If you are looking at the Oral-B Genius 8900 pack you are most likely to be after a 'quality' brush set rather than an inexpensive everyday workhorse. That said, it is helpful to compare and consider brushes from the cheap end of the Oral-B line in order to best understand the range of features. The basic feature set for Oral-B electric rechargeable brushes can be found on the Oral-B Pro 2000, or if you prefer a more traditional rectangular(ish) head the Oral-B Trizone 2000. What they do is the basic cleaning pattern where they vibrate or jolt after 30s to move you on to the next quadrant of your mouth, and at the end of the fourth quadrant they vibrate/jolt several times to let you know you have finished. And that is essentially all they do. The battery life on them isn't fantastic, but they do the basic everyday job of cleaning your teeth with no fuss and no frills. But you are looking towards the upper end of the line with the 8900 pack. You get a lot more bells and whistles with these, but it is a bit of a mixed bag. Mostly good, but not all good. The plus points:You get two handles. Yes, you really do want a second handle for your partner because sharing one handle is not a good idea in general, but really does not work with the Oral B app.The handle feels nice in the hand. It is rubberised around the sides and back so it doesn't slip in your hand. It's not too chunky or too thin. It just feels good to hold in the hand and use. There are two buttons on the handle. One for turning it on and off, and one for cycling through the modes. This is much better than just having a single button for both power and mode cycling. The battery life is good. You get up to 12 days from one charge at 2 mins per session morning and night. That is a fair bit longer than you get from the bottom of the line brushes. You get a 'suction cup' holder for your phone/iPod Touch which is really rather useful. You might find yourself carrying it out to use in your car instead of your bathroom though! Some mixed points:Although having several cleaning modes is nice, for the most part you are likely to use either just the regular cleaning mode, or if you have very sensitive teeth, the sensitive mode. And you will get into the habit of just using that preferred mode essentially all the time. The white plastic travel coffin you get in the pack is not really a necessity. Sure if you travel all the time you might use it, but if you only travel once or twice per year you will likely forget you even have it and not get any use from it.You only get one plastic travel coffin yet two handles. You only get one set of brush heads yet two handles. The plastic case for holding the brush heads is a bit of a gimmick. I get the impression that the real purpose of it is to encourage you to buy a lot of brush heads, since in everyday use you are unlikely to be changing the brush head every time you go to clean your teeth. The Oral-B app (on both IOS and Android) is a bit of a mixed bag. It can be distracting rather than helpful to be messing around looking at your phone instead of concentrating on what you are doing with the brush in your mouth. The app has advertising for other Oral-B products in it, so in essence you buy a brush in order for Oral-B to push advertising at you.You might find the way in which the app 'encourages' you to keep track of your daily brushing is less FitBit style encouragement and more irritating childish nagging. After all, do you really need to keep track of your best 'daily brushing streak'?So the Oral-B Genius 8900 pack is good overall, but it is not perfect. It definitely is a quality brush (set) but you ought to have a look around at other 'top end' brushes and mull over the feature set before you commit to any particular one.

The Oral-B Genius 8900 electric toothbrush pack is a gift set containing two toothbrush handles of the Oral-B 8000 Genius type, plus three brush heads (why three??), one rapid charger with stand, one smartphone holder, and one travel case (minus the special travel charger feature which only comes with the 9000 range). While it is of course useful for a couple to have a twin pack, and it is certainly less costly than buying two separately, it does strike me as rather odd that the other items in the pack aren't duplicated too - particularly the charger, as although these handles have superior batteries than previous oral-b incarnations, they do still take up to twelve hours to charge, which could cause issues when sharing. The toothbrushes themselves are high-quality, as you would expect from this brand and from models close to the top of the range such as these. Both handles are identical, which again strikes me as a little odd since it would have been much easier to differentiate between them if they had made one handle a different colour, but instead you have to rely upon the tiny coloured rings at the base of the brush heads to identify your brush, or use the app to program the brushes to have different coloured light rings around the top (although this wouldn't be evident until you started brushing, and too late if you've got someone else's brush in your mouth!).These brushes are different to and superior from previous models primarily by virtue of their improved batteries - they charge much more quickly, and retain their charge for over a week - and by the fact they can be connected to the Oral-B app on a smartphone via bluetooth to track and monitor your brushing, including the flagship new 'position detection' feature in the app, which uses the front-facing camera and microphone on an Android or iPhone (newer models only of the Android phones, I am unsure if this is the same with the iPhone version) to watch you brushing and tell you if you are missing areas/focussing too much on others. While this is an excellent idea, the app quality lets it down in practice. I have an Android phone, and the app is decidedly glitchy, not to mention absolutely enormous (it took up over 130MB of memory). Getting the toothbrush to connect with the app is extremely hit and miss currently, hopefully future updates will resolve this. The comments on the app in the Google Play store make it clear that I am not by any means alone in having these issues. Given the amount of space used up by the app, I have uninstalled it for now and shall try again in the future. The app requires you to attach your smartphone to a vertical tiled or mirrored surface in the bathroom, and requires you to stand directly in front of it so that the camera has a straight view, which makes me nervous as it entails having one's expensive phone suspended over water and ceramic/tiled surfaces, all of which have the potential to damage it beyond repair. While the brushes are excellent without using the gimmicky bluetooth features - cleaning your teeth effectively should be the primary aim, after all, and they definitely do that, while clearly indicating if you are applying too much pressure - it is a shame that the app is performing so poorly as it means that the premium charged for these Genius brushes is rather wasted. Hopefully this shall be resolved soon. Great quality brushes, nonetheless.

I am a long-term user of Braun/Oral-B electric toothbrushes having been converted more than 20 years ago when I realised I was scrubbing too hard with ‘manual’ brushes and giving myself receding gums. It didn’t take long after switching to see and feel that Oral-B brushes give a far superior clean to manual, with less effort, and they warn via an emitted LED warning light if you’re applying too much pressure. If only I’d learned earlier….This ‘Genius’ model is the best I’ve used by Oral-B. It arrives very well presented in a ‘special edition’ box and, compared to other toothbrushes, it does feel rather special. It’s far from being a typical electric toothbrush with a typically plastic feel. This brush has a sleek handle with non-slip silicone rubber grip to the rear, silver front and an illuminated display to show its various modes: daily clean, ‘Pro Clean’ (this is fast and feels like the professional scale and polisher used in dental surgeries), ‘Sensitive’ mode (slower), ‘3D white’ (polishing mode) and a ‘Gum care’ mode.Unlike all other Oral-B brushes I’ve used, this pack includes two handles so my husband and I can have one each. Although we have our own individual brush heads, this is a very welcome move – we’ve never really been too comfortable about sharing a toothbrush. Three brush heads are included: ‘Cross Action’ which is excellent for reaching between teeth, Sensitive and a new ‘3D white’ which I’ve never used previously but found comfortable in all modes. All of the brushes have small, compact heads which will comfortably reach all areas of the mouth to give teeth (and gums) an effective clean with none of the gagging feeling associated with larger brush heads. A single charger, brush head holder (holds 4), travel case (great bonus addition) and suction-mounted smartphone holder are also included.I have some reservations about the phone holder. It works well, adheres to tiles and holds my 5” screen phone securely but I have concerns about using a smartphone in a bathroom or shower room. These rooms are notoriously damp and can be steamy which is not the best environment for using a smartphone. It takes only one drop of water, condensation or even high humidity to get into a phone’s electronics and cause significant damage. Manufacturers often include a strip of litmus paper inside phones and if this detects any sign of moisture and a phone is returned for a warranty repair, the warranty can be void even if the actual damage is not water-related. It is a risk so, personally, I am only happy using my smartphone in the shower room if the room is completely dry or my phone is in my pocket. I would not leave my phone in there so have chosen not to use the supplied phone holder to ensure the phone doesn’t accidentally get left there. This issue aside, which will not affect those using the brush in a non bathroom/shower room setting, the brush remains the best I’ve used.

ORAL B======I've used 'top end' Oral B toothbrushes before. I've never been disappointed with the ability to clean, but have been saddened by their battery life. The new Genius range seems to remedy that. The 8000 has a claimed capacity of over two weeks. So far so good. I'll update this if it doesn't maintain this after a few months. I have used both Oral B and Sonicare. I can't fault the Sonicare (although the heads are a little more expensive) although I prefer the Oral B.STYLISH=======On opening the box, it's like opening a new gadget. Sleek, modern and cool.CLEANING=========It's really effective. There is a difference between the £20 models and the top end. This model also includes bluetooth (more of which to come later in the review...) Even if the bluetooth doesn't appeal it's a very efficient piece of kit: good battery, superb cleaning and is solidly made.IMPROVEMENTS===============My last Oral B toothbrush was an expensive one but this is clearly better. This slows down if you brush too hard. The last one simply flashed red. (this does that too)as well as flashing red, if you brush too hard. The travel case is much better. The battery length is great. 12-14 days, twice a day... so far.Lots of different modes of brushing. The app is quite good.THE CONS=========Lots of modes of cleaning but I only really use the one.The phone holder isn't beautiful. OK, But not beautiful. The bluetooth app means you need your phone to check the brushing 'feedback'BLUETOOTH==========I've used the app and I don't prefer it over the old little plastic clock thing. It looks better but is, for me, a bit gimmickyWhat I do like is the ability to track the progress. However, it's a little like the fitbit things, "oh look how many steps I've done.." I hate fitbits or those health wrist monitors. Time will tell if I start to hate this app...It can track habits over time, motivates reluctant brushers and senses with the brush if you brush too hard.MODES=======Daily Clean, Gum Care, Sensitive, Whitening, Pro-CleanThe blurb says, "Daily Clean operates with 3D movement for a basic, everyday clean. Gum Care features massage mode for the gentle stimulation of gums. Sensitive operates at a lower speed to gently clean teeth and gums. Whitening alternates between speeds for a gentle polishing on the tooth surface to remove surface stains. Pro-Clean extends your brushing time for an even more comprehensive clean."OVERALL========I like the brush, I like the style and most of all I like the battery length. I've not been blown away with the app and the bluetooth. It's not a reason for not buying it, it simply doesn't appeal to me. But, for its primary job: cleaning teeth- it's a really good brush. The single pack is available here Oral-B Genius 8000 Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush Powered by BraunHope this helps.

The “Oral-B Genius 8900 Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush Powered by Braun” is a top of the range model that is claimed to be Oral-B's best toothbrush ever – and that may be just about be right. This is a Special Edition pack that actually contains two of the rechargeable handles – which helps to explain the premium price but does make for much better value compared against buying the two individually. The Cross Action brush-head is my current favourite for everyday use, although these handles will accept most of the Oral-B range of heads, and you get three included in this special package; Cross Action, Sensitive Clean and 3D White.Nowadays everything you buy seems to be “Bluetooth-enabled” and that applies to these toothbrush handles– you could say it is a Bluetoothbrush! Whether that is a genuinely useful feature or not is a bit debatable – but I can see it might be a way of getting the kids to take more of an interest in their dental care if they can use an app on their Smartphone for doing it.The Oral-B Genius 8900 is a very high quality model and has all the features that most people really need and then plenty more to suit just about any other need. There are five different modes - daily clean, gum care, sensitive, whitening and pro-clean; these are all features that can prove useful - I'm still deciding about the Bluetooth! I use Cross Action or Floss Action heads most of the time but if you prefer something different then all of the following Oral-B replacement brush heads are compatible with this handle: Cross Action, TriZone, Floss Action, 3D White, Precision Clean, Sensitive Clean, Dual Clean, Power Tip, and Ortho.I've tried a number of different brands and models of electric toothbrushes over the years but the Braun/Oral B system is still my favourite by a long way, and this new Genius 8900 package is a great value addition to their range. If you don't need the Bluetooth features, or the second handle, then a cheaper model may suit you better; the Bluetooth connectivity could prove to be more useful than I currently think, and at the current price of under two hundred pounds from Amazon it represents decent value. As well as two handles and three brush-heads you also get Oral-B's best ever battery and a premium travel case.

This package is similar to the Oral-B 8000, but with two toothbrush bodies -- very useful for families, as well as for individuals; use one while the other one is charging. Each toothbrush includes some great technological features and has a marvellous design. That said, some of its many features are a bit overkill for my taste. Even so, there are enough solidly useful features here to impress. The toothbrush has a nice white rubberised and plastic body, and feels good to hold. The buttons are easy to press and the feedback from the lights and symbols on the handle is clear and intuitive. I particularly like the pressure warning light, which lights up all the way around the handle, making it very easy to notice (see video).Like all Oral-B toothbrushes in this range, this one is compatible with the various Oral-B brush heads, such as the TriZone, Floss Action and Cross Action, which is my preferred one.Included in the box are a charger and cable, toothbrush stand, smartphone holder, and three assorted brush heads, and travel case. All seem of nice quality and work well, though the travel case isn’t as impressive as the smart charging case that comes with the 9000 model. The main charger will fully charge the toothbrush in around 12 hours, which is relatively fast compared to others lower in the range, and means you can fully charge between morning and evening brushing. The charge lasts about 12 days, brushing twice a day, which again is better than many other models. The app and Bluetooth connectivity is innovative. I’d used it on previous Oral-B toothbrushes, and had been slightly underwhelmed. With this toothbrush (and the more advanced and pricy 9000), the integration with the app seems much more advanced and fruitful. Even so, I find it too much effort to use the app continuously; but I find it useful to use it occasionally to refresh my brushing technique. You can use the app to get a lot of feedback about your brushing, as well as to control and configure many of the features on the toothbrush. Also, with this toothbrush, you get the smartphone holder, which does a really good job of securing your phone to the bathroom mirror, keeping it safe from splashes or slipping out of wet hands.

I've never been a fan of electric tooth brushes, I have always preferred a good scrub with a proper brush, or so I thought. I had the Braun 5000 series (older model) and have always been really happy with it, my wife and son have always pinched it, so Its been a family brush.First Impression on receipt is a nice looking box oozing quality, make an idea present. It comes with three heads, two tooth brushes, perhaps a his and her’s, a stand for the brush and spaces for spare heads. Two handles?, does save having to swap heads when you have more than one person using the tooth brush, or ideal if you are a traveller, and can pop one in an over night bag, again will save having to remember to take the one from the bathroom. The big feature with this series is the bluetooth feature, you down load an app on your phone and can manage how well you brush your teeth, to help you perfect your cleaning and whitening routine. You will need to take the phone with you in to the bathroom which does worry me with the water around.Main thing is the performance of the cleaning and brushing, I’ve had the brush now for over a week, I wanted to make sure I didn't just like the brush for a novelty gadget rather than something that did a good job.I love it, really love it, I was sure I wasn't going to like but it is great, the motion is perfect, early ones I’ve had, not Braun have made my head vibrate, just like the old braun this is amazing, how they can continue to make things better is beyond me, but they have with this one.I’m not sure I’ll use the bluetooth feature, my lad of 12 thinks its amazing, which is great as he can’t wait to brush his teeth, just got to make sure the phone is in the holder supplied. The noise is as I would expect, I have also only charged it the once and it is still showing 2 lights out of three after a week of using it twice a day.Its an expensive brush but I think it is worth spending that little bit more, it works for me and I had tried the lower priced brushes and didn't like them.

Excellent toothbrushesPack contains 2 toothbrushes, charger base with storage for spare heads, phone holder and 3 different heads. I actually really appreciated getting one of each different type of head to try as I often wonder how much difference they make and which would suit me best, but investing a complete pack when you're not sure is a gamble.I did go through the Bluetooth set up and try out the phone holder, but in reality I am not going to do this very often - I know how to clean my teeth. I do think it would be excellent for children or teens though with the potential for linking in to game rewards or similar.Or if your dentist has recommended changing your existing brushing method. You can set the colour band to your chosen colour but this doesn't show until you switch the brush on so, if you are using both bases in the family, you would still need to use those little coloured rings that come with heads to distinguish brushes. The really useful thing for me has been that the band turns red when you are brushing if you are pressing too hard - turns out I do this quite a lot so it's great that I can now modify my brushing and get it right.First time I used it I did get that 'wow! Really clean!' feeling. My old brush was starting to lose charge quickly so this was a real improvement. Battery life on this seems really good so far. I like the case that comes with the second brush which will be handy for travel.Overall very impressed. Is it worth the money? Probably not unless you plan on using the Bluetooth connectivity and brushing guide. Although do bear in mind you are getting two brushes and the price is much lower than for 2 individual brushes.

This toothbrush really has more features than the average person will want or need, but if you wish to be as technologically advanced as possible in the area of tooth brushing, then this is a great purchase. The bluetooth-enabled toothbrush will sync with your phone and through the Oral-B app you can record and monitor your tooth brushing - if this is something you wish to do! This might be particularly helpful for reluctant teenage brushers. At the moment the app requires updating to work on my phone so I can't comment on its effectiveness, but it sounds like it will help to show any areas in the mouth that are getting missed with regular brushing, which should help to prevent cavities.Bluetooth and apps aside, this is a great toothbrush which has some excellent features such as the light up pressure sensor that should help to prevent over-brushing. Like my previous Oral-B toothbrush it's comfortable to hold, easy to use, has a variety of modes and provides a thorough clean that leaves your teeth feeling smooth and fresh. The new battery can hold at least 12 days worth of charge which means no more having to take my charger on holiday!Overall it's an excellent toothbrush, and the fact that you get two handles provided is really useful, either if a couple want to both have one, or if one user wants a back up handle for when the other is charging. It definitely improves the value for money (though if you're not interested in the more advanced technology features then you'll still be paying more than necessary for a good electric toothbrush).

Oral-B Genius 8900 Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush Powered by Braun - Two Handle PackIn the box.Two battery powered (rechargeable) tooth brushes,Charger base,Storage case,Selection of heads.Special features. These have speed control which slows the head when it goes over gums. The brushes themselves are very well made and nice to hold, solid but not too heavy. The will also Bluetooth link to an app which charts your brushing history and produces recommendations on how to clean better. I think this is a bit of a gimmick for me but I can see children loving it as it is very high tech.App.The app will load quickly and will work with IOs and Android, there is a version for each.Cleaning.These may be expensive but they give the best clean I have ever had. The gum control mode works really well, no more sore gums. If you use the app it feedbacks your technique and how to modify it to get better cleaning performance – it’s all very clever !Modes. There are several cleaning modes including whitening. This mode really works and over the two week I have been using this brush my teeth are whiter by quite a degree. There is also a charge level indicator. I find one charge does between 4 and 5 days depending on the mode used.Overall.Clever brushes that really do a much better job than traditional single speed tooth brushes. The heads are designed to get the best cleaning performance. If you want to look after your teeth then these should be on your list as they are state of the art cleaning machines.

The. Oral-B 8900 is as good quality as I have come to expect from all Oral-B products. The double set comes in an attractive presentation box and looks high spec. There are 2 toothbrush handles, 3 heads ( why not 4?), 1 rapid charger with a stand, 1 smartphone holder and 1 travel case. There is no travel charger with this model. Another rapid charger would be handy as if 2 people are using 2 different handles, surely it puts double the demand on the need to charge. It still takes a good 12 hours to fully charge up the brushes and, in my experience, the performance of the toothbrushes declines as they need charging. So another charger might have been ideal. The Bluetooth feature is a novelty and I can imagine that children and teenagers will be more interested in this than us "grown ups".....it times your brushing...but the brushes themselves do that....and there is guidance and instructions also. If it gets kids to brush their teeth better and more often, that can only be a great thing!Another niggle is that the toothbrushes themselves are identical. If it's being bought for a couple... or 2 children say.... surely it would have helped to differentiate between them so you instantly know which one belongs to whom.A great set though and it works out cheaper than buying 2 separate brushes ....I just wish the company had doubled up on chargers and presented 2 different looking toothbrushes.

These, like all Oral-B toothbrushes (even the low-priced ones) clean teeth exceptionally well, and this one, with the spare handle, will either last twice as long (!) or can be shared with a partner. This version also has a long-life battery, which makes it great for taking on holiday if you don't want to take the charger (and taking two fully charged handles would see you through even a longer holiday). We keep ours sitting on its charger in the bathroom, so the battery is constantly being topped up.The app and mobile phone holder might well appeal – it’s what sets this model apart. What initially seemed a gimmick to me is far from that. You first need to download the app to your Android or Apple phone (not Windows phones, sadly), then, using the suction holder, clip your phone to the bathroom mirror and you are then "video-guided" as you look into the phone and mirror. The app uses face-recognition and guides the brushing of each part of the mouth regarding both time and pressure. If you press too hard, the handle glows red and the speed automatically reduces. All-in-all the app works as a kind of training device and once you’ve perfected your brushing technique, it’s much less needed. In terms of value for money, then this is at the luxury end of the Oral-B range and so offers various little extras - it certainly looks the part and, with the app, is as hi-tech as brushing can get.

This is all really rather romantic. Two brush handles and three heads (why?) means we have a couple of really great toothbrushes for him and her, him and him, her and her, or her and it (if you have a dog or or a rhesus monkey). We all know how good Oral B Brushes are - they deliver peak performance ;charge these up and use the oscillating action for the thorough removal of plaque. With 5 cleaning modes (Daily Clean; Gum Care; Sensitive; Whitening ; and Pro-Clean) these suit pretty much everybody (maybe not my dad who cleans his in a jar). You can download the Oral B App which 'Blulinks' the toothbrushes to your phone and the app guides you towards the most optimal cleaning routine.Except Icouldn't get the phone to connect to the brush (might be my phone as other people seem to manage).Comes with a charger - of course - and a travel case. All in all in economy of scale this is not bad. Oral B is top notch in the world of dental care and you have to pay for the best. And at the end of the day my teeth felt fantastically clean after this. However the monkey hit me with a toilet brush and jumped out of the window.Oh well, you win some....

"Oral-B's Best Toothbrush Ever", is what they say. And it's hard to disagree. This product is more packed with features and technology than you would have thought was possible with an electric toothbrush.Firstly the unit has a fantastic feel of quality. It is not too heavy, and has a lovely tactile feel to it that makes it easy to hold. As well as a nicely designed carry case, a USB charger and a phone holder, this set comes with two power units, making it extremely good value when compared to a single unit. As well as the expected timer and pressure sensor, the unit has five brushing modes (sensitive, whitening cleaning, etc)so you can configure it to give you the thoroughness of clean that is right for you and your teeth. In practice it gives you an incredibly thorough clean. You can really sense that it gets right in between your teeth and gums, but it never feels harsh, and the pressure sensor prevents you from over-brushing. This is an exceptional toothbrush that is pretty much as good as it gets,

When it comes to the electric toothbrush it appears manufacturers are at their wits end when it comes to creating differentiation.Sot the difference with this one is the holder you put on the bnathroom mirro and the blue tooth connection that allows you to monitor how you brush the different quadrants of your mouth (you need to download it seperately and there are android and apple versions). A good idea but really and turly am much more interestedin the functionality of the brush. It is very good with five different modes - I'll end up only using a couple but if you are very intooral care you have a good selection.Where it is really good is one the length of the battery charge, and that on this set you get two brush handles.Brilliant if you are a couple with one of you going away for a few days or if you have a couple of children who are into sleepovers. Also really liked the travel case that comes as part of the set.
