First of all, I would like to say that prior to this, I have used Oral-B 6000 for 8 months. In some parts of this review, I will be comparing my old 6000 to 8000. It has now been 2 weeks since I have started actively using Oral-B Genius 8000.--------------------------------Comparison to 6000, My Previous Brush--------------------------------The 8000 version is lighter than 6000. It has a SmartRing that older versions don’t have. It is slimmer and more elegant. The lights and icons on it are slightly different. They both use the same brush heads as the majority of Oral-B electric toothbrushes do. Both brushes have two buttons on them, on/off switch and Bluetooth sync/Mode change button.I find that the battery level lights up on my 6000 only sometimes, while on 8000 you can always tell the battery status.--------------------------------Comparison to Oral-B Genius 9000--------------------------------• 9000 comes in black colour as well as white. 8000 comes only in white. The brush heads are only sold in white though.• 9000 comes with one extra toothbrush refill - the Floss Action one.• 9000 has a Tongue Cleaning mode, however, I think brushing your tongue with Sensitive mode that the 8000 and older brushes have is enough.• 9000 has a Premium Travel Case that can charge your toothbrush and your smartphone. These above should be all the differences. It is up to you if you want to pay extra for the 9000 version. At the moment it is only £10 difference so not much if you want more fancy.--------------------------------No More Smart Guide--------------------------------Some of the previous toothbrushes from Oral-B come with a small device called the Smart Guide. What it does is after you sync it with your toothbrush, it tracks your brushing time, brushing modes and in the end of your brushing session, it rates your session with 1 to 5 stars on the screen. If you are familiar with it, I would just like to point out that 8000 and 9000 do not come with it.--------------------------------Charging--------------------------------I find that leaving the toothbrush charging overnight is sufficient for full charge. If you want, you can keep your brush on the charging stand at all times so it always has full battery. A full charge should last 12 days of regular use (2x 2 minutes every day). 8000 and 9000 have better batteries than previous brushes from Oral-B.--------------------------------Accessories--------------------------------• Travel case for your brush and two brush heads• Case with a transparent cover for 4 brush heads that works with the charging stand• 3 brush heads: Sensitive, CrossAction and 3D White• Charging stand with bathroom/EU plug - you might need an adapter• Wall/Mirror Mount ‘Smartphone holder’--------------------------------Using the App--------------------------------The app is easy to use and now it has been updated to work with 8000 and 9000. You can start journeys, for example plaque fighting, gum health, whitening etc. It tracks your brushing sessions when connected to your phone using Bluetooth. If you skip using the app during brushing, the next time you use it, it syncs the previous sessions. After brushing, it reminds you to clean your tongue, floss (evening only) and rinse with mouthwash. You can also use the app to change your SmartRing colour. Another interesting thing is achievements that you gain for completing journeys, being consistent with your brushing habits, etc.--------------------------------360º SmartRing--------------------------------You can pick one of 12 colours for your 360º SmartRing. I have attached a picture that shows all the colours so have a look if you wish! The colours look better in real life but I did my best to capture them on the camera. It also serves as an indicator of putting too much pressure while brushing. If you do that, the ring will be red and the brush will slow down.--------------------------------Brushing Modes--------------------------------There are two ways to manage brushing modes. If you select a journey, only the modes included in it will be available during the journey. You can add more modes to your brush by going into Settings, where you can see all 5 modes. If you add all of them, the brush will switch to those modes by pressing the arrow button, in the same order as on screen. So if you, for example, have 3 modes enabled, Sensitive, Massage and Whitening, the brush would start in Sensitive mode, pressing the button once would bring it to Massage mode, another press would change the mode to Whitening and another press would start Sensitive mode again. The brush has icons so you can see which mode is currently active. If none has light on, the Daily Clean mode is running, as that one has no icon on the brush.• Sensitive -- I use this one as my teeth can’t take any more hardcore mode. I find it a little less effective but at least my teeth don’t hurt. It is noticeably less powerful.• Daily Clean -- You can use this every day, obviously. Unless your teeth are too sensitive.• Gum Care -- Gentle mode for gum cleaning and massage. It should be used after normal brushing.• Whitening -- Combine this with the 3D White brush head and start the Whitening journey.• Pro-Clean/Deep Clean -- Suitable if you want your brain vibrated out of your head. Powerful mode for those times where you want to make sure your mouth is extra clean.--------------------------------Oral-B Toothbrush Heads--------------------------------You can get these here for £12ish or less if you subscribe but you should be able to find them everywhere. More than £15 for a pack of 4 is overpriced in my opinion. These are all Oral-B heads compatible with Oral-B Genius 8000:• Sensitive - Gentle brush that I use personally as my teeth are very sensitive. The soft bristles are suitable for gums, too.• Floss Action - It has 4 soft, rubber flossing sticks that help remove plaque. I find that it hurts my gums so I do not use it.• CrossAction - Suitable for daily clean for those who do not have too sensitive teeth. CrissCross technology is effective at removing plaque along the gum line and between teeth.• Precision Clean - The basic one, very plain, usually very cheap in shops, personally I would not even consider it when you can use CrossAction or Sensitive for daily brushing.• Dual Clean - Two brushes in one, one rotates and the other one move side to side. Another brush head that is not so amazing compared to others.• Power Tip - Great for braces and areas between teeth, not suitable as a toothbrush head to do the whole brushing session with, though.• 3D White - This one you would use on your Whitening journey, it has a polishing cup in the middle to remove stains on teeth. Might hurt gums if used on them.• Ortho - Suitable for those with braces or orthodontic work.• TriZone - Good for daily brushing and gum care.--------------------------------Wall / Mirror Smartphone Mount--------------------------------My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S5 and I keep it in a leather flip case. To use it with the wall/mirror mount, I have to take it out of the case each time. VERY annoying and I dislike having my phone bare and unprotected.Occasionally during teeth brushing, splashes happen. With my phone mounted in front of me, I find that these toothpaste and water splashes end up on my phone. I am not a huge fan of that.Everytime I use the wall/mirror mount, I am worried that it will scratch my phone. It is hard to stretch the holder on each side while trying to put the phone in it. I do not find the whole process simple or painless at all.--------------------------------Position technology experience--------------------------------One major flaw is that while it tracks your mouth as a circle with six equal sized parts - upper front teeth, upper left side teeth, upper right side teeth and same for lower teeth, you can hold the toothbrush in one place on one tooth and it still counts as brushing the whole area. If you got the brush to track your kids’ brushing habits, it can be easily cheated.Basically it is supposed to make sure you do not miss any area of your mouth but in reality it does not work that well, especially if you move your head away from the camera for a few seconds.I have to be honest and say I am not a fan of it. While the app is easy to use and I am familiar with it as I used it for my 6000, it is such a hassle and it is uncomfortable. It requires you to brush your teeth standing in the same position without moving your head for the whole brushing session, so your phone’s camera can see where you are brushing. Also I am a messy brusher and I prefer facing the sink rather than mirror or my phone.*********************Pros...- Your dentist will be happy- Super clean teeth, healthy gums- Ability to track your brushing habits- Position technology might be enjoyable for you- Many brush heads, everyone can find a suitable oneCons...- Much more expensive that previous versions- Wall/mirror mount sometimes falls off - might damage phone- Position technology does not work so well- Brush heads costs might be higher than new manual brush each timeConclusion: If I had to repurchase, I would go with 6000, as I do not like what 8000 and 9000 bring. For an average user, even 4000 might be enough. If you think my review was helpful, please do click 'Yes' below, it would be great to know that someone has found this information useful. Reviewing is my hobby! Also feel free to ask questions here in comments, I will reply within 24 hours.

Oral-B Genius powered by BraunThe back storyI stopped using manual toothbrushes a long time ago when my dentist insisted I invest in an electric toothbrush. It seemed daunting at first with so many choices out there and a huge price range to choose from. After some initial research and some recommendations, I settled for a nippy, simple Braun electric toothbrush that was within my budget at the time. In the world of cars, I would compare this to getting a Nissan Micra as my first car after passing. Small, reliable and getting the job done. However as I got older my dental needs started to change and to cut a long story short I needed more from my humble toothbrush.Coming back to the car analogy,At this moment in time I was on the lookout for the Dental version of an Audi Q7, (for those of you feeling a bit lost, I needed an all singing dancing toothbrush). Visiting the dentist had become a nightmare and I could no longer change/delay my next appointment date.A new discoveryIn answer to my prayers, the good people at Supersavvyme have selected me to trial the new Braun Oral-B Genius 8000 Electric Toothbrush! The piece of gadget claims to 'Like having a dentist at home' (ooooo I wouldnt mind a bit of that...) due to the following:1. The world’s first brush with Position Detection Technology, it sees where you have brushed to guide you as a dentist would.2. With a dentist-inspired round head and superior oscillating-rotating and pulsating technology, it is clinically proven to clean better than the Sonicare Diamond Clean and Colgate A1500 toothbrushes.3. The GENIUS features automatic speed reduction, which slows down the brushing speed if you brush too hard.4. Oral-B’s most premium brush ever, it features a new handle design, longer battery life, an LED SmartRing customisable in 12 colours.Unpacking the product and my initial reactionsThe toothbrush and its accessories come in a nine inch square box. There is quite a bit to take in at first and lots to see. It was quite exciting, but also seemed like there was so much to do before I could actually go onto brushing my teeth. However after a quick fumble with the items, I was quickly able to derive that all I needed to do was download an app, choose a toothbrush head and brush away as the toothbrush already came pre-charged. the head was super easy to slot on and off, something that was a problem with my previous toothbrushes, therefore I only swapped between heads if I absolutely had to.When I switched on the toothbrush, it looked really funky and a lit up in a cool whitish silver colour! This may sound babyish, but I felt really good owning such a piece of technology, lol! Some more cool featuresThe Oral-B GENIUS comes complete with five different modes to allow you to customize your oral health routine to best meet your individual needs.Daily Clean: Specifically designed with dentists' recommendations in mind, with a 2-minute clean split into four 30-second bursts to ensure you take care of every area of your mouth.Sensitive: Designed for those with extra sensitivities, this mode operates at a slower speed for gentle cleaning of sensitive areas.Pro Clean: Maximise your brushing experience. Your teeth could feel as clean as if you'd just paid the hygienist a visit.Gum Care: Over brushing can have negative effects on your gums, this mode offers a gentle massage to stimulate your gum tissue.Whitening: Want super white pearly whites? The brush ranges in speeds to give your teeth the ultimate polishTime to testMy last dentist visit was a couple of weeks ago and I have been booked in again in 4 weeks time. The feedback I received wasn't very pleasant, (too embarrassing to write down...) so anyway I hope to use the Braun Oral-B Genius 8000 exactly as it has been recommended and hope to get some good feedback from my dentist on my next visit. For me that would be ultimate passing of the gadget test, my dentist's frown 'turned upside down', (a smile).to be continued... (fingers crossed)---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------2 weeks later: My thoughtsReally enjoying how easy and fun it is to brush my teeth using this innovative brush. The app downloaded onto my phone, but I was unable to open it, not sure whats wrong with it. I'm not too fussed as the brush can store data from upto 20 brushing sessions so hope to look at everything in one go.3 weeks later: My thoughtsI can feel that my mouth is healthier than it was a few weeks ago, without going to dentist. There was one spot near my top gum that usually bled when the brush touched it, but thats stopped, (thankfully). My mouth also feels really fresh between the brushing sessions. My teeth seem whiter too, (but that might just be my imagination, I really cant remember hgow they looked before...)4 weeks later:Will be coming soon... ?

The Oral-b Genius 8000 toothbrush is the latest model in our 20 year relationship. An evolution of their classic rotating and pulsing head toothbrush. The handle of the Genius 8000 resembles the Genius X I reviewed last year. Functionally they offer the same excellent range of brushing modes - the primary difference between the (more expensive) X model included hardward to monitor how you brushed your teeth whilst the 8000 relies on the camera in your phone. The newer thicker handles feel better in your hand than the older thinner ones; and the battery life is improved. Charging on the 8000 is unfortunately via a mains charger rather than USB. It does use the standard braun contactless charger.Hopefully these will flip to Qi or USB charging in some future version so we can stop travelling with the chargers. On a recent trip the battery lasted me all 9 days of double daily brushing. The handle offers 6 brushing modes, including Gum Care, Sensitive, Whitening and Tongue Cleaning. These are accessed via a dedicated mode button; i generally leave mine of the vigorous diamond mode; which i think is aimed at improving tooth whitening. In the past Oral-b included a variety of heads to try; this pack had 3. I think is a fairly new brush head style - i dont remember trying the sensi ultra thin head before. It is a great design with combination softer bristles to protect gums and hard bristles for your teeth. I have found over the past year it does a good job and doesn’t cause any sensitivity or grind your gums.Unfortunately Oral-B quote performance against standard toothbrush heads and not against each head so its impossible to decide which is actually the best brush out of their options; so getting some choices lets you make a personal decision. The difference in performance is small as the power and battery state of the handle makes most of the difference.Last years stand out change with the Geniux X was the app. This is available on the 8000; and in the box is a mirror mount so you can use the optical tracking technology. The brush connects to the app via bluetooth to measure timing and know you are brushing; but used with the 8000 series the app uses the camera to record how you brush and judge your technique. The app still hasn’t reached what i consider the vital threshold of knowing who is brushing their teeth and reporting when your kids aren’t doing a good job but one day...It does tell you are doing a good job and attempts to gamify it with rewards and scores; and if you are obsessed with your health you can sync brush times into apple healthkit. To use the app you need to brush your teeth with the app running nearby; and so long as you keep your head level and inline of your phone camera it figures out where in your mouth you are brushing (front /back, inside/ outside and top/ bottom and reports that you have met their standard. The first few times i used the brush it took me upwards of 3 minutes to achieve this (and one day i had super sensitive gums as a result.) After a week of using it i either learnt to game the system or improved how i was brushing my teeth and got the super happy smiley face at the end of 2 minutes. The reinforcement of the app will be a great assistant in teaching kids to brush their teeth; and reinforcing that you are doing it all over and not favoring one spot. This should stop your dentist complaining that you aren’t covering all your mouth. Also in the box is a brush holder for your bathroom; which will be handy if you are sharing the brush handle amongst multiple people. You also get a plastic travel case - this has no charginga features unlike the genius x (though the Genius X case is pointless as it doesn’t use USB to charge the case rather it uses a proprietary cable.I have been using Philips sonicare toothbrushes behind the back of my Oral-B one when i travel for a couple of years as they offer USB charging. This case isnt going to change that outside of using the brush for this review. The charge cable needs a a 1Amp socket and these are becoming scarce in hotels which means travelling for more than 10 days you will need the charging dock in your bag.I have been loyal to the braun/ oral b toothbrushes since the 90's. The oral b brush design makes it super easy to access all your teeth and the combination spinning and pulsing seems to leave a better clean than the Sonicare brushes. Braun need to sort out the recharging situation and drag themselves into 2020 - a usb/ Qi charging toothbrush case would be the only way to make these truly all year brushes for me.That gripe aside the 8000 is a very good brush; it has the same look and cleaning modes as the more expensive handle from last year. In use I cant tell the difference (bar having to look at my phone) and the clean result is the same. The app makes brushing feel like your dentist is watching you do it which is a good thing; though your satisfaction with that may vary.

Off the bat, I will be clear that I received this model as part of a demonstration but I’ve no affiliation with Oral-B or Braun (the brand and maker of the tooth brush). That being said I’ve a lot of praise for raising their collective game to improve on my previous electric toothbrush experiences, I’m currently an Oral B 6000 owner, and we’ve also had a short lived stint with a Philips Sonicare model.Out of the box my model was ready to go, others may find their model needs charging but as I was part of a trial this may be different to a standard user experience. The box contained the standard instructions, some different heads that aimed at helping you achieve the results you desire with your teeth, the handset (obviously), a basic carry case for traveling purposes, a stand with space for up to four spare heads, the charging kit (this can be used in conjunction with the stand) and a mirror clamp – more on that later.Turning on and moving through the different types of cleaning cycles is very easy, as there are only two buttons on the handset it’s really easy both turning on the product or changing between the programmes. There’s a series of LED lights on the front of the handset and this will illuminate the relevant setting as you move between them with ease, it’s really fool proof. To really make full use of this handset, and this is where I believe they have coined the phrase “Genius” from, you need to download the Oral B app from the appropriate appstore and press one button on the handset to connect it via Bluetooth. This was achieved on my first go, and it’s not dropped connectivity since. The app opens up a few nice to have customisation options such as the ability to change the colour of the led that informs you that a thirty second cycle is up, it’s not going to make or break your day but it’s a nice touch to allow you to personalise the handset. This 8000 series, to my knowledge, is the first real proper use of the Bluetooth function of the handset. Other models have had the connectivity but not really made any use of it, but this one, in conjunction with the brilliant app, will really help you keep track of your usage as well as providing other, more gimmicky in my opinion, functions which I will go on to later. The previous model (Oral B 6000) connected to a ridiculously fragile box that helped you track which sector of the mouth you should be brushing, but the app goes far, far, from this basic understanding. The app could do with a separate review if I’m going to do it the justice it deserves, but needless to say you can track brushing times, frequency, flossing, tongue cleaning, mouth washing, and for the first time export these records to a dentist (in an appropriate format) so you can establish a dedicated programme of care for your teeth that can be tracked and monitored within the App.The gimmicky function, which is still, I feel, in its infancy, is utilisation of the mirror clamp and app. This is used to clamp your phone onto the mirror, and it will make use of your front facing camera to track your hand movements, with the help of the sensors in the brush, to time exactly the areas of your teeth that you’re cleaning. In my experience the field of vision the camera was using meant that if I moved my head slightly around whilst brushing the tracking was interrupted and, as a result, meant I needed to brush for far longer than normal. This could be as a result of the phone (Sony Z3) or the app, but I gave it a couple of goes before deciding that it was too much hassle. The brush itself has undergone other revisions since the previous model, it’s much more ergonomic and feels beach ready like it’s lost a few pounds, the charge time is significantly reduced and it seems to last longer from a single charge. My one complaint with the charging process is why do you need a constantly flashing light, surely a stable one that changes colour from red to green would suffice. Light issues aside, it’s a really nice brush and does feel better than my last one on my teeth, perhaps its motor is slightly improved because I got a really fresh feeling from my month with the brush.Overall, would I suggest purchasing the brush – yes, if you’ve not got an existing model that’s able to connect to the app. However, if you’ve got a good one already and it will connect with the app then there’s really nothing here that would force my hand to tell you to purchase this one over an older one. For me, and again it’s just my opinion, this brush is FANTASTIC and does subtly improve on previous models, but the changes themselves don’t justify throwing an existing model away.

I've been using Oral-B electric toothbrushes for nearly 10 years now, and the improvements in technology over that time have been huge. In the early days, the cleaning action was not as strong or effective, battery life was poor and charging times were slow, the bodies were bulky and heavy, and there was no visual feedback on your brushing technique. With this new model, Braun has brought in two technologies which have not yet been applied to their toothbrushes: a Lithium Ion rechargeable battery and Bluetooth connectivity along with a partner mobile app.The improvement in battery life is huge, even compared to a previous generation device that's only a couple of years old.I can get a week's usage out of the Genius 8000 (brushing twice a day for 2 minutes) and still see all 3 bars on the battery life indicator! The manual says a full charge takes up to 12 hours and will last 12 days at this level of usage; in my experience it may even last a bit longer. My wife's Oral-B Pro 6000 Toothbrush officially takes up to 24 hours for a full charge that only lasts up to 10 days with the same usage. That's quite a difference. Even with these improvements in battery life, the brushing action is noticeably stronger than my old Braun Oral-B TriZone SmartSeries 5000. However, this brushing power may be a slight issue for someone brand new to electric toothbrushes as it might make their gums bleed for the first few days (but it's worth sticking with it!). The toothbrush body is also slightly slimmer than my wife's 6000 too, which makes it slightly more convenient for packing to take on holiday, and with it's longer battery life you might not even need to pack the power adapter! The Bluetooth connectivity is not something I'm massively fussed about. Although they supply a nice wall mount for your mobile phone, I don't really want to have to bring my phone in with me, attach it to the wall and start up the right app just to brush my teeth! I'm totally used to using my SmartGuide that was supplied with a previous brush - this is a little LCD screen you can leave in your bathroom which gives you all the basic info you need (a timer, a warning if you press too hard, etc). I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to use my SmartGuide with this new brush, as the manual says it's only compatible with Bluetooth devices, but I'm pleased to report that it works just fine with the new SmartGuide that was supplied with my wife's Oral-B Pro 6000 Toothbrush, so if you're not bothered about Bluetooth then a SmartGuide is a great alternative! The App itself offers a few extra features on top of all the stuff you get with the SmartGuide. You can change the colour of the brush's "Smart Ring", which is a circular ring of LED lights at the top of the brush, but this is just a gimmick (unless you have multiple brushes and want a different colour for each one I guess). As well as the timer and pressure indicator, you also get a "position detection" summary that supposedly makes sure you're not neglecting any particular part of your mouth, although this was a non-issue for me. Just do 10 secs front, 10 secs back, then 10 secs biting surface for each quarter of your mouth in turn and you'll be fine. They also gamify brushing by giving you a summary of your brushing activity and a high score for your position detection. If you don't have a Smart Guide or prefer something more high-tech, you might like this app, but for me I prefer the convenience of the Smart Guide. I can see why Braun is going down this route though, as it opens up so many possibilities for the future. The 8000 is also supplied with a few different brush heads to try, and a premium travel case (but you need to spend a bit more on the 9000 model if you want the case that includes a fancy brush and phone charger!).Overall, this is clearly the best electric toothbrush I've ever used. The improvements in effectiveness and battery life/charge time are certainly worth having. For me personally, the Bluetooth functionality is impressive but not something I'll use very often. My only real concern is the high price - does this brush really justify spending significantly more than the Oral-B Pro 6000 Toothbrush, which also has Bluetooth? If you want a money-no-object Rolls Royce toothbrush, this is the one for you; if you want to save some cash, check out the 6000 model as it's almost as good and significantly cheaper. If I could, I would give this brush 4.5 stars, but since I can't I'm going to be generous and give it the full 5! Happy brushing.

I generally have issues with toothbrushes, regardless of if they are manual or electric, because I have multiple sclerosis and other nervous system problems which affect my grip, so when I got this toothbrush I was pretty excited because the soft touch handle is rubbery and so alot easier to grip (my last oral b tooth brush didn't have this grip so I would either end up dropping it... spraying toothpaste all over my bathroom, or have to wear a rubber glove to use it for the grip, which then posed issues for using the electric toothbrush!!)So after unboxing and setting up, I downloaded the app and had a little go.The only feature so far on the app that I can say I really like is the changing the colour of the light on the ring of the toothbrush, which to start with I thought was for the pressure sensor (I found out later whilst using that this is not the case) the other thing that is helpful is the timer on the app, as I am finding I am cleaning my teeth for alot longer. The position detection feature... I don't know if I am doing something wrong or missing a trick but I just couldn't get it to work properly, plus the app kept crashing on my phone whilst I was trying to use this feature.I am looking forward to taking it into my dentist and asking her where I need to focus on the most and then updating the "focused care" setting. In terms of brushing and the brush, initially I thought I would only use the regular or pro clean settings, but after having a play about I have been alternating the settings I use and the brush heads I use. My teeth are feeling so much cleaner since I have started using it and I have definately noticed that when I have been using the whitening setting (which has been quite regularly, in correlation with the whitening brush head and toothpaste) my teeth seem a lot brighter than previously. It is incredibly easy to use, and as I mentioned previously, due to my medical conditions, I am finding that the vibration of the toothbrush isn't hurting or wearing out my hands when I am using it (with my last electric toothbrush I was trying to grip it so hard... often not succeeding to hold on to it for the full 2+ minutes, my hands would really hurt from that and the harsh vibration of the toothbrush)I really like the stand, and the bit which holds the different brush heads, and I like the cover which means that when they are not in use they can be stored and kept clean. The travel case is great, does what it says on the tin ( or case.... hahaha;) ) and whilst I haven't been away yet with it I can see it being very useful. The one thing I do have to say though is that unlike in the product description, this does not have a charging travel case. It is just a regular case )I would definately recommend this toothbrush. So overall pros and cons (in my opinion)Pros-Teeth feel so clean after using it-For someone disabled/has hand dexterity like myself, it is incredibly easy to use and the soft touch/ rubbery handle makes it easy to hold on to and I don't have to worry About dropping it and spraying toothpaste all over my bathroom or breaking it- Again, with my disability, the buttons to switch the toothbrush on and switch between functions are easy to use- Toothbrush and brush heads easily stored both on the stand, or in the travel case- It is fun to be able to change the colour of the light on the ring of the tooth brush (video showing the different colours will be included on this review)Cons- I don't find the position detection on the app too reliable, I have been using it more really to time rather than focus on specific areas- The app crashes quite a lot (I have tried on around 4 different smart phones and has been the same each time)- In the app, if you chose one of the cleaning challenges (fresh breath, whitening etc. .) That is the only thing you can use the app for until you physically end the challenge (by either completing it, or going into the settings and ending the challenge ) or maybe I'm not doing it right!- The charging cable could do with being longer (just my personal opinion ) I am currently not able to charge it in my bathroom as the cable does not reach to my window ledge (where I have charged my previous toothbrushes) so I have to plug it in to an adapter and plug it into the main plug socket.

New to the Oral-B range of the electric toothbrushes is the Genius 8000 and 9000 models. What you get for both models is a free app to download with enhanced functionality compared to their other bluetooth brushes. There's a phone holder to stick via a large sucker to your bathroom wall and if you let the brush takeover your phone - or rather the camera or microphone, and point the camera to see your face, the brush will make sure you clean all your teeth thoroughly. The toothbrush will function in a non-smart way as with the older toothbrush, but you're paying a premium for all the extras. If you apply too much pressure when brushing a light on the toothbrush is unmissable and you can chose the colour you want via the app!.Both Genius modules come with a carry case, although this one cannot change the brush from the case as the 9000 does. And you get one fewer brushes - three in total. So Oral-B is putting some faith in bluetooth as an additional features. And the app, as long as you have a smartphone, and it runs the appropriate operating system, is not bad. It shows you graphically the four quadrants of your mouth to clean in turn with a count down timer from two minutes - or a count up timer if you like. It also shows you which cleaning mode you are using - daily clean, gum care and sensitive - together with an ability to change the time you want to clean each sector of your mouth, chose particular programmes to deal with bad breath or improve gum health, record when you replace a toothbrush head (the app will remind you), and record the last 30 cleaning sessions. To keep you entertained while all this is going on the app will display local weather conditions, the latest news and photos. You can also watch your own videos or photos if you want to. I think the 'smart' mode though setting up the phone's camera really is a bit too much hassle everyday. And in my bathroom at least I have small tiles which the phone holder will not attach to so it's a choice of using the mirror or using the mirror. I'm not sure I can't this bulky stand attached to my mirror though, or how safe it is keeping hold of my phone. Water doesn't mix well with mobile phones, and nor do tiled floors. In more expensive versions of the toothbrush you get a bathroom accessory to hold your phone safely. I think this is pretty much essential when mixing phones and bathrooms. The app is not perfect either. For example it doesn't start automatically when you turn on your toothbrush. You have to start the app and link the toothbrush each time you use the app with the toothbrush which can take around five seconds. The app encourages you to clean your tongue for 10 seconds but does not monitor that so you have to click a button on the screen to say you've done it, or not done it. It's the same with flossing and mouthwash. If you're convinced of the benefits of electric toothbrushes you'll be happy with this model. That said if you are not going to use the app there's no point in going for the bluetooth version - and note you've lost some features - whitening and an extra brush head - compared to the old version. In addition battery life is not great. Phillips brushes do better battery life and having reviewed one of those a couple of years ago (and saying I preferred Oral-B) I now like the Phillips brushes better. So if you do go on holiday with this brush for more than a week you'll need to take a charger with you as well.Pricing of electric toothbrushes seem to be rather insane. And this brush is selling with a 50% discount. I'd avoid paying full price for this brush therefore, and its a hefty price! The fact is that the basics of electric toothbrushes haven't changed. People tend to use the everyday mode and all the brushes do pretty much do the same things. This brush comes with some bells and whistles - and the bluetooth feature is a big plus if you're going to use it but there are cheaper bluetooth models out their from Oral-B. So it's really the additional functions the enhanced app has that you're paying for. I doubt many people will use the camera option. So overall a very good electric toothbrush but most features won't be used and a price/benefit balance this is a very expensive brush. Four stars

The Oral-B Genius 8000 Electric Toothbrush is a paean to contemporary dental hygiene technology, representing the pinnacle of what is possible in teeth maintenance. We have come a long way from chewing on a twig, and the Oral-B Genius 8000 combines the hardware with software to maximise the efficacy of your dental care regime.Neatly and securely stowed in smart compact packaging, the toothbrush kit - for it can reasonably be described as such - consists firstly of the main event, being the toothbrush handle with internal USB-rechargeable battery, ring indicator light, power level led indicators, and a power and mode select button above a row of icons that will indicate the current mode; three toothbrush heads are supplied, one standard and two other that I understand are random selections from the brush head accessory range; mine included a "sensitive" head and a "polisher" head for whitening teeth (n.b. this particular head should never be used by children), along with a small case with a clear perspex lid that can contain four brush heads and can be clipped over the handle charging base if so desired. Also provided is a light plastic travel/storage case that the handle (sand head) can be clipped into, along with a couple of brush heads in special slots provided. There is of course the charging stand, which the handle simply slots onto and charges via induction. The power plug is two pin, so will require an adaptor - unfortunately this is not provided. I have found the charge to be sufficient to power the toothbrush for an overnight trip without requiring the charger, so one need pack only the travel case. It retains power well.Lastly, there is a novel accessory that is specifically to facilitate the Oral-B App (available at your App store or download after capturing the provided barcode on your smartphone) and allow you to view the feedback; it is a smartphone holder that you can attach to your bathroom mirror via a suction cup, a release lever detaches it.It is a clever device and has a joint that affords a (limited but sufficient) degree of motion in all planes so you can position your smartphone to your preferred angle, connecting with the handle via Bluetooth and displaying relevant data. Unfortunately, while the app loaded perfectly, my smartphone could not be induced to find and pair with the Oral-B handle. I have encountered such issues before, but eventually they all seem to get resolved - I can only hope this is the case here, but thus far I've had not success. The 'phone cradle does make for a handy toothbrush case holder though - it's not designed for it and does not have as good as fit as a phone, but it holds the case with the handle and three heads effectively. And of course there is the manual. This has a list of parts which can be a little confusing initially, as it actually lists all the parts and accessories for all related models, not just the specific one you have, so your package will not contain all that is shown in the manual. So you can ignore those references to charging the handle while in the case & c as these do not apply to this model. If you are fortunate enough to be able to get the system up and running, the Oral-B App will give feedback and inform you whether you are using too much or little pressure, where you have brushed insufficiently, it will time your sessions and can set a brushing regimen. It is probably a little expensive for a kid's toothbrush, but if one has a child who is reluctant to brush their teeth regularly, this could make it so much fun for them. The indicator ring oround the top of the handle can even be set to your favourite colour as default. As an electric toothbrush aside from the use with the app, as a stand-alone, is actually a very good toothbrush with the various modes and wide range of interchangeable specialist heads offering great versatility and the ability to cater to individual dental hygiene needs. It's robust, very well made and looks every inch a star among electric toothbrushes. For those who take their oral hygiene very seriously this would seem an eminently suitable kit - so long as you are prepared to engage in the Battle of the Bluetooth to get it paired and running!

I have used electric toothbrushes on and off for years, liking the timer element but sometimes becoming fed up with the charging and storage side. This toothbrush has so many features it has made it a really enjoyable experience brushing my teeth, I never thought I would say that. I have always been the kind of person to rush through it - probably too quickly, and I dread dentist appointments and being told off for some plaque build up in certain places I regularly miss. For the first time in ages I feel my teeth are squeaky clean, whilst being able to accommodate my sensitive gums. The toothbrush has many different cleaning settings - whitening, sensitive, gum, daily.I usually use the sensitive option which is perfect, not too hard or aggressive and I don't get any pain or discomfort, whilst still getting the thorough clean I need. The fact it will adjust if you press too hard as well as flash at you is great as you can sometimes forget that power is not everything and you need to be careful with your gums! The position detection on the app is great to ensure I pay attention to every section in my mouth, not just the front or spending longer on one side in comparison to the other, though I'd like to be able to have detection as to which surface area I am brushing so I don't just do the visible areas, and get in behind and do the top/bottom surfaces also. It is currently more a case of top left. top right, front, and then the same for the bottom, rather than ensuring you brush ALL over each tooth in an area if that makes sense. The storage case that comes with the toothbrush is great, as it holds the toothbrush and two heads so you can carry a spare with you. I travel a fair amount and keeping my toothbrush dry and clean in a bag can be a bit of a pain so this is perfect. This brush also seemed to charge a lot quicker than my old electric toothbrushes which means I am much less likely to give up and revert to a manual one out of laziness! For the kid in me, one of my favourite elements is the coloured LED ring - you select the colour on the app, and flicking through the colours and watching them change on the brush like my own personal light sabre was entertaining. Would be great for kids - or big kids like me - and also for families with multiples of this brush as you could all select a different colour so there are no mix ups!I have had no problems with the app once the brush was connected via bluetooth to my phone- to use this you use the suction mount to attach to a mirror ideally and then put your phone in to hold it in front of you. It squeezes around it (like a selfie stick!). Then you position yourself so it can 'see' you in a circular bit in the middle and you then stay roughly in that position whilst you brush so it can pick up where you are brushing for the position detection. I like the fact that it will time you and store your stats so you can look back over a week/month etc and see how consistent you were. There are also other fun elements like trophies for a brushing streak, or brushing your teeth early, random things like that. You can also select specific areas to focus on within the mouth and spend longer on those if needed. I haven't used all of the features yet but it does seem to be something that can be almost as basic or in depth as you want it to be. There are even plans for people with braces, bad breath, plaque build up, gum problems etc where it asks how things look and gets you to take pictures to compare etc. I'm really impressed with this as I'm sure it is something that can grow in the future with updates and adapt to customers' needs.Overall I am glad I am back using an electric toothbrush, as my teeth have never been this clean with a manual toothbrush and the added elements of this toothbrush make it a fun, practical and efficient investment for anyone. With the cost of dental treatment being so high, it is definitely worth investing in something that aims to (and does) help improve your brushing, tooth and gum care. This toothbrush has certainly made me think about my routine and how to look after my teeth for health and vanity reasons!

The Wife and I have used have used Phillips Sonicare Toothbrushes for years. Recently one died on us so we need to get a replacement and this popped up. Im used to Sonic Toothbrushes, and this Braun one is Electric, I think at the minute, I still prefer the Sonic Toothbrush, this electric toothbrush just doesn’t seem to have the same feeling that its really cleaning your teeth, that said let talk about how it stacks up on its own merits. As with all things these days, everything has to be connected and this is no exception, this is my first Bluetooth enabled Toothbrush, designed to give you feed back on your brushing in order to get the best clean you can. Connecting it was easy,I searched for and downloaded the Oral-B app from the App Store, and launched it, all it requires is for you to turn on the brush for it to be detected, you can then turn it straight off again. The Toothbrush comes with a very good suction Phone Holder, which you are supposed to put on your bathroom wall at head height. Its extremely sturdy and suctions itself to the smooth tiled surface of my bathroom with ease. I tried to forcefully pull it off without releasing the suction lock and couldn’t get it to budge. This thing would work well as a regular phone holder, assuming you have the surface to attach it to. It also comes with multiple Toothbrush heads depending on preference. It had been a couple of weeks until I had actually got round to connecting the Bluetooth part of the Brush, but once it was connected it already knew all my previous cleans with it, and how long I had cleaned for. The idea of the App and phone is that it can detect where you are holding the toothbrush in order to calculate how long you have spent cleaning the different parts of the teeth. It asks you to setup the phone holder at head height, the uses your camera so you can position yourself at the best angle (The holder is on a ball joint and can tilt all ways to get the prefect angle). Once this is done and you turn on the brush, you are shown a timer and visual representation of your teeth. It covers 5 areas, and the more time you spend in the area, the white the image goes, giving you a visual guide to how long you have spent in each area, so you know if you need to switch it up, this seem to work very well, with the guide never getting the wrong area that I was brushing. Its also one of the brushes that knows if you are pushing too hard, this give you a visual cue on the brush itself (the stem of the brush glows red) if you are not using the mobile app, and also shows on the app itself, so you know to ease off the pressure. Am minor gripe here, is that when you do push down to hard, the brush sounds like its gonna stop and that its really struggling to run, like its low on battery (this may be by design, but I found it distracting and unneeded)Once you are done cleaning your teeth it asks you questions, like ‘Did your Gums bleed?’, ‘Any flossing?’ Etc, and give your a percentage of how well you cleaned your teeth and advice on how to improve. I can see this being useful for a lot of people, but I don’t think I will use the app much, As good as the Mobile holder is, they are alway a bit fiddly getting the phone in, due to the springer nature of the clamp, and at the end of the day, I like to wander around the bedroom or even sit on the edge of the bed looking at my phone (for non tooth related reasons), so standing still looking at my phone may not happen very much.Overall it is a competent toothbrush, that most definitely can clean your teeth well. Personal preference I think Sonic cleans better than Electric, but if you like your gadgets and like to record and document all aspects of your life, this brush will do you well.If like me you just wanna clean your teeth and go to bed with minimal fuss and ease, a regular, cheaper Electric Toothbrush will work just as well.

I have been using Oral-B electric toothbrushes for 20 years. In that time, some things have never changed - the same charger, same bushes (all interchangeable). However, in that time the number of models has proliferated to a bewildering degree. So, this one is the Genius 8000. That means it sits towards the top of the price range. At the bottom is the basic Vitality, then the sleeker Pro, then the 'smart' series which is basically the same design as the Pro but with bluetooth, and then the Genius. Oral-B is constantly producing special editions and variation on the accessories included in the pack, and price promotions mean that sometimes a more premium product can be cheaper than a more basic one.If you are looking at this particular brush, let me try to give you some guidance. As far as I can tell, the 8000 is the lowest level of the Genius range (above it being the 9000 and the X). The key features that set it apart from the Pro/Smart series are:- larger handle- a larger battery for less frequent recharging- bluetooth to link to the Oral-B app (some of the smart series just link to a little LCD screen display, which is annoying (and another thing to buy batteries for!)- a 'smart ring' light at the top, whose colour you can change using the Oral-B app- more brushing 'modes' - the 8000 has 5 (9000 and X have 6, I think). The main modes are faster than the Pro model, for more cleaning power.Of these, easily the most valuable is the battery - after a while, I was having to charge my Pro every few days, so lasting over 2 weeks is a joy. The faster main brushing speed is next (it feels like it cleans better). Then I would say that the larger handle is more comfortable to hold and manoeuvre. The brushing modes are nice, but I tend to just use the main one all the time. The bluetooth is a bit of a gimmick, to be honest.I tried out the Oral-B app. It pairs with the brush no problem, but its value is very limited. In basic mode, it will show you your progress through a 2-minute standard brush. But ALL Oral-B have a timer built in to do this, via short buzzes each 30s and long buxx after 2 mins. The app really adds nothing. It tracks your usage over time (more valuable for kids than adults I would say). The fanciest feature is supposed to be the ability to track where you are brushing in your mouth. In reality, this is incredibly finicky - you need to mount your phone on the enclosed holder (assuming you have smooth stable surface to sucker it to), then enable the camera on your phone, then position yourself EXACTLY the right distance from the phone. And all it really tells you is whether you brushed each side and the front teeth. If you are reasonably methodical, this tells you nothing new! Also in the pack are the standard charging stand, plus a clip-on brush head holder, 3 sample heads of different kinds (cross action, 3D white and sensitive), and a travel case (just a basic plastic one that holds the brush and 2 heads - no power pack).I would say you should choose the Genius range if you want the extra battery life and larger, more comfortable handle (or if you want more choice of brushing modes). Forget about the bluetooth and the app - waste of time. Then, get the 8000 for (generally) the lowest price. With the 9000 you get the same brush (plus one extra brushing mode), and a case containing a power pack (but note - only for USB charging, i,e., it will charge a phone but weirdly NOT the toothbrush!)With the Genius X, you get the same as 9000, but the case now also charges the brush (much more sensible).I have used a dozen Oral-B brushes over the years - they all give a good clean and you will not go wrong with any of them, but I hope this review helps you understand what the 8000 gives you, and hence whether you go for this one, save money and get a Pro, or splash out on the Genius X for the brush-charging case.

I write this review as a long term user of Oral-B electric toothbrushes. This brush is my fourth Oral-B electric toothbrush, and when I bought my first one many years ago, I didn’t think I would buy any other and I didn’t think they would change much, and over the years, the only really change had been to the timer and the battery life. However, with this brush, you feel like there is a real step change in the electric toothbrush industry, this brush is different in a way that I hadn’t anticipated! So, what is the step change? This brush can be bluetoothed to your phone… and I know many of you will think, so what? Do I really want that? And to be honest, that was my first reaction. However,I have dutifully connected my phone, and each time I brush my teeth, I ensure my phone is connected and monitoring my teeth cleaning progress. I know you are still saying, but why would I bother? That sounds like too much effort! But this is the thing, if you are interested in ensuring you are getting the best tooth cleaning process, that you are want to make sure your teeth last your lifetime, that you really are interested in your oral health and you want to cut down on those dental bills, I assure you, you will bother!Why?1. I have been inspired to stick to my 2 minute cleaning regimen – a timer on my phone counts down… and although I had a timer on my last brush, I often gave up with boredom….. so why does this brush (or should I say this app) keep my interested? To be honest, it’s the visual timer, AND, the clincher for me, the news snippets that are popping up on the bottom of my smartphone screen – I read them and it keeps me brushing! A very simple little tool that keeps the brain occupied and stops the boredom of teeth cleaning, I didn’t think it would work, but it does for me. Teeth cleaning is not generally considered an exciting activity, we do it, but often we just want to finish and move on, but to get the best, we do need to try and clean our teeth for 2 minutes twice a day!2. The timer counts down in quarters, so you know when to move on to the next place in your mouth – ensuring you clean each of your teeth zones to the right degree – again simple, but effective.3. I have been known to brush my teeth, or should I say my gums too hard – and it’s affected my gums, and my dentist in the past has told me off. With this brush, the app, and the tooth handle light itself turns red when you use too much pressure, and you immediately will change the pressure. Again a simple but very effective tool.4. You can give yourself challenges – and at the moment I am doing a fresh breath challenge – where I am given advice on ensuring I achieve my goal in 2 weeks, including flossing, tongue cleaning, etc – great, it’s inspiring me, and I don’t like the app telling me when I am failing in my goal, so I’m sticking to the regimen!5. If you do forget to bring your phone to the bathroom, or you have turned it off, or it’s run out of power…. Don’t panic! Use the brush as normal, and next time you brush your teeth with your phone connected, it will upload your data… and I bet you find you didn’t clean your teeth for that magic 2 minutes when you didn’t have your phone connected! When I got this brush, I decided not to use a new brush head to start with, my previous Oral-B toothbrush, still had a fairly new brush head, and I thought that if I started with that, I could really tell if there was much difference between the last toothbrush and my new one!I have to say, I can see a difference, my teeth feel cleaner, my mouth feels fresher…. I am converted. You may think the extra cost isn’t worth it, but I do, you won’t regret it!

The Oral B 8000 is a fantastic brush. Upon receiving it I was beyond excited to begin using it and see if all the amazing things it claimed to do were feasible. I was most excited about the pressure sensor and let me tell you it did not disappoint. The brush left my mouth feeling super clean and the 5 different modes are definitely an attributing factor to this. I also feel like the brush has a lot of power and good battery life so far.FUNCTIONSIn order to use the brush to its full functionality you do need to download the oral B app, which can be found in the app/play store. I found it rather easy to get up and running and once installed the app is able to show you how you perform as you brush and detail all your activity. There is even the option of having your dentist set up a customised dental care routine specific to your needs. The app has 3 main functions the timer, position detection and the brushing challenge (which is unlocked after a few uses). Both position detection and the brushing challenge require you to use your front facing camera. Once you have finished brushing the app reminds you to brush your tongue, floss and rinse. Now let's talk about the Position detection. The position detection technology is a great idea however I did find that it isn't always 100% accurate as the image being reflected back to me would sometimes show that I was brushing a certain area when in fact I was actually brushing a different area of my teeth. This was the only criticism I could give towards the brush as for the most part the position detection it is good but I do wish it was slightly more accurate. If I was however able to recommend one improvement it would be that the toothbrush/app would be able to track where you are brushing even if you move away from the camera as this would be handy for those of us whose bathrooms are a little more difficult to stick the phone holder on mirrors in front of our sinks. My phone holder is actually stuck on the wall next to my basin as the mirror in front of my sink is not sturdy enough for me to stick the phone holder so that means when I take a step to my right and out of sight of my camera, it tells me to move back to the centre which makes it slightly difficult to spit (sorry for the graphics). The pressure sensor is a great addition as both the toothbrush and app alert you as to when you get a bit too heavy handed by flashing red. It is also worth mentioning the brush can be used without the app and it is easy to sync your data once you go back to the app by pressing the mode button.DESIGN & ACCESSORIESThe toothbrush is very sleek in design and is much thicker than my previous oral B Pro 600 brush which I like as it provides you with good grip. The accessories in the box include 3 heads(cross action, 3D white and a sensitive brush head) a travel case, phone holder, a brush heads compartment with protective cover and a charger. The brush also has an LED smart ring, which is customisable in 12 different colours and flashes red when you are applying too much pressure while brushing as mentioned before.SUMMARYOverall I found this toothbrush definitely lived up to its claims. The brush is amazing and very easy to get to grips with. After each session it leaves my teeth feeling squeaky-clean and my tongue gets just as much attention. The LED ring is a nice aesthetic touch and the battery life has proven to be up to par. With my only criticism being with a few tweaks to the position detection I would most definitely recommend this toothbrush to anyone looking to improve their overall healthcare of their mouth.

I have been using Oral B toothbrushes for the last 15 years. I have had three Triumph models, with a Triumph TriZone Triumph 6000, I bought for £35 on an Amazon Lightning Deal in 2013 still going strong. My current model is a 3-year-old Oral B 9000 model. This has been an excellent toothbrush. I have also tested 3 Colgate Omron toothbrushes for the Vine programme, the C350, C600 and the clever C1500 and 8 Sonicare brushes. Colgate brushes don't really stand up to the quality of an Oral B or Phillips Sonicare electric toothbrush. An Oral B brush is rather a mechanical type of brush action, compared to the drill like sensation of a sonic type brush.I have tested both types for the Vine and had started to come down on the side of the more mechanical Oral B for their superior cleaning ability but Sonicare for gum health. The other reason I would choose Oral B is for their longevity and ease of use. Having tested many Sonicare's, I find that just outside of their guarantee they simply stop working. The repair then costs more than buying a new one. As I said I have a Triumph which is many years old, used every day until I obtained the Genius 9000 model and it still charges, holds the charge and works perfectly. The quality of an Oral B 8000 is a high-end brush and the only significant difference in real use to the 9000 is that the case does not have a rechargeable battery built in it. To be honest I have never really used this facility, as we take a charging stand with us, as my wife also has a 9000.Firstly it has 6 cleaning actions and Bluetooth capability. There is a Bluetooth App and once the App is downloaded, the display on the phone will do 3 things; Coach you with a timer and a brushing guide displayed on the screen of the phone, Track on a weekly and monthly basis your brushing habits and third Personalise and customise brushing modes according to your preferences. Having tried the App and tested what it does, I feel that the idea is simply more marketing hype than anything that offers a real difference over the older brush. The only problem is that the manufacturer has done away with the old SmartGuide monitor, which analysed your brushing action and told you which setting you have selected. So Oral B has ditched the monitor and you now have to use your phone. The Bluetooth technology is good but I feel mostly superfluous to the actual cleaning action of the brush. So how does the brush do in cleaning teeth? As already indicated I have been an Oral B fan for years. There is no doubt that an electric brush cleans better than a handheld one. As already stated the action of this brush is a bit "Industrial", don't forget any Oral B brush head is interchangeable between ranges, so you could put the Trizone head on it and it feels different. In all honesty, I cannot see why you would pay extra for the 9000 over the 8000 as this increase only really gives you a travel case with a battery in it. It comes with 3 heads, but I think the cross action head is probably the best, for cleaning.Oral B offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, so if you do not like it for any reason, your money will be refunded.Overall this is a very good, incredibly well made brush. It does what it says on the box, it has many gimmicks which I am not sure are worth paying the extra for but I am still happy to recommend this product for the super cleaning ability.

Oral-B Genius 8000 Electric Toothbrush Powered by BraunI have been using electric tooth brushes for about 20 years after having some very expensive and painful trips to the dentists – four root canals and four gold crowns. Since having this work done and using electric tooth brushes I have not have not had needed any more treatment so I am a convert to electric tooth brushes. I have also not needed to see the hygienist very often since adopting electric tooth brushes. This is a complete cleaning and care system for the teeth and gums and the most upmarket brush system I have ever used. I normally use the basic Oral B brushes and general cleaning heads. In the box.The handle /motor unit,Power cord and charger with 2 pin bathroom plug,Three cleaning heads with different functions,Tray tidy and brush cover,Travel case with phone charger built in,Instructions and warrantee leaflets.Set up.This is simple all you have to do is plug in the charger unit to the mains and pop the brush onto to charge. A full charge takes about 4 hours and this gives about 4 to 5 days of cleaning. There is a charge indicator. You then need to choose the cleaning head depending on what cleaning function you need to use. The heads are push on and very easy to attach and take off.App.There is an associated app that works with Android and Apple. This links to the brush and monitors your brushing times and style and feedbacks advice. I initially thought this was a bit of a gimmick but now I am using it I have found it helpful and very informative.Cahrger.The case also acts as a phone charger. The lead is the traditional 2 pin shaver sort so I would recommend getting an inexpensive 3 pin adapter as well so that it can be used anywhere. In use.--------Early days yet but this brush gives a much better clean overall and the extra heads do a great job. The brush indicates when you press too hard and lets you know when the recommended 2 minutes of cleaning are up. Compared to the cheaper brush I was using this one runs much faster and the head massages the gums much better in my opinion. Only time will tell if this is worth the high price over a basic brush. However, this is not just a brush but a complete care system. It has a built in brushing timer and several modes to help get the best clean possible. It will even help remove surface statins to whiten teeth.I use a good quality tooth paste everyday with these brushes, either Oral B’s complete or Colgate Total.I have saved a fortune in dental costs and my dentist promotes using an electric brush over a manual one. The replacement heads are expensive but much cheaper than a trip to the dentist. The motor speed reduces automatically when it detects your gums so not to damage them or cause pain.Using previous Braun tooth brushes the heads last 3 weeks to a month.Overall.A very expensive brush system but one that extends cleaning ability and functions over a basic brush. Some of the features may be a bit gimmicky but time will tell and I will add to this review after a few months of use. You will need a three pin plug adapter to charge it as it only comes with a two pin shaver type plug. The 3 pin converters are available for a few quid on Amazon. The phone charging part works well. However, as a cleaning system it is one of the best I have used.
