The dogs: mixed breed pound puppies, now adults, about 37 pounds. One with a hair coat similar to a Golder Retriever; the other similar to a Brittany.I have about 5 different Oster blades but none seemed to really work well when cutting off their winter coats. So I tried this one. It hasn't been off my clipper since I bought it. If you're just a dog owner that wants to keep your dog looking decent this is probably the blade for you. It cuts off thick winter coats easily and does a pretty decent job of trimming although I use barber scissors around the ears.If you're only going to own one blade this should probably be it. Oster makes a myriad of blades that all cut a little differently. You should consult their chart before buying a second blade to make sure you get the one specifically appropriate for what you might want to do. Some of their blades are designed for use on specific dog breeds.I once raised sheep and sheared them myself. You might want to bear this in mind as you weigh my comments.

We were at wits end trying to cut our mini goldendoodle's hair with the 3F. Even with brushing and washing him, he constantly gets knotted up and it was taking us 3+ hours to cut his hair because we kept having to stop and carefully scissor out knots so the 3F could get through, and in many sections the clippers just couldn't make it with the 3F or even the very short 7F that came with the clippers. We were about to give up on cutting his hair ourselves and this blade was our last shot.I won't call this blade a miracle, but it makes cutting his hair doable. I was fantasizing that this would be like shearing a sheep in 10 minutes, but it still takes us about 45 minutes to cut his hair every month. That said, this blade can make it through probably 95% of what we were scissoring before. There's still a few spots that we have to scissor, but WAY less than before. I would highly recommend this blade to anyone else struggling with the 3F.

I use this #3 skip blade when I am grooming my large golden doodles. They have thick curly hair and I use the #3F blade for most of their body, however in certain areas like around the lower neck area especially on the sides, their hair is really thick and this #3 skip blade goes through that area really fast where the #3F sometimes bogs down some. The blades on the Oster clippers swap off and on so easily. After I finish with the really thick areas I go over the area again with the #3F finishing blade. The cool lube keeps the blades from heating up also. The #3 blades give my dogs a nice summer cut without making them looked scalped which I don't want. I always use the clippers on clean, dry, combed through dogs and using the clippers cuts my time in 1/2 from doing the all scissor cut.

Goldendoodle grooming dream come true finally! Our goldendoodle has what seems like a three layer coat when it's left for longer than 8 weeks. It's a top coat of wirey curly fuzz, middle is course/thick, bottom is soft/curls....needless to say its a challenge to groom for those of us new to grooming and knowing what to buy. We went through a few purchases trying clippers and blades....but this #3 Skip Tooth along with the Oster Golden A5 was an affordable Goldendoodle grooming dream come true. Hoping it lasts awhile for us.Note: When we first put the blade on the clipper it was working really well but kept getting clogged and stopped trimming...had to take it off and screw it back on...it waspositioned incorrectly...something to watch for as its easy to do.

Every now and then, my two yorkie-poos need a little touch-up grooming in-between trips to the "beauty shop." I FINALLY broke down and bought this after trying to make do with just a #5 blade (a little longer cut) and a #10 Finishing Blade with clip-on plastic guides. There's absolutely NO comparison between using the "right blade for the job" and just doing your best with plastic guides. These metal teeth cut through hair safely with no hanging or tangling & the best part is there are no more "blade guides" to re-adjust or slip. These even work well around their faces. It's easy to change blade sizes (I also bought the CryogenX #5 about a year ago). This blade is compatible with both my Oster (

Good clipper for pets with thick hair coats. I have been grooming my own dogs for 15 years. I use this on my doodle. His hair can get matted terribly. This blade does a decent job of getting under the mats on his flatter surfaces; torso and thighs. It is difficult to use on curves, without the tines catching his skin or getting bogged down. Upper chest, underside of chin, armpits, backside, private areas, and feet are a challenge with this blade. After use, you will likely want to go back over their coat with a 3F blade, to even out the coat; even in a curly haired coat, like a doodle. Overall, a go to blade for me in the grooming process.

We have 2 large Labradoodles, & I have tried all sorts of blades. After doing some more research I discovered that using a skip tooth blade might really help. Several groomers forums recommended the skip tooth, but did emphasize the need to be careful with this type of blade, as it is easier to cut your dog. I have not found anything that works as well on these heavy coated dogs & am so glad that I went ahead and tried a skip tooth vs. the fine blades I was using. I plan on adding more sizes to my blade collection! The cryogen also stays cooler, but it would be nice to have 2 blades so you can change when one gets hot.

If you have a goldendoodle or a labradoodle, you know cutting their thick, curly hair can be a real challenge, especially when it is long. Not with this no. 3 blade. I took the dog's hair off in layers and it worked great. You can't try to take it off all at once, you have to go in layers, but this blade allows you to do it. The secret is the skip tooth. I had a no. 1 blade before, but it got way to close the skin. I then tried the plastic "clip on" combs with it. No dice. they got hung up in the thick hair. The skip tooth blade is perfect for hair like a goldendoodle.

Be sure to set this in firmly when you mount it; I returned one that I thought didn't fit when it was my fault. That said, I love the #3 skip tooth for clipping our Peke-a-poo. It will get through tiny matts another blade didn't and the cut length is just right to leave enough hair behind to look nice and keep her from getting cold in moderate temps. When clipping her head, I go against the fur grain for a closer cut; just perfect. Oster, of course, is a quality brand; what's not to like?! Now, if I could just get her used to being clipped...maybe in another 16 years!

They are certainly not the cheapest blade on the market and there are a small number of minor design faults to the system as a whole but they are certainly highly effective and fully do the job intended. Oster produce an exceptionally wide range of blades that are all very easy to fit and to use due to them being pre-tensioned and they do seem to keep their edge well. On a related note whilst the machine and blades aren't particularly cheap if you require other spares these are quite reasonably priced as many of them are small plastic mouldings.

I purchased my first pair of Oster clippers this week and I purchased this blade to go with it. I have to say it is excellent, cuts through hair like a knife through butter. I have a very old Golden Retriever who loves to swim and roll in mud. His hair is thick and matted(despite grooming) and to keep him comfy in the hot weather I used this blade which a lot of people moan about for a goldie as it is quite short. The whole job took 40mins, so quick and smooth. The blade doesnt get warm and the dog was comfrotable. Highy reccommend.

I have 5 mini wire dachshunds who hate being stripped and was costing me a fortune at the groomers..so 3yrs ago i invested in some oyster clippers and have never looked back...this is the 3rd replacement blade i have ordered from this supplier and i cant fault them at all..the blade lasts about 12months clipping 5 mini hounds about 12 times a year if not more....very sharpe no dragging or knicking of the skin..i keep it clean and well oiled..i would highly recommend this blade 5☆

I have some Oster clippers that are at least 20 years old. I was considering replacing because out seemed noisy and even though I had my blades sharpened, I wasn't always getting great results. But I was spending a lot on additional grooming equipment so decided to try this blade with some combs that happen to fit a size 30. What a difference! I'll probably buy another one of these blades just so I have an extra. I think my Oster clipper runs like new!

We bought the professional clippers, thinking that would do the job over our simple clippers...for our wolfhound / poodle cross. They were better got warm. Then we read from the clipper information that we needed a different blade. We bought this blade, WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE. The hair came right off, clipper did not get hot, the hair did not fill up the blade! WE are actually excited to trim our boy again!. This made all the difference.

Exactly as described, in original manufacture's packaging. As with most Oster blades they required adjusting for a better zero gap. I bought these after one of my plastic guide combs feel off while I was shaving my own head (rather quickly). Since I mainly use my clippers for myself I wanted a number 3 blade specifically for that task. It works great and now I don't have to worry about a plastic guide falling off while using my clippers!
