This goretex jacket is amazing! I bought a medium and it was a little bit large but that's ok because I can wear my fleece and packable down jackets under it. This is just a shell jacket but has zippers on each side for ventilation should you need it and still be dry. This jacket, I have noticed, also keeps the relentless wind out which is a huge bonus for me. Also, with the hood on, I can actually see where I'm going and what I'm doing. I usually don't wear hoods because they almost always obscure the view out, not the case here especially when you use the adjustment cords. I just love this jacket! Yes I thought twice about buying it because it's a bit pricey but what changed my mind was that every time I've bought something from Outdoor Research,I have never been disappointed. Kudos to you Outdoor Research, you've done it again. Just need to get the pants now, lol.

I took this through Ecuador for a month, including hiking in the Amazon, and spring snowboarding in Utah. I really like this jacket. It's one of the best-looking rain jackets I tried on in this price range.Ecuador: The rain wasn't as intense as I had wanted for testing purposes, but not a drop got through. I didn't mind hiking in the humid rainforest while working up a sweat, but it was no breezy cotton T-shirt.. Now it smells a little sweaty and like a tourist van but I'm terrified to wash out the DWR.Utah: This made a great warm-weather snowboarding shell. I cinched in the bottom drawstring but it didn't ride up like my heavier shell does.On a bright sunny February day it was perfect for staying dry from the snow without baking or sweating to death.

This jacket replaces an older Mountain Hardware gore-tex jacket that I have had for about 8 years. I am 5' 6" and 125 lbs, 34C. My old jacket was an XS and did not allow me to wear anything other than a thin mid-layer under it. The OR Aspire small is much roomier and has longer sleves, which is appreciated. I was waffling between a small and medium and a medium would have been huge on me. Color is true to picture. What strikes me between the new and old jacket is that the new one is lighter and the fabric somewhat less stiff. Will up-date my review in the Spring when I have had a chance to test it out in the rain on Vancouver Island.

This jacket is great, and is cut larger to allow for layers underneath. I went to OutdoorResearch website, looked at their sizing charts, and ordered according to my measurements. The jacket fits great, with plenty of room for base-layers, fleece and puffy underneath. I love the full torso zip to adjust the jacket based on how much heat I want to dump or keep inside the jacket. It stuffs into its own pocket when not in use and doesn't take up much room at all in pack or tote. I also own the OR Aspire pants, and recommend them highly as well. I bought this to use for long distance backpacking, but also use it for everyday rain jacket.

This thing is so durable! I took it to the rainy season of Holland, Ireland, Scotland, and England, and I stayed dry and warm with a fleece underneath. It's also reasonably priced compared to similar performing raincoats. I tried a dozen raincoats before I found this one. A friend rode his bike down the Pacific coast for a month during the rainy winter, and this raincoat held up so well. Highly recommend this!I agree completely with the 3rd party reviews here: http://www.outdoorgearlab.com/Rain-Jacket-Womens-Reviews. If you're in the market for a rain jacket, they have tons of info.

Someone stole my previous jacket and I had to get a new one. Its the most lightweight, flattering perfect for backpacking jackets ive found. The pits have zippers that are so necessary for me when hiking. And I love that it isnt stiff like another rain jacket i have. Or too flimsy like the north face one I had that was only rain proof for a year. Hands down my favorite jacket for the elements. I have a very lightweight smaller puffy jacket that fits nicely under this jacket. But i would suggest going a size up with you plan on wearing a sweatshirt under for warmth.

This is my first Goretex jacket and since I've always had cheaper jackets, I was surprised there is no second layer / lining. They designed this thoughtfully, and I'm sure other reviews mention the hem to pit zips, the adjustments on the hood (side and back), the large mesh pockets, the cinching in the back to make it fit to your body. After walking the dog in it this morning, I'm dry, cool, and looking forward to wearing this jacket on trips and stowing it in the left pocket.

Really nice features. Shoulder pocket is larger than I expected -- I like a lot of pockets. Hood is easy to adjust and provides good coverage; the extended pit zips will come in very handy. I like that the sleeves have a little elastic as well as the Velcro closure. This jacket is a real bargain compared to other waterproof (especially Gore-Tex) jackets out there. I am 5'5" and 130 lbs. I took a medium -- it fits perfectly and would accommodate a pullover underneath.

I live in a very humid climate and the ability to fully vent the sides is so helpful when hiking. Would have given it five stars if I could fully stow the hood. The material is a bit stiff around the neck when the hood is not in use and it lies a bit oddly. Being able to stow the hood would alleviate this issue. Other than that a great jacket. I am 5' 8", 155 lbs and the Medium was great for me. Also loved the purple color.

Two days of 100% rainfall for hiking in Spain. This jacket kept me completely dry and warm. Loved it! I especially loved that when the weather did warm up, I was able to utilize the double zipper system. Kept me dry from the rain, warm from the cool weather and also easily transitioned into a jacket that kept my core wam but could still breathe easily from just opening the zippers.

Sometimes the zipper still catches after having it for over a year- but it is a very solid jacket that has gone all over the world with me during the past year and always keeps me dry. I particularly love the pocket space. It is not form fitting but I chose to get it on the larger side so I could fit plenty of layers underneath as needed.

Works great both around town and paddling on a lake in the rain. The hood stayed in place. The jacket also dries quickly. I also wore this jacket over a packable down jacket in cold weather. So glad I purchased this jacket. Although I liked the other colors I purchased the black so I could wear it with my work uniform also.

Great color. I am a little disappointed in the performance, so far. We have walked, not heavy hiking, in the rain and we still got sweaty, wet on the inside of the material. We'll see as we hike in Scotland if the performance overall is better than the last raincoat which felt like raining on the inside of the coat.

Love this jacket. If you are curvy (esp on top), order a size larger. All 3 main zippers are top/bottom. Both side zippers goes from pits to the very bottom. This jacket is straight down. If you have bigger hips, it will be tight, you just need to unzip from the bottom on the sides to gain extra hip room.

Extremely waterproof and really great outdoor rain jacket! Fit me perfectly. I am about 125lbs and wear a medium for woman's clothing. This jacket fit in the arms and across the hips and chest. The material is a bit thick, so there is warmth, but also it is just a little bulkier than I imagined.
