a system with more than one phone you have to do the process for all phones. So this phone is a pain to set up, however it does have outgoing call barring facility which is actually called 'call restriction' (I'd advise changing the pin number from the generic one to a more personal one because a clever kid could google the user manual to figure it out)So there you go, I'm stupidly happy over a phone so much so I rang my husband and gave him the good news and Im about to order another one for the home office.

This review is for the KX-TG6624EB which is a 4 handset package. I've had Panasonic phones before and I'm glad I've gone back to them. These are a replacement for a set of 4 BT Synergy phones, which have recently all died. Apparently a common fault in that the charger cannot charge the batteries any more. BT sucks.Anyways, got these phones yesterday and unpacked. Inside there are 4 x mains adaptors, 4 x handset, 3 x charging units and 1 x main unit which doubles as the answer machine. The phone display is large and is backlit in a pale orange, good for viewing in poor light or in the dark. Numbers and letters are large (good for my failing eyesight, and for seeing who's ringing you from a distance,if you have caller display feature on your phone line (extra cost from telephone line provider). Set up is simple, plug a mains adaptor into each base unit, insert the included rechargable batteries, place handset into the cradle. The phone starts charging automatically. What I do like on this phone is that it tells you it's charging and when its fully charged. The set up is stright forward and includes a display for the time/date/month, a nice touch. The answer phone comes pre-programmed with a message or you can record your own, and switching it on and off is via one touch of a button. Nice. The call volume is loud and it includes something that enhances the callers voice, good for hard of hearing or for people who talk quietly. The phones themselve look well made and have a small rubber pad on the reverse which makes holding it more secure in your hand. Some phone can be shinny and slippy when handling or holding under your chin when talking hands free :-) saying that this phone does have a speaker phone for real hands free, which is very loud. I haven't tried out the range of these phone, but from past experience I would expect to walk around outside without any problems with reception. I'll let you know if this isn't the case with these phones. This phone also can double as an alarm clock. It can set it to go off daily or just the once at a set time, plus it has a useful feature called night mode. You can set this on individual handsets and allows you to turn off the ringer at a set time at night and then automatically switch it back on again in the morning. Handy for stopping nuisance calls, or for night workers who dont want to be woken during the day. A very useful feature I thinks. The phone book is large, more numbers than you can shake a stick at, and if you have the caller diplay feature you can see who is calling by name, and ignore it if you like :-) Naughty! Finally the ringtones. Maybe this is the area where this phone isn't the best. It does have about 40 different tones, melodies, banging tunes of hip hop and classical, but where are the 'normal' ring-ring stuff? Do we all want to be disturbed by Beethoven 5th Symphony?Overall I am pleased with the purchase. Price wise, on the button and should last a good number of years. Panasonic products are quality.

I had shopped around quite a bit for the best price where the nearest I found to this price of £33.69 was on eBay where the pair were listed at £39.99 and in other outlets the price was £59.99! [all prices as at 28th April 2012].The hand sets are very easy to use and you have the convenience that when you make phone number entries in one hand set, you can export your numbers and names to the second hand set with a few button clicks and the transfer literally took seconds to complete. The phones are very good to handle when taking calls where the ringing volumes are reasonable and the communication clarity is good. They have the usual features of modern phones such as mute, speaker, hold etc.and snug nicely in their base units where they charge themselves when engaged in the slots. The set also has its own answer machine where you have the option to record you own message or leave it on its default settings where you get the usual well spoken English voice declaring that the call cannot be taken at the moment; please leave a message. There are just two little niggles that I want to mention:One is that the power lead cord is a little too short (for our needs anyway), to be plugged in to the mains and main base unit where there isn't enough slack so that the cable can be adequate hidden in our plastic cable tidy so it's fully exposed. Not having the black cable at hand I would estimate that its about 3 to 4 feet in length.Niggle two is that when I first read the phones advertisement it detailed that it had 'caller id' which we liked as our previous phone didn't have this function and we never knew who was calling us. However, call me ignorant if you like, I later found that you have to activate the 'caller id' facility with your phone service provider (for a small monthly fee in our case), to enable you to view the callers details. If you have them listed in the phone book, you see their name displayed in the screen. However, I don't know in what form a new caller's details will be displayed yet - maybe just their number?Overall we are pleased with the Panasonic twin phone set where it looks quite smart and stylish and even considering the two small gripes I mentioned, I would still recommend the phone set. Thanks for reading.

This set of four Panasonic phones has been a hit from the day I first got them. They worked straight out of the box and are intuitive to use - my reference to the user manual was minimal. The points I like are;- The answerphone system comes with two pre-recorded announcements or the facility to record your own, a digital message counter, and, playback is loud and clear, plus, you can store messages once they have been listened to.- Handsets are quite tall, slim and easy to grip with a rubber panel at the back to ensure they don't slide off surfaces etc.- Buttons and display are large and clear, and when lit (in grey on orange), the display has a high level of contrast. There are also LEDs on each phone which indicate charging status or an incoming call.- Sound quality is good, there is a variable volume control plus different tone settings to match your hearing characteristics and the built in speaker in each handset is very clear.- There is a wide range of polyphonic ringtones to choose from plus access to the phonebook and menus etc. is logical and easy.- When you put in a phone number into the phonebook it's easy to copy it to the other handsets.- Standby time e.g. the time you can leave the handsets off their charging stands is a several days depending on use.- The quality of build stands out as being much better than other brands I've had before. Two features I could do without are;- There's an "eco mode" which reduces power consumption by reducing signal output, although, given how little electricty phones use I'm not sure how useful this is.- The "night mode" where you can set the ringer to turn off at preset times at night is amply documented on this page but it has pros and cons.A couple points to remember;- Being a DECT phone set you only need one phone socket for the base station but a mains socket for each handset.- These phones won't work during a power cut, so, you might want to think about some kind of standby arrangement if you don't have a mobile phone. In summary, a very well made and competent set of phones which represent good value (no need to pay more for the latest version recently released) - even in a small house like mine it's worth having four handsets! Recommended.

I've had these 'phones for about a week after putting up with my old BT 'phones constantly losing their charge during 'phone calls.Battery life/talk time was top of my list, so I did a lot of research into cordless 'phones and the best ones to buy for value for money. I opted for Panasonic primarily because they seem to have the monopoly and the reviews are generally good. Also, no way was I going to buy another BT 'phone! These 'phones are fantastic ... the battery life is great and I don't get cut off any more in mid converation! Other features I love are the back light in the 'phone so the symbols and keys are visible in subdued lighting (when you pick up the 'phone).I also love the fact that you can screen your calls from the handset as well as the base set. The 'phone is already set up to do this and you can hear the message left on loud speaker before deciding whether to pick up or not.You only have to iput your 'phone numbers into one 'phone and it's very easy to copy them over to the other. Also, my husband no longer has to run up the stairs trying to find me with a handset when he picks up a call for me - I just pick up the other phone in our bedroom and we can have a 3-way conversation before he replaces his hand-set so I can continue the call. Another useful feature is call-barring (30 numbers I think).Oh yes, and they're very easy to set up as well! Many do not seem to like the ringtone, but I really don't mind it at all. Time will tell if it gets on my nerves but, even if it does, it's a small price to pay when there are so many other useful features. All in all, a great set of 'phones which do loads more than I've mentioned, but the features above appeal to me the most.

It is easier to use than the old BT model that I have disposed of. I don't bother to use the answer-phone as the transmitter / answerphone is upstairs to assist with range of transmitting phone calls and is not always seen when coming home to look at to see if there are any messages, so I just rely on the TalkTalk messaging service.I found the Panasonic 4 Phone system easy to setup, when I was asked the time just after plugging it in for the first time it sent the info to all the other hand sets. After putting in my small group of usual dialled numbers it is true to say you have to send each one to all the other hand sets, but it is no bother. All together I am very happy I have bought this phone unit and will also buy the 5th hand set to use in the garage so if I answer a call there, I will be able to transfer it to another hand set in the house when needed. At the moment I am using a wired in hand set in the garage mainly for the ringing sound while out in the garden. It is also good to be able to name handsets which come up by name of the location, as on my old ones all you had was a number to call and you needed to remember which hand set / location was numbered what, I usually got it wrong and called the wrong one which was a pain to say the least.Transferring calls is easier on the Panasonic than the BT which usually ended up by handing the handset over to the person the call was for rather than trying to transfer it, whereupon it usually got left at that location of that person and had to be found later normally when the phone rang the next time.I am 100% happy and recomend this phone unitto anyone who wants an easy life with phones at home or in a small work environment

Had the phones for 2 weeks, no problems at all upto now. Easy to set up as both are pre-registerd to the base station. Good quality feel to them, solidly built. Large LCD screen with Amber backlight which makes it very easy to see the numbers when dialing or going thru the phone book. Messages are so easy to play back compared to my last phone, just press play on the base station, to delete press X on the base station, thats it. You can access the messages from the handsets instead, but a bit more fidly going thru the menu's to listen to them. The message counter is a nice touch aswell. The choice of ringer tones is brilliant, simple "ring ring" to orchestral music. Quality of the speaker is good, everyone sounds nice and clear to me and I've been told that I come clear to them. I have one of the phones off the charger most of the day as I carry it around with me, had no problems with battery running out on me. The phones are a nice size to hold, the back is curved with a bit of rubberised plastic aswell so sit in the hand perfectly. For the range, I can go to my garage, which is 30m away and it still works fine. One of the surprise features that I love, is the Night Mode. You can set the times when you don't want the phone to ring. A message can still be left, I have one of the phones in the bedroom set to Night mode, from 10pm to 6am if someone calls this phone won't ring. The other phone will still ring if its not it Night mode. Never had Panasonic phones before, but don't think I'd buy any other now.I've been using the phones for 2 weeks, if I have any problem I will update this review.

An update - after 18 months everything is working very well, though it does seem awkward to get to some of the options, even with the 'manual'. However, the reason I am here again is that I have now been using the call barring facility for those really irritating, persistent people who want to do 'market surveys' or 'help you with your computer'. Some just do not give up, ringing day after day, or even on the same day (being Indian call desks they don't care about the Telephone Preference service). This blocking facility is an absolute godsend. They just get the engaged tone and we never hear from them again! "Absolutely Fabulous".I bought the twin pack rather than the single replacement I initially intended, because the twin with free postage was only ~£3 more than the single plus postage, compared with ~£17 (I think) for a spare unit later. So I now have an extra one handy in the corner of the lounge.Nice looking - I thought from the illustration the display was going to be that gaudy orange, but it's black/white with backlighting. Quite a lot of useful facilities and a reasonable menu design, though some of the icons are a tiny bit unclear. Some options though use numerical codes input which means you have to check the manual, unless you wish to try and memorise them! But they are mainly for the less used options. Message replay quite clear. I particularly like the option to bar unwelcome numbers (though I haven't had to try it yet) locally, rather than having to pay for call barring from the service provider.A good purchase I am glad to say.

Our old Dect phone was about 10 years old and was playing up a bit. Also we've moved to a new house where it makes sense to have 4 handsets. After ploughing through the reviews on Amazon, Panasonic seemed to be the best make. We were very tempted by KX-TG8524EB-Digital-Cordless-Machine, as it had a lot of very good reviews and seemed to have a lot of bells and whistles. However, we use our mobiles a lot now and only really use the home phone rarely so couldn't justify a 40-50% premium over KX-TG6624EB.This phone was exceptionally easy to set up. Once everything was unpacked, it took about 1 minute per handset to set up. Then the phones were left to charge and everything was good to go.The range of ring tones isn't the best, but we found one that was acceptable. Though our neighbours must have the same phone, and found the same limitation with ring tones, as they have the same ring!We named each phone which makes intercom calling exceptionally easy. It's so much more civilised calling my wife on the phone instead of having a shouted conversation up and down the stairs! To activate some of the functions you do have to use the menu, but we haven't used any functions yet that weren't very easy to find. The answerphone works perfectly so far - calls are recorded fine and are easy to pick up, and replay / delete, from any handset.Friends and family tell us the voice quality is much better than our previous phone. Our base unit is next to our TV, Cable, Wifi and yet we haven't experienced any signal problems. So all good and highly recommended.

Our old 2-handset DECT phone finally bit the dust a few days before Xmas, so we wanted to buy a new set in a hurry. From most of the reviews here, this set sounded just the job, so we made one of our quickest buying decisions ever......and haven't been at all disappointed. It arrived the next afternoon (on free delivery); we now have four handsets in various strategic points around the house.Plus Points:* Very easy to set up: working within 5 minutes of opening box; no need to register handsets to each other;* Includes batteries;* High quality, smart-looking handsets which feel good in the hand;* Logical menu layout: I particularly like the menu shortcut numbers listed in the manual: veryuseful during initial set-up;* Good quality audio - we haven't experienced some of the problems that other reviewers have reported;* The answerphone displays the number of messages stored;* The answerphone allows you to leave messages in place after you've listened to them so that somebody else can access them.Minor Gripes:* When you edit your phonebook on one handset, you have to use a menu option if you want one or all entries to be copied to each other handset in turn: it's not an automatic update to all handsets, which would be more convenient (I suppose you *might* want different numbers to be listed on each handset);* As others have said: despite there being many ringtones from which to choose, most weren't to our taste, but we found a few towards the end of the list that are OK.In summary: excellent value for money, THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED.

And that reservation is that there are no quickdial buttons such as the usual M1,M2 and M3 found on many other phones. Having aired this one complaint and knocking off one star because of it I must add that every other aspect of these phones is faultless. At first sight the manual that comes with the instrument looks daunting but having once found your way around the menu system once, the rest is intuative and you soon realise that the manual looks difficult only because instructions are repeated where they need not be. One of the best aspects is that having loaded the memory with all your required numbers, the whole lot can be transmitted to the second phone at the touch of a button.Reception is clear and can be increased in volume to suit the user as can the volume of the ringtone on both the base station and phone. If you prefer the ringtone can be muted on either the base station or phone. There is also a wide range of ringtones built in.The answerphone can be controlled directly from the base station or from the individual instruments but the built in message is a bit naf. This is easily replaced by your own recording. The display is clear, comprehensive and helpful when setting up the phones. No complaints here and no protruding buttons down the sides of the phones which can be pressed accidently when picking the instument up. Well worth the money.

I have finally joined the modern age and bought some digital cordless phones. I got them from Robert Dyas for £59.99 less 15% (I had a discount voucher) so they were really good value. I must admit I bought them with some trepidation as I have only ever had corded phones before and rarely use a mobile. I need not have worried. Setting them up to do the basics carefully following the guidance in the instruction book was fine. The phones did exactly what the book said they would do (always a comfort). They look and feel good and they work brilliantly throughout the three floors of my house. I'm also confident now that I can go on and make fine detail adjustments to get them to do exactly what I want them to.So, if you are a bit like me, do not hesitate to buy these phones. They are fantastic.Update 13/2/2012. I decided to buy an additional handsdset (Panasonic KX-TGA661EB Additional Handset for KX-TG6621EB Family - Black ). This comes with the charging cradle, the power lead/adaptor and rechargeable batteries. I bought it through Amazon market place from a company called LiGo. The speed of service from them was exceptional. What I can't understand is why through Amazon it costs £18.99 whereas on LigO's own website it costs £34.99. Go figure. Glad I looked on Amazon first.

As all my phones died recently i decided after reading reviews to go for the Panasonic and i am not disappointed. It fits nicely in the hand and the display is excellent, the font size is slightly too large for some of my contacts, leaving words split between two lines but maybe that is adjustable, will have to go through the many settings available or perhaps re-read the manual, this is a minor gripe really and does not detract from the otherwise excellent phone. For anyone with poor eyesight this display ticks all the right boxes.Sound is crystal clear and plenty loud enough and the ring tones are rather nice as well, as with all Panasonic products i have no doubt the phone is built to last.if the batteries fail it is so simple to change them, no different than anything else using ordinary non-rechargeable batteries which makes a pleasant change to the usual screwdriver in the back of the case to remove it etc.Caller display works well and one thing which i do like is the fact you can with a press of a button copy all contacts from one phone to another which makes life easy. All in all this phone is value for money and i recommend it.Ian Johnson

I suppose that it must be possible to want to do more with a home multi-handset answer machine but I cannot think of anything that this Panasonic doesn't do. And everything it does it does well.First things first. It looks good. It feels well made. It seems robust and far more likely to crack the tiles than shatter when dropped. Though the tiles might need replacing....Setting the date and time is a matter of simply following the instructions given in the comprehensive instruction book. And this is a model of clarity which unlike so much from the Far East reads as if written by a native speaker of the English language.Panasonic have taken the trouble to get that right in much the same way as they always seem to do.I particularly like the ease of entering names and numbers for it does not matter which handset you pick up to add in another number because new numbers can be instantly available on every other handset for the press of a couple of buttons. The black and white screen may disappoint colour enthusiasts but it is clear and easy to read. Volume can be racked up to meet the needs of the all but the deafest amongst us.All in all a good buy.
