The Panasonic Smart Home system is a great idea, a build your own kit that can be as simple or complicated as you wish whether you want camera monitoring and being able to remotely turn on things, or simply have a door/motion sensor for peace of mind the Panosonic can help you build the perfect system for your home or local situation. This kit is centred around a hub which is plugged into the wall and monitors the battery operated sensors. This is super easy to set up, plug in, press til it goes yellow, pair with the downloaded app (iOS users have an additional step of logging in as if it's a wifi router)pop in your wifi code and you're ready to register your sensors and other devices. The hub acts almost like the pad of an old wired style system as it will bleep and alarm in reaction to being armed or a sensor being tripped (in addition to the indoor siren). When arming the system for leaving the house, the hub will count down in pips that intensify the closer you get to switch on.The additional equipment in this kit include a door/window sensor, a motion sensor and a indoor siren unit. Some other reviewers have noted it's expensive to add another window/door sensor which most users will want at least two as standard, but the paperwork shows that if you register the product online and sign up to the newsletter you can recieve an additional free window/door sensor so don't ignore the paperwork!!!These are easy to pair using the app (once you work out where to go) with simple button pressing to attach to the hub.We however had a problem with our system in that it wasn't happy about communicating with our hub through thick exterior walls from our outbuilding so be aware if you have thick walls or a long distance/lots of things between the hub and the sensor. In addition it says that phones, baby monitors and wifi routers etc can interfere with the broadcast signal which is a pain in a modern day home. The app is what largely lets this product down, such an innovative product is cheapened by the lack of effort and flair in the app which is unremarkable, confusing to use and doesn't make its features as clear and usable meaning many who aren't as happy with technology will not get the best usage out of the system. There really is no excuse these days for a poorly designed app.We tested out tripping the motion sensor and it went absolutely bananas in the house but failed to send a message to the paired device but was going off alarming and asking me to cancel the (silent) Alarm when I opened the app. This is frustrating and I hope is just teething problems to do with testing on the same wifi network it assumed I was still at home (which I was) and working out the app settings etc as otherwise it works really well.Overall this is an excellent system that will allow the user to build their own security system depending on their individual and local needs, from those who just want the security of knowing if their back door is kicked in to someone who may want a camera you can talk through to help access with a distant entry point/gate via those who want to monitor their home like Fort Knox. Pieces can be easily added on as and when you wish, budget or necessity allows which makes it more accessible for any level of user.

I haven't yet set up this unit, and therefore plan to update my review once I have, but in the meantime I'm very encouraged by both the positive reviews on this page, the apparent ease of installation mentioned in the product description & confirmed by some other reviewers, and with delivery as well as the product inside the box from what I have seen.I ordered the 'Starter Kit Plus' option currently retailing at £159.99. Clearly this isn't the complete package some people may be looking for in that you are limited a small number of units that will exclude use in a larger home, or a home where the occupier seeks to secure every single room from possible intruders.Since it comes with its own app,I imagine that this system is not going to be compatible with some other security apps available through iTunes and in particular 'Home' which is due out with IOS10 in September 2016. So I'll be interested in finding that out, especially if I don't find the app with this system user-friendly, but as it's Panasonic and going by the other comments, I'm hoping it will be.Recommended.

This started kit contains the basics you need to set up a system (hub, motion sensor, window/door sensor) and there's a variety of different components you can add to it. The set up is really simple. The items in the kit are already paired (if you buy extras you have to do this yourself) so it was simply a case of positioning each item, downloading the app and connecting to your wifi. I think it took longer to decide where to put the hub than it did to do everything else! With a few additional bits of kit there's a lot more to this than just a security system. For example, you can set it so lights turn on when doors open. Most people would probably have to add to the system to cover a whole house butit's good to be able to start with the basics and purchase extras to suit individual requirements.

This is a smart and well made piece of kit. Out of the box it is simple to understand and user friendly. This set contains the hub, alarm, a door sensor and window sensor. After an initial set up each sensor pairs to the hub. I particularly like the app which can be set up to alert you if any of the alarms are triggered. This could provide significant piece of mind when away on holiday or away from home from a significant period of time. The main issues I have are the price - which could prove prohibitive - and the lack of sensors provided in the set. Unless you live in a small flat, this simply isn't going to be enough and you will be required to spend yet more money buying additional sensorsto further protect your home.

Works well out of the box the minimal set-up. The modular design is also useful, so you can add features and more coverage as you go along. My doubt around this, as with similar systems, is that it is proprietary - i.e. you have to have Panasonic Smart Home items to link-up to the system, meaning that you are tied to the platform. I'd like to see a home system that uses open standards so that you aren't tied to one brand or range - particularly given that the speed of technological change means that a brand or range is so time limited.
