I was asked to do a review on this product as part of the Panasonic Reviewer Program, first of all the ER-GB86-K Beard Styler comes in a neat well presented package(see images),with compartments for the unit, attachments ,brush, mains transformer and even a place for the lubricating oil bottle. The mains transformer is a neat piece of kit in itself, however I do think that it should be vertical as opposed to horizontal because if someone tries to use it on a low down socket it may prove to be difficult, but that said it comes with a pretty generous lead which I reckon was a tad over 6 ft.(182.88cm) in length.I found that it fits well in the hand and feels comfortable, being able to operate just using one hand with the on/off button and the trim rotator being easily managed. It does not feel heavy either, the motor is powerful but quiet. The attachments are easily fitted with a resounding "click" when put on and are easily removed when not required.I did feel that there should be some form of covering or plastic guard to cover the trimming blade when there are no attachments fitted as this leaves the blade exposed, if not just for safety reasons. The makers claim that the unit fully charges within an hour and this does seem to be the case, the beauty with this kit is that it can still be operated using the mains lead even if the battery is flat. The unit is easily cleaned and washable by rinsing it under the tap directing the water down an aperture at the top of the shaver, the brush which is supplied is handy for cleaning as well.I found that all the attachments worked well to my liking trimming my beard to exactly how I wanted it the multiple settings making things a doddle.I have gripes though, the kit comes with it's own travel pouch but unfortunately there is only enough room in it for the shaver itself no room for anything else,it should be bigger or perhaps a case maybe better & the diagramme in the manual for removing the battery is tiny. All in all a marvellous invention

I received the ER-GB86 to review as part of the Panasonic UK Reviewer Programme. This product is well packaged and laid out, the outer box contains detailed information even before you remove the trimmer so a good point for potential buyers. The trimming combs supplied are very sturdy and fit securely, showing no signs of flexing and the chance of an uneven cut. Also supplying three combs is much preferable than a single comb with many multiple settings, these are clearly marked on the trimmer and combs A B and C depending on the length you require so little chance of a mistake being made. The graduations for each length click positively as you turn the wheel and give confidence knowing that this cannot slip off your chosen length setting.I have used the ER-GB86 twice a week to keep a goatee beard trimmed and defined at 10mm length with very pleasing results both times. The claims of catching 80% more hair i would have to say are fairly accurate as it seems to remove the hair to length uniformly after just a couple of passes, rather than having to go over areas multiple times to remove difficult beard hair. The 1 hour charge is accurate, the motor is powerful and shows no signs of slowing when in use, this is a plus point for people with longer beard types. The option to use this trimmer mains powered is another bonus in my opinion as often you can be in the middle of a trim.when a battery needs recharging. The blade used directly on the skin without combs is gentle and cuts stubble close but defines moustache and beard lines accurately. It is unusual these days in the world of no oil 'titanium' blades to see that Panasonic still use stainless steel blades that need oiling, this is not a criticism and the blades work very well indeed, but worth pointing out that they need oiling periodically for best operation (especially if you are rinsing the blades which this product advertises) this allows the trimmer to run quieter and smoother in my experience.

Panasonic GB86 Wet and Dry Beard Trimmer I was given this product by Panasonic as part of the Panasonic reviewer program. As my wife is a hairdresser I usually let her trim my beard when she is cutting my hair. This will be the first time I have trimmed my own beard ! I normally have it trimmed to a grade 4 which is approximately 14 mm . My beard grows quite coarse and curly so it generally looks quite a thick beard . It has been three weeks since I was last trimmed so I have a decent amount of growth to test these clippers with . On opening the box I found everything neatly packed with no excessive packaging . After a quick read of the instructions to familiarise myself with the clippers I felt confident to tackle my maiden voyage into beard trimming (but I decided to charge overnight before use so I could start with a full charge ). Before starting I oiled the clipper as directed and changed the ' A ' grader attachment to the 'B' grader attachment rotated the dial to !5 and took a deep breath . In all honesty I was so impressed on how quickly I mastered the clippers and with nerves settled began grooming my beard . The motor never struggled and there was no uncomfortable tugging/pulling even when going through the thickest parts of my beard . At the end of trimming my beard it looked a uniform length ( I only had to do a second pass a few times on the curliest bits ) Using the cutting size wheel I easily tapered my beard (!5 down to 13 down to 11) to my hair line . When it came to neatening the lines of my beard and trimming on 0 mm the blade never nicked my skin and due to the width of the cutting head i was able to keep the lines neat and straight . It easily followed the contours of my face . The trimmer was light and comfortable to hold . Overall there was nothing I could see as a negative in using this beard trimmer and having used it now I can accept that its relatively high purchase price is worth paying for the results obtained.

Price aside, for me the four key things to look for in a beard trimmer are performance, adjustability, flexibility & ease of maintenance (i.e. cleaning) and in all but one category the ER-GB96 proved to be a stellar performer. I should point out that the product was supplied to me free for review by Panasonic for the Panasonic review programme but my son was the tester here and as a self-confessed beard fanatic the bar was set high! Firstly the pluses. In terms of adjustability & flexibility the conclusion was that this is about the best trimmer on the market with the 96's X3 comb attachments being able to adjust in half-millimetre increments making its range a very impressive 0.5-30mm.Simply put I've yet to come across another commercial product affording this degree of flexibility meaning perfectionists should be delighted! Performance too impressed with the high-torque (and quiet) motor we experienced no power lost or hair missed whatsoever during a 20 minute trim on what is essentially a thick as it gets, 29yr old's beard. We tried both wet & dry (the 96 is waterproof) and the trimmer performed superbly with both foam and gel (foam being the preferred modus operandi). Unlike some cheaper brands there was no pulling of the beard and the hand friendly grip (ergonomically the 96 is identical to barber shop trimmers) ensured no slips occurred during the trim. He tried a precise setting of 5mm all round and the finished result looked perfect Being waterproof, cleaning was also very user friendly, we did use a brush just to ensure no hair remained in the head (5mm is not a lot) but all was done in under a minute before placing the trimmer back on it's charger. The only negative really revolves around pricing. This is definitely an investment piece suited (designed?) for the real beard aficionado and for those not seeking perfection there are cheaper alternatives to be found.

I was given the product by Panasonic to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer programme. I already had a three year old Philips beard trimmer that I bought heavily reduced in Sainsbury's when I first grew my beard. I'm going to use it to make some comparative comments. First of all the Panasonic unit has a grippy smart shiny plastic casing that feels solid and well built. It's unlikely to slip out of your hands and gives the impression of a pretty up-market product. Like the Philips unit, the control is a mechanical knob built around the stem of the trimmer that extends the guard to the required distance to achieve accurate cutting without resorting to numerous guards. The Philips one came with a single very flimsy guard (which I eventually broke) and could manage 1 to 10mm length. It's plenty for me since I keep my beard smart and trimmed anyway, but for some other punters that won't be enough. The Panasonic though comes with three and they are much better designed, not delicate like the Philips. This extends its cutting range from 1 to 30mm. The Panasonic is much quieter than the Philips but works equally well. There is just one feature that the Panasonic does not have that the Philips boasted about. The Philips trimmer claimed to be able to suck up the trimmed hair and collect it. The fact is, it was rubbish and gathered only a fraction of the hair, and so it really amounted to a gimmick. After all, some mess is just as bad as lots of mess. It's just as well Panasonic did not bother with that. Too early to talk about batteries and charging I'm afraid, but this product is very good indeed.

I was given the GB86 Wet & Dry Beard Trimmer by Panasonic to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer program. I already own several Panasonic products, so I had great expectations with regards to the quality of this product. I wasn't disappointed! The product arrived well packaged in a box consisting mainly of cardboard, with a little plastic. It would be great if Panasonic could make the packaging entirely plastic free. The GB86 arrived already charged (nice touch!), but in any case charges in around only 1 hour. I was using it every other day for around 10mins each time, so the charge lasted over a week. If you can't wait to re-charge for 1hour then it can also be used directly from a corded mains supply also included.I didn't need this, but the cord is nearly 2m long, so gives you plenty of freedom. The GB86 is small, light and compact, but powerful and quiet at the same time. It has a firm grip and slides effortlessly across your beard / face, no pulling. The comb attachments are simple and easy to use and when fitted do so with a positive click. Throughout cutting they remain firmly attached. The dial setting for trimming length is also easy to use and locks firmly on the setting of choice. There are far more settings than you could possibly need, especially when combined with the additional comb attachments. I've been extremely satisfied with the GB86, its accessories and most importantly the results. After each trim, remove the comb and rinse the unit clean under a running tap with it switched on. Couldn't be easier. This product comes highly recommended!

This Panasonic ER-GB86 Barber Beard Styler was given to me as part of the Panasonic Reviewer programme. The Styler was packaged well and was supplied with 3 comb attachments, charger pack, oil, cleaning brush and a travel pouch. The Styler performed as a premium product, very smooth operation, no snagging or having to go over the same area twice. My usage of the Styler was every 2-3 days. The ability to create defined lines at the beards edges was a bonus, real control where you need it. I found the Styler easy to use and the size was comfortable, and reasonably quiet in operation. I do not have a heavy beard but the Styler offers great depth of adjustment utilising the comb attachments this is from 0.5mm up to 30mm.The cleaning of the Styler could not be easier, the water inlet allows for a quick general clean and when the blade is removed it allows a deeper clean. Oiling the blade should be performed before and after each use. Panasonic is a household name to me, one I enjoy purchasing from.

I was given the ER-GB86 to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer Programme. I was excited to use the Panasonic ER-GB86 beard trimmer from the moment I saw the packaging. The design of the packaging made the bread trimmer look sleek and professional. I was surprised to see that a little travel case for the trimmer was provided, this is one feature that I have not received with any other beard trimmer I have purchased. The multiple attachments included with the beard trimmer allow versatile usage for men with short or long beards. The trimmer itself is easy to use, with a shape that allows easy gripping. The functionality of the trimmer was a surprise, there was no tugging at any stage of use which I have experienced with other beard trimmers. The length of the trimmer without any attachment allows shaving with great precision. Overall very happy with the Panasonic ER-GB86, I couldn't recommend it higher.

I bought some cheaper ones, a different brand also, for my husband last year, the attachment kept falling off and he would end up shaving off his whole beard and it was like living with a stranger time and again, I hate living with a stranger, so I took a shot and got these for his Christmas, you see I bought some clippers for my dog, he had only gone and started using them to trim his face and I really wanted to use those on the dog, he didn't like the idea of sharing them and I couldn't bring myself to betray his trust, so anyway I bought these and man they are so much better than the old ones and the dog grooming ones (not so surprisingly) his beard looks better than it ever has and I got a more handsome husband, winning! He has no problem using them and they do a perfect job every time. These were a bit more expensive but got in the sale, well worth it, you get what you pay for.

Once you’ve sussed the instructions regarding removal and oiling of the blade each time, which sounds a faff, but is v easy to do (and quick), and if it keeps the blades sharp then a no brainer. Works well on course thick beard hair which my husband has, and is much quicker (and uniform) than the previous one he had. He prefers the simple dial for setting length, as previous beard trimmer was digital and could be too easily altered whilst using (not good )- this stays on what you’ve set.

I was after a new trimmer which was rechargeable and catered for beard lengths greater than 20mm (lockdown has given me the opportunity to experiment with a longer beard compared to my usual 5mm trim, i.e. go through the scruffy phase in private). I bought the Panasonic ER-GB86 at the end of July and I've only used this three times but so far so good. It's easy to use and achieve great results - the cutting blade is very good and efficient but must be oiled regularly - I recommend.

I bought this because it’s highly rated by pretty much everyone and I agree with them. Trims much more effectively than my older (and much cheaper one) with a wide range of cutting lengths. Easy to clean and after a weeks use the single charge I gave it is holding up well.Only dropped a star from ease of use simply because you have to oil the blade before use, this is not difficult, doesn’t take long and probably contributes to its excellent performance but its an extra step.

The Panasonic GB-86 was recommended by my brother-in-law. It's much better than my old Philips trimmer and very easy to set up and operate the beard combs. Bought it for a hair trim where it performed well and but I also keep a short beard neat using it. Very simple to select cut length to mm precision with 3 combs.

Amazing how trimmers have come on in a couple of years. This one doesn’t miss a single hair. Very impressed with the overall quality. If you’re like me who gets wound up over a couple of longer hairs that the trimmer has missed, then get this one. You won’t be disappointed.

I bought this product to keep my hair nicely trimmed during lock down as it has a 30mm length setting and it does the job excently. Also used to keep my beard and tash nicely trimmed which is done in no time at all. Definitely the best I have ever bought.
